The way Berlu has been going on the nationalistic angle makes me think all this 'selling Milan' fiasco is purely for political purposes. He's clearly trying to appeal to the sensibilities of the right wing italian public to say 'look we have too many foreigners in Serie A taking the money which our talented youth should get'. Then he's really pandering the idea of a Italian Milan (he's mentioned it before but not with such intensity.) He also talked about how there are too many players of non Italian decent in the NT. When the fuck has he ever cared about the NT?
I am pretty convinced this is all for garnering political support. He dropped Bee like a bad habit which is a significant turn in the situation esp since he travelled all the way from Arcore at 9 am to pose with him at Hyatt. Belrusconi is secretive on his deals, he's not likely to do it so publicly. I think it was just to show that hey look all these foreigners came to buy Milan but none of them were good enough to buy this great italian team. Also thinking- when he's talking so much about too many foreign players in Serie A, he can't possibly go and sell Milan to a foreign buyer. Even he understands that it would backfire in terms of his public image.

Which means he wants someone to pour money, but to keep him and his family as the owners. Of course, no one sane would do that.

Not own much of something but pour money in it ... what a joke.
Like I said earlier for example, team like Arsenal has a rich guy owning 30%, he does it because he can see something out of it even if not in full control. Milan? No such possibility any time soon.

Absolutely agreed. Unfortunately, I can see a lot of Italian voters fall for it again.

He cannot run for public office anymore but he's still the head of his party. He's going to be involved at some level. I
think the only way for us to expect something good for our team is if Marina runs for political office. Then at least he will be inclined to do something good for the team in order to rebuild a positive image for the berlusconis. Besides Marina was the first one and the one who has for a long time voiced her issues with her dad owning the club. Maybe if she runs for office, she will see the PR value of Milan.
If i recall correctly, I do remember reading something last year about how she might run for office.
Apologies for not writing a proper post, I just don't have the time right now so will try to generally cover some of the discussions in bullet points:
- Marina and Barbara Berlusconi have both been linked to a possible future in politics. Until now, pretty much all of it has been denied. On Marina, I don't think will change her role in Finnivest anytime soon.
- I wrote quite a lengthy post/rant a few pages back about how I think many people in the club use the media for personal gain, focusing on Silvio's comments and how I think he's pandering to certain people. While I still think that's the case, unlike the past I think today he's fumbling his way through.
- I expect once the regional elections are over, we'll understand more. Lately, my activity has been much less in this thread for that reason, because what the papers write at the moment is pretty much propaganda and nonsensical rumours.
- Silvio's political career is pretty much in tatters, so hopefully this mess plays out over the next few weeks and he finally just calls it a day, particularly for Milan.
- My fear is Silvio's ego will get in the way of progress at the club, as Milan's likely to become the only means for him to be a public facing figure. I'm worried about him and the current management retaining control more than anything, as the damage done in almost a decade now is close to being beyond repair barring external investment. As things are, the only hope is in the youth players.
- Ultimately, I think Silvio will sell, perhaps a minority first which will become a majority sale. He knows Milan is sinking and either he'd have to pay huge sums to keep the club afloat (something others in Finnivest have been opposing for a while now) or he'll have to sell. He's also a narcissist and so isn't likely to go on much further with all Milan fans hating him. He's reached tipping point imo, hence now is looking to sell the club as people are turning on him more than ever. I also think there's truth to the rumours of him not wanting to go out a loser that came out, question is how much he thinks it's worth trying to stay on and turn things around.
- The other push for the sale is Finnivest and specifically the Berlusconi kids. Barbara's involvement in the club and her ongoing projects probably means she doesn't want a sale immediately, but Marina and PierSilvio Berlusconi have wanted to be rid of the club for a while now, actually it generally coincides with amount of investment coming into the club. Point is, Silvio might want to stay on and not sell, but he's also probably under a lot of pressure from his kids to sell. Those kids, particularly Marina, have a big say in what will probably happen.
