In the summer Galliani "promoted" two young players to first team: Cristante and Petagna. One was sent away on loan and one was sent back to primavera. Just confirms once again how much Galliani's word can be trusted.

Granted not the best of lineups, but talent is plenty there, they know our setup and our philosophies..... and I haven't even mentioned Verdi, Calvano, Ganz, Kingsly Boateng, Hottor, Innocenti, Beretta or Salamon....

We could have come out with an entirely homegrown team that would probably accept lower wages AND play with more heart than all the crap that we've seen in the past couple of months!

If all these players were our first team, we would probably play not to be relegated and we, the fans, would complain there's been no investment (not that we don't complain for bad investment anyway).

But most of these players could be good for the bench, better than what we have for most (Paloschi instead of Matri, Petagna instead of Robinho, Merkel instead of Nocerino, never rated Strasser really well so I won't replace any player with him, Astori instead of any of our current defenders, and Darmian is more a RB, so instead of Zaccardo/Bonera), and we could see interesting things from them, with a better progression than what they have had, if playing with better players than what they do nowadays.

ELS, Kaka' and Balotelli would probably make Paloschi and Petagna look good when used with the previous players.
Same for Merkel with Monto, Poli or De Jong.
I don't see Darmian as a huge improvement in our team, though he would be a very good backup for Abate (Darmian is more defensive minded, even if he finally starts to go forward and seems to do it well), and Astori wouldn't be that better than our current defenders, but at least he would probably be more disciplined, especially from a tactical point of view, compared to a player like Zapata for example, and as a consequence, would still improve our defence.

The point is that while I wouldn't like having that team as first team in Milan, having all these players (for free as coming from our Primavera for most of them) on the bench would help us to invest on one or two good players we really need as no money would be spent on useless players and our budget would be higer ... And who knows, if each season, one of these young players, starting on the bench, improves so much that he ends as a first team player, then, that's 100% profit for us.

My original point is that we are now giving our youngsters almost no chance at all, which is certainly unhealthy and unsustainable, and disturbing (to hear Galliani lie again and again, on everything too). I do agree with Geo that no ambitious team would use only their own products. Even Barfa who could probably do so and still pull off success aren't doing that. They would splash cash on Ronaldinho, Deco, Neymar, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Dmytro Chygrynskiy (well, sometimes just for the sake of killing cash, I guess :d).

I'm starting to get really annoyed that Cristante isn't playing.. Damn it every minute I've seen of the kid I've been impressed, even with the 1st team, and yet even with all these shit results and our starting midfielders playing like crap we still haven't seen him play. I mean, what do we have to lose? Allegri must be a pure idiot when you think about it, 80% of our games this season we've been down (losing or tied) in the final 10-15 minutes, yet he would prefer to put on someone like Emanuelson etc., why not just throw Cristante out there..
