Good post. I just grew tired with the Berlusconis. Basta!

Thanks, I didn't really want to just bullet point everything, but simply didn't have the time to write anything in real detail.

I've always been very conflicted about Berlusconi, as I grew up with Milan loving the football and as most kids had little to no interest in politics. As I've matured and understood who Berlusconi is, the relationship has been complicated as I don't like the man, but without him I probably wouldn't have ever loved the club. It goes deeper too, as Silvio's achievements in life are surely to be respected, yet I principally disagree with him in pretty much everything and what he stands for. I know I'm not alone with this conundrum, but it's the irony that many of us that grew up with his Milan end up living with.

Today GdS says that he will fund the summer mercato with his own money. At this point I do not believe even GdS, who used to be a reliable sports newspaper sometime ago. I think all this is just speculation.

I think Berlusconi got a small wake up call when Bee tabled something that made the team's final value much less than the 1 billion Berlusconi wants. So he will do something.

I don't get how Silvio can fund a mercato (figures of 70-80m reported). Even if he does, how does he manage the debt and breach of FFP the team would be hit with if they reach Europe.

Worryingly, even with huge sums of money poured into the market, it'll take a minimum 2 years to be competing for the scudetto, simply because you can't just change the whole team over one summer.

Berlusconi clearly has the money and I believe he has been spending too (not like the past though) but it has been spent to cover up Galliani's fuckups. Like to coverup losses every year. I remember on more than one occasion Berlusconi moaning that he's losing 50m every year on Milan.

Secondly, today there's a lot of news about FFP rules beind eased (http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/32784375) Is berlusconi then thinking of putting in the money and having one last hurrah? We al hope for this same thing every mercato but could it happen this time?

Clearly he will have a limited amount of money to spend. IMO instead of getting one big player and 6 mediocre ones, we should invest in up and coming talent (as Barbara had promised last year or the year before). Kids from Brazil and Eredivisie and Portugal etc etc. In the past too many times has Galliani passed on such players (fearing they won't work in Serie A) for these youths to become stars. Instead we relied on experienced players. Clearly that didn't work. why not buy such promising youth. Imagine if we had bought Eriksen, Strootman, Ljajic, Benatia when they were heavily linked to us and were relatively cheap.

With that being said i expect this market to be another dud. Unless of course Galliani pisses off and we get Sogliano or Prede.

I wonder what's going on between Berlusconi and Galliani? Even a blind idiot can see that Galliani has been the main culprit leading to Milan's current poor state, both in sports and in finance. Why wouldn't Berlusconi just let him go? or, keep him at a reduced capacity only to utilize his strength (connection)?

and to make it even harder to fathom, when Galliani threatened to quit last year, Berlusconi actually kept him? That makes me wonder Galliani must know something about Berlusconi that we the public don't, otherwise, why would you hold on to someone who is losing money for you year after year?

They have to be soul mates of some sort , but Galliani has to know some dirty secrets of Silvio's to enjoy such job security. I wonder if there are any gossips in Italy about them?
