True, but the point is, big signing alone does not guarantee success. Without a clear idea and vision, it's worth nothing. Short-sighted management often see this as a quick way to success but they fail to win anything at the end. Inter of the 90's is a perfect example. They have the money to spend but no idea of what they're doing (they bought Ronaldo, Zamorano, Roberto Carlos, Seedorf, etc.). Madrid almost fell into this trap a few years ago but lucky for them they brought in Mourinho to align their strategy and kicked out Valdano.
Going back to Milan of the 98, other than the 'big names' factor, the scudetto was also won because of the new idea brought by Zacheroni with his fresh 3-4-3, (although it became obsolete the next year).
We were lucky in 1998-99. Juventus and Inter underperformed; Fiorentina peaked too early and Batigol was injured in a bad time; Lazio had a super team but we got the momentum in the right time and got help from Juventus, Roma, and Fiorentina exactly when we needed them. It was an amazing journey, but that can't be duplicated again; and don't forget we had Weah, Bierhoff, Boban, Costacurta, and Maldini.

I can't say much about those times because although ive always followed milan i was like 5 years old, following milan was forced on me by my dad whos a bigger fan then i am and now its pretty much my life, but if i had to choose our best season in my memory i'd have to say 2003 when we beat juve in CL. My favourite player and will always remain my favourite player is sheva. My dad always tells me about players like weah,van basten,gullit rijkard but I don't really remember them since i was born in '94.. I wish we can find a player like shevchenko seriously i think it would be our saviour.. milan and in particular sheva kept me playing soccer from a kid until now and kept me motivated and its payed off.. Now my favourite players would have to be prince pato and els, i like fast players playing for milan and i try to immitate them even though i play left wing and i honestly could not stand pirlo because he was slow even if he was creative and all, i also didn't like cassano very much.
I think we need to remodel our team into a fast fast fast team. Soccer is getting faster paced, even in canada.. so many dudes try out for my team and if they're slow my coach doesn't even look at them there just so frusturating. Players like flamini however even if they can run he still pisses me off because he cant properly control a ball if his life depended on it so it slows down our play.. I really wanted ibra gone because he wasnt fast and it made me nervous even though he was undeniably half our team, now that he's gone i guess i took it for granted because i wish we still had him
We should play a 4-3-3 like barca style with two wingers and a striker in the middle, pato/pazzo then els/robinho for the wings + an addition like shaqiri or something.. My most desirable player is robben, i always practice his style of play but how he cuts in with the ball is impossible its so measured and perfect but its too bad hes injury prone and getting past his prime now or man i'd love to have him on milan.
Well... Sheva is one of my most favorite player too. I do see Dzeko as perfect Sheva replacement which just wont happen. Signing Dzeko will make me feel like having the younger Shevchenko again.

I'm not a whiner, but freakin West Ham signs a player for GBP 10mio and now Sunderland signs 2 players for GBP 24mio!!!....just saying that politicians in Italy need to wake up and help Serie A get back on level terms. I know Italy is in no position to decrease taxes on players' salaries right now for example but some help in the stadia issue at least would be a good start.

Anyway this is going to happen sooner rather than later. He's a player in demand and on his final year, so unless he already signed some pre-contract for us, other clubs will try to lure him out while Kojak trying to save up every cent and dime.
