Milan's Financial Position
The numbers certainly look healthy enough. Eventually though, I suspect that the wage would have to go back up in order to consistently win or challenge for trophies.

The key word is 'consistently'--and I suspect that we may want to go Dortmund/Porto/Ajax style, then it is a totally different story. Of course, they wouldn't go down to 8th, so last season we were just out of world bad.

Frankly I don't mind the first bold part, we are not at 90s anymore. And for the second bold part, true, this group of managers didn't know about football, though their financial skills are very capable.

At least they make a good choice in hiring Tare, then Allegri. I hope the keys like Furlani and Ibra can learn from it, as I believe they have Milan in their heart.

You don't mind what? Being mediocre as those clubs? Big Grin So what if it's "not 90s anymore"? There are examples of clubs which still win trophies and constantly challenging CL despite not being in the 90s anymore?

When we got down to 8th, we weren't even mediocre.  Icon_lol2 When we are in the crapper, I don't mind mediocrity--it is an improvement. Grinundwech

I don't think we can dream of 8th (that good 8th Heart) when we ended last season with 8th (the bad one).

But we didn't had to go to 8th. That's consequence of being cheap. We were champions (luckily or not, but team was competitive), had CL semifinal (same can be applied), finances were doing more then just fine, but then... we decide not to invest, not to build on that team. We already had "almost full glass" and we broke it into pieces. No reason to be happy with "half full glass" now, because that's actually downgrade on what we had just few years ago. Worst part is that it's not "bad circumstances" or whatever which "forced" us to go that way... no, it was our willing choice. Completely unnecessary... So, yeah, they all, boards and managers with their "skills" can F-off from this club...

By mentioning Dortmund/Porto/Ajax style, I mean being competitive for Serie A while advancing as far as possible in CL is acceptable for Milan by now.

Last season was a mess, no baseline from that Big Grin

I agree. Maldini, Massara and Boban were doing great. Finances were good and we were competitive. Maldini and Massara wanted to continue building a successful project by adding players to make us better and ultimately Gerry the Clown wanted to make more than we already were. He doesn’t understand that results bring trophies, trophies bring money and prestige, money and prestige brings top players, top players bring results, etc. It’s a cycle which RedBird doesn’t understand.

We could have kept Tonali and Reijnders and not needed to spend on the midfield. We could have sold other useless players and focused our funds from CL and the league someone else in more need like a striker or fullback. Our midfield starts could have potentially of been Leao Tijiani and Pulisic with Tonali and Fofana as the defensive midfielders

That figure from Football Manager might be a bit misleading. Milan aren’t completely debt-free, but their financial position is a lot stronger than it used to be. The club’s owners have restructured previous loans and balanced the books quite well - so while there’s still some debt, it’s more of a strategic investment than a financial gamble.
In other words, Milan’s current debts are part of normal football finances, not the kind of risky gambling that got some clubs into trouble in the past. It’s a controlled situation rather than a warning sign.
