Donnarumma is a dumb but lucky bastard.
He is a great shot-stopper, but his weaknesses are equally glaring. He was kicked out by Milan (I think we can say that, because allegedly Raiola came back and wanted to restart the negotiation, but Paolo Maldini said no), and when it seemed that he may need to take a pay cut to find employment, the UEFA's pet dog P$G came around and offered an astronomical wage despite themselves having a WC goalkeeper already. Lucky him.
I also thought the Player of the Tournament stuff was laughable. No one is to deny his heroics during the PK shootout but that was it. Take that part out and he had at best just a decent tournament, but now he is remembered as a legend. Lucky him. Donnarumma said that he wasn't that happy at the final moment because didn't even realize that Italy already won. What a dumb boy. On the bright side, his dumbness may rid him of distraction and allow him to concentrate which in the end worked out perfectly for him. In a greater picture, I suspect that could perhaps explain his professionalism on the pitch when he played for Milan.
Not sure if everyone heard or had mentioned here, but apparently Paolo Maldini requested a man-to-man conversation with Donnarumma after a training. Donnarumma ran away and phoned Raiola, who immediately phoned Paolo and sternly warned him this should never happen again. Donnarumma may claim he loves Milan, but his action says loud and clear about where his loyalty lies with. The picture I had in my mind when reading about that was more like a little boy hiding behind his daddy's back when a stranger wanted to offer a candy. Donnarumma may love Milan and he probably thought that Raiola will help him stay at Milan but at the end of the day, he was the one that ultimately allowed all this crap to happen. I don't care if he is a legend to Italy, and certainly won't rain on the parade for those who still love and support Azzurri and decide to forgive him or love him, but for me, he is a clown and he is a closed page. Some of you probably remember that I was one of his supporters when he was already showing signs of traitors over the years, but now, I am happy that he fucked off and hope that he can stay the fuck away.
Some criticizes Maldini for not renewing his contract while possible. The problem here is it was never possible with Raiola. Some suggest that perhaps we could renew on his term (huge salary, short term, release clause), then sell him after Euro now that his market value has probably just skyrocketed. Great idea, but not going to happen either. First, you can't bet on the Euro. He turned out to be lucky, but the chances were equally good that he could be a bust. Second, even if one could foresee all this, you still would not renew him on his term, because I bet that he would sign and then refuse to leave claiming that he loves Milan. Then, he would continue to be a pest for our administration for the coming year and it would hurt the team's morale. I agree with the administration. Just cut the tie.
Football should be simple. Money is important but you don't need millions to support your family. Yet, I don't necessarily blame him (or any other players) for wanting more money. It is their choices, after all. But that won't stop me from calling them a clown either, if they hurt my team. Sorry that I am biased.
As for Chiesa, it is pretty much the same. I think he would be very useful. I even believe that he was the reason that we didn't get the Scudetto. We were unbeaten until that game when he scored twice on us in a balanced game (we were even slightly better than Jube, despite the scoreline). Had we at least managed a draw, Inter Milan may just gradually lose their momentum, and their financial woes may start to exert a psychological impact on the players. Instead, we imploded and threw the season away in January. If you go back to find my posts, you can see that I have always rated the following players: Chiesa, Zaniolo, Kean, and Belotti. For current or ex-Milan players, I have always liked and supported Calabria, Cutrone and Kessie (I hope that he will not disappoint us).
But there is no point crying over spilled milk. The asking price was not feasible for us; not to mention that the player already said yes to Jube when we inquired; and he probably never had the intention to join us even without Jube in the picture. His father, back in time, always scored against Milan too, despite not being a big star. So fuck their whole family. Again, sorry that I am biased. So, they are not my favorite people in the world. 
So, let's move on. Forza Milan.

Great post. But I have issues with two points - firstly I would never agree that our management cannot do anything about Donnarumma leaving for free. No, I don't believe that.

I agree on Xu here. Nothing much Maldini could have done. Ok let's say Maldini offered him a contract that Donnarumma would agree. Try to imagine the terms. Definitely would be a short contract. 4 years max. With a very low release clause. Probably 40 m. And if don't qualify for CL 20m. Plus a huge fee for Raiola. So in the end even Milan manage to sell him it will be for a very small amount of profit. And as I have said b4 the rest of the squad will see this as an opportunity to do the same when their renewal comes.
I think 'fuck their whole family' is more towards the other Donnarumma
Damn why people are still obsessed with Donna, he is gone and we have already bought equally good GK in the form of Maignan. For me, spending a penny more than 20M on GK position is stupid and waste of money forget giving 12M/year contract... Move on
