It seems we are more and morel inked with Montolivo who said he wouldn't renew his contract with Fiorentina (end of contract in 2012), what means he wants to leave.
I really think the guy can be taken cheaply, for example 8M, and we should go for him because he would improve our squad (not necessarely the first team, but the whole squad, and it's what we need if we really want to compete on all fronts).
Let's imagine Montolivo (coming from the bench unless he steps up), Hamsik (starter) and a third midfielder (an AM !! Ganso, Pastore, or whoever else who is quite young and already has a good level) come, I think we would be set for next year in midfield ...

I agree with you Geo, Montolivo for a cheap price is very good business. I'm far from his biggest fan, mostly because I don't think he has the character or presence on the field to dominate matches, which is important for a player in his role. That said, he's a very talented player who would add depth to our squad at the very least. He's also a two way midfielder and the sort that Allegri likes to use, with a good long shot too, so could be extremely useful in our squad.

We should take CR and Messi too if they are cheap. The problem is that neither of them are. Neither is Montolivo. Fiorentina is a "motivated seller", so the price might start low, but ultimately demand for the player will drive the price up to something high. We need to spend our money on a player that fits our system and I don't think Montolivo fits our team.
Raiola says that Hamsik is not the target for Milan this summer. Disappointing. But at the same time, Raiola's comments sound like someone big is on the way.
Let me be clear about my views on Seedorf. Does he still have a lot of quality left? Yes. But enough to be in our starting XI with our expectations to get far in UCL? No.
If Seedorf were willing to take a pay cut on a one year contract and be willing to be a squad player, then by all means let's sign him now. The problem is that he won't agree to that. He still believes he's first-team-caliber. His assessment of himself I believe far outweighs the assessment of most of us fans and probably Milan's management. Reading between the lines, I think Milan offered Seedorf an extremely heavily weighted performannce type contract with very little guaranteed money. The idea is that Milan will only pay what the player produces. That can be the only explanation for seedorf wanting to talk to Allegri - he wanted some guarantee from the coach that he will be in our starting XI. With that guarantee, Seedorf would probably meet the performance critieria and make big money from Milan. But like any wise coach, Allegri made no promise. That's why I'm thinking Seedorf will leave. He'd rather stay, but guaranteed money from another club might be too much for him to resist.

Really doesn't look like Hamsik will happen. I think the only hope might be if Cassano (who is supposed to meet with Galliani on Wednesday) wants out. Then maybe Milan can discuss the potential trading of Cassano + money for Hamsik. Other than that - there's little hope.
Preziosi is in via Turati right now discussing with Galliani about Boateng. Players that might be included in the deal are Amelia, Strasser, Paloschi, Beretta, Zigoni, Oduamadi and Sokratis.

Raiola always denied most of the moves of his players even when they happened soon after ... So I don't take that into account (maybe that will be true and Hamsik won't come, and anyway, why would Napoli sell its best player to us ?).
About the cheap players, don't forget that Montolivo has a contract ending next year. If the clubs think Fiorentina wants too much, they will wait until next January and start to negotiate with the player directly, which will mean no money for Fiorentina. With their current team, their results this season and the rumours about them trying to build a new team, I doubt they will agree to lose any money. Montolivo is a good player, nothing more, Milan and Inter (and maybe Bayern because I think they are also interested ?) will be the best clubs to try to get him and the ones with the most money, the other clubs won't have that much money to give and as a consequence, the price of Montolivo should be in a 8-15M range.

About Hamsik, if you monitor what's going on in Naples, it's very interesting.
So I'll premise this by saying, I think chances he's sold is still very low, but it's not impossible. The whole Mazzari situation has Hamsik upset. He wants clarification from De Laurenitis. He wants to play in a consistent UCL club and he wants a serious team. He's not opposed to staying if Napoli is that place but he seems to have doubts. He knows he's good enough and sees De Laurenitis going all Zamperini as a sign of instability and a fact they aren't serious. How can you be serious when you fire coach who got you to 3rd?!
I also don't know if money facts in but it should be noted Hamsik is 4th highest napoli player:

Look at that. DoeS Napoli look like a club serious about UCL? They definitely have the fan base and potential to be one, but there wages certainly aren't. Then beyond that, Hamsik is paid very little when you compare to even Roma (his 1.3 mil with be 17th highest on Roma!)
There was argument over his sale with Mazarri. Apparently, De Laurenitis wanted to consider it for a large sum so they could re-enforce elsewhere (perhaps an offer of 30 + cassano was attractive cause they get a free 'replacement) and money to fix elsewhere.
What I do know is galliani is on good terms with DeLAurenitisi. Much better than most serie a presidents. Let's keep in mind he almost sold Hamsik for 25 mil 2 years ago to Jube, but they went w/ Diego instead.
Add to this, Raiola is ABOUT to become Hamsik's agent?! He's not out of the cards.
It would be interesting to see what other CL teams pay their players. Of course the big dogs pay wages like Milan, but what about the mid-level teams of the CL?
Valencia, Schalke, Rangers, Tottenham, Twente, Ajax. Teams that will never win the CL but can hope to get to the first knock-out round.

He's trying to represent him. Why wouldn't you though. He's one of biggest players in italy, up and coming. Raiola is a big agent. It's logical.
