Judging from your posts, your written English seems fine to me. I don't know about your spoken English, but that can be improved fairly quickly once you are in an English-speaking environment. I would not worry too much about that.

I think you should be fine. Just make sure that you don't tell people silly things like "Huntelaar is the best attacker in the world" or something. They actually know football there in Europe.

First of all sorry for late reply, but the university activities, extreme hot weather & a certain bad accident (of a friend) made life tough & busy recently .....

But anyway, thanks xudong! The only thing that worries me slightly is the off campus life in a non-English country like Germany, Sweden etc. I guess on campus life would be easy as far as language is concerned. Plus the extreme cold weather of Europe also gives me some nightmare. Maybe its one of the reason why Europeans can't remain single for a longer time & do need a partner sooner in life .....

As for knowledge of football in Europe, well I think you are rite, but when a person like Andy Gray is considered to be a football expert, some how I begin to feel that I could do a better job in his place ...

your English is fine Zeekay, if you speak as well as you type/write but saying that English is no use at all if your in Germany, Denmark or Norway, they would expect you to learn their language i should imagine, unless you goto an english speaking university.

Going to Europe and studying in German, Swedish or Italian language is simply out of the equation. I was actually talking about the International courses being offered in those countries in English. There are plenty of those type of courses. maybe you don't know this, but there are two official languages in Pakistan; Urdu & English. So we too have some attachment to your mother language Although its the US English, which is used. UK English is relatively harder for us

As far as I know, Germany has some of the best universities in the world, like the Ludwig-Maximilians Universitaet in Munich. The only con side is that German is a very difficult language to learn. You can also look for universities in Italy, as the Italian language is a lot easier than most North European languages (apart from English). From what I've heard Firenze, Bologna, Milan and Turin have good universities.

WOW .... this sounds cool. I could be in Munich for study & could actually go and see in life Bayern Munich playing ..... wait a minute even better would be to study in Milan & so that I could visit San Siro & see my beloved team play .............. That would be a dream I have to check the Italian Universities as well Thanks for the nice idea!

German isn't that difficult to learn imo, i learnt German and took exams in it at school but anyway there is an English speaking university in Rome, Zeekay, just as a point though have you ever been to Europe before? its a big step to take to immerse yourself in a new culture and a new way of living in a new continent.

My senior at work place tells me that German is not difficult, but kind of tricky for those who speak English. Something like mixing up the structure of sentences ... He has done his research work at Germany & is die hard Germany fan
Greg I have never been out of Pakistan, well only once way back in 1992. But not too far. Still I feel moving/adjusting to European country won't be that difficult for me. As a matter of fact, many of our University seniors have gone to countries like England, Australia, Sweden, Denmark, China etc. They say its not a big deal adjusting to the environment. Be friendly & people would be friendly to you, its as simple as that

Canada is always a great alternative but the winters can be crazy

A year ago I was really thinking about Canada, but now my heart is set on Europe, don't know why Maybe 'The Barbara Effect'
As for the Canadian winters, it is one thing that really scares me about going abroad. I can take the 40 degree Celsius temperature of here, but the freezing cold of Canada would be a whole different challenge

I studied master in Germany, but I was lucky to be in a join training program so the requirements were not too challenging.

Asiatic languages look pretty damn hard to me.

Try Persian .... Very soft l& romantic language & if you want to try one of the, say strongest/hardest languages of the world, then try Pashto

From my experience German is a difficult language, at least more difficult than English. Both language are not my tongue language and I learned English first (since school time) and then German when I was studying in the university.

Back to mzk post. I am in Germany and have finished my study here. If you want to study in Germany, it is not a big deal if you don't speak German (IIRC people need to pass a certain level of German course, just to be able to communicate in important situation like buying ticket, food, etc.) since there many International programs offered by Universities in Germany. I personally suggest people who want to continue their study in Germany (not from the beginning of Bachelor degree) to take International programs since it should be much easier for them if they already know English. Studying something from the middle (like Master degree) in new language is much difficult than in a language we already know for years. The most difficult one IMO is that we need to know the German words and terms from our previous study in Bachelor and we only have limited time to adapt with the German language for our study (in German course people can't learn words and terms of the major they want to study since in German course people learn general situation, not a specific topic).

also, "he" "she" and "it" in Chinese all sound exactly the same too, even though they write differently. that drives a lot of foreigners (who want to learn Chinese) crazy.

Some how I am not surprised to see him disappear, maybe the university stuff is catching up with him. Plus he is t his best when the games are coming thick & fast. So I won't mind him having some rest & then coming back with a bang once AC Milan start the quest for the 19th Scudetto & 8th UCL.

You can apply to rent a room in a dormitory (Studentenwohnheim). The price should be cheap enough compared to private room. The total cost we can look at financial ability's requirement when a foreign student apply the German visa. The German authority demand that the student have to provide 659 euro monthly. So, the average cost to live in Germany as student should be around that number. If you cook daily then you can spare money, you could need less money than that. Things you have to spend money monthly for them are:
1. Room (this varies from about 150 euro - 300 euro if you live in a dormitory)
2. Health insurance ( around 60-70 euro)
3. Food (about 100-200 euro if you cook)
4. Bus ticket (some universities have semester ticket for transportation, some don't have). This depends where you live (big city or not). In some cities like I live, most students ride bicycle. Here the semester ticket for the city about 70-80 euro per semester (3-4 months). But this could be much higher if you live far from your universities (like you need to go by train for example).
5. Other things like to copy, print, etc (books should be available in the library, in most cases you don't have to buy book)

If you really spare, you can live with 400-500 euro monthly (not in a big city or city in which the room cost so much money like München). In average (normal life) as I said, the number of money the German authority declare, is 659 euro monthly.

Yeah, Germany is pretty cheap really, well, compared with life's standard, wages etc. I was in Regensburg, near Munich, the prices there are pretty low. Hell, even here in Albania, as a student, you'd need around 400 euro per month. But not the same quality mind you.

It is fun to be in a multicultural environment. Almost every student knows English (even at a high level), so there is no big deal. After some shopping with new friends, you will learn the basic German sentences quickly. I have a few friends who study in English and they said so. Even I sometimes used English, especially when talking about computer.

However, if you wants to fully experience the life in Germany (besides study), you must learn German properly.
