So, the next game is Milan - Cagliari. Gazzetta Dello Sport at the moment gives following line up: :w186:

-----Inzaghi------ Gilardino------
-------------Kaka--------------
---Seedorf--- Vogel--- Gattuso---
Serginho--- Maldini--- Stam--- Simic
--------------Dida------------

Do you think maldini will play? He was planned for the match with Reggina, but felt pain on the training before the game...Maybe he should save himself for the game with Bayern? :5schal:

It's too early to even suggest a line up now. The game is not untill the up-comming weekend and some of the injuries are a day to day. Maldini and Sheva for example. If Maldini can go he will probably be selected because it is good to get him a game before Bayern. If he does not play against Cagliari then I don't see a possible way for him to play against the Germans. However it is too early now. There is 6 days to the game.

....It is dissapointing to know that we will be without Cafu for a long time now.

I can't see simic starting, also shevchenko will probs be playing hopefully

mrki
14-02-2006, 13:46
If maldini doesnt play this one,he wil not play in Munchen.aNd now it looks like he will not. Sheva can play for maybe a half, its enough.Nesta also. so maybe something like this.....
-----------------dida-------
--simic--stam---kaladze--serginho
--------------vogel------
--gattuso------------seedorf/Rui takes on in the second
--------------rui costa/ kaka' in in the second---
----------gila/sheva------pippo
Pirlo is on SPECIAL training regime to get him fit again, so just maybe he will play some decent football in Munchen.

Yes, I don't think Carlo will risk those who are coming back from injuries... Maybe Paolo would start (only if he feels 100%) but be replaced if he feels even a little bit of pain...

Being a home game, I'd say the line up could be:

Dida
Stam, Costacurta, Kaladze, Serginho
Gattuso, Vogel, Rui Costa, Kaka'
Inzaghi, Gilardino

MILAN-CAGLIARI: THE DISCIPLINARY SITUATION
2/14/2006
MILAN – Here is the disciplinary situation with Milan and Cagliari for Saturday night’s game at the San Siro. Two of Milan’s players have bans: Rui Costa and Stam. Cagliari players Agostini, Budel, Capone and Gobbi have bans, in addition to Langella's disqualification.

mrki
15-02-2006, 12:08
with rui cosrt and stam banned we need to change a bit.....dida-simic-costacurta-kaladze-serginho-vogel-gattuso-jankulovsky-kaka-gila-pippo. Too bad Rui is suspended becouse kaka' cant get any rest this way. MAybe marek can replace seedorf so clarence can be fesher for Munchen, kaka will be ok,he has enough energy in him left.

mrki: how do you know Pirlo is on a special training program? I didnt read that anywhere.. but i sure would expect it. Its very important to get him into form for Bayern, but im not too worried when we have a player like Vogel available. The only mistake Carlo can do is playing an off-form Pirlo instead of an in-form Vogel. Hope he has the guts to have Pirlo as a sub if he is not match fit.

Maybe this is also a game that Marek can finally have his 90 minutes. I hope for his sake that he puts in a good performance, he's been given dozens of chances already and still is yet to perform. Whats going on with Ambro? We need him for the rest of the season. I think Marek should take Seedorf's role and take the full 90 minutes, and keep Seedorf for Bayern. Im convinced that a fresh Seedorf will give Bayern ALOT of problems.

We might finally see maldini for part of the 2nd half. This definitely is a game for Amoroso to prove his worth. Hope he's given a chance. I would really like to see 4 of our strikers have a half each for this game. (im curious to see an Amoroso-Sheva partnership). Its crucial for Inzaghi to have a part in this game just to see that his performance against Reggina was no fluke.

Kaka should not play for the whole game, because it always affects his performance in the next game. I dont expect us to play all our four strikers though, i expect us to switch to a lone striker system later in the game. Thats typical Carlo style getting prepared for a midweek champions league game.

Here's my lineup:

Dida

Simic - Nesta - Kaladze (Maldini) - Serginho

Rino -- Vogel -- Jankulovski

Kaka

Amoroso(gila) - Sheva(pippo)

mrki: how do you know Pirlo is on a special training program? I didnt read that anywhere.. but i sure would expect it.

It was on acmilan.com...somewhere...not sure if it was on the ticker, or in one of the press confrence reports, but he is on a special programme...what that means..who knows..could be that he is being taught how to tackle? :D

Anyone kno what is happening with Sheva? Is he injured? Thought I read that somewhere...and if so, will he be available for this match?

Sheva is gonna play against Cagliari - its great..that means he definately will play against Bayern!!!!

Sheva got injured in the Cagliari game for a month, exactly 1 year ago :/ that was when Crespo excelled for us.. most notably against Man U and Roma

17-02-2006, 12:41
Pirlo is no some kind of special programm to get him going again. He didnt do any runnig in last few games and he cant play that way. Sheva? is he 100% fit? if not, better to take care of him untill the bayern match.... Maldini will most likely miss cagliari and Bayern, but he will be ready for Milan-Bayern second leg. Marek simply must play this one, he can help seedorf gain osme rest as he needs it.

Milan_Mad
17-02-2006, 12:44
Sheva will play same part of the game am sure same with Maldini. Pirlo and Seedorf both need rests in comes Vogel and Marek.

Chimenti is in net for Cagliari get in!!

According to milan.com Pirlo has influenza so he's not even in the squad for tomorrow.....but he will probably play against Bayern.
We're going to have Vogel in the team against Cagliari.

Seedorf, Vogel, Gattuso, Kaka - Gazzetta Dello Sport

hitmannq8
17-02-2006, 13:33
Nope not Kaka, we should play Rui in Kaka's spot.. and Seedorf must rest this game for Marek.. really, ive noticed that Seedorf's performances in games where we play after 3 or 4 days are always below par, mainly because he doesnt run and gets tired too fast.. its so crucial that Seedorf is in top form for the Bayern game.. thats why I think Seedorf must be rested for Marek. Kaka also shouldn't play for 90 minutes.

Im curious to see how Amoroso performs.

Jankulovsky reigistered in the squad as a "defender", does it mean he will play as a LB?

I don't think so....Serginho is always listed as midfielder, but this year he never plays there, so it doesn't mean anything.

Not only against Cagliari, but Maldini won't play against Bayern also :(

AC Milan captain Paolo Maldini will definitely miss the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie at FC Bayern München on 21 February after failing to recover from an ankle injury.

Training hope
The 37-year-old defender has been training with his team-mates for the past three weeks, but admitted recently that his ankle was still hurting and he would only play against Bayern if 100 per cent fit.

Miami break
Milan have now decided to send him to Miami for a week with midfielder Massimo Ambrosini to assist the healing process. Coach Carlo Ancelotti explained: "We think they can recover quicker if they train in warmer weather conditions." Maldini played every group-stage game as the Rossoneri won Group E with eleven points.

Yeah - shandong (SDTV-sports), Fujian (FJTV-sports), Shanghai (SHTV-sports), Guandong (GDTV-sports)

Juve drew 2-2 with Messina after Juve got a PK in the 81st min to take the lead 2-1. Messina, however, equalised 4-5 min later.

I know why Sheva is not on the list but Rui??? :hammer: :1ang: Carletto makes me sick all of this... he always try to play with his best players no matter that they can get really tired during this period of non stop games - almost two per week :w163: :finger:

Cagliari is not Inter or Roma... and also regarding upcoming clash with german side in UCL next tuesday, Kaka should get some rest :1old: unless we'll fail to preform in Muenchen and it would be very difficult to regain everything at San Siro.

For those watching on PPLive, the best quality stream is on "sports" - just go to the sports channel section in PPLive 1.1.0.7 (english version) and click on the channel titled "sports". It had the best quality steram for ManU-Liverpool and I am guessing that would be the case for Milan's game too.
I think shnaghai, guandong, fujian, and shandong have worse stream quality right now.

Gila scored for 1-0 from a PK after a great solo effort by Pippo. Not sure if it was 100% PK but Pippo was going clear on 1-1 with the GK when he fell down after a challange from 2 Cagliari players.

Great shot by Kaka from the PA line after he stole the ball from Cagliari's defence. The GK just tipped the ball to prevent the goal.

EDIT: kaka gets Pippo 1-1 with the GK but Pippo shoots high above the crossbar - incredible miss by Inzaghi. We should have scored more than just 1 goal by now after a couple of excellent chances.

zlatanov
18-02-2006, 15:28
True.
Milan is having a pretty good game so far, especially having in mind that there is a much more important one, and maybe season-deciding, coming in 2-3 days.
Special praise to Stam, Vogel, Seedorf, Kaka. Gila and Pipo are very active too, especially Inzaghi, but he did miss a great chance - still hard to believe he didn't score that one.

shevagol_7
18-02-2006, 15:30
Good half for Milan totally controlling the match. The penalty was an iffy decision, there was contact but I am not sure if it warranted a penalty. Inzaghi was clean through on goal but somehow managed to shoot the ball over the goal :groan:

Milan need another goal or two to close the match. Overall a good performance so far.

P.S. The pitch looks horrible, the players are having trouble keeping their feet. The pitch needs to be repaired before Bayern come to Milan.

yes he did. For a moment there he even looked he wouldn't continue but managed to go on. No reason to risk an injury for Stam in a moment when both maldini and cafu aren't available.
if the other players manage to keep the tempo up like in the 1st half, Stam's absence won't be felt. He was having a great game so far, though.

I think Rui is not allowed to play this game. And play Sheva? but why risk an injury to our top player when a game as important as the one in Munich is coming. Gila and Pippo are doing more than enough upfront. No need for Sheva, at leats for now.

3 days to rest muscles is very little especially if you have a problem, Sheva is not 24 any longer. Trust me I know I say, I am older than Sheva and I play several times a week for 80-90 min. Ancelotti has a point.

Sasha - would have called you Alexander if I thought you had more than 14-15 years of age - you are getting way over your head by calling anyone here a "moron", anyone, no matter who he or she is, as you are probably the only one who perfectly fits that description above. So, before you openly call someone a moron, someone you don't even know, wait till you at least finish high-school, so that you have a minimal cushion to fall on.
As for the game, 2nd half was far from what we showed in the first one, but I didn't really expect more given the game in Munich in 2 days from now. More or less, the team had a solid game but missed way too many easy chances to put the game beyong doubteven before the 2nd half came. What's most important is that we got 3 points thus cutting Juve's lead to 10, and getting in fron of Inter by 2, yet we managed to preserve some energy for Tuesday's CL game. Can't ask for much more than this.

Agreed too on Sash's loss of mind tempararily, hopefully.

Sash, you are clearly wrong on why Sheva sat on the bench,
Sheva was clearly in pain when he scored the 1st goal Wednesday before last.
Very often the pain stays low until the body cools off and takes a break.
The next training session Sheva must have felt different compared to the game when
he kept going and scored the 2nd. It was very wise to keep him on the bench especially
when there is no room for mistakes with a crucial game in 3 nights.

You were histerical and you should think about apologizing if you want someone to listen to you in the future.

And as for Sheva... I didn't see any official announcment that he is injured, and him not playing for 3 games in a row is just not right!

I am What?

you, Sash, cannot even put 2-3 sentences together. I got a full admission from that guy
that he is a nationalist and a UK hater. I rested my case without any insults.
You on the other hand not can't seem to write 2 sentences that make any sense together.

Guys, can we just start ignoring him and let the mod do the job? Please... this is Milan vs Cagliari not Sash vs. all...

For the game, we did very well. First half display is excellent while in the second half I'm glad to see that the defense has been very very very compact. (dida is not even tested). Very nice job.

Right, people stop arguing back with Sash!

Sash, you have broken a number of rules in this thread and are lucky your still on this forum. Chances are though you won't be here long. Also, I will be reporting your actions to an Admin.

Finally, to clear things up, Sash is NOT a moderator.

FORZA MILAN!!

Guys, lets use this case as a lesson... we know there is a lot of people here with different reasons to follow Milan, with different backgrounds and ideologies... and that should be something we can use to enrich our conversations...

so feel free to say you disagree whenever you do, and explain your point the best way you can... just always remember to be respectful with your fellow posters... and to yourself.

Thanks

The bottom line is that we won, a gritty game (from all reports) and via a dive from Pippo...after all the diving he did for Juve, its about time he did one that pays off for us.

Suffice it to say, Juve and Inter both dropped points, while the Viola, whose breath on the nape of my neck was beginning to annoy me, lost.

These are the games that we have to win, the ones where the teams try only to defend, and hit on the break. We won, 3 points, thanks Pipo and Gila (for scoring so nicely).

Second place is ours now. How long before Juve lose a game, or draw a few more?

I should also mention that I was happy to see where the team hugged Kaladze after the game, in a show of support for the bereaved player.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Kala...in this most troubling time for you.

FORZA KALA!! Thanks for your performance, and I am so sorry for your loss.
