I only watched the last 20 mins or so. Fate has been cruel to Gerrard these last two months. First his slip costed Pool the league title (and inspired many "this does not fucking slip" memes), and now the ball bounced off him and led to Suarez' second goal.

His first slip in 2005 caused us a penalty. So let him slip. I am in bitter mood now.

England were disappointing yesterday. The team played right into Uruguay's hand in that they played too narrow (Wellbeck who should have been wide came in) and Rooney, at least in the first half, was extremely static and barely a threat.
Uruguay anticipated this and controlled the game in midfield, playing 4-3-1-2. Cavani was exceptional in the system as he dropped back to help in midfield, completely dominating the England side. Hodgeson's changes helped, but ultimately I must say they fell flat straight after equalising, losing focus and not coping with the solid structure Tabarez (who switched to 4-4-1-1 to cope with the movement of Rooney and the additional width). It was a rather flat performance and given Uruguay were left dazed after Costa Rica and England were optimistic following the Italy game, it was surprising how little dominance England had. Xu, while Perreira showed his "fighting spirit" I felt his decision was stupid. A head injury like that in such a sensitive spot is extremely dangerous, moreso because while the athlete may not realise the problem initially, the damage internally could be fatal. The team doctor was totally right to try and get him off and Perreira should have come to get himself checked out. After all, his life is surely more valuable than a game a football.

One of the man of the monent in the football world this year has been Godin. Sensational defending and commitment by him. Kind of remind me Cannavaro, not in ters of class, but commitment considering his relatively small stature for a defensive player.
