Summer Mercato

Guys like Matri, Birsa and Nocerino aren't of the quality expected at Milan, but realistically are good players for what is expected to be a midtable side in Torino. It's very unlikely they will be targeting European places again next season, but these players would help give experience in Europe and offer them competitiveness in the league.

They are about to sell Immobile to Dortmund for around 20m and while Matri's not of the same quality, he would offer an alternative, especially as they risk losing their whole first choice attack. Birsa would offer some creativity, which will be lacking if they lose Immobile and Cerci, with only El Kaddouri really looking like a player to offer something. Finally, Nocerino is a really hardworking professional, which should fit well with Ventura's aggressive style of play.

This would give them some support in rebuilding should they lose their two stars (as well as potentially Darmian), as well as a healthy chunk of money to reinvest in the odd player of higher quality to try and grow.

The problem is not that they are not good enough for Torino, but they are too expensive for Torino. Birsa is on a rather low salary (in Milan standard), Matri is paid more than 2.5M (net) per year. I doubt Nocerino is paid low either. Torino won't be able to afford them, and those players will not want to take a pay cut and go there permanently.
Noce is on €1.5m so combined Noce & Matri would cost around €8m thats prob close to Toros wage bill haha Sad poor us.
Past is done. Summer 2013 better have been the last time for silly and stupid signings and contracts. I am almost certain we are finished already but any more of this stuff and the 'finish' part will be more cemented for longer.
New TV deals in 2015/16 for UCL I was reading would have a team like Milan used to be last 16 or quarter finals (It really hurt writing that) could make €60-75M...We are going to be so far out of the hunt if this summer is as bad as I think it will be.
Theres more and more money in football these days and Milan are nowhere to be seen Sad

You can't trust Galliani, unfortunately, if history tells us anything. At the same time he was moaning about no money, he brought in Matri; and while people expected him to fix things, he brought in Essien. Both are paid very handsome salary too.

Many times I have said, Galliani cannot fix the problem. He is the problem. We are not finished, I mean, we are not finished going down. We are on the highway to hell.
From Calciomercato. Look especially at the bold part...: Devilol

"As already explained, the appointment of Filippo Inzaghi as their first team’s coach could change the transfer market strategies of AC Milan, and those players who seemed intended to leave could finally remain at “San Siro”: according to the Corriere dello Sport, for example, 27 year old right back Ignazio Abate could finally extend his deal with the rossoneri, actually expiring in June 2015. On the contrary, the future of 32 year old attacking midfielder Kaka remains uncertain: as reported by Lancenet, Sao Paulo president Carlos Miguel Aidar has met the former Real Madrid player, even if, according to the same media, a transfer of the Brazil international to the MLS is a more credible option. Even for this reason, the Lombard club –according to diariosp.com- is ready to swoop again on the Tricolor 24 year-old Paulo Henrique Ganso, whose 23-million euros termination clause Milan Chief Executive Adriano Galliani is ready to pay. Meanwhile, interviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, 21 year old goalkeeper Gabriel Vasconcellos Ferreira has declared that Galliani himself has confirmed him for the next season."
Yeah, another link regarding that of Ganso:

Geez, I know I wanted this guy a lot a couple of years ago (I still think he's a very special talent), he's not done anything to warrant trying to get him now. If anything, he's regressed and has only done things to question mental strength/attitude.

There's apparently going to be another meeting between Silvio, Galliani and Inzaghi at Arcore today to discuss the market:

http://www.milannews.it/rassegna-stampa/...rte-145979

In this, Inzaghi will propose his ideas on what he needs and who can be sold in the market. Apparently, in the coming week we'll ask Bronzetti to speak to Valencia about Rami. Robinho is expected to be sold, while Kaka and Pazzini are wanted but expected to be kept. The biggest discussion point in this meeting is likely to be Balotelli.

As I said in the headcoach thread, while I'm still doubtful, if there's truth to all this then we might be actually seeing a project put in place at the club. I also have to say it's actually positive to see Berlusconi actively involved in all of these discussions, as as much as I hate to say it, as owner he's needed more than ever to start taking control. I also think it's interesting that he doesn't seem as actively involved in Barbara's area of control, but is taking control and actively working in the areas where Galliani is meant to be in control.

Well if we're looking to do a part exchange, then Torino might be prepared to pay a little extra on salary (Birsa may not need to). Likewise, I can see a guy like Nocerino reducing his salary for regular playing time, because in all honesty, he's never been one to cause issues. The problem is Matri imo.

But you and Jay have a point, it's the reason we're have the problems we do.

It's not so much the link to Ganso that makes me laugh, it's the part where it says that Galliani is ready to pay €23 million... Did he win the big lottery?
Ganso is worth twice Matri so it makes sense

</sarcasm>
Why dont Milan just have more faith in their youngsters than guys lije Essien, Matri, Nocerino and others.
Niang is a much better forward than Matri, since he xan actually dribble and score.
Cristante can be as good as any CM in SerieA as long as he plays.
Saponora, at the very least can be a solid player.
THEN youvhave the superstars in SES and DES
