I know for a fact there was strong links to him in 19 as I said. He was an exciting player even then and was promoted to the senior side in 18. In any case, we can't dwell over these missed opportunities. We've had our own fortune in signing Leao, Theo, Tonali among others & Adli looks like another top notch signing. We should continue doing what we've been doing & hopefully Sanches+Botman rumours are concrete

When we signed Paqueta in 2018 Antony was 17-18 years old and played in Sao Paulo B-team and had done nothing so I'm pretty sure he was no real alternative back then.

Also Paqueta is not a horrible player. It's true that it didn't work out as we had hoped at Milan, but he was still very young and I still think that he could have come good here with better man management. Now he's one of the best players in Ligue 1, scores goals and contributes a lot for Lyon and at whoscored.com he's ranked 7th overall for player ratings this season. He is also doing well for the Brazilian national team.

It's a mirage, he will soon flop in his usual way outside France and being a starter for Brazil means nothing nowadays when they have players like Danilo, Fred and Everton starting in their Copa final...

Totally agree. I saw enough of Paqueta to know he's painfully average and always will be. He's so slow and besides the nice trick once in a while he's nothing special. Brazil is not what they used to be in fact they frequently get destroyed now so means nothing playing for the NT these days. Not the times of dinho and r9 that's 4sure

Lol all I remember was them getting destroyed by Germany and not doing much ever since. In any case their squad doesn't interest me much & happy we sold Paqueta

All those victories coming against the 'mighty' South America, didn't able to beat only respectable SA team Argentina since 2019. In Europe they would be placed below Serbia and Poland.
