I can't even be bothered to write anymore, Juventus won two titles and they're buying new players already while we sit around doing nothing. Hope dies last but it's long dead in Milan.

Dev, I agree with what you said about Monto. Which is also the problem with him. He hasn't done well enough in a more advanced role, but if he is played as a regista then he needs a certain types of players around him...in a way like Pirlo does. The only problem is that Montolivo is nowhere near good enough (like Pirlo was) for us to build the midfield based on his strengths and weaknesses.
Which is why if he stays (I'm sure he will) he needs to accept a more limited role in the side. I hope that he gains his form back after a sloppy couple years.....at that point we are talking about a different scenario. I'm not too optimistic about that however. I'm affraid that we will be stuck with a player that gives average and below average performances yet demands to be in the starting line-up every week.

I agree, Montolivo isn't good enough to build the new midfield around. When I suggest Allan should be signed, it's never with the view that I want a player to compliment Montolivo, that's just a logical conclusion imo as they have complimentary skill sets.

Montolivo, like all players must be prepared to work for the first team. There's no player with guarantees of first team football, they need to earn it. If he has an issue, then he has no place in Milan.

I don't think Montolivo's as difficult as he's sometimes made out to be, which is almost completely due to a broken relationship with Seedorf (not an easy character himself). Otherwise, he's never been known as a difficult player or character to deal with.

I swear I read him saying once that he likes playing up front.

One thing I noticed about Montolivo since he joined us (didn't see him much at Viola). Just my observation might not mean anything. I forgot who we were playing against and I noticed that every time he made long passes, his right arm goes back and high. So I consciously started paying attention to that. Every time his right arm would go back and high he would make a long pass. So much that I started predicting his long passes.

The next game and again the same thing. I thought to myself that If I, who is just a fan, can tell this- the opposition clearly must have seen this on their tapes and can read this as well. Arm goes back, long pass, possession lost.

He's a bad captain, an average player but for his sake and ours, I truly hope he can start performing. I also think he should surrender the Captain's armband.

He was asked to player higher up the pitch by Prandelli in 2012, but I think he said he preferred playing in front of defence. In that side he was asked to do a different role as they already had guys like Pirlo and De Rossi.

His movement on making long passes might be easy to read (I know what you mean), but I don't think it's a significant liablity, especially deeper in midfield where he has more space. I don't disagree he's performed poorly as captain, though I don't see a significantly better candidate either. Personally, I think he and the group need a coach who has some authority, something that's been missing for a few years.

Old farts means Muntari, Essien and Montolivo. Problem I have with them is that they do not perform at all, but will always demand a starting place due to name value and tenure. This Milan, without any real star powers (and will continue to be that way for some time) cannot afford to give underperformers any playing time at all. But team culture dictates that we always give precedence to players with tenure. And that to me, is why Muntari captained the team in Juve game; Montolivo continues to get playing time when he underperforms; Essien plays any game at all; Bonera is somehow a starter at the beginning of the season.

Bonera might be a good locker room guy (I am not exactly sure what that even means to be honest), but a team cannot be paying significant money for locker room only people. Hell, that is what we pay the coach for, isn't it? As long as he is still on the team, Bonera will still get playing time because he is friends with everyone. There is a reason why every coach we have plays him and it's not because of his capabilities or potential.

Muntari's the only one who's demanded a starting spot tbh, at least as far as we know. Montolivo was rumoured to have when Seedorf started making some bizarre decisions last season, but it's been evident that Montolivo and Seedorf's relationship was hardly great. Essien to be fair has never apparently demanded a spot.

Your point is generally a criticism of the coaches in my view. It's them who decide these things and it's up to them to control the locker room, something that's been lacking for a couple of years.

On Bonera, I assume if he's renewed then it'll be at a cheap price (never know with Galliani though). That's fine for someone who's expected to act as a senior member of the squad and support the coach. As I said, he'd be 5th CB, a role that needs to be filled and is worthless to anyone other than this sort of guy. Also, whatever the profession, the manager usually needs senior members of staff to support them. Normally, this might be your more experienced and reliable members of staff, but clearly Milan as it is lacks players with both qualities.

Agreed..But Bonera Mexes Pazzini will be renewed , they hold talks soon.No one wants Zaccardo , the others should be gone hopefully.
