I remember the 96-97 and 97-98 seasons. All my friends were telling me that Milan will never recover. It'll take years and years. Then the following season we won the Scudetto with probably the most underwhelming team of them all. 7 points behind Lazio with 7 games to go. Everyone considered it over. Then, we won. It's one of my best memories.

Maldini is a true symbol of the club. He has been associated with the club for as long as I've been alive. I don't know a Milan without Maldini. Still,even he knows, then Milan is above everything and above everyone. And when the time comes to be judged, everyone will be, including Maldini himself.

But one thing is absolutely for sure with no question whatsoever. Everything he does, is for the good of Milan. There are very few people in football like Maldini. Gotta say...as much traveled as he's been, Gattuso is another one. The club he works for/plays for, always comes first. These are men of stature. Men of principles. And I hate to bring this up in this thread because it doesn't deserve to be....but the fact we did what we did with Maignan and Donnarumma, is because what Donnarumma and Raiola did was without principles. Without consideration for the club. And Maldini stepped in to make make sure the club will not be exploited by anyone.

The boy scored on his debut. Coppa Italia. Last goal of the 5 in 5-1 win.

His brother seems to settle down in Serie C.

Seeing 2 Maldinis at Serie B and C is a bit uneasy.

Is he really turning into a real player this year? In fact I felt he was given to few chances last year, but now get to play. After scoring against us in that last friendly he had a great game against Fiorentina were he scored and easily could have scored another one as he hit the post.

The boy is similar to Locatelli, Christante... , hard to get proper chance at Milan in younger years but could be helpful when matured.

Maldini is in positional crisis. He is neither a traditional CM nor AM, can score goals and has good defending calibre might improve in that in near future. From my perspective he would be well suited as RM or RWB than CM or AM.

He lacks the physical specs: speed, stamina, agility, jumping height... while technical specs are good but not exceptional.
So he could play at every position but it is hard to excel. IMO, he is quite similar to Charles De Ketelaere.
An attacker with one/two partners and less responsible for defending (to preserve energy) could be the best position for him
