Man how I wish we had 90s/ealy 00s Berlu now. Barcelona is literally dying to offload Frenkie De Jong. I'd give that guy whatever salary he wants. He'd instantly be the best CM in the league, and will be so for at least another 4/5 years. Another pipe dream, I know.
As for Verratti...man this was my favorite midfielder in the 2010s. Just loved watching him play. Kind of sucks he spent his entire career in Ligue 1. Yea, made a shit ton of money and won domestic leagues.....but in all honesty, nobody cares about Ligue 1 outside if France. Not sure even PSG cares about it tbh. Their entire investment was to win a CL.
Anyway, at 32, he should still be a top player. But I'm afraid he's "been on vacation in Qatar" for 18 months collecting more of those paychecks. Can't say I blame him. But his mindset was that he didn't even care about losing his place in the Italian National Team just so he can go to Qatar and collect. So from that perspective, I really don't know what kind of player (mentally) we'd be getting and is he even in a state of mind/motivation to compete in a top league anymore?
I do think he'll come to Serie A at some point before he retires. Just so that as an Italian, he can actually experience playing in the league. But again, not sure how much of an influence he's have at this point.

Verratti brings up experience that we need in the midfield, he commands the midfield like no one in our squad, press resistant, creativity, he can solve a bit of our problems. I don't vouch for Ligue 1 starlets as they don't bring the immediate effect which we need to salvage already a car crash season and time and time we have shown that Milan Management doesn't have enough patience, like in case of Adli. The Question arises, does Verratti have enough grinta left in him? But from start of his career he had nonchalant personality, he is just like that we can't do anything but his addition means a lot if possible.
Tomori can be sold in January, it's controversial take but he has fallen behind Gabbia and Thiaw, his price is dipping, it's best moment to get some money.

Verratti is the one player of the last decade as far as midfielders that I wish we had signed. Knowing he was in Ligue 1 was painful to watch tbh. His Euro performance when Italy won, I don't think he put a single foot wrong. He played at the level of Xavi & Iniesta that campaign which went to show what he could've done throughout his career.. I would take him in a heartbeat - his age doesn't scare me as much as like you said he's been playing lower tier football and enjoying the beach $$ too much perhaps.
What happened to the good old Galliani style installment deals? Have they become illegal or something? Why not buy De Jong for 50-60m in 4 installments haha

I've always been against selling key pieces of this squad, especially without having a "ready-made replacement" in the squad itself.
With that said, selling in itself isn't a huge problem. The problem is/can be what comes afterwards. So...
1) is that money going to be reinvested? I am confident it will be as this ownership have shown that in the past with Tonali's money.
2) HOW is it going to be reinvested? Not as confident here. The Tonali money (or part of it) in 2023 went to Pulisic and Reijnders (good), but also to Chuk, Okafor and RLC (horrible).
If we sell Theo, we first and foremost will need to get a LB. We don't have anyone in the squad that can replace him.we don't even have a natural backup for him, let alone a ready-made replacement. Jimenez needs to be used on the right. He's not a LB. Sure, he can do at job there until Jine (maybe)...but still, we'd need to buy a LB this summer at the latest.

Terrible. We can’t continue to strengthen our rivals. Sell Tomori and Alexis to other leagues. Then package money and RLC to Newcastle for Tonali and find a way to bring in Ricci. We will now have the best midfield in serie a with a 3 man midfield of Fofana, Tonali and Tijiani and Ricci as a backup for now.
