For example, we are watch Serie A pretty closely, thus we also get access to MULTI media outlets from Italy. On top of that, if someone like El Sharr is being hype as the next Messi. We all get a chance to watch him closely for more than a few games. Does we can judge if he is the real deal or not. Same thing goes for EPL, Liga and Budles. On top of that, we can watch him in CL, if his team is playing there. Something we really can't do if the player plays in Brazil or Argentina or Czech.
Of course all local media will hype up their youngsters as the next "xxxxx". But it's only local media that hypes up their talent. England hypes up their young people, but the only reason I hear of it is because I'm reading english media. Even the US hypes up their youngsters and I know about it because I live in the US. For some reason though, it just seems that Brazilian hype (and to a lesser extent Aregentina) is on an international level. And I don't think that's a coincidence when you consider the prevalence of corporations buying player rights in places like Brazil. Didn't we have to negotiate with some 3rd party company to sign Ganso? And don't you think that those 3rd parties are going to increase the hype to maximize their profit?
I mean, how is it I know so much about Neymar and Ganso, but couldn't name one young player from the Czech u21? Or some young russian star that's being hyped as the next Zizou in russian media? It's because I don't read russian media and the international media is focused so much on southamerica.
So yes, all countries - including Italy - hype their youngsters. But I just feel like the hype about youngsters of the 2 south american countries is much grander. Just my opinion.
Yes and no.
I don't think the Brazil or Argentina media can control the Int'l media in hyping their youngsters. I think it has more to do with youtube and the teams these players are playing in. For example an U21 Czech hotshot might not be playing in the top teams in their respective league where as someone from Brazil is different. IE Neymar and Ganso at Santos. Then you have youtube which is making Baresi into the top scoring CB of all time, but what people don't know is that all the goals Baresi scored in the youtube clip were pretty much all his goals in his long career.
Then when you talk about why are clubs in Brazil and Argentina is selling their players at such high prices. That is something thanks to England and their media about their youngsters. I mean, if I am a club owner and read that Phil Jones is just sold for 20mil, I don't think I will sell the next Silva for anything less than that. Just business sense, nothing more.

Lastly, players response differently to different systems and environments. We all say T. Silva is the best defender in the world....but 6 yrs ago, he was a huge flop and I doubt anyone in the world including himself believes that he will become the best defender one day.
I'm not worried about the hype as excited MILAN BOUGHT HIM. All those players you listed Galliani never bought (Bonera was bought after his hype died out and he was almost 25 for a low fee).
Galliani has been notoriously conservative with youngsters with high fees. El Shaarawy's fee is quoted at 7 mil + half of Merkel for his whole contract. By time we buy back Merkel we'll have ended up paying close to 15 mil which was El Shaarawy's quoted fee.
The fact we moved so quickly on it means our scouts were VERY high on him. Milan scouts are among the best in the world, I've always contested. My problem is Galliani rarely listens. Braida had asked Galliani to buy Pastore but he stalled and Palermo bought him for 8 mil. Braida wanted Hernanes but Galliani said we didn't have money. List goes on...
Dude, not once in my post did i question Galliani or El Shaarawy or his purchase, I was just replying someone about hyping youth players.
I am not sure about that Braida Vs Galli thing, since I really don't know the whole story behind any of those transfers.
To me, I think El Shaarawy from what I seen at least has something that Milan lacks and that's speed up front as well as finding space to cut in behind strikers. I think he will fits well playing next to Ibra and Pato up front. I can see that with he will benefit a lot due to his movement and speed playing next to Ibra. While Milan will be deadly on the counter with Pato and him upfront.

Almost as frustrating as missing on hernanes last year, except we used the nonEU spot on Robinho (so atleast we got a great player in one aspect... in pastore's we got sheva instead.. ugh)
I'm frustrated, too, but I don't think we could buy Pastore with just 8M. His old club could think his price must be the same as Pato's.
If El Shaarway had to play at Genoa the next season why did we have to spend 6 million (including Merkel s half). I think he shud play with Milan even if as a bench player which will help us evaluate if he fits in our system.
Hamsik - Mr. Allegri s top priority as per Milannews.

my dream would be to get modric and hamsik. Modric would be the perfect replacement for pirlo, even better.
Modric is no way better than Pirlo. He is younger than Pirlo I do agree.
About Pastore, Jovetic, etc, they were all promising players. No one can now what they will be. Fans only told about the success ones, where the fail ones (many also were hyped but we don't know where they are playing today) are not mentioned here. In the last years we were not really interested in signing talents who are not really super talents, like Pastore, Jovetic, etc. Only in recent years we started to like signing youngsters.

He's born to Ghanaian parents in Italy (I think). He's definitely not related to Kevin Prince though.

By the way will EL Sharrway be playing with Milan or stay in Genoa?
I'm pretty sure the agreement is El Shaarawy stays with Milan, Merkel to Genoa. What's interesting is Preziosi said the operation is a 25m one for Milan to get El Shaarawy. Not sure if this is true, or if he's just trying to appease the Genoa fans (they are pretty angry about the transfer).

Modric won't come. He's too expensive

He has potential to be even better. He has excellent vision, he is a two footed player, perfectly able with both feet. His passing is impecable. His vision and ability to pick a pass is impressive. He is techncally better than Pirlo, a better dribbler, more agile and more reactive(quicker reactions). His stamina is also superior to Pirlos. Right now as it stands, he is better than Pirlo.

two bad moves by moratti. the first was to get benitez to kill the horse(inter) then leonardo to beat the dead horse
it will now take a really good coach to rebuild that team, most of their players are past it and the rest are unmotivated. If Eto and Sneider go, they are screwed.

Rather than splashing an obscene amount of money trying to secure the services of the likes of Fabergas, Pastore and Hamsik (any of whom will cost no less than 30 million) I'd be more than happy if we just acquired both Honda and Ganso for a combined fee of no more than 35-40 million. It's a shame that we haven't focused on Honda for the LM position as he has all the attributes that Allegri is seeking (physical, speed, work rate, technical skills) and he will come relatively cheaply. That way we will have an amazingly fast and solid line-up that looks like this:
------KPB-----------MvB----------Honda--------
---------------------Ganso-----------------------
---------------Pato---------Ibra------------------
With this formation, we will have the mercurial skills of Ganso to create openings for our forwards, the beastly defensive skills of MvB, which coupled with his impressive ball distribution will allow our fast LM & RM (and aided by our even faster fullbacks Abate and Taiwo) to terrorize our opposition in attack, and track back quickly when defending. This for me would be the best possible outcome of the summer transfer season.
Also, with the likes of Seedorf, Ambro, Gattuso, Flamini, Emanuelson and Al Shaarawy as cover for our midfield, and Robinho and Cassano for our strikers, we will have GREAT squad depth.
If anything, we have way too many pure DMs (MvB, Gattuso, Ambro and Flamini). That's why I would've been quite content with parting ways with Gattuso, alas, now that he's sticking around I suggest that we sell Flamini and try to develop Strasser for the future.
There, 2 cents given!! I guess I'll continue perusing this forum but I won't be making that many posts because this is just teasing of the highest order, kind of like going to a strip club when you are broke (look what you can have for 20 quid, oh you don't have that, well that fancy gentleman over there will do, have a nice evening )

Haha, that's a classic line! Thanks for the laugh
Genoa president declared that Merkel's half costed them 5 m euros, cuz Milan valued him at 10 m euros. He also said that Merkel is young but ready for Serie A...Then he said that El Shaarawy costed us 25 m euros...
