Hakan and Romagnoli renewing is a bad news! cant be anything good giving extensions to two deadwoods that create nothing good for the team and the club.

I want a new ACM. I'm done with Hakan. So, renewal or not, I want us to sign someone different for that position. The fact that he's waited this long without signing though really pisses me off. So, like Donnarumma, he too can F right off. I hope Maldini has someone lined up and just retracts the offer.

As for Romagnoli....there is a catch. He still has a year left on his contract. Tomori needs to come no matter what. But if Romagnoli is sold, we'd need Tomori + someone else. That someone else's quality will depend on how ready we think Gabbia is. But for me, Gabbia is no worse then Romagnoli. But it's still needed to have 4 good options with being in the CL this season. Kjaer, Tomori, Gabbia is fine. But who's the 4th CB if Romagnoli leaves? Kalulu? Caldara? I'm not so sure. So Romagnoli out means another CB signing. But do we have the money? Should we spend that on a CB if we can renew Romagnoli at a reasonable wage?

I would not sell Romagnoli at all if he is willing to renew till end of july. If not renew till than ,I'd sell him till the end of august (if possible to find destination for him). I think he's victim of "Hype" (in this case negative one) which is characteristic of big chunk of Milan fans. Truth to be told ,he indeed had bad period ,when he played like garbage ,but he's done lot of good stuff in not so distant past ,so it's ridiculous (in my opinion) to give up on him just like that. Same way "hype" creates "superstars" from average folks who had few good games or months ,it created "absolute garbage who should never been bought" in Romagnoli case.

News on this is mixed. Some say we are renewing. Others say we are not. Most are saying we don't want him.

 Agree 100%. 

Expectations for Romagnoli were just too high. In reality, he's a good.player but needs others around him. He is not world class. I don't think he'll ever be. He's limited in many physical aspects (physicality/athleticism/pace/speed/explosiveness/etc) which in turn limits him in his 1v1 defending. But he has other qualities that can be used well. For example, in a low defensive line, I trust him to be well positioned and even lead the line. But if we play a high line, he'll likely be exposed. 

In many ways, he's like Acerbi for example. Acerbi came to Milan with certain qualities but lacked in others. At the time, the expectation of the fans and management alike, was that we needed someone like Nesta. Acerbi was never going to be that. Same for Romagnoli. But these defenders, if used in a certain setting, can be useful. So look at Acerbi at Lazio. Change of setup (3 CB line), low defensive line for the most part....and he's been serviceable there.

Having said all that....it has to make sense financially as well. We can't be paying 5mil a year to a CB that's limited and that performances will be so affected by the setup we use. So I agree. We give him the renewal option until July. If he thinks in his mind that he's better then what we offer, fine. He can leave in August.

With that, not sure he's a captain material and it's never good when your captain (supposed to be in his prime) is on the bench half the time.

I think Maldini is sending a warning to Romagnoli to really think hard if he's letting Raoila play hardball with his contract negotiation. But then, if we get 25-30m for Romagnoli, yeah I'd consider selling him.

What sucks is that a defender of Romagnoli's level in a CL team is likely going to go for 50mil+. Totally inflated, but such is this crazy market. I think after a season of CL exposure, especially if we do well and advance to later stages, the values players like Romagnoli will skyrocket.
Think about Theo. If he's worth 40mil now, after some good CL performances, he'll easily be worth 60+.

I'm in no way suggesting we should be selling our best players. My point is that selling Romagnoli will mean we'd have to spend on another CB. But are we going to get a player of the same quality? Because if you get a player of the same quality that's part of a good CL team, you gotta expect to pay at least 40 due to the hype alone. So again, renewing him (at a reasonable wage) is not a bad option.it allows us to spend elsewhere in the squad.

But if there are opportunities out there to snag a good CB for cheap/free, then sure, why not? Sell Romagnoli for 25mil if possible.
