After Milan raised their bid, Brugge contacted Premier League clubs about Jashari’s availability. They hope to start a bidding war for the Swiss midfielder. However, Jashari only wants Milan and has already rejected a move to England.

But once that price was met, they went on and asked for more because there were EPL clubs willing to pay more. The club is refusing to do so due to #1) matter of principle and #2) the player had refused those options anyway.

I've shit on this ownership and management as well and they've surely deserved it. But if the above is true, then I understand their standpoint. The only annoying part is that they are not moving on from this deal. Jist move on and that's it. Although, they might also be trying to do right by the player and respect our agreement with him and his agents...since he's done the same with us.

This negotiation has gone on for too long. Jashari and Milan don’t have any leverage other than the player wanting to come. He just signed a contract in January keeping him in Belgium until 2029. Maybe he’s good but if he’s not in our budget or negotiations aren’t going well, just move on and stop wasting time. We could have signed Guerra weeks ago for less and already been on to finding a LB and RB then a striker. Terrible time management by this lot. 

Also, I  hate the Estupinan signing. I think he’s going to be in the stands most of the season. Should have gotten De Cuyper and Dodo/Doue for our fullbacks. Tare hasn’t done anything good so far.

De Cuyper would have been another version of CDK and Jashari. Shouldn't even bother, the same way we should have walked away from Jashari negotiations the day our preseason began, if not earlier.

It was other way around, fee was agreed, than we "politely asked" to be lowered for 2-3 millions more. It was relatively recently, but forgot which player exactly.

The pettiness of Brugge is unprecedented. I swear that even if we offered 40M right now, they would still find a way to reject (or worse, ignore). Was that report of their CEO asking for reputational damage several weeks back even real? I thought that it was a satire to be honest. Certainly, their captain doing the SD job was unprofessional and unkind as hell. Even Scaroni's senility and blabbermouth can't match that. 

At this point, I don't want us to just walk away. Do nothing too. Brugge isn't in an easy situation either because they know that they have burned all the bridges and the player hates them. Their only hope is that another PL team comes forward and offer 40M but for the player and agent to accept, Milan must not have given up by then.

Not sure stereotype is an insensitive thing to say, but few of my Balkan friends are all feisty and do things out of principles (i.e. irrational ), and I have a feeling that Tare and Jashari have mutual respect and understanding, and more importantly, mutual trust that they will not abandon each other. This issue will not get resolved easily. Brugge is spiteful and petty so it will last until the final moment--if resolved at all.

Jashari is not worth 40M. He may turn into one in a few years in a different league, but not right now. The bid is fair. Brugge is within their right to insist wanting 40M. However, I think they are overplaying their hands too. They certainly are cocky enough to burn all the bridges so far. Could we and should we have increased the bid? Probably, but at this point, it is indeed turning into a matter of principles and dignity. I am not Balkan but I fully understand and fully subscribe. I don't think we need to go for another midfieder now. Allegri can do his job well with current ones since there is only a game a week and we do have enough quantity and decent quality. Jashari, if he comes (either September or January), doesn't need to be rushed into the lineup either, and there is no pressure because it is Modric. 

On a related (or unrelated) note, I never liked Brugge. They had something indirectly to do with our 1990-1991 failure to achieve three-peak in EC. The two legs in Round of 16 were a dogfight. The second leg the foul statistics were 34:6 (I wonder if that was a record) and yet van Basten got a red card and had to miss both legs against OM. More recently in 2003-2004, the two CL group matches were both nasty and pyrrhic.
