No. After his contract with Ajax had ended, he was signed by Empoli first because Inter's non-EU quota was used up.

Quote:The player, who turns 19 only in October is one of the most interesting prospects in the world, and according to his agent Roberto La Florio, AC Milan have put a close eye on him.

La Florio said: “I can only say that Allegri told me that Milan are watching, but there were no official contacts with the two clubs [Milan & Inter]. His value? I think the boy is worth €10/15 million.”

El Shaawary is probably biggest italian talent scoring 9 times in serie B as an 18 year old. He scored twice in promotion playoff. He's a treqartista, though Padova play more of a 4-3-3 than a 4-3-1-2 and he's usually at LW (actually judging by padova lineup's they've used them almost 50/50)

Here is game to send Padova thru in promotion playoff. Padova came back from down 2-0 and then 3-2. El Shaawry is #92:

goals at 1:35 and 3:10

Allegri now drops hint mr. X is ambidextrous and wears size 42 shoes. Two names which fit.... fabregas and modric. I'd be cool w/ either

There is also a rumor we have signed Menez. I wouldn't mind menez at all. He's a versatile player (CAM/Winger/Forward) who would bring something. But if he's our only midfield creative signing i'd be disappointed.

Thanks for sharing the video. from the video, El Shaarawy does impress me, especially considering the tension and huge pressure in such a crucial playoff match.

I also have heard that many Italian fans already rate him very high. I guess we will just have to wait and see. Okmilan

I guess this passport/non-EU is more complicated than we (average fans) know. We just can't take it for granted. Regulations in Italy seem to be stricter than before, and I wonder if that has something to do with the fake passport scandals several seasons ago that involved Inter and Milan.
You know those scores on goal.com that show team scores based on varying criteria (it's on each major team's home page at the right within goal.com). I copied the data into an xls file and here is the summary. The league averages are only based on the number of teams that Goal has ratings for - not all clubs. That's why Spain is so high - it is only based on an average of 3 teams. No surprise Barca and Madrid are the "best" clubs according to the site.

(yes, I'm VERY bored today).

Italy Inter 7.5
Italy Milan 7.3
Italy Roma 6.9

Or maybe because in 3 seasons with Roma he has managed only 7 goals and 9 assists in 82 league matches? I don't know, but that's not very impressive for an attacking midfielder/winger. Not saying he can't be good for us, but he's got a lot to prove.
i dont want menez .... whats with all these garbage links recently

Anyone who watched roma would know there best lineup was totti, vucinic, menez. Totti has false #9, other two running off him.

It boggles my mind how little it was used. First Borriello over totti or vucinic (do'h), then benching menez to play taddei?

Some managers man....
