CHRISTIAN MALDINI SIGNS IN TIME FOR DERBY
10/18/2005
MILAN - There was a ceremony this morning at Rossoneri headquarters in Via Turati. Adriano Galliani, Christian Maldini and his mother, Adriana Fossa, signed the forms to allow Paolo's son to join AC Milan. Grandfather Cesare and grandmother Dianora Blanco were also present.

Christian was born on June 14, 1996 and will join one of the club's youth sides for players born in 1996, coached by Angelo Colombo who heads up the youth system. Christian's debut will be on Saturday against Inter as the youngster looks to follow in his father's footsteps. Go to the photogallery for the photos from the ceremony.

I was watching the DVD made for Fundazione Milan last year "Paolo Maldini: Il Film",
where Paolo plays alone with his 2 sons in San Siro... There's a comment by Paolo
about his son having the same style he has, and some things from grandpa Cesare...

Christian tackles exactly like Paolo... and Daniele, who is still a baby, probably 4 years old, kicks the ball like he had done it for years... who knows if Christian will end up playing in defense... Cesare was CB, Paolo LB most of his career... maybe Christian could be DM just not to be pursued by the ghosts of his grandfather and his dad...

Honestly I believe that Paolo could have played and excelled anywhere on the field. He reads the game so well and has great vision. If Christian is as talented as his Father we could have a player who ends up a great #10 or striker.

I too saw that DVD Sant..I remeber the scene you are talking about. I just hope they don't put too much pressure on young Christian..I think signing him to the youth squad and holding a press conference was a bit extreme but made us Milanista's DROOL nonetheless.

Let's hope that media will not make pressure on this young boy. Despite the huge surname he has let's not forget he's still a kid.

I think his father could teach him how to handle this kind of pressure....he was faced by it too. I don't think he can avoid being compared to his father (and grandfather) all the time, with this name, in this club....it's impossible.

The pressure of having such father and grandfather can be dangerous,but in this case it`s more likely that it`s going to be very motivating.Growing up in such,so to say,environment can result in being prepared for anything that will be `out there` and all that followed by the pieces of advice of such greatness such are Paolo and Cesare has to produce a good,classy player,willing to prove himself on the pitch,regardless of what family he`s coming from.I strongly believe in this.Apart from everything else,la famiglia Maldini is famous for being very classy, i am sure that none of them would do anything to lose such reputation.
