Winter mercato 2023

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport Bakayoko could have moved to Olympiacos who seemed keen on welcoming his services but instead the summer transfer market closed last night in Greece.

Pioli has no plans of using the former Monaco man and the management wanted to offload his €2.5m salary, but Bakayoko will now remain at Milan at least until January.

Ridiculous.

Seriously, that person who agreed with Chelsea for Bakayoko loan terms should be punished with deducting 3 months salary...
Avaiting for arrival of exorcist into our boardroom.

The point of good team building must be just as much, if not more, about knowing lots about the player before signing him. Character being one of the issues to scout and I am positive it is easier to spot character issues than some might think.
Two months after Andre Silva signed supposedly he missed the beach, few months after signing Kerkez we find out he wants first team football. This is not sustainable for a team that struggles for a few million. It is not just ok to lose these players, even if there is profit on the balance books, remember some of these moves are not actual profits but are just for accounting and UEFA purposes.

I think we sign Kerkez for 200k and sold him for 2m. That is 1.8m gain in 12months. We need to do that more often.  Icon_lol2

He was legit the closest thing we had for sub-Theo, gave up so early without even giving him a chance,

He didn't even play for 6 months after joining AZ Alkmaar, deem not good enough to play for AZ Alkmaar then. Suddenly he is good enough to play for us? Put him inside our team and he will look worse than FBT.

There has to be an understanding. If the club told him he is not ready for the first team (he was NOT, and he still isn't......AZ and the Eredivisie is nowhere near the Serie A level - apart from 3 clubs) and he chose not to listen to that.....what are we supposed to do?? Maldini told Kalulu to take the 1st 6 months and learn. He did that. Even than, when he played, he made some crucial mistakes and was criticized for them.....even called out to go on a loan because he wasn't ready.

In any case, let's wait and see. Hauge also had a good opening 2-3 months....and now is in Belgium. There have been others. Too many to list actually. We'll see if Kerkez can #1 keep this up and #2 even more importantly, do it against better competition.

Sometimes, it's not so much that we gave up on the player....but maybe more that the player gave up on us. It's easy for that to happen with Kerkez and even understandable. When you see a 24 year old Theo as the left back in front of you....chances will come few and far between. Some players are willing to learn, fight for the position, take their time, etc. Some are not. Kerkez didn't want that and probably thought Primavera was beneath him. Maybe it was. I don't know. But it seems to me in this situation, getting some cash isn't such a bad option when you consider the alternative is countless loans until his deal expires.
Kerkez was NOT going to be good enough to take over Theo in the near future. To us fans, it sounds great to have him as a back up. But not everyone is willing to be a back up. So you have to find a solution.

While we may never know the truth, I tend to agree with you. Kerkez apparently wasn't ready for first-team action and I am sure that the management communicated that clearly to him. Should he choose to stay, wait, and grow, he might have his chance. He didn't want to, so he left. Good luck to him, but no big deal for us. No need to cry over spilled milk.

Cheers. Smile

Should have put a buy back option. Its not rocket science

Maybe the player didn't want it. Maybe the management didn't think he was worth it. Everything happens for a reason.

I want everyone on Earth to succeed in their career. However, I'm not sure if Kerkez will be better than Ballo-Toure. The Senegalese started for Lille and Monaco, then became Serie A Champion and Africa Champion Big Grin

Pioli has built a stable hierarchy system, players should follow it. Kalulu is a good example of rising to the top gradually.

So thats Maldini. Dont you think he doesnt deserve such punishment?
Before he arrived our wage bill was 100m higher and we always finished midtable and we were the laughing stock of Italy and europe.
Now we have the youngest and most talented team in Italy and probably also Europe, won a scudetto and our wage bill is only half that of our opponents.
Transfers are hit and miss, but mostly MMM have been spot on! Also remember the budget they have to work with, for 10m they have to sign 3-4 players, so they have to take gambles at times, no other way around.
