CHRISTIAN MALDINI SIGNS IN TIME FOR DERBY
10/18/2005
MILAN - There was a ceremony this morning at Rossoneri headquarters in Via Turati. Adriano Galliani, Christian Maldini and his mother, Adriana Fossa, signed the forms to allow Paolo's son to join AC Milan. Grandfather Cesare and grandmother Dianora Blanco were also present.

Christian was born on June 14, 1996 and will join one of the club's youth sides for players born in 1996, coached by Angelo Colombo who heads up the youth system. Christian's debut will be on Saturday against Inter as the youngster looks to follow in his father's footsteps. Go to the photogallery for the photos from the ceremony.

Looks like the Inter youth squad will get accustomed to getting their asses whipped at an early age :diablo:

FORZA CHRISTIAN

I was watching the DVD made for Fundazione Milan last year "Paolo Maldini: Il Film",
where Paolo plays alone with his 2 sons in San Siro... There's a comment by Paolo
about his son having the same style he has, and some things from grandpa Cesare...

Christian tackles exactly like Paolo... and Daniele, who is still a baby, probably 4 years old, kicks the ball like he had done it for years... who knows if Christian will end up playing in defense... Cesare was CB, Paolo LB most of his career... maybe Christian could be DM just not to be pursued by the ghosts of his grandfather and his dad...

A new Maldini on the pipeline? How exciting. I hope he can live up to his father's and grandfather's names

Honestly I believe that Paolo could have played and excelled anywhere on the field. He reads the game so well and has great vision. If Christian is as talented as his Father we could have a player who ends up a great #10 or striker.

I think Christian will be more like a DM... I can see the youngest kid (Daniel) playing forward...

I too saw that DVD Sant..I remeber the scene you are talking about. I just hope they don't put too much pressure on young Christian..I think signing him to the youth squad and holding a press conference was a bit extreme but made us Milanista's DROOL nonetheless.

Let's hope that media will not make pressure on this young boy. Despite the huge surname he has let's not forget he's still a kid.

I think his father could teach him how to handle this kind of pressure....he was faced by it too. I don't think he can avoid being compared to his father (and grandfather) all the time, with this name, in this club....it's impossible.

The pressure of having such father and grandfather can be dangerous, but in this case it`s more likely that it`s going to be very motivating.Growing up in such,so to say, environment can result in being prepared for anything that will be `out there` and all that followed by the pieces of advice of such greatness such are Paolo and Cesare has to produce a good, classy player, willing to prove himself on the pitch, regardless of what family he`s coming from.I strongly believe in this.Apart from everything else,la famiglia Maldini is famous for being very classy, i am sure that none of them would do anything to lose such reputation.
Forza Christian:)

When you are a very very young player (8-10 years old) joining a club like Milan, who will decide where you play, you or the coach?

Probably the coach will play you in several position, after few games, he can decide a position which suited you well.

In junior teams, and basically because the purpose is to teach them the basics, and to have fun learning to love the game, and being part of a team, the coaches let them play several positions...

many players who are now stars in a certain position, probably didn't start playing constantly until they were in their late teens... so probably Christian will get to see action in many roles... he may even be a GK from time to time... as they grow, they will discover they have talent for one or more positions...

Meazza, answering your question, I say it because often, the youngest kid is taller/stronger and somewhat opposite with regards to the older brother... Christian is totally like Paolo, physically and so far, also in the type of personality...

Little Daniel just seems to like to kick the ball hard (he's rightie)... plus, it would be a little too much to have both playing CM... altough I am definetely not against that ;)

I feel sorry for this kid,the country will be watching every step he takes on the pitch. He will always be compared to his father. But he look kind of cool on that pickture

Guys,

I have news for you.

official website
www.acmilan.it

listed under Difensori (defenders) is Mr. Christian Maldini.

What number is he wearing in his team? hopefully not 3, at least not yet...

Christian was conceived in 1995. Kaka' was 13 years old at the time... do you think they could have met somewhere between Brasil and Venezuela???

just kidding... no offense to Mrs. Maldini.

He's in this team ...
I can't say much about him.

His younger brother is in that team: http://www.acmilan.com/en/teams/youth_teams_results/547

Both are reported as defenders ...

That would be so awesome.

I know Galliani has a son, Gianluca, and that he is married. He is 37, so maybe a bit young to have a 14 year old son.

It is actually not too young to have a 14-year old. Many athletes are rich and young with kids.

Also, there are two FIORI twins, whom I believe are related to our former #3 goalkeeper.

Gianluca isn't an athlete though, he's a business man like his dad. I thin, at least.

Without dragging down this good topic, concerningly I read this today:

http://www.calciomercato.com/rassegna-stampa/inter-dopo-leo-tocca-a-kaka-e-maldini-704863

My brain is short circuiting at the thought of Maldini doing a "Leonardo"... Me and Im sure many others grew up idolising the great Paolo.
To Me He represents what being a rossonero is all about.
I hope there is no fire with the smoke coming from this story....

In this new world there is still loyal people even not many. We shouldn't be worried. Maldini won't take revenge towards the small number of fans discrediting him in game vs Fio (if I remember it correctly) when he made his last home/away game for the whole Milan attributes especially the fans. Anything is possible but I am sure that he won't work for Merda.
