There was also Redondo, we bought as "best midfilder" but failed miserably. Might even add Kaka there, as well. But... all those guys showed something in their previous clubs. What Emerson showed? One goodish season at Betis, played 3 games for Barcelona... than mediocre at Spurs for years. Of course there is some chance he could do well here, but I also see why people are sceptic (me included) that will happen.

Redondo's Milan career was ruined by injury even before playing a single match for us. Was injured in training and out for two and a half years and was never the same great player he used to be after that.
"In 2000, Redondo transferred to Serie A club A.C. Milan in a controversial £11m move: he stated that he was not involved in transfer discussions and expressed his desire to stay at Madrid. In response, a section of Real Madrid supporters gathered outside the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium protesting the transfer. However, he suffered a serious knee injury in one of his first training sessions for his new team, and was unable to play for the next 2 + 1⁄2 years; he suspended his £2.74m-a-year salary, and even tried to give back the house and car which the Milan board had given him.
Redondo did manage to contribute (albeit in a peripheral role) to Milan's successes in the 2002–03 and 2003–04 seasons, making a combined 16 league appearances and adding five in the 2002–03 Champions League and six in the same edition of the Coppa Italia, including the two-legged final. Marco Pellegrino loaned to Independiente. Very likely a 3.5 million lost, I hope this is the last year we do these pointless deals, use the Futuro properly please.

Refused to pay for Califiori as Moncada blew the load on Pellegrini instead. What a wise move that turned out to be.

Under contract until June 2029, he made 34 appearances for Nottingham Forest last season, scoring three goals and providing two assists. Moretto maintains the deal can be done for under €25m, with Milan expected to ask for a loan with option to buy at the end of the season.

What kind of logic is that? It's ok to buy from RB Salzburg or Brescia or Lille or Dynamo Kiev or Empoli, but not Nottingham Forest?
Players have to start somewhere, there are many great players that have made their way to the top step by step.
Not saying Danilo is or will be a top player, because I don't know him at all. Just saying that in general there are many routes for players to get to play at the highest level.
Juventus have made a loan with option to buy bid for Pierre Kalulu. €3m for the loan + €14m option to buy next summer.
