Now, they sre saying that he wants to leave in order to assure himself of a WC spot.

Who knows what's true, but it needs to be settled quick. Because we'll need time to get another back up LB if he was to leave.

Replacing deadwood shouldn't be that difficult, even in a few hours ... Angel
One should not speak ill of the dead.
So stop laughing at Juventus !
Raphael Onyedika idea has been abandoned as time is running out and FC Midtjylland are continuing to ask for at least €10m.

This is getting ridiculous.
There's no money for whatever reason. Its not like were in massive debt. But if we do only have 4m to spend which is all we offered then the quality of player we'd get will be poor.Im nor sure why buy with obligations isn't being used.As it will be the owners that would have to guarantee that perhaps?

Ziyech heading back to Ajax now reports say.Not that he's been mentioned at all recently
My honest feeling on our roster, and this is magnified a little bit with the first two games of the season, we are marginally better from a talent perspective but I don't think we are a better team than last year.

Defensively, we lost some depth with Roma gone and added nobody. We might be ok on depth because Kjaer is coming back, but we will see how he recovers from his injury first. Bigger problem here is that our defense was playing at record playing pace toward the end of last year, and it is unlikely we can replicate that performance again. As much as I like our back four, those guys can't be expected to be better than Maldini-Baresi-Costacurta-Panucci, even if they all improve individually. That level of performance simply isn't sustainable.

In the midfield, we added quantity but lost quality. Kessie is still a much better player than Pobega and Adli, and losing him for nothing hurts our overall quality. Pobega and Adli both have potential but I don't know either is capable of starting every game for us like Kessie did. Without those two stepping up and playing meaningful roles, we had to resort to Krunic starting the first second one injury hit. I think we will do fine if we are healthy but this is a major problem if we get an injury or two.

We have more options in attack, which is good, but we still haven't fixed a lot of the issues we had. RW is still lacking any quality at all, evidenced by Messias being the starter for the first two games and doing very little with his game time, as usual. CDK seems like a talented kid, but is he really ready to start every game for a CL level team at his age? If he isn't, then we will roll with the same lineup that we had from late last season, when our entire attack was basically Leao and nothing.

Overall, this team is probably no worse, maybe even a little bit better than last year's from a talented perspective. But, there are some major concerns that could doom our season. And it is certainly a very underwhelming team after what we thought our mercato would've been

Good post, but i have to disagree a little there you say thats its unlikely that we can have that kind of defence also this year. For me its an absolute yes we can. Remember that the Tomori- Kalulu partnership was established in January when Kjær got his serious injury. They are still a fresh couple, but with time the partnership will gel more and more. And look at the games until now:

- Udinese: First goal was Leao fault, very bad marking. Not any of the defenders. Second goal was a structural fault, but Messias is the one to blame hugely. The big break chance for Udinese in the first half was purely Kalulu magic that stop a 100% goal. other than that they had nothing. Great performance from the defence. Calabria with two assists, rock solid from Kalulu and Tomori. Goal and rock solid defensively from Theo. Top game from the defence actually.

- Atalanta: Their goal was Tonalis fault. You cant blame CB,s in situations like that. They defend deep there, Midfield will always have that room. Atalanta had two other chances, the one for Pasalic, but that was pretty easy for Maignan, but Hateboer, yes there it was a counting mistake, and Theo/Tomori to blame. We were lucky in that situation. Other than that? Nothing, and that is against a Atalanta side which are famous for attacking talent. It was our attack who let us down yesterday, not the defence.

My point is: Its very bald to say, but our back four is one of Europes finest. The perfect mix of pace, aggresiviness, physical presence, and ball playing talents. Who knows what the future brings, but if these four can hang together for years to come, i dont see why we can compare them to Maldini- Baresi- Costacurta- Panucci. Eventually Serginho- Maldini- Nesta- Cafu. Kalulu has so much talent that its scary at his age. He must be tied down for years to come.

Otherwise i agree with you. Kessie was more important than we think. Especially when Tonali is not up to gear it would have been lovely to throw on Kessie. Rumours says that we are building Adli into a CM. He is on a heavy nutrition plan to gain som weight to have a more physical presence. I think he could be great as a CM. Exiting times!
Would you accept 80 for Leao now? Probably not credible rumour but Chelsea apparently asked.

My point about the defense is not about the individual quality of the players. I do agree, we have something special developing between Kalulu and Tomori right now, and I absolutely think sky is the limit for them. My main point is, our defense was on a record breaking pace last year, and it is unlikely we are able to duplicate that record again, simply because it is super difficult to achieve that record. And it is not all depended on the defenders. We defended amazingly well as a team, from the pressing to the midfield to the defenders to the goalkeepers, we were just suffocating. That level of defending is almost impossible to replicate, even if our defenders still perform at high level, because it took the entire team to defend that well

Would take even 50 without thinking. But I still doubt there is club insane enough to give 80M for him Big Grin
Avaiting for arrival of exorcist into our boardroom.

Well there is the all important question. If we sell, fans will turn on the management and ownership. If we don't (and can't agree a renewal), tha obviously he walks in 2 years. Again, fans turn on managemebt and ownership.

I would sell anyone, IF adequate replacement can be brought in. At this moment, that can't be done. No matter how much money Chelsea pays. So for that reason, I wouldn't sell.

But, we have to know FAR in advance if a renewal is possible. That for me would be this winter. After that, if no agreement, I'd sell. Even for 50. And work on an adequate replacement.

But that's just the thing. We ARE sustaining thst level of press. As a matter of fact, we are even doing it better and more intensely this year (so far). There is always a weird period in a season when small incidents seems to always go against you. Point being, the 2 Udinese goals. And even the Atalanta goal yesterday. But all in all, it's been superbly impressive how little we allowed to both Atapabta and Udinese. We did exactly what you described - we suffocated them.
Di Marzio: Milan are pushing for Bordeaux midfielder Jean Onana. His agents will be in Bordeaux tomorrow to try close the deal. Milan try to sign him on loan with option to buy but are also willing to buy him for €5-6M, Bordeaux willing to accept the bid.
