Haha, I remember back then when we used the phrase "milan material", and we used to label many of the players we could dream of signing right now as "not milan material"

As much as I also want Berlu to leave the team, I think this team can still be fairly competitive as long as Galliani is replaced and a new mindset is implemented within the team. Berlu is full of crap, but he is not really that involved with the daily operations of the team. Looking at the way this team has been ran, with all the expensive contracts that has zero payoffs like Essien, Muntari, Bonera, Mexes, etc, I have a hard time seeing Berlu made all those decisions personally. Sure, he decided to cut down on investments to the team, but plenty of teams still have much smaller budget and did very very well with it.

Problem is, Galliani, as the actual leading man of the team, still fancies this team as a european powerhouse. He is still building this team like he has the budget of a Chelsea, Man City or PSG, going after the big names in the market for quick turnarounds. And when that money is not actually there, he goes and sign the big named has beens that costs nothing. The first step toward our success has to be a new mentality. We need to start acting like a mid table team that is trying to get to the top, because that's actually who we are. We have to stop paying wages to useless players; focus on youth and be disciplined with our business practices. Berlu is a problem, but having a team whose business model requires a sugar daddy every year isn't sustainable to begin with. And Galliani is one of the main culprits of that model being in place. Galliani has to go and he has to go soon, it's that simple.

This! G is the biggest problem for us. However B also made his worst decision last year when didn't accept G's resignation

People blame B for not pumping money into Milan. The truth is we don't need that. We generate biggest revenue every year in Italy. It was G who threw away those precious money out of the window

As much as I wanted Berlu to accept Galliani's resignation (and man, I really wanted it to happen), I also must admit part of me was a little worried about the outcome of that as well. I mean, we are talking about handing over the company to a 27 year old, daddy's girl who slept with our player and had less business experience than even me (i am the same age as she is, btw). For all of her capabilities, Barbara is not exactly a very attractive candidate for CEO, if i am honest. Hell, I would be much more comfortable if Sean Sogliano actually took over the team. The burden of responsibility might overwhelm her, the same way the burden of the team is overwhelming Inzaghi right now. Changing things for the sake of changing is exactly what Galliani does to our team every year, and we have to make sure we do not repeat that mistake with our CEO. Players come and go easily, CEOs will stick around for a very long time.

I agree with Sheldon and slifersd on Galliani and Barbara. Regarding Barbara she still seems far better placed then Galliani to lead the club, especially if as rumoured she intends to bring in people to help manage the sporting side.

Xu, on Shevchenko I think the club were right to sell. 45m for a 30 year old at the time was a huge sum and I think he'd earnt the right to leave peacefully after all he'd given. I think the first real debacle was Kaka's sale. Aside from the circus around it, the fact he was still in his prime at the time (even with the dip in form) set a new precedent at the club. Still it could have ended with the money received being reinvested like Juve did when selling Zidane, but we know what happened.

I think it was Graeme that mentioned things have been dealt with badly since 2006, a sentiment I agree with totally.

Truth be told, there were a lot of arguments on the forum then AGAINST signing Ibrahimovic. We were quite the picky bunch back then. He didn't score enough goals I believe. Look at him now compared to what we have

I think Ibra's signing was still questionable, as the club spent sums of money on him it simply couldn't afford (no club outside a few can). Imagine where the club could be if that money had instead been used to correctly to finance reinforcements in other areas of the squad.

Well, If Ibra stayed, Milan would not need to have sign any strikers, as Cassano would have stayed too. Thus, maybe getting Pazzo to replace Pato and promote SES and sell Robinbo. That's a pretty good strike force to me. As for midfield, Honda is a must while Boateng might have stayed, and let's not forget Strrotman who was also close to Milan. Then in the back, Silva will be in the middle along with Astori, while DES, Darmain and Abate will be the FB.

Problem was the club couldn't afford to keep Ibra. A guy on something like 9m euro net simply can't be afforded by most team's, let alone a Milan that's struggling for cash.

I think getting Cassano was a mistake too tbh. Strootman is one I considered when listing the team, as well as Nainggolan (hell, probably a 3rd of Roma's side). The list just goes on.
