Summer mercato 2021

Of course I would have wanted to have Chiesa if it was possible, but not at the cost of the rest of the team we're building. It wouldn't help us at all.

Like I said, a lot of people are not thinking straight. Chiesa is useless without players like Kessie, Bennacer, Theo. These 3 are the most important players in our team at the moment and each of them is worth 60m. Sancho is better than Chiesa but he is still on the losing team, 1 player does not make a team. You need 11 players to make it work. 10m/year goalkeeper is too expensive when we can use the money to improve the AMC and RW department.
But is the "debate" about Chiesa vs Half of our team? I thought it was sparked on by someone mentioning saying it's either Chiesa or Tomori + Tonali. And I won't hesitate to exchange Tomori+Tonali for Chiesa. And again, it's not about judging a player based on one tournament. Chiesa has been a consistently talented player even before the EURO. One of the best out there in the league. Certainly top 3 forwards. The EURO just stamped his immense talent.
According to Rudy Galetti of SportItalia a new name has entered the list of possible targets: Dele Alli.
There aren’t too many players I’d take from this current Italy side. I was surprised how muted Insigne and Immobile were. Too bad about Spinazzola. I thought he was great. Chiesa is good, but the price was off putting. We just weren’t there yet as a team to make that kind of purchase.

I’m tired of Donna talk. Raiola and him were looking for this outcome. No way he would commit long term to us as it’s always going to be the next biggest pay day using the Bosman option. Let’s see what the club thinks about him after a few shaky crosses or mistakes. He is young and they will happen. Will he bounce back then especially with Navas pretty pissed?

Don’t worry guys, there is a World Cup coming up to artificially inflate the value of our current players. Let’s hope that Kessie signs and Benna, Tonali, Theo, Saele, Tomori, Calabria and Leao continue to grow. These are all starters (or nearly) and sub 23. Kind of a big deal.
Isn't Dele Ali a CB/CD? Why would we need a guy like that to play CAM?
This happens every 2 years. People lose all reason and get tunnel vision based on 5 games. So much hype. Unbelievable

Eric Dier is CB/DM.
Dele Ali is CAM/CM.

That’s when you sell baby! PSG and EPL clubs will surely be in the market.

I would sell Tomori, Tonali & half our team to have Chiesa

Donnarumma had a good tournament but are we forgetting the goals he gave away this season? Just because he made no mistakes at the Euro? He's still young and prone to mistakes but wants to be paid like the best keeper of all time.

That's just it. we'd see more of Krunic because we wouldn't have had the cash for Tonali. We'd have had to rely on Kalulu because Tomori wouldn't have been an option. Chances are, after a season or two of garbage we would have lost Chiesa because we weren't able to fix other parts of the team to work with his quality.

Donna is a good keeper, no doubt about it, but if he is making 12m at age 22, imagine what we would have to pay him at age 28, he'd probably make 20m a year. No keeper in the world is worth that, in all honesty, prime Neuer didn't even make anywhere near that.

I think Donna is only a fit for no more than a handful of teams in the world, financially speaking. Only the teams that basically have unlimited budget AND no FFP issues like PSG and the EPL teams can afford to pay a GK that kind of cash with the expectation that he is going to be asking for a raise pretty much every other year. But is Donna really a good fit for those teams stylistically speaking? To me, there is a big difference between GK of a strong team vs. a weak team. Weak teams want GK that can make spectacular saves because they are going to give up good shooting opportunities, whereas strong teams need GK that do not make mistakes and build up play, because they for the most part can control possession and won't give up many opportunities to shoot. Donna, for all of his shot saving abilities, is hardly a GK that is error free. In fact, he is quite shaky handling crosses and corners, for example. That is not a recipe for success for a PSG keeper. Yeah, he is going to make a big save or two from here and there but one mistake in a big match, and he is on shaky grounds already. Maybe he will prove me wrong, but I for one don't think his path at PSG is going to be as smooth as everyone thinks it will be.

Yeah, a few games at the Euro and everyone thinks he's the best of all time. People have short memories. They've already forgotten the goals he cost us this season.
There's no doubt he's a talent. and there's no doubt he's got the goods to be great, but he still needs to work at it or he'll be another in a long list of players that showed a lot of promise but never truly hit peak.

Chiesa is a machine but it wouldn't be just TOmori+Tonali, it would have killed this window also. And with the tema not progressing how we'd like... how long before Chiesa asks to leave?
Plus. We're assuming in all this he would consider us anyway. the one window we were able to sign him was the window Juve bought him. How do we convince him to pick us over Juve?
"You could choose to play with Ronaldo or come to us and you get to play with Hakan"

So much this!

Yep! That's when they overspend on average players the most. Of course the EPL clubs overspend on average English players all the time anyway.
