In 2021, Shaqiri will earn a base salary of £4,160,000. 4.86 euros

if we give him 3 years contract for 4 mil euros, i dont see him refusing

And when you remember Eriksen hadn't actually set San Siro on fire for Inter, you see that they may not miss Eriksen much, but are actually saving on wages.

True but I just see Hakan flopping terribly because he’s not a guy to handle the pressure and spot light. Ericksen was arguably played in an unfamiliar role under Conte. I actually thought he was going to do much better with Inzaghi before his accident. Inter do save a ton of money but now Barella is going to ask for big money after seeing this schmuck get paid.

I think Hakans move sees Romagnoli for sure out (if we can move him) and for sure one of Hauge or Leao. It’s a shame as I was really hoping to have us add depth.

Hauge wants to really fights for his place in the team, and wonder if the management takes this in considiration and actually wants to rely on him.

Thats a huge gamble but you never know. With a good pre-season anything can happen. Hauge deserves his chance. And as i said before, i think he can do pretty well in Hakans role. He has good passing, creative, and a good shoot. He is not the qucikest or the strongest so i think he fits better in that role.

Lets seeSmile.

Under Pioli his sons Castillejo & Krunic will always be favoured ahead of Cinderella Hague.

We aren't toxic [emoji16]

We simply haven't been able to build a solid team yet so players naturally struggled here. And then thrive when they leave and find a better, stable team elsewhere.
Proud of Maldini for not giving in. Took a little longer than I expected but worked out.

Now samu and krunic leave and hauge gets more starts we are fine.

I just want our young tonali and haige to actually play and be given chances

I didn't question his current salary, in PL they earn a lot. My point was that it would be madness for us to spend that kind of money on someone like him. He's been decent for his national team, but he's 29 and probably have one decent season at club level...

Tonali isn't ours yet...

Sell Hakan for 10m or offer him 6m/year? There are no simple solution and the management decide to take a bet to try to reach UCL so we can attract better players. I think you need to get real and stop imagining that we can easily sold these players for high price.

I didn't say I expected those guys sold for a high price. What I expected the management to do was to know the temperature of the room and understand what the situations with the players are. No, there were no astronomical offers available for either player last year, but even selling those two for say 40m combined, which is very realistic, would've gone a long way in helping us in the FFP accounting. Instead, we kept them around and they walked away for free, and now we are in a even worse situation with FFP because we have to spend cash to sign their replacements. I can't imagine Donna or Hakan's demands were not known to management this time last year. If they thought those figures were excessive and they would never satisfy it, then yes, I would expect them to be sold, even if the offers are not astronomical. That is sound asset management. Bayern did that with Toni Kroos, Real is doing that now with Varane, just to use a couple of examples.

I don't doubt the management are in a difficult situation with a lot of the players, but frankly speaking, that is what they are here for. Nobody said running Milan is a job so simple that any idiot can just do it. But just because it is difficult doesn't mean we should just quit trying to make better decisions. Fine, Hakan and donna can leave for free, but if we are going to make the same errors with Roma/Kessie by offering them contracts that are well below what they can get in the market and then expect them to eventually cave in and just sign, then we are going to be in the same shit hole this time next year.

It would have been great to sell them both. I guess the situation is that Milan assumed they would eventually cave and not choose a bit of extra money over staying. I mean, even in the eyes of neutral fans Calhanoglu and Donnarumma look like greedy pr*cks right now.

That said, I think Milan are taking a bigger perspective on this. The number one priority is financial sustainability, whether we're in the CL or not. It seems wise to me, considering that we were kicked out of the EL not long ago for running a massive deficit. We just can't put ourselves in a situation where we commit to spending more money than we might actually have a year or two down the line. As much as it sucks in the short term, this is what financial sustainability means, and in the long run it'll be good for Milan.

We also need to find a settlement agreement with UEFA to avoid more sanctions, because we're still running a deficit. So we have to be able to show them that we are making tough choices and doing what we can to rectify the situation. If not we might get kicked out of European football for a second time, and if that were to happen in a season where we're supposed to be playing in the CL, it would do a lot more damage to the club than losing a few players on a free transfer.
