4 year contract with a 32 year old injury prone player. Sounds crazy! At his best he's a great player, but he hasn't even played 1/3 of Manchester Uniteds matches the last 3 years...
Buying Vidic, especially on a 4 year deal, only further confirms my post from earlier that we're run by idiots.
I think Vidic is still probably better than the rest of our CB's (not too hard!) but he's getting worse, and isn't the player he once was. Jonny Evans has been United's best CB this season, which shows you how much Vidic is getting on...
Just read a really good Chinese article about CRonaldo and Rooney. He compares how those two were viewed back in 2006 and how they turned out now....
Whats interesting was the part about Cantona, the ManU legend. As in 2006, Cantona gave an interview about what he thought of those two and what they needed to do to succeed and realize their full potential. Funny enough, Rooney did exactly what Cantona said he should not do(such as partying) and CRonaldo did exactly what Cantona said he should do(build up strength, work on finishing....) They also interview former coaches and trainers at ManU and they all stated Rooney is a footballer who just wants to play football and wont train in the off season, while CRonaldo is someone who works extremely hard and trains 24/7 as well as always doing more than the coaches asked.
Which brings me to the importance of having someone like Maldini, Albertini or Boban as a Director of Personal or Director of Players Development, bc those guys know what it takes(work, talents, discipline in personal life...) for players to reach their full potential and stay at the top level and beyond. On top of that, if you are a young arrogant talented player, it is very easy for them to go off the track but by having legends like Maldini, those players will listen b/c lets face it Maldini is the best LB ever to play the game and pretty much won and seen anything.
