bahhhh, he's got no right foot !

dont worry Gio, Utd will take good care of his development :D he'll be in the first team fully from next year if he stays on schedule, and hopefully within a few years he should be forming a scarily talented attacking trio with Ronny and Rooney. Maybe he'll be in the Italy squad by the 2010 world cup?

Cool... have you guys read anything about his personality or general behavior? is the a quiet kid, or a rebel like Cassano?

Stezagud

so far he seems to be a model pro, the Utd players and management have had nothing but good things to say about him so far. According to Fergie he has an American attitude to sport and winning. For the record he has 26 goals in 22 reserve games this season, and 4 in his 11 appearances for the first team (though many of those 11 were as a late sub)

SANT

did he already play for Italy under-XX team? or can he still choose to play for USA?

I think being developed in England, under the Man Utd. people and Fergie should contribute to make him, at least, well mannered...

He can still choose, if i was USA id call him him to there world cup squad see if he accepts.

As am here in England and have a brother and dad who support Man Utd iv'e got to see rossi alot of late in the carling cup and he looks a very good player also in the resvers which he is to good for.

True, Fergie's record for bringing through youth players is second to none, he's even managed to tame Rooney (to an extent ;) )

I hate to think about Giuseppe Rossi... a young and bright italian talent should be ours, not of Man U...

Giovanni
11-03-2006, 03:20
but i reckon in england young talents can grow up and improve better because they have less pressure and less distractions

in italy all the tv showgirls (you know, italian tv is packed with these girls ;) ) want to find a football player because they are young, rich and often good looking. sometimes they get lost between a disco and another party (adriano rules , he's always dicking around in milanese clubs  )

basically the plan is this: due to the fact fergie stole us before he could get professional, we'll steal rossi once the hard work to make him improve is done. quid pro quo ;)

the guy with this family name should play in azzuri, I will be very disapointed if he goes for amerikan team, can you imagine once Rossi scoring against Italy???:(

Giovanni
14-03-2006, 03:15
the guy is a potential heir of baggio, why would he choose the american team with all the due respect? loo at his face, he looks like the son of micheal corleone

SANT
14-03-2006, 13:12
Yeah, but you will remember that Michael Corleone was a war hero for the US military...
until he met a beautiful Siciliana... maybe we need to introduce G.Rossi to a nice Italian girl...

I am sure he knows the Azzurri represent a lot more than the US team (with all due respect also)

Does the residency rule still exist?

It used to be the case that if a player played in a country for 5 years without becoming an International then they can switch to their new 'home'

in which case, you might be seeing a lot of this :D

Now I am a fan of the US national team, but can someone explain why he would want to play for the Americans? I think he will end up in Italy, although I would love to see a young talent like that with the USA. There will probably be a battle for him, I think he will choose Italy because of the football tradition.

I read several weeks ago (I can't find the link, but I recall it quite well) that he wants to play for Italy because of his heritage. The only reason I could ever see him choosing to play for the US is less competition for playing time. He wouldn't have to compete for time against Gila and forwards of that caliber that Italy has at its disposal.

funny you should say that, the headline on The Mirror today is "Pope to visit Britain" :D

As for Cudicini, we were so desperate we wouldve done anything to spare us from the torture of having David James in goal

Rossi is the type of player which Italy misses often, he can make passes , play behind forwards, so he will compete not with Gilardino but with I do not know whom, totti and delpiero are already veterans and I do not see any other really talented italian player good for that role

the lad is an absolute pro, so down to earth and polite.

and with ruud becoming 30 in july his years are soon finished and giuseppe will be his replacement.

Rossi has started ahead of Ruud today, 2nd half is about to kick off for any who can get Prem games and want to see him play...

how was his game stezagud. rossi is amazing, for his age. i wish he was here with us!

He played quite well but didnt have any clear cut chances to score, his link up play was good though, and it will be great to see him work with Rooney in the future.

Richardson was probably the most impressive youngster though, his goal was a 25 yard screamer and he also smacked one off the bar (which bounced down 3/4s over the line then out  ) from 30 yards after running from his own half

He will definetly play with Italy and I am glad he has made this decision. I am a Man United fan aswell as a Milan one and I think Rossi playing for Italy has many advantages for the boy himself and Manchester United. Italy are a better team than the US for a start and playing with the world's best will be good for his development and if he decided to play with the US he would have to go on trans-atlantic flights all the time which might affect him when playing for United.

Well, some good news for all Milan fans here

From Skysports:

Manchester United starlet Giuseppe Rossi has expressed a desire to return to Italy at some stage in his career.

Red Devils chief Sir Alex Ferguson prised the youngster away from Parma in 2004 and he has high hopes for the 19-year-old.

With Ruud van Nistelrooy departed, Rossi could play a key role at Old Trafford this season, but he admits that a return to Serie A is on the agenda in the future.

"My dream is to come back to Italy where there is a more technical and tactical football," Rossi told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"In The Premiership competitive spirit are the favourite, even if clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea have changed their mentality."

Rossi grew up watching Dutch star Marco van Basten shine for Milan and he admits a switch to the Rossoneri would be a dream transfer.

"I have a liking for Milan, my idol was Marco van Basten," he added. "Then arrived Sheva (Andrei Shevchenko) and now I could see him even closer (at Chelsea)."

Rossi has been given the nod by Italy Under-21 coach Pierluigi Casiraghi and he is looking forward to the chance to represent his country.

"I'm really happy for the call-up," he declared. "It's a unique occasion and I want to play my best."

So after being called up for the U-21's, he's not stated that at some point he'd like to return to Italy and a move to Milan would be a dream for him. Giovanni will be pleased :D
