Pato

Pato is good in open games, only if he doesn't lose balls so easily. Do not field him as a target man against small teams and in training stop him from dribbling defenders at 50-50 situation. This is my personal suggestion.

so you told us what you believe the problem is.... but how do you propose Milan are to solve it?

I read all the comments about Pato, I follow everyday the rumors about him leaving ...

I wonder, why wouldn't we try to send him on loan for one season ?
Send him in another country (PSG ?) on loan, let him have less pressure there, keep playing at high level (PSG will be in CL next season), gain confidence in Ligue 1 as he would score tons of goals, let Paris have their star player for next season, let Ancelotti and Leonardo be happy to have Pato and develop his talent, and then, let's take the new Pato back in June 2013.

Everyone would be happy in this case:
- Pato improves
- PSG had a star player for one season before investing massively again for other star players
- Milan gets a confident Pato back (and doesn't have to sell him)
- the fans don't lose a player who is as apreciated as bashed (sometimes by the same people, including me)
One should not speak ill of the dead.
So stop laughing at Juventus !

No that would be a big mistake..you do not keep a player in Milan only because fans love him. That is why we have Galliani, Allegri and Braida..to make an educated prediction, or bold guess whether Pato is for MIlan or not.

He still holds around 35-40 mil value which is great great money. We should not risk it with a loan. Either we forget the money and trust in him that he will become the player we all know he can, or we cash in.

Just analyse the situation where we send him on loan., and he fails there too. He will come back with even bigger pressure and much more dropped value. And Galliani is smart enough not to let PSG and Leonardo to play with his 40 mil worth of player.

PATO is still young, he has all the time in the world, I don`t know why all of us try to shorten his time...

Yeah, that's not how things usually work out. Remember the Gourcuff case?

If we do decide to loan him out, it will kill his confidence (please name a 50m who gets loaned out?) and he might get pist at Milan and won't want to come back after the loan spell.
... meaning that we would have to sell him for cheaper than he is worth.

It's actually a lose-lose-lose situation I think.

Never said we should keep a player because the fans admire him ... I just wondered something, then, while I hope Pato will stay because I think he can still become a great player, if he leaves and the team looks stronger then with new players, I won't really care about Pato.

About his value, it is repeatedly written in medias that PSG just offered 28M ... We bought the boy for 24M if I remember correctly !! And that offer would be considered by Galliani and co, so I don't think we'll get so much money for him, so we should keep him, at least for moment (and it would be dumb to sell a player now, in January, whereas we have CL to play).

About the last bold sentence, if a player like Pato was to fail in France, then he wouldn't be worth the Milan shirt ... Damn, a guy like Hoarau scored 17 goals two years ago, Gameiro and Moussa Sow look(ed) like stars in France and they're not what we can call very talented or great players, just average/good ones !! So IMO, there's no way Pato could fail in France.

Actually, there is a difference between sending a player on a pure loan (no option), and send him on loan with an option to buy. In the second case, it's like if you said to the other club "try and use the player for one year, and if you like his performances, just keep him by paying that".

Please, stop with the 35-40-45-50M value, for moment, no club is going to give us that. And with a loan with no option to buy, the guy has no other choice but coming back as he has a contract.

Anyway, that was just an idea like that, we sent Abate on loan for years, and the result is that we have one of the best RB right now ... It took more time than for guys like Messi or Ronaldo, it needed to send the guy here and there, but at the end, he is a 100% starter in our team. Why wouldn't that work with Pato ? He is only 22 and probably doesn't care about his market value.

Exactly my point...Maybe he is not the player we though he would be. But who cares people still value him..if Pastore was valued at 40 and Sanches at 40, Pato is worth at least as much. Paris SG offered 28, but it was rejected in a blink of an eye.
Why should we risk it. Either trust him and hope he regains his confidence and become a real 40 mil player for us...or sell him while he is a priced asset.
You do not loan a player of his worth and capabilities, nobody does it and for a good reason Okmilan

EDIT: Balloteli was valued at 35 mil and he was much more troubled than Pato is ever going to be. Aguero,Silva 45mil.

Asking for Pato 40 mil (its unreal, I know) but thats how the market dictates it.

I don't think there are any similarities between Abate and Pato's situations.

Abate went on loans as an unknown youngster, and he actually went a level above while playing for Milan (I think Real Madrid game was a turning point for him).

Pato is already a star. We have always said that he is our future and if we loan him out now, it's more likely than not to break our relationship with him.

And why would we want to loan him anyway? Doing so before Tevez comes would be outright stupid. And even if Tevez comes, we need to see how he plays before passing judgement on Pato.

I agree. Thanks to the clubs like Real, Barca, Man$tty, Chelsea, Anzhi, PSG... asking 40-50 mln for Pato is not even that much.

IF Pato was sold for 40-50M and I get the guarantee that it will be spend wisely, then YES. But it is IMPOSSIBLE to get such kind of guarantee from our management. IF, just as Hitman suggested few pages ago (CMIIW), we sell him and get:
1. A "new", better Pato (like Neymar)...
2. A LB
3. A midfielder

Then YES! I will sell him as long as we got a player AT LEAST on par with WHAT WE HOPED PATO WOULD BE (and that will be only Neymar IMO), a good LB (name me a good one who costs below 10M and available) and a good midfielder, combined together with price equal with Pato sale, then YES!

But my friends, it is IMPOSSIBLE!!

Exactly Geo! But how would you explain the way we get the situation I marked in bold?

1. It is nearly impossible that there are players we need with combined price as much as Pato's sale.
2. Name me one striker as young as Pato and we can safely say he's better than Pato now, or definitely will be better?
3. Even if conditions 1 and 2 could happen, NO GUARANTEE that all of Pato's money sale will all be spent to those kind of players.

So NO, NO, let him stay and as I stated before, tell Ibra he's no king, at least not forever. It is ridiculous that when Ibra, Robinho, Cassano and Tevez start declining (I predict: at the same time) and Pato gone we're scratching our head trying to find a new young striker, knowing we already had one but we're missing him.
MILAN! MILAN! SOLO CON TE!
MILAN! MILAN! SEMPRE PER TE!

Ofcourse we will reinvest that 45m back into the market, 100% sure... why else would we need to sell Pato? Selling Pato without using the funds is stupid and ridiculous.... We are only selling him to get more funds to buy other players in important spots.

And you're asking which player will we get to replace Pato? Well, we are getting Carlitos as we speak. The way Pato's going, at best, he will reach Tevez' level... I think it's a good deal for us. Even though Tevez is 28, but we are buying him for 24m, so we are not blasting out all the potential 40m we earnt from Pato on him. With the rest of the money, we can invest into other positions as well, and not to mention there is a world-class Italian player just waiting for us to get him here - Balotelli. He is definitely worth it, but we will need to save up for him to get him here in a year or two....
