I think you may be overrating Firpo and possibly also underrating Romagnoli.

Firpo will be 25 when the new season starts and he still hasn't had one decent season at a decent level.

Firpo seems pretty mediocre. Scouting network needs to identify better full back options than recycling the same old links.

Sorry to say, but I truly share your point of view. Totally, I am against his departure bearing in mind who we can afford in his place.

We've already replaced him with Tomori and our backline is better because of it. So we don't need to find a starter-Romagnoli replacement. We'll need to sign another CB though to take his place as a 3rd option. Unless Gabbia can step up. Then we need a 4th choice.
Either way, Romagnoli's deal runs out next season. If he won't sign on our terms (salary AND 3rd choice for now...menaing not to expect to be a given starter as a "captain"), then he needs to be sold. Raiola seems to want 5M a year for him, which is absolutely insane. Not worh that with his level of performance.

Any respectful team should have 4 worthy CBs minimum.

I don't think the hate on Romagnoli's ability has a lot to do with the actual quality of the player, rather fans are fed up of dealing with the donkey who represents him. I would assume his below average season is just the cherry on top.
