Yes... the nightmare is already alive and kicking... :(
Let's hope it won't get worse..
I'm staying, I'm leaving....could these people make up their minds or is that an impossibility? Hate silly season...
FROM channel4....
I’m joining Toro, says Abbiati Monday 17 July, 2006
Italian international goalkeeper Christian Abbiati has suggested he will be guarding the Torino net during the 2006-07 campaign.
“I’m joining a club with a clear project already defined,” said the highly-rated custodian on Monday.
“I’ve spoken to [President Urbano] Cairo and their director general and it seems to me that this type of plan already exists at Torino.”
Abbiati’s future has been in doubt for some months once he returned to Milan during the summer after spending last term on loan at Juventus.
He’s already told Milan that he doesn’t want to stay at the San Siro unless he’s assured first team football and his chances of remaining at Juventus have ended with their demotion.
Abbiati has also been linked with moves to Roma, Inter and Arsenal over the last 24 months after losing his place in the Milan side to Nelson Dida.
It’s unclear at this stage whether Abbiati will join Toro on loan, in a co-ownership deal or on a permanent basis.

Is Dida leaving? I didnt read a single thing about that scenario.
BTW: 'silly season' kicks ass when you are in a buying situation...
Well, yes, I agree...it's a fine season when things are actually happening, and by that I mean more than the whispers we've been hearing lately. I'll be disappointed if we lose more players b/c of the ruling, tho I suppose the silver lining could be that it'll weed out those who are not loyal to the team after all. I'm not saying Abbiati isn't, b/c many times he's said he's rossonero thru and thru....but I understand his need to play and know he's the #1. Christian I shall wish good luck to if the move happens.

"AC MILAN CONSIDERING SCHILLACCI TO REPLACE SHEVCHENKO"
"Milano 18/7/2006.- In an unprecedent move, italian giants AC Milan director Ariedo Braida, has met with former Juventus star Salvatore Schillacci, now 45 years old, to close a deal that would bring the top scorer of the 1990 World Cup to the rossoneri.
As part of this exchange, Milan would send Gennaro Gattuso and Andrea Pirlo, as well as promising youth player Christian Maldini, now 10 years old, to Juventus in serie B, or "Toto's" favorite charity.
Betandwin.com could sponsor part of this deal, after changing the name and logo to Bwin.com, and having named Gianluigi Buffon as their new worldwide spokesperson. With this transfer, Milan pretends to give new strength to their attack, after Ricardo Kaka' announced that he would leave Milan for Real Madrid, and after he got a tattoo of Satan on his forehead"

That is some way to insult some members who don't know how to speculate during the transfer season! I think you forgot to mention the biggest news of all -- 'Liedholm's return to Milan' ( This one would have been more fascinating than Toto's return.)

Does Berlusconi is just waiting for the players to ask for a move after the final veredict? Or will he make a mega offer for Buffon&Zambrotta?

I was a bit concerned too, but I think (and I surely I hope) that Milan administration knows what they are doing (no sarcasm intended).

can someone translate this plsssssss
it says that Juventus is not happy that we sold Abbiati to Torino, so the Buffon deal is probably off. They don't want us to have Buffon now, as the previously agreed deal was Buffon for Abbiati plus cash.
Anyway, we will see.

.
It doesn't has to mean that Milan lost Gigi ! It can mean 2 things :
1.Milan partially blew it. Secco will try to get much more money from this "incident" with Abbiati going to Torino. Buffon will prefer Italy (Milan) than any other club, but it's still Juventus that decides where to sell him. Berlu knows this and now he'll only be "blackmailed" to give much more money than he was supposed to.
2. Milan really blew it. Roma is also an attractive destination. They have a great team with 3 Italian NT players (Totti, Perotta, De Rossi), they have few more top quality players (Mancini, Chivu), and now they are one of the Top candidates for winning lo Scudetto, and they'll even play in Champions league. They'll get the money they need now and they can afford Buffon.
Plus, Secco already said how he's seriously thinking about the 1 year loan offer (Gigi in Roma - Doni in Juve).
btw, besides Milan and Roma, 2 more teams are after Gigi, but they're not tellin' us the names of these 2 clubs :rollani:

I agree this reminds me of the Gila story...I think Juve want a lot of money for Buffon...if we really want the keeper then we will have to go for him with a ton of cash.

I don't think the abbiati deal is a sign of Milan screwing up. What I think is that it is a sign for Milan to really get Buffon. Since it is a known fact that Juve wants Abbiati and why would Milan let him go if they are serious about getting any Juve players. What I think is that, Juve just wants cash instead of players since they know they will be losing tons of money over the next three seasons
i think milan sending abbiati to torino means were closer to buffon, i dont think abbiati would want to play in B especially on loan, sending him to torino which means hell stick to the same city he was in last season means that once juve are back he can be sold to them, in return milan get buffon
I have a feeling that Abbiati to Torino, it is not likely Juve have him again, with -30 point to start next season in Series B and loss all key players Juve can possibly go to series C the season after next. So it is at least Juve is 3 seasons away from series A. Probably at that time Abbiati will already have a comfortable home somewhere.
This is really a sign that Buffon is coming to Milan, when Dida is not extending contact, Milan did not get Abbiati back, this means they already have Buffon.
If we can get Buffon and Zambrotta we are done for the defense:
GK: Buffon, Kalac, Flori
DF: Maldini, Cafu, Costacurta, Nesta, Kalaz, Serginho, Simic, Favali, Zambrotta (5 possible CDs + 8 possible left/right backs) not including Janku
Done. Probably we can loan Favalli.
Mindhuc,
Fiori has retired... probably Kalac will be out too, Coppola should be listed in, unless he is the one loaned out... I think he will be Milan's 2nd keeper, behind Dida or Gigi.
Favalli is an experienced player, with 1 year contract, he will not be loaned out, he probably be the first replacement as LB behind Serginho... or Zambrotta... maybe Milan's management had not considered that all this scandal was going to free so many players...
I didn't know that Fiori has retired? About Kalac, he has expressed his will to go back to Australia this summer, but I understand that he still has a contract. So if necessary, I am very sure that Milan will keep him. He is not reliable (proved by WC), but as a backup, probably that's going to be fine.
Are you sure that Favalli was offered one-year contract? You know, Milan usually offers at least two-year contract (initial contract here), no matter how old they are, ;) to show their respect. The only one-year contract I can remember was for the poor Greek goalie with the long name who later immediately was replaced by Kalac. But I do agree with you, I don't think he will leave. And I rate him actually higher than Azzurri's hero Grosso. Not just because he will play in Inter, that's just my gut feeling. Favalli could have a few good years left in him, like Pancaro maybe?
I doubt that Milan society didn't realize all of a sudden so many players are freed up. They know a lot more than we can imagine. Even if you have a lot of money, this huge supply of quality players won't happen every year; and not every team with money can have whoever they want. Even with Chelsea getting Shevchenko and Ballack, they are still leagues behind us. Berlusconi should realize: IF there is ever a time to spend, it is now. Grab whoever is on the market while they are available. You don't want players to change their minds. Gallas, for example. :yuck:
OK... I want an Italian NT in Milan, with some foreigners, really good ones. like Kaka, Kaladze. And we should keep Serginho just to thank him for annihilating Inter again and again. We still need him for the next years' two derbies. :ilol:
keeping myself dreaming...
My 8 Italians + 3 foreigners lineup:
----------------Buffon------------------------
----Zambrotta-----Nesta----Kaladze----Maldini-----
------------Gattuso------Ambrosini-----------------
----------------------Pirlo------------------------
Foggia---------------------------------------------
------------------Kaka'----------------------------
--------------------------Gilardino------------------
well, actually, it is 9 Italians and 2 foreigners. with Super, the one and only, :D Paulo Inzaghi :D ready to come in any time for Ambrosini in case we need some extra firepower upfront.
How does that look? I say super, and not unrealistic at all. with that lineup and a right momentum, we could win 33 matches and draw 5. despite the 15 points handicap, Inter can only humiliate themselves once again.
The only question is: I am not so sure whether Foggia is a right winger or left winger. Also, I don't know whether Ancelotti would be brave enough to use him already. If he is a right winger, then him and Zambrotta probably would overlap a bit in offensive. Then again, it is easy to adjust: just bring Zambrotta to the left; or make Kaka stay in the left. Not to forget our great captain is not old yet. :proud:
As always, FORZA MILAN! :5schal:
c'mon.. Maldini can't play 90 mins as a left fullback. Zambrotta will play LB while we'll sign a new RB

Milan complicate Buffon move:
http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/jul19c.html
I believe in Dida. He can step it up next year. Instead of spending this crazy amounts of money on Buffon, why not find a replacement for Cafu, find a central defender to partner Nesta, and a solid striker. I just think it's kind of crazy spending 30mill on a goalie when you have so many more important flaws to fix.

Dida have only one year left on his current contract and has not been able to agree a new one. He has 2 average seasons ahead of him and he's getting older. On top of that the best goalkeeper in the world is available, of course we should sign Buffon if possible!
There would still be money left to buy 2-3 more players I think. We have to do that to compensate for starting with -15 points...
All I'm saying is that a lot of teams are winning with average goalies. I consider Buffon by far the best goalie in soccer hands down. I just think having a decent goalie in Dida a solid central defense of Nesta/Kaladze and hopefully with the addition of Zambrotta at LB, WHO NEEDS BUFFON!!!!!!

I totally understand your opinion, but Juventus also had one of the best defences in the world and still Buffon had to show that he is the best goalkeeper in the world. If we can get our hands on the best of the best without breaking the bank, then we should. In my opinion... :w200:

we do... imagine if he goes to real or inter.. its bloody hard to get a goal by him.. Dida has 1 year left on his contract and he is 33, i think its time for a change..
the whole abbiati buffon issue has really enoyed me, again in some ways Milan has put the players wishes(abbiati wants to play for torino) over the greater good of the club (having the best goalie in the world). think there needs to be a bigger drive to be the best of the best of the best...

Definitely!! If it can be done without breaking the bank, I'm all for it.
it seems ridiculous that we were so close to getting Buffon with money + Abbiati and then we let Abbiati go to Torino.
Think about it Baresi, we have/had the chance to get the world's best keeper now for a lesser amount of money (because they're in serie B and because they wanted Abbiati) than his normal price and we may have blown it. Dida looks set to not sign a new contract meaning he can leave for nothing next summer, which realistically means this is the last transfer period we have when we can get a good price for him. If we wait until January we'll get next to nothing for him and if he goes next summer we'll get a big fat zero for him. Then we would have to spend big on a keeper, so why not get Buffon now ?
Maybe we can still get him and Zambrotta if we just offer cash or something.
On a side note, i wouldn't be surprised if Juve manage to get Amelia (sp?).
I trully believe this year Milan really needs to dive in the market. Being docked 15 points is a problem, but I'm sure we can attract many world-class players. Last couple of years we've done excellent in picking up 1 or 2 players who immediately dived into the starting 11. This year, we lost Stam,Costa, and Sheva!! Maldini and Costacurta, as much as I believe they're still great players, won't contribute much anymore. Seedorf isn't as reliable as he use to be and in attack we have nothing except for Gila. So, I say we do it Inter-style this summer and just go for it. You also make an excellent point Jim_UK

Maybe Abbiati didn't want to play in Serie B for two years? If that is the case, I can understand it.
i agree with your last post also Baresi, we've lost quite a few members of the squad and replacing them would be hard enough, but when you add the trial and the constant and increasing rumours of our players (pirlo, gattuso, kaka, etc) moving on, it makes this transfer period almost impossible.
Maybe we can offer Juve cash + Dida or Coppola or Kalac ?
Agreed Arildonardo, as much as i want to Buffon in our team, i guess Abbiati must come first and if he didn't want to play for Juve in serie B, then we can't force him to go.
I'd still like to know how much we officially got for Shevchenko. No one seems to really know for certain.
isn't milan still waiting for the appeal, then decide the transfer policy? I mean, to official announce whatever is going on?

Or all of this can be posturing a la Gila sale. I doubt that if Milan really want Buffon they would jeapordize it by selling Abbiati. I am sure there are other methods in place to get him.
Furthermore, you cannot force a player to go somewhere.
Buffon wants to come to Milan. Milan want Buffon. 2 key components are present.
Hasan Rossonero is right. I don't like the fact that players today act like 5 yr old schoolgirls, but in the case of Juve, I understand that a good number of their players want to leave after the club's dismissal from serie a. Buffon had one of the better world cups, is still in his prime (28-29 yrs old), and wants to come to Milan. A 15-20 million euro offer will change Juve's mind real quick. There is a lot of misdirected talk right now, but I think when it's all said and done, we will have Buffon, Ibrahimovic, Zambrotta, and Ze Roberto, in addition to playing serie A and UEFA cup football. A few weeks ago had anyone given me this scenario, I would have gladly taken it.

Well.. I really think we spoilt this Buffon opportunity. The Milan executives were looking out for Abbiati's wants. But if you realize.. Dida has one year left on his contract.. Abbiati is loaned for one year. Milan states they will not sell Dida. I expect Dida to be between our posts this 2006-2007 season.. while Abbiati takes over in 2007-2008. I don't foresee Milan spending tons of money just for a goalkeeper when we have more pressing issues to handle.

Buffon Boost Fo Bianconeri (http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=404359&CPID=21&clid=128&lid=8&title=Buffon+boost+for+Bianconeri)
Gianluigi Buffon's agent has stated that the World Cup winning goalkeeper will remain with Juventus in Serie B next season.
The Italian international, widely regarded as the world's best shot-stopper, had been expected to leave the Bianconeri after the sanctions imposed on the club for their part in the Italian match-fixing scandal.
With clubs such as Arsenal, Roma and Milan reportedly circling it seemed as though a season in Serie B with a 30-point deduction would be too much to stomach for a star who is accustomed to the biggest stages.
However, Silvano Martina has now handed Juventus a huge boost in their bid to bounce back from the scandal, insisting that Buffon is prepared to stay with the Turin side for the coming campaign after they turned down an approach from Roma.
"Gigi is staying with Juventus," said Martina.
"He's ready to play in Serie B. There was a bid from Roma to take him on loan but Juve didn't consider it.
"The club said what any club would have, Buffon is an international and they could sell him for a vast fee, there's no reason to loan him."
Just adding another source for this story. This is definitely a lost opportunity for Milan if Buffon stays with Juve (that is unless he wants to).
:p231:
:wallbang: :wallbang:
OK....is this like a poker game, where everyone is trying to outwit and out-manuver everyone else? what will I read tomorrow?
Could this be thinking of the long-term as well? Since we still have Dida, who has a contract that ends next year (?), who's going to be #1 keeper when we do get Buffon this year? And Milan has iterated previously that Dida is not leaving unless Dida wishes too...Maybe Milan will consider it again if Dida decides not to renew his contract. (Just speculating)

what? ... how are you convinced that hell join us if u just read that he wants to play in serieB?
It looks like an orchestrated movements, mk18. According to many sources, the two boards had a meeting at via Turati - the headline of La Gazzetta is "Milan, manone su Buffon"-, and then the player's manager just start to say that his client will stay in Juve to play in Serie B, but, in a calculated way, let the door open to a move - just if Juve want and the two clubs agree a deal.
One day before he was saying something tottaly different.
Many changes in a short space of time.
looks suspicious to me. But...
Guys, i can't guarantee Buffon will go to Milan, but there's no chance he'll stay with Juve.
Juventus can't afford him and all these statements from Secco and Martina are for 1 reason only : higher price .
Juve lost huge amount of money, they are losing more money everyday, and they will keep Del Piero (possibily even Nedved) who has huge wages. Do you really think Juve can afford paying so much money to the best goalkeeper in the world ???
Juventus board always knew how to get as much more possibile money for it's players. They know the game and they play it perfectly.
The only thing confusing me is Abbiati's transfer to Torino. Everything seemed OK, and i don't believe Berlu would have done such an idiotic thing and blow up everything. Now he risks not to get Buffon, and he'll certanly have to pay much more then he should have.
The only explaination i can find is Abbiatti's wish to play in Serie A and refusing to play for Juve !

"Buffon has never won Serie B and want to win it."
What kind of crap is that? He's the best goalkeeper in the world and suddenly he stays i Serie B? I'm shocked... Who wants to win Serie B when he can win Serie A and the UEFA Cup? This is strange... :dontkn:
Incredible!! I thought Buffon joining Milan were a mere formality. I dont know what has happened, but I fail to believe that Berlusconi, Braida, et. al would make a "mistake" and loan out Abbiati to Torino, thus missing out on Buffon. It cannot be that simple. And about Berlusconi respecting the wishes of a player above the club, that is simply bs. If he respected Abbiati's wishes so much, he would have let him go years ago. It was Berlu who convinced (i.e. twisted his arm) Abbiati to remain at Milan as second choice over the last couple of seasons, and it was Berlu who sent Abbiati to Juve last season for his own reasons.
If you put yourself in Juve's position, then you need to ask why Juve would sell any player to a rival? Why would you let a rival benefit from your downfall, especially when you feel that the rival got off lightly? If I were Juve, I would sell all of my players overseas just to make sure that none of my "enemies" benefited. THe only stumbling block is the player's wishes. Juve has to sell, regardless.. So if Buffon and Zambrotta refuse to agree personal terms with Barca, Real, Chelsea and specify directly that they will deal only with Milan, then they're as good as ours, otherwise, I think they would be sold overseas.
Debs and Tony 29, you are spot on, i am sure that will happen, lets just hope and see, and not pay too much for players, the bbc said that the transfer market was a buyers market so we have to play our cards right and save money!

I could be completly wrong , but here goes :
For Buffon a no to Milan is actually yes.
He has promised to come to Milan.

Buffon aint coming I assure you all
First and foremost, Juve cant afford to keep GiGi even if they wanted to.. They have a wage cap to keep in consideration. If they wanted to keep Nedved & Del Piero, they would have to sell GiGi to bring down the total salary paid. It would make perfect marketing and football sense to sell Gigi.
I hope they take into consideration of the favour we did them when we loaned Abbiati to them and sell Gigi to us instead..
here's the diarra link ... it's originally from Tuttosport, so i don't think there's much truth to it :D
All it says is we might go for him, nothing of any value really.

FFS! First, our board policy is to sign 30+ yr old freebies that have experience, and not many of us liked it, but it proved useful so we shut up.. Now, after the best GK and LB/RB in the world say they want to join Milan, we just simply lose them for doing pathetic business such as selling Abbiati to Torino! Now buffon wants to stay at juve and Zambrotta is really close to joining Barca. I wont forgive our board for this mistake if we didnt get both of them.
Im actually hoping Galliani's appeal for his 1 - year ban fails so we get someone new. Im fed up with his system. Chances like these dont come around every transfer window.

Hope u r right Hassan.
The thing is that whenever Milan paid for players over the past yrs, the results were great. Nesta, Kaka, Rui Costa, Pippo, Gilardino.
When they trade for someone, it also good too, Pirlo, Seedorf.
But when they sign someone for Free, with the exception of Cafu, and to certain extend Pancaro, it has been a disaster, Rivaldo got his moments but nothing else, Bobo was horrible( I am a huge Bobo fan by the way), JDT was solid and could not consider great, Amuraso is the worst signing since Javi Moreno, thats all I can think of now, as I am very upset about what the team is doing over the past days. it is like they are giving up without a fight.
Buffon will be rossonero.
I hope so, Gio!! It's just that all these games they play are maddening. One reason we call this the silly season--it's all silly games and talk!

Really? I read that Gigi is staying with Juventus and Zambrotta is goin to Barcelona.
in the world cup dida was ok he really did well, but in CL against Lyon he was in six’s and seven's, although against Barca he was good, look he is very inconsistent but if nothing better comes along then he is a good bet.

I'm not sure what to believe atm. Right now, to me it seems that we are definately not getting the whole picture. I'm hearing contradictory statements on a daily basis.
More than anything, I don't think Juve want to sell to Milan, especially considering the clubs aren't on best of terms and so are trying to milk as much money out of others and sell to them. Personally, I don't know whether this means we won't get players, as Juve more than anything have to consider themselves, and right now they're in dire need of cash.

I have no idea how Juventus are gonna handle Serie B. Most of their first team players are leaving. LOL. They're gonna stay in serie B for at least 2 seasons. HA HA HA. It seems to me Gigi can only win the Serie B with Juventus in their 2nd season. I think it's almost impossible for him to win Serie B in his first season since the club has a -30 point.
I think he should consider his options since he has a higher chance to win the Serie A with us and get a shot at CL next season.

if dida was italy's keeper we would have never won the WC, that's the difference between a good keeper and a great keeper. buffon is in the same breath as the greatest of the history. dida is good keeper on the instinctive saves, but his technique is quite poor.

I think it's a really stupid decison that he's going to stay with Juve. He's one of the Top 3 Keepers in the World and he's beeing wasted in Serie B for AT LEAST two seasons.
He should leave to ever Milan or Barca. I think Milan would be the better choice as he wouldn't have to adapt to a new change of life, he's still playing in the same league and he'd still be able to keep in contact with friends and other family members in Italy, then if he goes to Barcelona in Spain.
But he's not.. wasted ability in Serie B.
I guess if he's gonna costs 20 mil pounds, Berlu should cash on Gigi as he is THE BEST goalkeeper in the world right now
People what are you all talking about? Buffon won't stay with Juve, period !
He wouldn't have stayed even if Juve was left in Serie A !
While he was winning with Juve he said that he wants a new challenge, and he didn't mean Serie B to be the new challenge. I don't like the fact that he's leaving, but he really is leaving.
To the guy above, who asked what will Juve do in serie B without the best players...
Man, of course the best players will leave, but there is still enough quality left to make Juve by far the best team in 2nd league. Del Piero stays 100%, after the talks with Deschamps Pavel Nedved also confirmed he'll stay. Marchionni, Zanetti, Tudor, Bojinov etc are enough to be superior in the league, but with -30 points it will be almost impossibille to get the 6th, play-off spot.
Last year, 6th placed team had 66 points, which means Juve will have to get around 96-98 points in 42 matches to get the 6th place. Record of 30-7-5 can be achieved, but like i said, it will be more than tough !
Good luck !
buffon is leaving, if he stays hes limiting his chances of playing for italy in the euros (who are favs to win it) and he already asked for a new challenge, we should buy him, dida is a great goalkeeper but im not happy that he doesnt want to extend his contract and we can miss out on buffon and on dida at the same time
just sign him Milan...he is the best in the world...we already lost Zambrotta to Barca....at least give us Buffon!

Guys, as a Juve fan i've been telling you since i joined how Buffon will play for Milan. Gio (who seems to be well informed) is also telling you how Buffon will join Milan.
Why are you so untrustable ?:)
I know that the latest transfer news makes you sceptics, and i'll let you calling me names if he won't come :)...but i'm sure he'll play for Milan.
I was sure the deal was made since the time Abbiatti joined Juve last season. Gigi's girlfriend specifically asked for Milano or Rome to be his next destination. Since Juve rejected Roma's offer, then he'll go in Milano , and the team won't be Inter.
Zambrotta was another case. He never did say he wants to go to Milan, it was just one article in Gazzetta where it was said (Juve related papers denied Zambro will go to Milan, and they never denied this about Buffon). Zambro was always saying how he won't leave Juve for another Italian club, and it's not the case with Buffon.
Don't worry !

even if buffon comes or not, im still not that happy, our priority is a RB, we had to get zambrotta at all costs, same with gallas we didnt and rivals did, now we have to look for options that are worse, pasquale of whoever isnt a zambrotta replacement, despite his 30 years of age, 14 million on him would have been a great deal, gallas could have just been added to the sheva deal, yet we dont mention him and instead we give chelsea sheva for a fairly cheap price

Totally agree with you on this....like i mentioned before...buffon is a luxury...he is the best goalkeeper in the world but our main problem at the moment is finding a suitable replacement for Stam. We will now probably sign Oddo for that rb spot but its not the same as missing out on zambro. Gallas had preety strong comments to make againts the italian after loosing the match so i doubt we will be seing him in milan. We have to probably sign a couple of players from Fiorentina or Lazio or players from a different league in order to compete as a major force once again.
We need a central defender.. right back.. and striker. A leftback would be nice also. We have a good supply of midfielders at the moment. A lot of young ones too.
from Sky Sports
Juventus boss Didier Deschamps has stated that World Cup-winning keeper Gianluigi Buffon will remain at the club despite their relegation to Serie B.
The Old Lady of Italian football were sent down to the second tier after being found guilty of match fixing.
The exodus has already started, with Lilian Thuram, Fabio Cannavaro, Emerson and Gianluca Zambrotta heading for pastures new.
Talisman Alessandro Del Piero has, though, pledged to stay in Turin and Buffon seems set to follow suit.
"We have managed to keep the goalkeeper. I am 100 percent certain that Buffon is staying," said Deschamps.
"It is important that we have managed to keep a world-class goalkeeper and a world-class striker, so that we are well covered at both sides of the pitch.
"Currently, four players have left, but I am hopeful some others will decide to stay with us."
Deschamps is also attempting to persuade France star David Trezeguet to stay with the club.
"It is important that we keep Trezeguet because his worth is undeniable. Also I have the added advantage of knowing him very well from when we played together.
"I spoke to him before the sentence, but he is on holiday now and we must wait for him to come back before we know what his decision will be. It's up to him."
now and Deschamps is saying that Buffon will stay with Juve, i guess he won't come to Milan but we'll see i don't believe Juve management so much

We need a pair of central defenders, a pair of forwards and desperatly a right back. I'd like to see the likes of Buffon, Oddo, Perea, Lugano, Suazo and Crespo arriving after the final veredict. But my real dream is Gerrard.
And we need to get rid of Amoroso and Dida. Specially the former.
I see a Borriello on our team page.. is he really good?
In your opinion(directed at anyone) who should leave and who should come this summer ?
And who exactly have we loaned out of the young talents.. and who are we keeping.
Nirvana.. in my opinion.. getting Buffon is great but not a necessity. We have to reinforce the defense/forwards first.

i think buffon is a necessity especially with dida leaving next year, but its not enough theres still alot more to buy (in order of preference):
Right Back:
- Daniel Alves
- Miguel
- Oddo
Centre Back (2 of them, 1 of which can play as RB):
- Gallas
- Alex
- Marquez
- Perea
- Ujfalufsi (sp?)
Striker (2 of them 1 instead of amoroso):
- Tevez
- Suazo
- Klose
- Toni
- Makaay
- Crespo
- Trezeguet
- Zlatan
Other:
ZE ROBERTO (left midfield) & DIARRA (defensive midfield)

For RB we ahve lots of options, LB as mentioned we are more than covered, but CD from those above I think only Alex and Perea (can play RB too) are plausible options - Gallas is basically sure to stay with Chelski after the got him a new, very rich ;) contract, Marquez just signed a new deal with Barca, and Ujfalusi is simply not good enough for Milan IMO.
As for forwards, the list of possibilities is so long that everything seems possible right now.
So then who should leave..?

So then who should leave..?
the team right now is full of players that have come back from loan. They would either be sold or reloaned, Boriello being one of them. Depending on who we sign, Did might be sold, Simic could also leave. Not sure whether Vogel would have the patience to stay for much longer as with the arrival of Brocchi his chances to play would get even smaller.
Amoroso could also leave if we get Crespo and one other forward. we'll have to wait and see.
So then who should leave..?
Goalkeepers:
- Dida (only if buffon/frey comes)
- Fiore (retired)
- Coppolla (to be loaned - but i would rather have him stay as 3rd choice behind buffon and kalac)
Defenders:
- Simic (but not important if he doesnt)
Midfielders:
- Ambrosini/Vogel (i want to edit my previous post where I want Diarra to join us in Defensive Midfield, ambro is my first choice between him and vogel since hes always injured and his chances to play would be very limited with rino and diarra ahead of him)
- Dalla Bona (probably loan again)
- Brocchi (another loan or he can leave if he wants, depends on what happens with vogel)
Strikers:
- Amoroso
- Boriello (loan)

He said last night: "We want to bring Buffon to Milan. But he has asked us for more time to think things over."

I just came up with my conspiracy theory... I think the reason Buffon doesn't move to milan is all due to our new sponser - Bet and Win... I can't imagine if he puts on that jersey, how many people will start making comments on him as you all know his so called "gambling" issue was brought up in the scandal. It's just ironic to see Buffon and Bwin together. I think that's why he stays in Juve... :pr78:
If Buffon comes to us, I am sure that we can win the Scudetto for the next year;
If Buffon stays at Juventus, I am sure that they can make it to the playoffs and come back to A next year.
Want to BET? :ilol:
as for us i think that even without buffon can make Sccudeto but not good chances but i belive in our players ..
as for juve YOUR ON !!
so you think that Juventus will manage to keep Buffon? :(
You know they are now making the last attempt to make Serie B bigger, which would be great news for Juventus. More games, higher chances to make it the final six. I am afraid that they could make it.
But we shall wait to see where Buffon is first. :)
There is no way that a player of Buffon's caliber will play in serie b over the next two seasons. If simply does not make sense. The guy is heading into the prime of his career, is Italy's number 1 keeper. Without serie a football, his career will go down the toilet. I think he will switch clubs, whether he comes to us, i dont know....i sure hope so, though....
i didn't say that buffon will manage with juve ..
all i was trying to say was .. milan is not depended in one player at less if he is not on our squad ! .. Juventus neither
but that's your oppinion and im Allright with it ;)
There are reports in papers that Buffon will join Milan for 25 mil. But things got complicated becouse of Milans unvillingness to give Abiatti to Juve.. WHYY?? I dont know.... Anyway, thigs will soon be clear. Maybe even in the next few days.
25 mil for Buffon, too much for a re-active player, when this team is oviously lacking proactive players.
I think it all depends no Gigi now. Juve will have to sell him regardless. A player of his quality should not be playing in serie b. If Gigi comes out and says that he wants Milan and only Milan, then it will definitely happen. Otherwise, Juve will definitely prefer to sell him elsewhere. Remember the Gilardino saga? He could have gone anywhere, and probably for more money, but his insistence on Milan was what got him here...

Imagine having Gigi in net for Milan. Can't wait for that. Hopefully, Viera will also join him.
And that Zambrotta will cancel his contract with Barcelona and come to Milan
Well i don't think he can cancel his contract just like that .. after not playin any game for Barca :( and maybe he is happy there .. but it's going to be very hard for him to make the first squad

From calciomercato:
(Tuttosport)
Really like it! With some patience, and increasing our bid in a couple of million, I presume we can hir them.

Forza Milan... Finally all the headlines are... Milan is making a huge bid for Torres, Diarra could arrive after Milan are fighting with Real, Milan are making a 40 million bid for Ibra and Gigi, Suazo likes Milans interest in him... WOOHOO
Anyway. 40 Million is a fair price for the pair (Gigi, Ibra), but I am not sure Juve will accept that offer, I actually doubt it. Dont underestimate Ibra, he is a quality striker and I have followed him ever since he was at Ajax, besides 90% of Sweden will start supporting Milan. For everyone, no player that we are chasing is s*it, because if Milan are chasing them, they are top class, for e.g Ibra.

we've always been associated with Diarra, particularly after we played them last year. I think that tie where he was just a monster on the pitch coupled with Gattuso's less effective performances convinced them to go for him.
We let Man Utd, Real and the others make the noises while we kept monitoring the situation. Hopefully now it will come to fruition and we will buy the colossus of Lyon.

That's the thing aobut the silly season--a team can say one thing publically, and then something totally different is occurring behind the scenes. I am not saying that he is not a quality striker. My main concern with him is that I very much doubt he would be successful at Milan in Serie A. For instance, I am sure he would do great at Real or Barca and probably even in EPL but don't think he would fit in Seire A. That doesn't mean he isn't a quality striker/player though.
Torres is pretty tough guy, he can play in serie a, well that ios what I think. He needs to improve few things, but is great player even now. I hate the fact im leaving for vacation tommorow and again I will not be able to know what is Braida doing with my team :) damn, these transfer periods.....

totally agree with your striker choices. i want tevez at milan badly to replace sheva and hope that we can get crespo back to milan to replace amoruso. Suazo is also a welcomed addition.
I am not keen on Klose, torres and ibra.
Somehow poor ol' Gigi got lost in this thread. I want to start a new discussion. What do you folks feel is the realistic chance of Gigi arriving at Milan? Factors to consider in your reply would be:
1) If Gigi leaves Juve, who will Juve replace him with?
2) Will Juve want to see him to a team that they will be competing against for the league title in 2 yrs time...and small chance in 1 yrs time?
3) If Milan don't get Gigi, who will they sign to replace Dida for 2007-08?
4) Are Milan ready to make a ridiculous 50 million euro offer for just a single player. I thought financial stability was always a priority at Milan?
Here is my opinion:
Milan may try and hand over at least one keeper (maybe even Dida) to Juve in exchange. It would be perfect, they would get Buffon, the price would be lower, Juve would get a top quality keeper. The only problem would be Juve's desire to sell to us. If he's gotta go, they'd rather sell him to Arsenal or Man Utd (both need a younger keeper).
However, going back to a more realistic opinion, I doubt Dida will want to play in Serie B either. He'd rather fight for a place for 1 season and leave on a Bosman next year.
So I think the ONLY thing that can help in getting the player we all desire so much is the player's will himself. If Gigi were to say to Juve "Look...I really want to go play for Milan. Thank you for everything, but please negotiate exclusively with them and reach an agreement" (a la Gilardino-Parma saga), then we may have a chance.

that's a clever idea...but as you point out it is a long shot and not only that it is far too complex a transaction. we would have to beat Livorno for Tudor's signature only to sell him to Livorno.
and if Tudor is valued at $3.5 million (hypothetically) then why not just offer $3.5+Coppola for Amelia?
- Livorno could use the cash to buy Tudor

Juve announce Belardi swoop Tuesday 8 August, 2006
Juventus have signed goalkeeper Emanuele Belardi on a one-year loan deal from Reggina, the club have confirmed.
The 29-year-old put pen to paper on a contract this morning which gives the Turin giants the opportunity to buy him outright next summer.
The custodian made his debut in 1995 with the Amaranto outfit and has spent the last three seasons on loan at Napoli, Modena and most recently Catanzaro in Serie B.
Belardi’s move is yet another reinforcement for the demoted Bianconeri after the arrival of midfielders Marco Marchionni and Cristiano Zanetti, plus forward Valeri Bojinov.
Belardi will join Gianluigi Buffon and Antonio Mirante to complete the Juventino goalkeeping line-up, although speculation is still linking the world champion with a move to Milan.
Buffon could be replaced by Livorno’s Marco Amelia, who is said to be part of the proposed deal between Milan and Juve.
The Rossoneri intend to buy Amelia and then transfer him to the Turin club, along with cash, in exchange for Buffon.

===========================================
Now we are risking to lose Buffon as well.....our cousin really are tormenting us right now
channel4.com
==================
After signing the Juventus duo of Patrick Vieira and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Inter chief Massimo Moratti is reportedly eyeing a move for Gigi Buffon.
Stories in the peninsula on Friday suggest that the Via Durini outfit expressed an interest in the world champion during negotiations for Ibra’s transfer on Wednesday.
The Nerazzurri are understood to have offered the Old Lady almost £13m and veteran ‘keeper Francesco Toldo in return for the current Italian No 1.
Although Buffon has pledged his future to the Bianconeri outfit he could be tempted by the opportunity of competing for the Scudetto and playing in the Champions League this term.
Juventus have declared that the player is untransferable, but may now consider the option of letting him go if Inter striker Julio Cruz were to be included in the move.
Moratti’s club, who take on Juventus tonight in a three-team tournament along with Napoli, is now considering Juve’s request for Cruz to be included in any proposed deal for the custodian.
It’s unclear, though, whether the 32-year-oold Argentine would accept Second Division football – even with La Vecchia Signora.
Milan are also still in the race to sign Buffon and are seemingly waiting to make an offer after their Champions League preliminary round tie against Red Star Belgrade on August 23.
Juventus fans are keeping their fingers crossed that Buffon doesn’t move on to Inter as the Tuttosport newspaper, based in Turin, outlined today.
Their front page underlined the frustration of the supporters who haven’t taken too kindly to Juventus strengthening their great rivals this summer.
Another one....
Inter-Milan, derby anche per Buffon
11 08 2006
Grazia Neri

i have a high opinion of Buffon and think he is a winner by mentality and personality i.e. he has no place in a team like Inter. If he does go, however, it would mean that he did so only for the cash and in that case I am not so sure I would want him in our team, which is what was bothering me the most about ibra too, and for a reason.
plus, there is always Amelia as an option, who's like a carbon-copy of Buffon's only cheaper and 4 years younger. i know that Buffo is all the hype now but believe Amelia will turn out to be the smarter buy in the end of the day.
I can understand why won't Juve sell their players to us, but i can not understand why are they selling them to Inter. If we are kidding, but with some truth in it, we can say that Juventus knows selling all these player to Milan will make us invincibile for a long time and they can say bye bye to the trophies for at least 10 years, while if they sell them to Inter there is a chance Inter won't take an advantage of their quality.
But if we are serious we will have to look for the real reason in some other place. It's a long shoot, but is it posibile Inter is holding all the cards now with Rossi being the ase. Juventus with only -17 in B was a big favour for them, and now it's maybe a pay back time ?
Nevertheless, Moratti is slowly learning his lesson. He splashed 1 B Euro for peanuts and one piece of paper from court where is writen how his team won Serie A in 2005/06. He bought all those players and won nothing, and now, when he saw how we and Juve always outsmarted him, now he's after Juve players and our transfer targets thinking how that is the way to success.
But it's not the players mr. Moratti, it's the team spirit that wins trophies, and you don't have it. Pirlo and Seedeorf were awful in your team and look at them now. Crespo was average in your team but a deadly weapon for us. The same will happen with Vieira even with Ibra, and the same will happen with Buffon if Inter buy him.

Inter is just pathetic. I'm sure they're making the fans happy with these signings, but like every summer this is the only time they're winning :nana:
If Inter buys Buffon as well, they will have a potentially strong squad. This isn't like years past when they sell half their team to buy another team and replace the manager. They will have some continuity this year. The consolation, of course, is that they are Inter and that means that no matter what they do, they will choke. It's pathetic to see them buying everyone though. Berlusconi has let us down. I cannot understand this nonsense. It has nothing to do with the CL. We have not spent any of the money we received for Sheva (let alone any other money). I hope our fans protest or do something in Milan. This has been a horrible summer for us...

And might I remind all that the summer is not yet over? Might I remind all that Buffon is well into his 30s, and if/when we get Amelia, we will have our keeper for the future?
Does the name Real Madrid and the term:Galactico´s mean anything to anyone? Remind me of when last they won anything, after buying up every "star" on the planet?
Do I really need to make this post? Do I really need to reiterate all I have said before?
What do you all want? For Milan to go out and, a la Real and Moratti, buy every player with a "name" or reputation? Do you want us to build carefully, picking the best players for a long term strategy, or go out and shop like there is no tomorrow?
What have Inter deservedly won (ie on the pitch) recently? An Italian cup or two? With billions spent in transfers? What?
Sorry, but you are beginning to sound like spoilt children. How old is Buffon? Give me a break? He could "hurt" himself again this pre-season, and not feature for anyone until January, as happened to him last season..or have we forgotten last season already?
This is my last post in the transfer rumors section for a while, as I am getting a little frustrated with all the wailing and woe, all the depression, and assaults on Milan´s management.
How many of you will be willing to eat your words when we do make some buys?

As others have said, Buffon is 28. Younger, and much, much better than Dida. Who said that we wanted to buy every player on the planet? Personally, I don't want us to buy every player on the planet. Madrid and Inter historically have been stupid in that they kept buying names not players based on positional needs. Inter historically has won very little in recent years, but this year, Inter has kept their key players and manager from last season and have strengthened their team. If they buy Buffon as well, then that's a very solid transfer campain, IMO. I'm advocating buying based on need. We need a striker, we need another midfielder and defender and any team would be stronger with Buffon. I like the Gourcuff purchase and I think Bonera and Favalli are good squad players, but how can we not replace Sheva? We got a lot of money for Sheva's sale. Where did it go? I'm not convinced our transfer campaign is over, but so far it's been underwhelming. I'd be very happy to eat my words if I'm wrong.

Unfortunatelly, my friend, it's useless to discuss with that people... they don't want, like us two, Milan to be a stronger side, with more squad depth, with more tathical and technical options at hand... no, they DON'T wanna that at all, they wanna us to be a weaker side, not even replacing the departed players... yes, they wanna us to turn into some punny, mediocre regional side of the lowest league possible.
But I, just like you as well, deeply want the board to prove I'm wrong, showing that they still have ambitions, that they still can bring only the best players for us.

well said, i think the milan board has gone to sleep
Surely the time to be moaning about our transfers will be after the August 31st deadline when everything is finalised and completed ?
Gre-no-li stop being so melodramatic ! Because someone is trying to offer a different viewpoint you've gone all defensive and think that none of us want Milan to be a strong team or that we'd settle for second best. What a ridiculous and frankly immature statement.
Like i said, the time to demonstrate would be after the deadline, not while things can still be resolved.

Lets hope we're wrong! As Jim said, we still have time. If by August 31 nothing has happened, then we have a right to be very upset. It would be nice to see us make some transfers before the last minute though.

I agree about Amelia, but you have the rest all wrong.
Buffon is not well into his 30's.
Milan are not "buying everything in sight".
We just need ONE TOP NOTCH forward,
a strong keeper to replace Dida who will leave at the end of this year,
hopefully a GOOD YOUNG defender (our average age of Milan's starting defense was 35 1/4). Bonera is a great start, one more please and not some 32/34+ year old.
How the heck you can equate Milan buying a few good players to Real Madrid is beyond me. Huge leap.

Well, in my opinion getting a new keeper is the least of our otherwise BIG transfer problems... so the ABSOLUTE priorities are those, on the following order:
1) a seconda punta like Torres.
2) an attacking RB, like Miguel.
3) a multifunctional midfielder, like Diarra or Sneijder.

There's no way in the world that Sneijder is multifunctional. He lacks the build to play DM, or the pace to play WM. Was very unimpressive in the WC. not Milan quality.
Torres, Tevez, Diarra, Buffon, & Gallas please Mr Berlusconi.
Needs: Striker, Defender - Torres, Gallas
Luxuries: Goalkeeper, Midfielder, Another Striker - Buffon, Diarra, Tevez
Needs vs Luxuries
Needs: Immediate openings, Injury-proned positions :1whis: :5hoest:
Luxuries: Means can wait till next transfer season, sudden or rare availability, or we want them before Inter or any other club gets them :beach:
Torres.. AND Tevez ? You're going to spend so much money to land one of those on the bench ? Some manager you'd be.
I still cant believe we havent done anything after selling our best player for big money....its like a bad dream or something. we have about 2 weeks untill the transfer window closes, lets hope.

Do you know that Sneijder was so injuried before world cup 1 week that he was almost kicked out of Netherland's list? And did you watch the last match of Netherland? after 1-0? IMO, he was very interesting with many long shot on target and nearly scored sometime. He's a good transfer IMO. But after we had Gourcuff, I can't find any position for Sneijder if we play with 4-4-2:D <a reason that I love 4-3-2-1, and we won't have to buy Tevez or Torres:D>.

I believe Dida should and may still have a future with Milan as he is a very skilled player and has given us some good years. He's definitely not had to much to celebrate about with his recent performances for us, but nevertheless he was still picked to start for Brazil and was also included in Fifa's top 10 goalies. If the rumors about him going to Corinthians are indeed true, I would say Amelia is his best replacement. He is a promising youngster with a lot of football ahead of him. Other goalies that should also be highly considered in my opinion are; Frey and Flavio Roma. All great goalies that could reach superstardom levels with Milan.
Josh-Sheva

Frey, yes Roma, NO
He was good 1 season ago, this season he was rubbish!
He wasn't in the Italy squad, plus Monaco didn't trust him too much either, how old is he now anyways?
Flavio Roma is pushing it at 32 years of age, but he is in the current Italy squad under Donadoni that will face Croatia. His best might be behind him, but at Milan he could possibly have a revival like many players that come here do.
