Forget Ramos. We don't need him. The only purchase we shpuld be looking to make (if there are good options) is a CF.

I would take Ramos for a free transfer in a heart beat. Another winner and leader in the dressing room. I wouldn’t waste the time if we had to negotiate a transfer fee. But yes I agree, we need a proper striker (possibly Mateta) and cover for Saelemakers.

Allegri's demand is clear: a CF and a backup RWB, but what's good about him is he has already prepared for the case of unfulfillment.

Leao & Pulisic scored 5 each and present at 3rd position on topscorer board of Serie A. The duo is quite: one small & fast and one big & strong. They can carry out the main task.
Gimenez & RLC can help in luring the defenders.

Tomori has been trained for a RWB very early, he now has an early cross & one low cross for Leao slotted in. And De Winter can play RCB.

So IMO, maybe another good CB is what we need, not CF or RWB as is is hard to find good CFs or wingbacks in the winter market; we could get another Gimenez while Leao & Pulisic are still sure starters.

We only sign backups, not starters in this winter, so no need to be hasty.

Have we given up on Athekame already? He is there to back up Saele. He's had some rough moments, but also some decent ones. He hasn't had the chance to play much so growth will be slow coming. But what other RWB that's better (and/or more ready) can we realistically expect to get in January? 

As for a CB, KDW is a good back up. It's tough to get into the team now as the season has been very fragmented due to the international breaks. On top of that, only Serie A games on the calendar. So Allegri has settled on the CB slots and I don't anticipate we'll see much rotation there. With that said, I hope we see KDW on Thursday. 
But in terms of another purchase, I guess at this point we could bring in a 5th choice (emergency) CB. But can't Odogu be that?

It’s not that we’ve given up on him, but he’s just not ready yet. He comes from the Swiss league so it’s a huge adjustment coming to Italy. I think he’s got decent potential but not yet. 

Same goes for Odogu. If we bring in Ramos, he will mentor the rest of the defenders and be a reference point. I just hope he leaves out the “how to get a red card” lesson.
