Summer Mercato 2011
I don't care whom we get. Just get us someone. This summer is already getting really boring. Big Grin

im about to watch Primavera game...

Regarding Witsel, its clear that he is not Milan quality...He wont add anything to us...so i dont want him...

He doesnt have world class player potential, he is strong, good arial game and decent passing means nothing...On the other hand, Asamoah is a player i'd like to have here...quality player... He is good on everything...

His difference from Merkel and Calvano for instance, Merkel and Calvano have world class potential, while Witsel doesnt...

pleAse stop this joke. You've posted this like 5 times even though you ONLY watched one game. One f'in game.

He doesnt have WC potential? You realize he's younger than asamoah and almost strassers age.

You watched one game, complimented his abilities even though he was poor. Players have poor games. He's already atleast on par w/ boateng and flamini who do nothing but run (run of mill epl player). Have that duo even combined for 9 goals over last 3 years? He scored average of 9 a year from age 19-21. Don't care what league you're in from a DEEP position that's impressive. Technically he is better than both, he tackles as well as both, is as fast as both, is more intelligent than both, I'm not sure what bugs you here?

Keep in mind he was out of position for belguim too. He's not a CAM. Put him on side mid, he's quality young player with high potential.
There is no need for disrespectful comments just like your posts above...

How do you know i watched only his one game? i saw him more than it... But i dont count them cuz Belgian League is weak...

i didnt watch their game vs Germany...Turkey is no Germany or no Austria...i know they are weak as well...That was first real test for Witsel, and however he failed...
You cant compare him with Boateng...Milan didnt sign Boateng, Genoa signed and loaned him to us...He costs 15 m euros...Moreover, Onyewu was rock solid at S.Liege but you know what happened to him...

Asamoah is world class potential player, as he showed it 2 seasons in Serie A, maybe you rate Belgian league as much as Serie A but i dont... He is what we need for LCM...Witsel is not even a LCM...

i know that you are a person who looks for fantasies, as selling ibra, buying Forlan (because of wages) and depending on Pato who is out for injuries...Okmilan

Asamoah is a quality player...While Witsel is not...at least for me...What i see from him is not enough to be a Milan player...

Dutch and Belgian league's are weak...even Dutch League dropped...Suarez was scoring 35 goals at Ajax, how many goals he scored in Premier League? just 4 goals...it says all...

I don't mind getting witsel but i hope thats not our left midfield signing, i've been hoping for bale this whole time.. giuseppe rossi is great, he showed pure class against estonia although it's a weak team i didn't see any of the other italy players doing what he did, cassano had a good game and it is still not to late for him to return to his best and be up in the best players of europe but he needs to stay focused .. Didn't rossi say he's been a milan fan since he was a child and it would be his dream? His price tag is probably the only problem and that we have robinho+cassano who more or less do the same job.. And to be honest i think robinho other then his finishing is one of our most important players and i hope to never see him leave until of course old age is in the question..

Bale,Ganso,Witsel.. end the mercato there and we will be up there with barca real .. Those 3 players would be big investments but it will pay off..

I also can't believe that you guys can call bale over rated.. I understand many english players are, in my opinion like jack wilshere or imo even rooney, he's good but not as good as they make him out to be.. But bale? He's shown his class at a young age and especially in the CL that's a huge bonus, and even bigger bonus is his best performance came against our rivals, imagine having bale doing that in a derby?

sort of off topic but also read an article on goal.com silva said we must buy ganso and we need to buy him now, he heard he would be arriving in december which is good news so it seems like we're really close but he thinks now is the best time to get him, which i agree because once he comes back from injury i don't have any doubt he'll return to top form because injuries aren't really an issue for him, it's not like they were freak injuries in the form of patos shoulder etc, he's not injury prone he's just unlucky to have had two serious injuries in a short period.. Silva is a man i adore and hope he retires at milan, he also said in this article that he's happy real madrid and barca realized that he's spending the rest of his career at milan..He's really irreplacable anyways, whatever wages he asks for should be granted anyways because we didn't spend much buying him in the first place and he always gives his best

I still believe that Ibra and Robinho purchases weren't planned for long; when opportunity arised to sign them cheaply, we jumped into and did so. Same for Cassano. Same for this season. I hate to say, actually we don't have a long-term plan transfer.

So, unless Arsenal offers Fabregas for 25M, or we could somehow pay 8M per year for 3 years for Hamsik, or if omehow Pastore hit Zamparini with a bottle (which would force him to sell cheaply or maybe even better, rescind his contract)... I'm afraid that we should be satisfied with Witsel by default...
MILAN! MILAN! SOLO CON TE!
MILAN! MILAN! SEMPRE PER TE!
abbladee, PLEASE actually read my whole post. I am uninterested in having same argument over and over.

Anyway, I wasn't speaking about his fee. I wouldn't pay 15 mil for him. But we won't either...mark that. 10 mil which is fair for a prospect of his level.

Now I like Asamoah too, but i rate them as different players. Witsel is more of a lampard/hamsik type player (obviously not as good until proven otherwise), does a lot of simple unnoticed things, makes smart plays, DOESNT GET SELFISH AND FLASHY, and pops up with goals. Asamoah is more of a passer/playmaker. He puts in his work but doesn't get forward like Witsel. To me, WE NEED BOTH. Boateng is ok but he's not good enough to be an UNCHALLENGED starter. He's not that level that we can not sign alternativeS (which witsel is).
------------------------

Secondly Boateng did exactly what in serie A? He started 19 games (injuries) and honestly... he was just a placeholder. He was a runner for sedorf/pirlo and zlatan/robinho. I mean it's not surprising the fact we seedorf played his best w boateng infront of him, Pirlo (though briefly, 3 games pre-roma injury) did the same, robinho and zlatan held the ball up and used his runs.

But basically alll he did was run. Did he provide special assists? nah? Did he have a single special ball? Nah. He's just an athlete, something we were DESPERATE for because of age and decline in our midfield.

I'll put it this way, without seedorf/pirlo in midfield holding our passing game together, and without players of HIGH technique hold up ability (like Robinho/Zlatan) Boateng is worthless. He cannot conduct an attack, he is not that player, he is a box-to-box player who works for team and makes the technical players better thru his movement (which is good)

--------------------

Thirdly, if you can't understand why Ibra limits us in UCL, I can't help you. He doesn't understand team play. Did you watch the bartha final? Did you watch milan in mid00s? To win in UCL you need a cohesive unit, not a soloist. Yeah he's a monster, he can beat a good 16 teams in serie A BY HIMSELF, but he is what he always is, and i don't expect him to change. Make no mistake, he is the reason we lost to tottenham, he is the reason inter failed out, he is the reason bartha lost to inter. He doesn't work for the team... the team works for him. He wouldn't make a proper run for others, he wants the ball, he plays poorly off it.

I would never doubt Zlatan's ABILITY. What I doubt is his ability to adjust, EVER. At 30 he won't change. When games get tough, he does the same thing, EVERYTIME, he goes Solo. He does him. He goes into ibracadabra mode. He disregards team responsibility and wants everyone to work for him, he yells. etc. And that simply doesn't work in highest level. You cannot beat 11 on 1, even if you are ibrahimovic.
--------------

Finally Suarez was player of year in premier league for second half. Did you watch him? He was a true #10. True maestro to their attack. Reason Liverpool picked up most points in league from minute he game.

The stats don;'t even show it, what about that AMAZING dribble vs. man utd, which kuyt ended up scoring. 4 goals, 3 assists, 12 games in a new league. I'll take that for his overall impact.
Also Zamparini said that Berlusconi doesnt have money for calcio... Barcelona was getting rid of ibrahimovic, honestly, there was 2 potential buyers for him, because of his wages...Milan and City...

Robinho was on the market... Besiktas and Fenerbahce was fighting for his signature, as they offered more than us but Robinho rejected them... Boateng was Genoa's gift...this all makes me pessimistic about mercato...

We need one world class 2 way midfielder, 1 quality midfielder... Why not Asamoah? why witsel? Asamoah is a quality player... He proved it at Udinese since 2 seasons... Witsel didnt show anything at high level. Belgian league is weak, when he faced with Turkey, which is a weak squad, Austria which is a weak squad as well. They cant manage to beat them...They are talking about as Witsel's Gattuso's replacement. Gattuso is small, runs a lot, covers a lot ground, he presses a lot...if we talking about Rino, we could look for other options. Guarin is RCM as well. He is free agent next season. Nainngolan is good player. Gökhan inter costs around 15 m euros. Same as Witsel...

Btw, Witsel is 1 month younger than Asamoah...

Edu from Schalke scored 2 goals against Inter, tear their defenses open all along the match, yet I (and you, for sure?) won't want him in our team. Wayne Rooney show more potential than him in same age and look how much Man Utd paid for him? Definitely not the crazy price tag put upon Bale now.

And how could he fit into our system? Definitely he's not the LCM we need. Bale sure runs speeding crazily like Jehu, but I have big doubts about his creativity, passing, something that Pirlo or Seedorf could offer at last part of the season... With Boateng in CAM and two of MvB/Gattuso/Flamini/Ambro, you'd expect the one player (LCM) to be main source of flair in our midfield, and I don't believe in Bale at all for that task. It will waste his big potential, he could (or maybe not) be world-class left-winger in Man Utd or Chelsea, but to play in foreign countries, high pressure in its top level club, and out of position too? As talented as he may be, it's too much to be asked from him.
MILAN! MILAN! SOLO CON TE!
MILAN! MILAN! SEMPRE PER TE!
at the moment, we don't know know whether Ganso is Mr X or whether we will get a Mr X along with Ganso..... however personal opinion is that we will sign 4 to 5 players.. but thats just a hunch.

I also believe Ganso will be sealed in 3 weeks (after Santos' Libertadores campagin ends).

Ambrosini, Seedorf, MVB, Gattuso, Flamini - FIVE midfielders contracts expire in 2011. It is NOT logical to just wait till next year and have them all leave. We cannot keep postponing the midfield renewing for another season. We must, must sign a couple of midfielders this year. The only reason they would do keep this five and not buy anyone is if they strongly believed in our youth players (Merkel, Strasser, Fossati and Calvano) and they believe they will lead the line in 2012/2013. I still think we need a world class dynamo in midfield though, none better than Cesc Fabregas.

As someone said - we've been linked with many names , many have potential to be great (Ganso) and some are young but you can't bet on them succeeding at Milan (Hamsik, Pastore)....however Fabregas is the only guarantee from the players we've been linked with. He is only 24 and even if we sign him now, we can sell him off to Barca in 2 or 3 years for a profit.

I just truly wish Berlusconi is willing to splash a ridiculous amount on Cesc. He will be the one to lead us to glory next year, not Ibra, not Pato. Those two can't be depended on when it counts as shown last season, hopefully they can change but I'm not holding my breath on that. We need to create a world class team, a team that ticks and moves as a unit.

MvB, despite being old, is a very important piece... Boateng is a good player but must must improve his tactical game, otherwise he should stay on the bench. Witsel from what I see seems to be the type of player Allegri likes, a strong midfielder with alot of stamina that likes to sneak into the box and scores goals, having him will be very useful however only if its for a reasonable price. Ganso looks like he is an ideal team player, one can only question his health and physical strength. I also think it is VITAL to start with Robinho alongside Pato or Ibra. Say what you want, but Robinho has been the most consistent performer this year, yea he has missed alot of easy chances, but without him we would have been lost on the linkup play from midfield to attack.

Our formation for next year should be:

---------------------------- ABBIATI ------------------------------

--- ABATE ------ NESTA ---------- SILVA ----------- TAIWO --

--- BOATENG -------------- MVB ---------------- GANSO -----

------------------------ FABREGAS ----------------------------

------------ ROBINHO ---------------- IBRA ------------------

With Ganso and Prince interchanging positions with Cesc during the game, and we also have Cassano/Pato on the bench who can come in for whichever of the strikers is having a bad game. Only weak point of this formation would be our full backs. Taiwo is a big question work and Abate has shown massive improvement, let's hope he keeps it up and ups his offensive game this year.

This however is only a dream, and can only be realised by Cesc's will to join Milan, which is close to 0.1%.

I think we were clearly going to sign a forward though, and robinho particularly i saw coming... mostly because when you look at the market, he had no options, and man city would be forced to drop the fee big time.

You know, chelsea/man utd/arsenal wouldn't buy him. He couldn't go back to madrid. Pep didn't want him at barca. He wouldn't go to germany or france, so it was done to milan/inter, and inter showed no interest.

Ibra is kind of a similar story, because he rejected City, so really only Chelsea were an additional option.

This is why I think we are frontrunners for Fabregas if Barca doesn't get involved.... Arsenal would prefer to sell im abroad, so City can offer all they want, it's unlikely he goes there. He will refuse madrid if they attempted, so it becomes an milan derby. And if it's that he's made it clear he prefers the right side of milan (rossoneri Big Grin)

Now if Barca are willing to spend big on him, that's a different story but they have issues. Thiago Alcantara (HUGE prospect who broke thru and i LOVE) has basically said, sell me if you buy fabregas. And you know how pep feels about his cantera. And while Xavi is aging, Fabregas is still more a luxury than a need for them (they can beat everyone in la liga bar madrid w/o xavi anyway, so he can easily cut down his games and use Thiago/Afellay etc.)

I also think Cesc, while catalan at heart, and will inevitably dawn a barca jersey, isn't opposed to trying italy first. He left barca to play when he was 16, so he's not on level of xavi where he's barca only. If we got him, I'd imagine this scenerio.... in 3 years (max) we'd sell him to barca to fulfill his fantasy. Probably make a little profit too Big Grin

For what it's worth... i like BOTH players. I see potential in both.

If I had my way we'd sign 3-4 midfielders. We'd sell Flamini (love him personally but he's kind of a waste)

So now we approach a midfield with clarence, MVB, Ambrosini, Gattuso, Boateng.

If Gattuso goes we should move for nainggolan (who is awesome). But if not, i see 3 needs, a box to box player like Boateng, a more technical passer in midfield, and a CAM.

So for me: Fabregas (gift), Aquilani, Witsel or Asamoah represent a nice shrewd market which upgrades us.

We also have merkel and youth we need to slowly integrate.

BTW my biggest fear is ,Fabregas w/ ibra. They won't play well. Ibra wants the ball, doesn't make many runs off the ball (as he should). You end up wasting one or other. Both Ibra and Fabregas are technically brilliant. But you lose a lot of their gifts when paired with each other.
