View Full Version : AC Milan vs Juventus (game & post-game comments)
Even so... we are still getting a very different perspective of the match than what Collina is viewing. We do not know what the play looked like from is eyeballs. Maybe he didnt see anything! It's easy for us cause we watch it from our couches. Makes us the experts doesnt it??
Of course, and I didn't see all Juve's matches so I'm not going to drag the referee into the scene.
But for all the criticism that you are hearing, from media, newspaper, websites about how Milan lost two games in a row, I assure all you fans (who didn't watch the match) that Milan is far from this so-called crisis.
Funny enough, no one seems to say that Milan is unlucky today, which I think it is so.
Can some people (not just here, but overall) just be fair to Milan's performance like the way Bersluconi did?
And btw, Milan had possession more than Juventus for 8 minutes.
Can someone tell me that Milan is indeed unlucky today? thanks.

yeah milan were unlucky and they are not in a crisis in terms of performance levels today
i have never liked collina he is an attention seeking idiot whose profile is so big just because of his intimidating phyical presence.
hopefully he retires the end of season
You are just being mean to Collina. :D You are obviously biased, IMHO. :ilol:
he messed up big time in the chelsea barca game too so its not just milan.
he could have however done us a favour there because he had disallowed chelseas last minute goal like he should have we would in all likelihood be playing barca in the final who are far superior in my opinion to liverpool.
still im not going to forgive him
but i must say for such an incompent referee he has certainly done well for himself advertising etc

I don't know how to answer your question. I only watched the second half, and the quality wasn't good enough for me to make my judgment.
I probably would say that we are unlucky to lose, we probably don't deserve to lose. However, title-decider is supposed to be boring, and we are unlucky that when things could go either way, it is not in our favor.
And happy birthday to Franco Baresi! :bday: He probably wanted a better gift than this, but this is life.
I don't blame Collina, again. But I do blame many other suckers who helped Doper to their current positions. Doper should have trailed for 5-10 points by today, they were (shamefully) lucky that they even had a chance by today's game. Again, this is life, we will get over it. NOT TO MENTION THAT OUR HOPE IS NOT TOTALLY DEAD YET. :D
"MILAN - Carlo Ancelotti gave his post-match analysis: ‘The first half got immediately difficult for us: they hit above all on the counterattack, just like in occasion of the goal that worstened the situation for us. We played the second period with more vehemence, we would have deserved more. I don't think JUve were superior to us and I also don't think we are tired: we fought for the whole second half and this is a clear sign of good fitness. We lost a game without deserving this: a draw would have been right. But it went like this and we take act. The challenge Cafu-Zambrotta? It could have been a penalty. Who came on today gave a positive contribution. Dida's mistake on the goal? I think it was [David] Trezeguet who did well to finish off a wonderful - and maybe unexpected to my men - assist from Alex Del Piero. Now let's look ahead to the upcoming games: there could be surprises. It partially depends on us, but also on Juve. One thing, however, is certain: we must win all the games now. Lecce? No rotation, now we have some rest and don't make any calculations any more. We'll prepare the trip on Sunday in the best way. I'm sorry that today we lost, considering the way the game went. We did all we could, maybe even more. We are sorry but serene.'"
Nadir, I'm not sure if you'll agree with Ancelotti's answer on fitness levels of the players.

CAFU: 'We can still do it'
5/8/2005
MILAN - Marcos Cafu commented on the episode that saw him involved along with Gianluca Zambrotta in the box: ‘He pulled my shirt, I think there was a penalty appeal. But [referee Pierluigi] Collina didn’t allow it, so we can just take act. The same is with [Fabio] Cannavaro’s handball moments later: I think it also was a penalty, but since it was not conceded, so we must forget it. We just have to think and do well in the next three games. Juve are three points ahead, but we have to believe it until the end. We must win all the games and watch what Juve will do. I think we didn’t deserve to lose today, especially for what we showed in the second period. As it happened in the firts game against the Bianconeri earlier this season, we did well but didn’t get points. We keep hope alive. We can do it.’

You know what this is called in psychology: Learned helplessness.
Right now it's so much easier to blame someone outside Milan, so:
Collina, PLEASE RETIRE!!! :frustrat:
This clown most probably cost me both the WC with Denmark (giving Greece the win against Denmark) and something that is much much worse: the Serie A title, the most important title on earth, with Milan!
This is too much for me to bear! :depress::cry:

I know, he messed up the England-ARgentina game, but he is not incompetent. He trusts his judgement, and that's understandable.
I will not try to convince you that he is good. Your opinion is surely very interesting. :D
FORZA MILAN!!!!!
FORZA PARMA!!!!!

QUOTE]
Also becuase I don't see Milan today playing bad (like in the case in Holland), perhaps in the 1st half we suffered but it happened all the time, not just today. We tried a comeback as we usually did but today is simply not our day.
I also tend to agree with almilan here IN TERMS OF the game between Chelsea and Barca.
It was a CLEAR foul on the goalkeeper of Barcelona. You don't block GK like that. As long as GK was blocked, then the play is stopped in favor of the GK.
But I doubt Collina saw that. (but How about the linesman??)
Hmmmm .... lots of things to discuss but most points have already been covered. Our team has been playing a lot of games and we do have a squad instead of a starting 11 only.
1. It didn't help matters that the same starting 11 is persisted for 5 games and the effects are now quite ripe. We should've rotated more and used our squad before this thing happened. Juve have a very clear edge and with so little games to go, it is their Scudetto to lose rather than our Scudetto to win. It will take a miracle for us to win it. We should however not totally give up on it and use our squad for the remaining games giving rest to our key men on the pitch and rotating them in order to have them fully rested for the final on the 25th.
2. Pirlo and Seedorf have been two players who have been holding our midfield together and brilliantly so but they are in a rough patch right now. Pirlo's return from injury hasn't helped while Seedorf has been playing too many games. I felt that Gattuso didn't play well at all and has been asking to be benched based on his performance. The most tired players are: Pirlo, Seedorf, Gattuso, Sheva, Nesta, Stam and Kaka.
Cafu is really still trying but he will eventually break down if not rested. That is the core of our side and all this dip in form and play is coming from that.
3. In the first half we didn't bother to play football and just knocked the ball about with no intent. It was like killing time when you have a 3-0 lead. Trezeguet's goal didn't wake us up properly till the last 5 mins of the first half. It was lethargic and lazy on our part and I will put the blame on our team for giving Juve that confidence that they could match us. That first half really did set the tone for Juve to feel that they could get something here.
4. Our second half has always been better and it was better today except that our second half is normally like our first half and we improve furthermore in the second half. Inzaghi did come after a long lay-off but two chances by him were golden. On another day perhaps they both would've gone in. He wasted them or shall I say didn't make the most of them. Sheva's finishing was below par as well and he is a part of the tired player group. He is barely running in the last 3 games. Not like him.
5. Kaka was still trying a whole lot more but he was trying to go through an organized defensive team and when they gang up they make sure you can't get past so he did lose possession a few times. Rui coming on did spark something into us and gave us hope.
6. We've lost two on the trot and this is a bad patch for us. It is a bad moment. I think the players were also concentrated on the final. Galliani said that the title chase is vital but the Champions League is more important for the team. I personally think that when you make a statement like this on the eve of an important clash then the players' concentration can go down as they know where the priorities lie.
7. We can't give up hope on the Scudetto. After all it is a see-saw campaign and you never know what can happen. What we can do and should do is make the fringe players play and try to win the remaining games keeping that pressure up on Juve to win their remaining games. We have a deep enough squad and even though our last 3 games are tougher on paper with two away games as well, we have to try. On the current situation obviously the big final in Istanbul is the all-important game now and we have to plan it out for that game. That was always the priority so we can't let that one slip after a wonderful season.
8. We could've and should've done better with today's game. We had the squad, the team and the home advantage to make sure we could deal with it but left it too late. The first 45 mins display left a lot to be desired. Whenever a team loses there can be a million excuses for that loss but what is done is done now. Congratulations to Juve on their win. We have to try in the Serie A and focus everything on Istanbul. I don't know if it can be taken as a good thing but we didn't score a goal for the first time since January 26, 2005. We had scored in every single game before that so that run has come to an end. We have to turn the page and start afresh now.
With liverpool also losing today 3-1 to Arsenal, the CL final seems to be destined for two great teams which both lost today.

Collina is just like all the other refs- he makes many blatant mistakes.he just seems to be very confident in himself which is how he gets away with it.
We lost it today in the first half. Our second half show was pretty good which tells me that our fitness levels are actually high.We are low on confidence not fitness.Too many players underperformed in the first half-JDT,Seedorf,gattuso,the defence in fact most of the team!I still think Ancellotti could be more offensive and that would help. Its still not over so we can still hope and we now have a full week to recouperate and practice in training.
Milan: It's not over yet Sunday 8 May, 2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Carlo Ancelotti and his Milan stars are not about to give up on the Scudetto, even after their home defeat to Juventus.
“We played well and were penalised by one incident,” explained the Coach after the 1-0 loss. “I have nothing to reprimand my players for. There are three games left and anything can still happen, but I can assure you we won’t lay down our arms yet.”
The Bianconeri opened up a three-point gap at the top of the table thanks to David Trezeguet’s goal, sealing their first win at the San Siro since 1996-97.
“We did everything we could to get back into the game and went close with a great second half performance. We didn’t start terribly well,” conceded Ancelotti, “but after the break pinned Juve back into their own half. A draw would’ve been a deserved result.”
Ancelotti surprised many with his tactics, not least sticking with Clarence Seedorf instead of Massimo Ambrosini in midfield.
“I wanted to use our quality and take control of the game,” he explained. “Andrea Pirlo and several others are a little tired at this stage of the season, but that is understandable.”
Pippo Inzaghi made his comeback and immediately showed he was in promising form, having Milan’s best chances throughout the second half.
“Before anything else, I must say that it is great to finally be fit again,” said the former Juve striker who has barely played at a consistent level over the last two years.
“Clearly, to score a goal would’ve been the ultimate high, but Gigi Buffon and Gianluca Zambrotta did some fantastic saves. Anything can still happen, plus we have the Champions’ League Final against Liverpool to look forward to.”
There was controversy in this tie, as Marcos Cafu appeared to be held back by Zambrotta and many of the Milan stars suggest it was a penalty.
“He held my shirt and I believe it was a spot-kick,” said the Brazilian. “Pierluigi Collina did not award it, so that’s the end of the matter. I also think that Fabio Cannavaro’s handling offence could’ve been punished with a penalty. In any case, I don’t believe we deserved to lose this match, especially after our second half performance.”
Andriy Shevchenko was surprisingly quiet today and looked ahead to the rest of the campaign, as there are still nine points up for grabs.
“Juventus did well to hang on to their lead and deserve to be complimented for such a tough performance,” said the Ukrainian. “It was an entertaining game and we are satisfied despite being left empty-handed. We have faith that Juve can still drop points, but then again so can we, so all we can do is give it our best.”
Juventus have announced they'll continue their Press Silence until the end of the season.
and for a moment i thought collina was different to other referees .. there were atleast 2 penalty kicks for us in that match, cannavaro is a thug, infact even if hes a good player hes just as horrible as materazzi, fookin punk!!! ... the way he treated shevchenko in crosses shows that he knows perfectly well that he needs to cheat so he can beat him, a normal collina wouldve seen that. thats not just it, what about the shirt pulling by zambrotta on cafu, i used to think that zambrotta is a clean player but ive seen him act dirty more than once this season, whats worse about this incident is that the linesman had a perfect view of what happened, maybe cafu should stop smiling alot, hes always the victim but refs usually believe its a dive!!! and what about that handball on canna after cafu had a shot at goal??? his arm was raised and it wasnt attached to his body... if it was so then by the rules it wont count by it wasnt the case and we shouldve had a penalty ...
JUVE TI ODIO
dirty dirty team, every time we attack they commit a foul, players like zambrotta and canna deserved red, but for once i gotta admit del piero played well
players that shouldve had some rest are: cafu, stam, nesta, seedorf, gattuso, sheva
gattuso was horrible today, ambro has been in fine form he shouldve started, seedrof shouldve been subbed by serginho early on and rui couldve played in pirlos position!
As a huge contrast with Dida isn't it? ;)
dida is a class above all. no comparison dude :delol: :)
I'm really stunned by the physical state of our players. Milan is renowned for the scientific approach to physical and mental fitness, we have our own laboratory devoted to it, we have medical people working round the clock on it, providing the technical staff with data about it, etcetera...
Then why does Carlo exhaust the players this way? You can't play with almost the same 11 players that many matches, over a short time period, and still expect to do well enough to clinch BOTH the CL and the Scudetto. He ought to know that with all the scientific medical tools that he can call on.
Somehing is wrong here.

as the refereeing decisions are the biggest talking points that seems a good place to start :D so, basically both incidents were penalties and if they had been given i doubt Juve would have much room for complaint.
Collina got the decisions wrong but unlike us he only see's them once, refereeing is a tough job and in a match as high profile as that he had to be 100% sure to give them, clearly he wasnt :(
To focus on the refereeing is to ignore a few potential failings in our play though and its worth highlighting them for future reference.
Juve beat us today because they were well organised and willing to pressure our midfield all over the pitch in order to hurry our passing, because of that Sheva, JDT and Kaka were kept on the fringes of the game. They didnt come to win however, they came to draw and got lucky, scoring from their first meaningful attack gave them something to hold onto :(
The reason its important to learn from this is because this is exactly how Liverpool will play the CL final, and having seen Arsenal demolish them this afternoon with short quick passing, as well as having seen Liverpool take Juve apart at Anfield with the same high tempo style i hope we put out a team with a plan to do the same thing.
Milan didnt look like they planned to win this afternoon it was a case of "we'll pass it around and see what happens" i know its not something Berlusconi likes but starting with 5 in midfield (christmas tree) and playing a high tempo from the start would have worked far better today.
I think we really need to give our most needed players a rest as for the remaining league games, and let them get their bodies and minds ready for the CL final. If not, we might lose the double while trying to win it.
There are a few things I wanna say :
first: Collina is known as one of the best, a lot of people say THE best ref on earth and respected all over the world. Even if he made a mistake today, don't blame Milan's bad performance on him!
second: juve had this "hangover" syndrom a few weeks ago, remember ? It is just human to feel tired after such a heavy season.
third: I agree with dcvg - but it's not a question of the last month....if you look back the whole scudetto, there were plenty of moments when Milan leading comfortable.
Enough chances to give the keyplayers some extra rest. Maybe this could make a difference in the last hard weeks.
But it's not over yet, friends. I still believe in Milan. I believe in their will to win. I'm sure, I've seen it before. But to be honest - Milan's eyes are more focused on the the CL .

I`m agrre in your last comment about CL! Though it`s very pitty that Juve will win Scudetto! I have no comments about game because we lose and all my dreams broken!! Bye-Bye Scudetto! :gun:
don't worry. juve will lose to parma and livorno. i believe in this strongly.
an interesting fact is that whenever Milan beat Juve, Milan failed to win the title. :) Hopefully this means that Juve will get overconfident and lose at least TWO games out of the remaining 3. it can happen. it will happen. :) :delol:

Yes then we`ll be like Inter!!!! Please Milan win CL!!!!!!!!!!! :uhm: :pr115:
No club anywhere will ever be like Inter, so don't worry about that. ;)
But losing on two fronts is bad enough indeed. And that happens very often.

It can happen. I still remember when Lazio won the Scudetto coming back from 2 points behind, because Juve lost to Perugia on the final day. :grinser:
But the bad thing is Carletto was Juve's coach in those days. :str:

It`s difficult to win, when:
* The opponent score on the first attack
* two times a penalty is not given
* Inzaghi and Shevchenko don´take BIG chances.
Yes - than of course some Rubentus fans will say, that they also had many chances, but it was as a result of Milan did risk more.
I doubt we will catch them, as Juve play 3 teams that has nothing to play for. Parma is saved and Livorno and Cagliari don´t really care.
Milan have Palermo and Udinese who need points to play in Europa next season ... no .. I don`t think this will be enough.Even a draw today, would not have been enough I think.

Ive just read most of your comments guys...
Mixed feelings...
But most of you agress about starting JDT.
Do you guys think he deserves to be in the sqwad at all? i don't.
Well...I couldnt post untill now coz I was too angry....
We lost the scudetto, dont lie to yourself.
Juve has 3 easy matches, they will not drop 3 points.
We will on the other hand. Lets just rest some players for the liverpool game and hope we win CL. If we dont then by,by Carlo.....and for sure it will be like that.

Hey come on guys lets be honest with ourselves, the better team won. Milan played conservative and that bucycle kick by Del Peiro was sheer class, that is why he is Italia's golden boy. Serghino was the only one creative enough to cause a stir for milan but one player cannot do it alone, especially when the strikers are dormant. As far as Crespo goes, maybe you guys haven't heard but Chelsea is bringing him back from his loan. He does not want to go and his mental state was not in this game. Pippo was humours and had his chance but even Juve's defence outplayed that of the over priced milano side (Zambrotta's save on Pippo should be sufficient proof)

Yah, I'm thinking to email Zambrotta how to tug a player's shirt without getting a penalty. I think that's something Juventus surely outclass MIlan.

How long have you waited before the time was right for you to register and come in to humiliate us? :D I don't really care for your PSV-being-better-team-we-being-lucky talk, but I've got to admit that this one about Juventus-deservedly-beating-over-priced-milan really hurts me badly. :(
NO WAY JOSE!!! :ilol: :haha:

but when we lost to juventus, we hardly clinched the title either. A draw was what we were talking about.
I ACTUALLY STRONGLY agree with you, HONESTLY. I believe that Dopentus will reap only 3-5 points from the last three games. I don't have any hope on Cagliari, ;) (Their players should be in the vacation mood already. :beach: but maybe they will prove me wrong though  ). I do have great confidence in Parma (Gilardino :star:) and Livorno (Donadoni :star:). They are our briliant past and future. It is time for them to shine. :bright:
It is not absolutely impossible that one week from now, we will find ourselves again tied with Dopers. SO LET'S GO FOR IT!!!! :swars:
But I want to see Maldini, Cafu, Pirlo, Rino and sheva, kaka rested. Tough for Ancelotti.
Anyway, Forza Milan!!! :star: :star: :star:

man it was horrible. juve wont let us win it now. dont forget we have cl to think about and if ancelotti would rest the squad. also we have a very hard away game to udinese just a few days after the game with liverpool. i say we let the tittle go and win the CL. we cant win the scudetto now. today was the day to do it.

i see you have caught the Inter-itis bug. It comes straight from Loserville, from the district of PoorAttitude. We can't do the Inter and give up on the title. let's win em all. juve may lose to parma. keep believing. :p017:

And really, there is no harm to keep believing :)
That's the biggest asset that many people are not taking it :)
I agree with you two Jeff and Nadir, and it's just silly of Acmilanforeva to give up on the scudetto with 3 rounds remaining.
But still, we have to be a little conservative now. I think we need to put our priority with the Champions League, and give our most needed players a rest in the league matches. We can't afford to overstretch considering the physical condition of the players.

All I can say is I'm proud of the team and Ancelotti. Especially Carletto. After playing defensively trying to keep that 1-0 lead for the past few months. He finally found the cojones to attack. And when he recognised that Seedorf and Pirlo were out of form as they have been for the past few games, he made the switches asap. It was just like old times when we won the cl(except for kaka). Sergio and Rui were devastating Juve. And I have to say we deserved to win this. Talk of how Juve deserved it more at the end of the day is rubbish. We had the lion's share of possession. Juve didn't even have one clear cut chance(the goal was just a half chance and a really wierd and lucky goal). And we had two valid(one was not a strong one) penalty claims, one clear chance-which Buffon was really lucky more than anything to save-, and a few good chances. All I can say is, keep up the attacking mentality and we still have hope!

Due parole -- vaffunculo Collina.
Forza Grande Milan per sempre
:3band:
galliani and ancelotti are not always right, but i doubt they explictly asked for him, maybe when they knew he was likely to be appointed ref they make some encouraging comments about him for 'brownie points'
not that it worked
Yes they did in fact explicitly ask for Collina to officiate this match way the hell back in December before the Christmas break. So they should have been more careful at who they wished for in this match.
Now you are going over the top. I, for one, didn't think Collina was too bad today. But why would you call our fellow milan fans as fools? We were already hurt, and it is SO REASONABLE for me to see them letting the anger out on someone or something. And it is SO RIGHT especially Collina did make some mistake. What's so bad complaining a little bit?
Stop calling fools or crybabies. It is adding insults to injury. AFter all, we are brothers. and Collina is just a friend, to say the most.
It is never going over the top to at least get people to realize that they need to grow up a little. For one thing it isnt our a$$es on the field sweatin it out every gameday. Strange guys! Maldini seems not to be crying over this loss.
All we have to do now is to win the next 2 serie A matches vs lecce and palermo and see what the table looks like after that. I suspect that milan will rest half of first team players vs palermo, which might or might not be a right decision, in anticipation of CL final. Finally we have 1 week break, after playing every 3 days for 10 consecutive matches!

Okay, from a Juve fan perspective: you guys can say whatever you wanna say but I think Juventus played really well today. Im very proud of their performance. However I really dislike it when people regard us as the scudetto champions already !! 3 games with a 3 point lead ? Anything can happen. Being realistic of course it is highly unlikely that Juve'll throw their remaining 3 games away but anything can happen - and boy of all people Juventus would know that.
I really enjoyed watching Pippo coming back into the game - JDT was invisible. These few games Seedorf's distribution of the ball has been horrendous and I wonder if Carlo would still start him ? I actually expected Seedorf to be substituted earlier than Pirlo
Now regarding the remaining matches :
Day 36:
Juventus - Parma
Lecce - Milan
I think Milan should be able to win against Lecce, and perhaps Juve would probably be winners over Parma. Having said that, although Parma is battling relegation underestimating them would be a BIG, HUGE, MAGNANIMOUS mistake.
Day 37:
Livorno - Juventus
Milan - Palermo
Livorno have conceded 12 goals in 2 games but they did pull off certain surprises.. Palermo IMO is quite tough to beat but seeing that the game will be at San Siro probably 3 points to Milan
Day 38:
Juventus - Cagliari
Udinese - Milan
IMO this is the only tie that Milanistas should worry about ... Depending on the 4th place battle between Udinese and Sampdoria Udinese could very well cause an upset for Milan ... just a prediction. But Milan has enough agility and grit to withstand those
A depressing result that has blown everything . I only watched the last few minutes of the match because of the stupid timing and I thought we will score late as we always do but I was proven wrong this time . Serginho was brilliant in the few minutes I watched and he was excellent many times this season inspite of being used as a sub . We were robbed by disgraceful refereeing from the so called the world's best referee . A 100% penalty for Cafu wasn't awarded after he was brought down by Zambrotta . The old lady keeps its habit of stealing others through refereeing mistakes . It is so depressing that after all what we did this season we are trailing and waiting for a miracle at the decisive weeks . Anyway we must not give up in the final three weeks and who knows what will happen .

Cafu brought down by Zambrotta was a matter of interpretation - had Cafu not fell down rather dramatically, the penalty would have probably been given. At first glance even the commentators were not sure if it was a penalty. Other referees would go on with the play. Besides Cafu fouled Zambrotta first. It had nothing to do with Juventus 'robbing' Milan. Nesta deserved a red card, Inzaghi slapped Thurams head and pushed him. Nothing. In these big games these small things are usually waved away. Not just against Juventus, just big games in Italy generally.
It is sad to see that everytime Juventus plays even when they are admittedly the better team every insignificant detail had to tie with them and refereeing when if it was any other team the issue wouldnt matter. I was hoping Milanistas here would give their insight on the game and discuss the possible situations following the 3 matches ahead yet some are just plain whiny.
Yes, Serginho was brilliant, an immediate impact.
in what way did Nesta deserved a red card? By the way, he got a yellow card for that tackle I thought? (I check livescore. He got a yellow card. Collina gave him soon after the goal I think).
I have nothing to say about Inzaghi slapping Thurams from behind, because he did it. (Why, I am not sure).
Now When the hell did Cafu foul Zambrotta first before Zambrotta pulling his shirt? Cafu clearly stole the ball from Zambrotta from behind. Stealing the ball from behind is difficult + dangerous but that doesn't mean that it had to be a foul. If that's the case, then why do I need to pressure you from behind when you have the ball?
LBNL, Juventus were admittedly the better team, because they scored a goal, just like Milan were the better team against PSV in the 2 leagues because they managed to score an away goal at 90mins. That's all.
I hope I'm not against referee when Juventus is concerned. If it happened to Milan a player got pulled down in penalty box but no penalty given, I'll be really shameful and would prefer to admit the mistake and admit that it is lucky.
Juve played well, none of us was denying that. But Milan also did well.
After all, it's the goal that counted.

I really can`t see that Juve played better football than Milan. Juve played their usual play as against Bologna og Lazio and are just hoping somehow to get a goal. Milan was not at the best and had problems to get through Juve 9 men defense, but the best football team in this match and season is Milan, even it does not mean that we win the title.
Now ancelotti says he would like to join Roma! i think silvio / galliani blasted ancelotti in the dressing room.
this happened to capello when he was at Milan. Galliani told him "win the scudetto and then we'll sign a contract". capello replied "i'll win a scudetto and leave" and then he left for real madrid after he won the last scudetto with milan. i hope galliani didn't do the same to carlo.
Nesta deserved a red card, Inzaghi slapped Thurams head and pushed him. Nothing. In these big games these small things are usually waved away. Not just against Juventus, just big games in Italy generally.
why did nesta deserve a red card?
and you're wrong about "small things" being waved away. juve just had zlatan suspended for three games because of something that happened in a "big game" against inter.

Juventus has a history of refs helping them. it's hard for people here not to keep that in mind while commenting on the game. if you have been watching italian soccer as long as some of us have, you'll know what we mean.

Some very fair points there. But sehnsucht's not entirely wrong in saying some of these things are not generally noted and made a big hoo ha out of. Last season a "Man U-Arsenal" like situation occured in this clash and it went unpunished when at Old Trafford a whole slew of players were given suspensions.
But to say Cafu went down dramatically is just contradicting your point. All these things are considered 'small' and Cafu going down like any player would have when his shirt is tugged like that is 'a dramatic dive'?
Like Jeff said Juve were good, no doubt. But you can't say Milan were bad. As usual, Juve were good in the second half the ugly way they could be, defensively. It's no wonder neutral fans look forward to something like Barca-Real more since it's so open and both sides get to play their attacking football. Like I said I'm still proud of Carletto and the boys. They did a hell of a job attacking against a solid Juve defence. Luck was just not on our side :)

I didnt see this match, so I wont comment overmuch on that aspect of the game, but will instead focus on the result.
The one thing I will note however, with regard to the 90+ minutes, is that once again, Collina has come in for major criticism and indeed, if he missed the call on Cafu´s shirt pull, and in as big a match as this is, then that is yet another reason why he should retire, and sooner rather than later.
There are two points that I would like to share my thoughts on:
1. The result: Milan 0, Juve 1....and three games remaining.
2. Ancelotti´s statement in a post match interview that he will not be rotating his team.
To the first point:
Milan had this scudetto to win, had it in our grasp, and we let it go, a moment of brilliance from Del Piero has taken away any chance of going ahead of Juve and being in a more relaxed state of mind for the upcoming matches...now we can only play to win, and hope for Juve to lose 2 games out of three...or draw at least two, something I fear will just not happen.
They (Juve) see the way clear now to go for their umpteenth scudetto, and will not fail at these last hurdles. There will be many here who will criticise me for saying this, but this was the moment IMO that we lost the scudetto race, but such is life, I would rather the UCL title, than the scudetto anyway.
On the second point:
Carlo has an extremely talented squad with which to work, and IMO has failedto make best use of his players. Dhorasso, though having an injury plagued season, should have featured in more games, giving valuable rest to Seedorf and Pirlo, who are key players for us, and at this point in the season, are not at their physical best, due to Carlo playing them in match after match after match...I wonder how we would have fared had both of those players been rested on occasion?
His statement that he will not rest any of his players for the next remaining matches is a signal to all that he is willing to risk the health of his first team, to chase a bird that he is too proud, or desperate to see has already flown.
Here is where the season on a whole balances precarioulsy on a knife´s edge...why risk Kaka or Sheva in a game vs Lecce or Udinese when we have the holy grail of the UCL title to chase? Indeed, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
Nevertheless :3band: :3band: :3band: FORZA MIIIIIIIIIIILAN!
Yesterday I was at the stadium in the curva with Giovanni and Billy, the atmosphere was incredible even though we lost. I was having a lot of fun until the juve goal.
IMO Ancelotti made a wrong formation, Seedorf and Pirlo where and are out of form and our on form man where on the bench. In fact we did something when Serginho and Rui entered and why Ambrosini was left out?? another in form player!!.
Capello untilised the mininum that he had while Ancelotti no.
Now let's concentrate on the 25th May match and let juve win the league. We know that everyone wants the cup with big ears. NOI ANDIAMO AD INSTANBUL

Yesterday as soon as I knew Milan lost to juve I felt that my heart is broken
and it was bleeding but I did my best to hide these feeling espacialy
to my Mom since here in America it was Mother day and I invited her to good restautant
any way back to game I think that milan tired from playing psv
was reason that we lost but I didn't got to see this game .as I
read the comment about this game I do blame ancelotti for using seedrof
in this game not rui and altho I'm big inzaghi fan Idon't think it was
wise for Ancelotti to play inzaghi after all these injury in this game
hard luck to Milan and I was wondering who can Juve scored in 20 minute
and we were not able to score any goal in other 65 minute and I do blame
collina by not giving us pentely but does Milan can score just from pentely

AC gets and got in that game plenty of calls go their way so i think the excellent job done by collina was not a problem. I also hear some people in here bashing Buffon. What did u expect him to do, its the biggest game for juve he wanted to intimidate the best he could and he was happy for the win. Stop feeling sorry for yourselves and AC and just try and hope that they can atleast take it to penalties with Liverpool

Yesterday Milan ended a succesful run of not being beat vs. fellow "big" serie A teams. I can't think of the last time Juve, Inter, or Roma managed to beat them. Sometimes you get unlucky in these matches and let's leave it at that. Finish the season strong, in good health and ready for Istanbull. You never know what can still happen in the final 3 matches.

As I've said before , and you guys didnt trust me, carlo got it all wrong agian... 11 players cant play 10 matches in a row! Juve deserved victory and now we need to put some fresh legs in for lecce and palermo, we can still win those 2 games with likes of serginho, rui, pippo, kaladze...
If juve wins this 2 games than its all over, if someone, somehoe, stops them we have a chance in last round. Actually, we had our chance on sunday but carlo f...ed up. Now berlusconi and galliani need to make some smart moves at the end of the season, its not over yet, we need to fight and win the CL. But, who ever said that ancelotti got 100% out of milan's squad - is wrong!!
Capello outclased him and this is a really big problem, juve had a medium team and will win the title...it p...es me off!!!
This sounds suspiciously like Pulsar. Could he have changed teams again? :howler:

Ancelotti tried the rotation system two seasons ago when we won the CL. The result, the second stringers lost almost every match they played even though they were still talented players. They lost the ones that didn't matter(we were through with two games to go in the Cl group stages), and the ones that did as well. It's not that the second stringers were poor by any means. We had Simic, Billy, Ambro, Tomasson, Rivaldo, Leonardo, Redondo and a whole host of others to choose from. And often Carletto would mix them up with the first teamers. IMO the reason this didn't work was that the first team players couldn't gel with the second stringers. The first team was much more used to playing with each other.
That's why I feel Carletto has his reasons for not doing the rotations this season and just a few mere changes each match. Back then my suggestion was to probably do away with it or, if Carletto had the balls, to create two totally different teams to put out during matches(we had the depth, mind you). And so he has opted to play like other teams and decrease our size. I still stand by him.
"The look on Buffon's face says it all". Yeah, that Juve haven't beaten Milan in quite awhile.

Dont be silly, of course I know Juventus have had a history of refs helping them. What Juventini doesnt know that? Whilst it may be 'hard' for them not to keep that in mind in a blatantly no-favouring Juve match, it is still not a right thing to do. If the same decisions were against, say, Inter I would've expected the Inter forum to whine about this as much as they can and probably would laugh. I just expected better from here. After all such attitude differenciates the class of Milan and their disgusting neighbours

Exactly. IMO Seedorf was mediocre in the previous games and I would blame him mostly for Milan's first half performance... he was the missing link, his distribution of the ball was terrible. Will he start the following games with such form though ?
Exactly. IMO Seedorf was mediocre in the previous games and I would blame him mostly for Milan's first half performance... he was the missing link, his distribution of the ball was terrible. Will he start the following games with such form though ?
I would make the same comment only if he is used to play as a sub.
If you noticed, Juve was much more pressing in the first half, and was OBVIOUSLY tired from chasing the ball in the second half. This probably give sone of the reasons why Milan did so much better in the second half.
Meanwhile, Seedorf and Pirlo were both tightly marked through the first half, with Pirlo especially. If they were the substitute and was still that bad, then I would say put them on the bench.
For now they were up on the driving seats, it's difficult for them to pump immediately especially they were marked so tightly. If we had to be so critical about Seedorf (and/or Pirlo), then we had to be critical against Kaka` and Sheva as well, because seriously they didn't do much in most first half anyway in most games.
For instance, would you expect Kaka` to have so much space (and AMbro) against PSV at 90 minutes? If that scoring movement happened at the 1st minute, 99/100 a PSV player would have the stamina to mark one of the Milan players. The fact that even a well-trained team like PSV in terms of fitness could not keep up the pressure for the whole 90minutes simply explain why Milan seems to be 'lucky' to score at 90minutes.
It's no luck. We are more consistent throughout the game despite most of the time suffering. This's how our team plays.
Regarding the loss against Juventus, you can only blame Sheva + inzaghi and co for not taking their chances, while Juve did it, this time.
Forget about refereeing and luck. They were virtually useless as we talked here.
It can be/is unfair, especially when a huge refereeing mistake is invovled. (I still remembered how Barca keeper was unfairly blocked and the goal was counted for Chelsea. However unfortunate definitely because it's outrageous for that chelsea player to block the GK in that fashion). but let's live with it. It's ok to talk about it, but eventually, like Berlusconi said, 'tomorrow is another day'.

Regarding the loss against Juventus, you can only blame Sheva + inzaghi and co for not taking their chances, while Juve did it, this time.
Well, you have to blame the rest of the team as well. Just cuz the strikers don't take their only chance doesn't mean it's totally their fault. We have to blame the midfielders for not creating more chances as well. As stated, Pirlo and Seedorf were the main culprits. If they were on form the total flow of the game would have changed. The engine wasn't there. As usual only our defence made us proud. But it was good on Carletto to realise that and make the necesssary changes. Good on him after I criticized him for the past few matches. IMO Inzaghi's chance should have been a goal. It already went through Buffon's legs and he was really fortuitous that he still managed to stop it. So luck definitely did play a part, though the most major factor was the overall flow of the game. Juve attacked and controlled the game well in the first half, and defended really well in the second.
Let us face it, we have had all the small things going our way in some matches this season. Juve was not better than us, we were not better than Juve - it was just one of these days where we were not riding with luck. We had our chanes, could not take them...
Still 3 matches to play - nothing is over yet! Get 9 points, and hope Juve will lose one.. That is all we are asking for. Then we would get them in another Playoff. Juve cannot beat us twice in a row :-)

Point taken Jeff, Milan did find it difficult as they were tightly marked yet Kaka and Shevchenko the names you mentioned did manage to slot in a ball or two. Seedorf IMO was the necessary link between Milan and their strikers and though he had less space his crosses were abysmal! Milan had a difficult game against Juventus and PSV and in these two games most of the players managed to keep their heads in the game yet I find that Seedorf did not handle it well at all. And, to my mind it is no coincidence that only when he and Pirlo were substituted Milan became immediately effective.
Inzaghi was rather unlucky... Plus Zambrotta blocked the ball well when it got knocked off Gigi's legs. I thought Pippo did incredibly well in the game, he immediately put pressure on Juventus and the goal would've come if Juventus didnt hold out so strongly and perhaps if luck was on your side.
Just out of curiosity, how many penalty kicks have been awarded against juve in serie A this season so far?? :nunu: :gun:

Im disappointed we lost in this manner. Credit to Juve for holding up for so long.. I will not blame Collina for this loss, as our side is far better than Juve's, and we should have beaten them convincingly with this team (although, i think Zambrotta's tackle would have been in called in 80% of the occasions, and Cannavaro's in 50%). I have noticed in the last 10 games, I haven't seen Milan play ONE good 1st half yet (maybe only vs. Parma)..
We lacked creativity. You all saw what happened as soon as Rui came on. IMO, Rui should be starting the rest of the games till the end of the season. Pirlo has been disappointing as of late, the last 2 games were really bad for him. I think Rui should start in that position as we really really need that creativity of his. This 1 week break will does us good, especially Seedorf. IMO, Seedorf will play a great game vs Lecce next week. Gattuso wasn't his self also against Juve. I would say that there was a little luck in their goal that Trez's goal hit Dida's hand, and luckily went into goal rather into any other position.
Pippo seemed in promising form, he nearly scored seconds within coming on. Unfortunately, he shot it straight into Buffon. JDT was again disappointing, and IMO, he is the worst player for Milan this season. He hardly was ever in the right position for this game and only touched the ball in one occation and gave them a throw-in. I wonder why Crespo hasn't been starting recently? Serginho did some good work down the left flank. Sheva also wasnt his self today. He did pass Buffon in 1st half, but I do not know why didnt he finish the ball himself instead of passing it.
Anyway, let's just get 9 points from the following games so that at least we dont reget it if they drop points in their next games. Our game vs Lecce shouldn't be hard. It will be important for us to score as many goals as we can, shame we can't be Livorno at this point of season (they conceded 12 in the last 2 games!!!!!)..I think we will have ALOT of trouble trying to get 3 points from Udine, but I am convinced we are capable. Our game vs Palermo could be an advantage as it is going to be on Friday. If we win it, we will have pressure on Juve, and that could make them nervous, and hopefully drop points.
The 7th Champions League trophy is within our grabs.. If we get an early goal, I predict a 4-0 win! :)...
and again, lets all hope Juve drop points, as it will only serve them right after all those referee decisions from the previous seasons..comon Gilardino!! GET JUVE FOR US!! and btw, his price tag has just been raised to 35million! I am now convinced Milan will not buy him..I think he will ruin his career by going to Real and play as a sub.

i think i may be out of tune in this thread, but i was very pleased with the performance last sunday. i thought the players would be tired, but they proved me wrong since the second half was a whole crescendo.
maybe seedorf needs a break, but i admire seedorf for always looking for the ball and taking risks, even if he is not fit. pirlo is yet to regain full fitness from the last injury suffered, but i think it is more a matter of too quick a recovery.
and inzaghi is back in action, and with vengeance. i think he will make the starting 11 for istanbul, he is our jolly at the moment because he is 100% fit, 100% eager to make up for a very disappointing season and has mentioned he has dreamt of scoring in istanbul. same as in 2003, when sheva had a disappointing season and returned for the last month or so to help us win the cup.

I don't hold by doing this, I just say it because referees have to pay more attention. [Fabio] Cannavaro held me a few times but he was shrewd although I told referee Collina a few times he never answered me. It was clear they weren't going to be punished with a penalty. There was some fouls on me to dusturb me. I understood they were fouls to break up the game. They don't have to be serious fouls, just a little push is enough to put you off.'

Well it remains to be seen if this happens only to be Cannavaro vs. Shevchenko or Rest-of-defender vs. Shevchenko.
But indeed this is a strong accusation. I"m not surprised. And Sheva put it well: They knew how to tackle without getting punished.

After reading more posts in this thread, I have the following thoughts:
Milan is a machine, and like anyother, works because of its many parts...and when a small cog stops working, then the whole machine starts to misfire, and eventually stops performing optimally.
This analogy seems perfect for describing Milan in the last couple of games. We need to "replace" those parts that arent working optimally, "repair" them, and put them back in after they have been "fixed".
It is obvious that Seedorf and Pirlo, and maybe even Sheva to some extent, are tired, if not physically (which seems to be the case) then mentally (which is harder to pick up, but a factor nevertheless), and while JDT is in not IMO the right "part" for the Milan machine...the other replacement parts, aka Crespo and Pippo, need to be given their chance to perform.
That said, we have suffered from the lack of use of some of our better "bench" players, such as Serghino and Rui Costa. What else does Rui have to do to prove to Carlo that he can replace Pirlo? How many crosses does Serghino have to send over to Sheva´s head to make Carlo realise that he has a player that needs to feature more?
We live and we learn...at least some of us do...
But to return to the ref situation and Juve...wow, one penalty...hmmm something is rotten in Turin...an it aint the fish....
Good point. And remember that the bench players were the ones who got knocked out of Coppa Italia this season. Can we really blame Ancelotti for going with what he felt was his best team against Rubentus?

Well, IMO, he needs a better bench, and should sell/loan out those players who are simply just not good enough to cut it in a Milan jersey.......

nice analogy warro :)
i didn't get the opportunity to watch the whole game...only parts of it. therefore, i can't b*tch without knowing everything that went on during the game. i honestly believed that we were going to win this match, but i do realize that the players can't control everything that happens on the field (i.e calls!) i hope this match won't discourage our milan players, but modivate them to kick the ass' of the teams remaining. FORZA MILAN!
This sounds suspiciously like Pulsar. Could he have changed teams again? :howler:
I think Pulsar has the dignity not to call Milan as "our Milan". :mute:

I agree with you two Jeff and Nadir, and it's just silly of Acmilanforeva to give up on the scudetto with 3 rounds remaining.
But still, we have to be a little conservative now. I think we need to put our priority with the Champions League, and give our most needed players a rest in the league matches. We can't afford to overstretch considering the physical condition of the players.
man u misunderstood me. all im saying is that its nearly impossible now. and if we need to focus on the CL. im saying that it wont be ez against udinese and if we put our best squads for all the games its a danger that we might not be fully fit against a liverpool side who is preparing for this game since they beat chelsea in the semis. its just that guys id rather have us take the CL then risk loosing both for that small chance of wining the scudetto. ok here is what to do. against lecce we fully focus and put our best squad. if juve wins tho that means it will be very hard as they have 2 games which are not as hard as our 2 games.

exactly what I have been wondering. :nunu:
We want to move on but the loss really hurts.
we have been the better team all season they r able to top us in the table because of many contraversial decesions. and it isn't like they have been playing a nice style of football they have played the most destructive football i have ever seen.
the scudetto is gone!!
I hope we r still able to win the champions league

Well lets see nadir, ou tell jeff and i to stop or we'll be banned then you bash me and call me an inter fan along with jeff saying the same thing. Thats real productive. I would like to stop with this name calling but fellas handle your own end of the stick and for the rest lets think about who we should get as a coach next season and who we should get as LM and RB, trust me we need it for next season

"Yes Jeff good job pimphead, your mom knows what this pimp's head is all about, believe that. And with this crying and whining going on, come on ppl its over, we dont deserve anything this year, lets be happy with what we get"
What did u expect him to do, its the biggest game for juve he wanted to intimidate the best he could and he was happy for the win. Stop feeling sorry for yourselves and AC and just try and hope that they can atleast take it to penalties with Liverpool
And this is the answer to all of the quotes above, provided by you, obviously:
Thats real productive.

It's true that this game hurts. Obviously I (or we) have moved on, since my (our) mind is no longer on the game anymore.
But with now only 1 game per week, there is not much to talk about except for this thread and vs. Liverpool thread.
Oh wait, that's coz the next league game thread is missing.

I think you're overestimating Pulsar's dignity. :D Anyway, what Milan fan would call Milan "Ac"? I'm Pulsar's biggest fan, and I recognize his style. IP check, anyone?

Where art thou barracuda? ;)
I can provide Pulsy's IP from XT as a cross reference :devs:
PS: I agree with you Ruff, the posting style seems too familiar :devf:

First hacked by weird Brazilians, and now invaded by nutty Interisti! I suggest IPs of all members who have joined up in May be verified against Pulsar's. There's nothing I enjoy more than ruining his fun.

see there is a thing called feelings and emotions and after a loss like that u really are left hurt. im not mad at anything or anyone but its a depressing loss and it might cost as the scudetto but the CL is a different story :)

Getting back to the game played. It was unfortunate that we lost, but the goal that was scored was a very strong goal, with a great over the head kick and a clean finish. I was absolutely excited about being at the game, other than my ticket agent, got way to much for the ticket I bought from him, It was in the triple figure $xxx.xx, but I would pay it again to see my favorite team. Milan attched and attached and attached, we just couldnt get a good shot or a clear shoot on goal. You have to be respectful to the Juve teams ability this time to totally control our offence.
Would have loved to celebrate the win, but I respect each and everyone of the players that fought so hard in this game, maybe luck will still be on our side in the Series A, and Juve will fall to one of thier final games.
I hope that we can bounce back, get some rest and then conquer Liverpool in the CL finials.

wow,
I haven't visited XT since we lost to dopers, I am not strong enough to face those jerks in XT. :wallbang: Even reading their trashtalks makes me mad. How are things there anyway?
I will not go to XT until we win the UCL or until Dopers lose their next game. MM is our home and our home only, unlike XT. I don't feel I miss XT. :p1511:
Probably I did overestimate Pulsy's dignity. That damn bastard. :w209:

He is a real character, if you know what i mean. :) Very different from most others there. He happens to support Inter :p231: and spares no efforts chanting for any team we are going to play. :coffee:

Like a lot of Interisti on XT, Pulsar is simply obsessed with Milan. They have more Milan-related threads in their forum than Inter ones. I'd hate to accuse Pulsar definitely without an IP check, but it might be worth remembering that if a new poster sounds like he's not a Milan fan, that could be because he's a cugino instead. ;) No need to play into his game by getting upset at his comments. :de3:
