Summer Mercato 2011

Like I posted before, seeing recent matches I am convinced we need midfield help more than FB, even if all the injuries and cup tied players are available. Especially since most of us value Champions League more than Serie A. Playing against European opposition, even smaller teams, in 6 game group matches or knockout ones movement, transition and dynamism are even more crucial.

Don't Milan already got Oddo for the useless RB role?

Don't worry we're not getting Cassetti. Abate is our RB with Zambro or Oddo to be a backup. Antonini will be the backup on the left for the new LB we buy Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Ganso is obviously the biggest story of the Summer Mercato 2011. Those comments make me think hes closer to Inter Milan, which scares me. We have Robinho, Pato, T. Silva, and hopefully Jucilei too Big Grin.... he should want to play with us. Plus they have Sneijder for his role.. we have NO ONE.....This will be very interesting from now until next year....

Lastly, I agree with Gabriel, I think Emmanuelson and Flamini may be gone next year, especially the latter. I know V. Bommel, Gattuso, Ambrosini are all old, but they're better than Flamini. Then Boateng, Merkel, Strasser are a bit more dynamic. Keep in mind we'll have 3 spots for Midfield, and then there's Pirlo. I just don't know about Flamini anymore, I've tried to root for him, but he dissapoints...

I hope we get Eriksen. The way he makes the game, his running, his intellect, his insight, ... incredible.
Then to also get Vertonghen.
But buying ANOTHER two players from ajax who are THAT young will probably not be realistic. Who knows Onyewu returns a beast this summer?

Onyewu?? Are you kidding me? This guy has never been good enough to play at the level that Milan want to be on. Let him stay in the dutch league.

Eriksen though, great prospect for the future.

I don't want players that have to be compared with Yepes, Legro or Bonera. I want players that can be compared with Nesta and Thiago Silva. We've already got backup-players. We need to strengthen competition for first team places, not marginally strengthen our substitutes.

Onyewu isn't a particularly good defender, one who relies too much on his physical attributes, but is poor in his positioning and at reading the game. I've been watching him (not closely, but enough) since he was at Newcastle and he's never impressed me.

Legro has generally been of similar quality (not quite as physically dominating, but a little better positionally) through his career. Bonera until this season was a better defender than Onyewu, while Yepes for years has been better.

Speaking of Yepes I'm a little surprised he never went to a big team until he joined us this year. He's always been a very good defender and could have achieved more imo.

Good defenders / goalies get transferred less than Good midfielders or attackers.
Though Emanuelson was sniped by premier league teams and he is greatly talented. I hope he will prove his talent. He has already shown that he is a good asset, but his shooting (which was GREAT at ajax) didn't work out yet.
