I suspect he's telling the truth, as both players have shown maturity at youth levels and appear to be ready to play at senior level. For the Italy under 18s of late, both have been standout players from what I understand. Also, the club have apparently rejected offers for Cristante of late.
The biggest suggestion they'll be promoted imo is they were called up for the Coppa or CL league game not too long ago, meaning it's clear the club has faith in their ability.
Cristante particularly interests me.
I think Cristante and Petagna are ready for some first team action here and there for the remainder of this season. Next season more, depending on performances maybe even a lot. Now is the time to give our promising youngsters some first team action.
Niang,ELS,DS still remain our most promising prospects, but Cristante and Petagna are more probable than not to be great players in the future. Saponara will also be one of our top prospects.
Petagna will find it difficult this year to find any space. Niang is already struggling for play time and is performing really well, so Petagna will be further down the pecking order. Cristante could possibly find more room as we lack alternatives for Montolivo anyway, but I don't think we need to push him if he's got duties with the Primavera.

I agree with post above. It could be harder for Petagna to get games from Allegri since there are enough experienced players there with quality like Robinho, Pazzini, Bojan, Boateng or even Emanuelson and very talented ones plus elder than Petagna like Shaarawy and Niang. All have quality not like in the midfield where we have only one creative midfielder and from all midfield only some of them have quality. The competition in midfield position seems bigger due to the number of midfielders we have compared to the competition in forward department but IMO the reality is the quality competition is weaker in midfield.
About Cristante, like you said it seems he is indispensable player for Primavera and the team really need him. Otherwise he should get games with senior team seeing how we do need proper CM for Milan.

I read that Valoti has been loaned to Albinoleffe, why the hell do we loan him to a Serie C team? Why not Serie B? He is a talented player and can better improve in a stronger league.

A small but noteworthy bit of news from yesterday's friendly. Cristante came on for Montolivo during the match to play in midfield and post match was kept behind for personal training from Tassotti. Clearly, he's being groomed to be more involved in the first team next season.

I know we're a powerful club in Italy, but forcing a club to take him would be worthless as he wouldn't play one single game then ...
It's better playing in Serie C on a regular basis than being on the bench or in the stands in Serie B ...
