----------------------not Dida-----------------------
Heitinga-----------Chivi------Nesta-------Shwienstager
------------------------Pirlo-------------------------
-----------Gerrard--------------Diarra (Mancini?)------
------------------------Kaka-------------------------
---------------Sheva-------------Gila---------------

This is my squad for the nex year:

players out:
Dida- big man, I liked him, but his time has came.
Cafu, Maldini, Stam- too old and not stable.
Gattuso- he runs a lot every match and very emotional, except that he pretty worthless. We just look not strong in the midfield like we used to, and even got ourselves humiliated in that area by Lyon and Barca infront of our own fans... that says it all.
Seedorf- same reasons as Gattuso, and I also tired of him. Time for a change...

Players in:
GK- whoever: Coupet, Frey... there are many good young goalkeepers out there.
Heitinga- great defender playing for Ajax and holland national team. Everyone who follows Ajax and dutch football will agree with me.
Chivu- no need to explain.
Shwainstiger- best german player for sure, and not Ballack. Him and Heitinga are very flexible and can add much in the midfield and attack. This kind of players that can do all: defend, hold the ball, be creative and support the attack are the basis for every great team.
Gerrard- same as Gattuso but with talent. Not only he is the engine of the team, but also can score and set up another players.
Diarra/Mancini- if u want more muscles and possesion than Diarra, if u want more creativity than Mancini.

Players to stay:
Nesta- maybe the best CD in the world.
Pirlo- has very crapy season, lets hope he will improve next year. He should stay, because when he plays right he is the best in his department.
Kaka- the future "Totti" of Milan, ofcause he should stay.
Sheva-....
Gila- same as Pirlo, he had a crapy season. But remember when he hitted Barca's post, the way he "steal" the ball from that two defenders, not many in the world can do that...

Also Ancheloti should leave, no point for him to stay. The best replacement I can think of is Hiddink, maybe the best coach in the world, the problem is he isn't available... maybe van Basten than?

Well this is my squad for the next season, hope to hear what u have to say. I know that there was a thread similar to this, couldn't find it though...

Heitinga..is good but not sure if ajax can give. We shud have had swapped him for stam hehehehe
chivu..tired of him, his thread has been there for 2 years and there hasn't been any serious stuff. Recently i had heard that berlu is going to get roma a tv right deal which wud give them 80 mn euros in all (haah that freakin big) and instead of that we wud get chivu!

schweinsteiger...yeah he is so good i don't think he is defender he is attacking midfielder, istead i was thinking abt podolski, who is in soon to be relegated team - koln, who is equally good.

gerrard forget it, first of all he won't be sold and even if he is it wud be around 50 mn pounds so that liverpool has money to build their new stadium

diarra man u or real will snatch, what an awesome player and mancini has done gr8 this season but again its very unrealistic of him coming to milan

goal keepers... hmmm we have to get some1 gud. I see it this way:

new castle had taken a big loan to buy the money minded owen from real and they haven't done anything new with him so if they are in a big debt then we shud snatch shay given from them. he's 30 and saving new castle's a$$ alot of times.

good thread... stupid post!

my dream team (startng XI) for next season (which can happen actually but hardly will):

--------------------------------------dida----------------------------------------

-----oddo--------------nesta------------------alex------------------gallas--------

----------------------------------pirlo-------------------------------------------
------------diarra---------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------seedorf--------------------
---------------------------------kaka------------------------------------------

-------------shevchenko--------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------adriano----------------------------

assuming maldini wont be here (its only a dream team)... maldini starts in all my teams

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jivara's
milan squad 2006/07:

Goalkeepers: Dida, Kalac, Fiore

Defenders: Maldini, Nesta, Oddo, Cafu (if he wants to stay), Gallas, Alex, Jankulovski, Kaladze.

Midfielders: Pirlo, Kaka, Diarra (of not him id keep Ambrosini), Gattuso, Seedorf, Vogel, Serginho, Rui Costa (if he leaves, some one like Sneijder), Mancini.

Forwards: Shevchenko, Gilardino, Inzaghi (though i prefer Adriano :D), Amoruso (if he leaves, Tavano/Kuijt/Suazo)

Just let me underline one thing: I do appreciate a lot our corrent players, but if we want to be competetive on the same level we used to, than there are painful changes to be made.
I estimate that the squad I offered may cost us 50-80 millions, if we will be willing to spend such ammount of money than it's possible. I think there will be a big change in our transfer-market policy, I know we have the means for it. The day when we were great team that dominated europe are all over, then we needed a little make-ups once a while and know we need a huge reconstruction.

Lets look at it:
Heitinga can cost us like 5mil.
Chivu- I know Real offered for him 15 mil, so we have to do at least the same.
Shwainstiger- 10 mil I think will be enough. And as for his position, well I saw him playing also as a defender... I think he played us as a defender. And that is what I talking about, a player that can play every where.
Gerrard- it's possible, things in football change sometimes. If we spent 24 mil on Gila, we can spend 30-35 on Gerrard. It's all depend on him, if he'll want to come than it can be done.
Diarra/ Mancini- it's hard to me to evaluate this two players... do u think 20 mil will be enough for each one?

So it's all together is like 80 millions, but don't forget we can offer our corrent players in exchange. We can lower this sum by offering our players, let's just say to 50 millions total (80-30=50).
I just can't see which other options we have, that changes have to be made... Just let me tell u though it will be strange to see our veteran players playing in different colours, Gattuso in Liverpool or Seedorf in Roma... it will take some time to get used to it, and to see so many new faces playing in milan jersey.

P.S. just saw some new guy in the midfield Bloudek in our squad for Messina game, at acmilan.com... know who he is?

Both teams above qualify for "dream" teams and I honestly don't see how this thread is any different from the one we already have - actually it's more like 10 such threads that have already been started and merged and started and merged again.
It's nice to "dream" of heart-stopping line ups but let's get real - for next year, Milan will get at most 2 defenders (make that one if Cafu decides to stay), a midfielder (don't expect him to make the 1st page headlines), and maybe, just maybe a striker if in end Amoroso is deemed not reliable enough. Even a fully attainable player like Mancini looks like a dream-one to me let alone names like Diarra, Gerrard, Adriano, Schweinsteiger, etc.

Well if Zlatanov is right we should forget about Scudetto and CL... but hey watch out TIM cup, here we come!!!!!

This is for dream team or a reality ?? most there will be 3 in and 3 player out that all.

your out of your mind... im so glad that u dont work for the team

u think 80 million, or 50 million is just anything?? ...

id love to have adriano here for example, same with diarra... but the two alone would cost around 60 million...

realistically... i think we will go for someone like oddo, gallas, and probably sneijder if rui decides to leave

the players i mentioned are who id like to see here, and if u dont include adriano and mancini in there i dont see why we cant do so

- oddo: 4M
- alex: 6M
- gallas: 0M
- diarra: maybe 16M
- sneijder: 5M
- tavano: 8M or less if traded

- total: 39M

exit:

- simic: 2M
- ambro: loan or sold for 7M maybe?
- cafu: 0M
- rui costa: 0M
- amoruso: 0M or traded

total: 9M

39 - 9 = 30M which isnt bad at all i think, calculating it your way

hey, you never know, plus, if rui and vogel/janku leave, we might end up getting 2 midfielders  ... mancini and Bresciano don't sound that bad.

Alex's realistic price is more like twice that (even in this case I would consider him something close to a bargain, though). I read somewhere that Chelski value him at 10-12 but I am not sure if even that won't be an underestimate.
For Gallas, I guess we would have to pay some money, not his full market value but still not exactly for free - ~5 mil is what I have read being mentioned.
Diarra's asking price is 23 mil POUNDS or around 30-35 mil euros. that's why Galliani came out and said that he was too expensive. Your projected 16 mil for him would be like a dream come true. I personally believe that should it be possible to get him for 20 mil, that would be a great deal for us ... players like him you don't find any other day, and he's like 24-25 with a great deal of experience. Problem is Lyon are NOT forced to sell him, so they can protract the deal and milk the buyer as much as they wish. My guess is he will end up either at Real M, Man U or Chelski, when they decide to replace Makelele. Unless, Pirlo or/and gattuso leave, I just don't see us going for such an expensive player.
Ajax is asking for 12 mil for Sneijder and I doubt they would agree for anything less than ~10mil
As you see that's an extra 20 mil on those 39-40mil you suggested ... and that's without any jaw-dropping transfers like that of Gerrard or Adriano or Henry. Business aint that simple as it seems from the fan's point of view. The club's gotta be run and run smart as we don't have any extra money to splash around and spending a lot has never been a sure recipe for success too.

I totally agree. Diara will be more expensive that Essain (23million). Plus all the player above were not transfer listed or want to leave i think(except gallas). So unless we offer a high price only we can get them.

By the way Milan is not a high spender. We will only buy player if there is a need of example our key player is gone. That why we get Gila for Crespo replacement at high price only unlike chelsea or Madrid.

Mostly only 1 player above will end up in Milan which is possible to be Gallas only by the mean time..But we still need something in reply as Mourinho want him to stay.

Kaladze has been in great form lately and forms a great centre back duo with Nesta. I hope Kaladze and Nesta will be our most used central defenders next season!

21-04-2006, 15:48
Well I just can't understand why 50 mil is such unrealsitic sum, this is the way u run a top club, u need to spend money once a while... I just can't see another way.
Who is Tavano?? and Snijder, lots of talkings about him, but how good is he? I heard in the news that Juve offered 30 mil for Gerrard, why can't we?
I just can't understand people here, we going to lose top class players next year (especialy in defence) and u want to fill that hole with average players like Gallas and Alex? Yeah great back line: the old Cafu-Alex-Gallas- and not to forget the great legend Kaladze!!
Sure I live in the fantasy world, dreaming that we are going to spend 50 mil... Reality is so much better, like Lyon and Barca or even PSV humiliates us in front of full packed San Siro. This year we hardly came through the group stage, next year we maybe won't. If I'm gonna see Seedorf-Gattuso partnership again next year I'm going to throw up. How the hell u want to compete with teams like Barca and Juve with players like Oddo or Alex only god knows...
But hey u right, all we need is a new defender... and maybe, just maybe some average midfielder and we will crash Barca and Juve without any effort!!!
50 millions... lol.... u know how I can exaggerate sometimes, lol Milan to spend 50 millions lol... that's a good laugh... I can be so funny sometimes. So where is that Oddo (0000), he and Kaladze together will make history, I just afraid that it can make an ego clash in our squad... u know such two great legends playing together, may step on each other toes, kind'a "galacticos" symptom...
Well let me propose a toast for next year GRANDE MILAN!!!

To be honest he has a point.

Oddo is a very avrage player, Alex can't get into the Brazilian Squad and Gallas is being forced to play out of posistion for Carvallo, who isn't all that good!

Milan should be aiming to sign top class players, and replacing ageing players like Cafu, Billy (who i love, but for gods sake he is 40!) and dare i say it (he only has one season left!) San Paolo.

We should be looking at players like Kompany, Bonera, Zambrotta, Ashley Cole, Xavi, Albelda, Carrick, Zacardo, Frey, Given.

We need young/mid twentys Defenders and Midfielders.
Our strikers are perfect, just get rid of that useless brazilian Amorosso and bring back Pozzi, no need for Tavanno (8 million for a bench players is stupid!) when we have a younger, probably better player in Nicola!

Dida isn't good enough to play for Milan, not any more, he is like to old Dida, the Dida who played against Leeds, he is living off his 2 good seasons, and you know what, he has never been as good since the Juve Cl final in Manchester. Frey or Given would be ideal replacements, world calss CONSISTANT keepers! thats what a top team needs.

Look at Manchester UTD, Arsenal, Inter, Real.
thier main problems for the last 5 years have been inconsistant goal keepers.
and look at the only team to have solved it, Man UTD, and all they did was sign Van Der Sarr, who isn't the best in the world, but he is confident in his alilbity, talks to his defence and is CONSISTANT! the most important asset a keeper can have.

it's horrible to say but we need to replace about 6 players between first team and squad players.
We need consistantly world class players.

1. if you saw lazio - juve, ud know that besides peruzzi oddo would be man of the match, hes been playing amazing football for 3 years now, and hes usually on the scudetto team of the week... rightfully so... he can defend, and he can cross really well, and he goes forward aggressivly, and hes a milanista as well. Alex, i cant answer why he isnt called for the brazilian NT but thats not how u measure his value, are u telling me roque JR should be bought here just because he starts??? gallas, has been chelsea's best player this season hands down, if u watch them play ud see that despite being played in several positions he always plays great, and few attackers get by him, and the reason that thug carvalho is being played there is because del horno is underperforming while bridge was sent to fulham... note: they dont have to cost billions to be non-average players

2. "We should be looking at players like Kompany, Bonera, Zambrotta, Ashley Cole, Xavi, Albelda, Carrick, Zacardo, Frey, Given." ... from the list id only think about taking frey (for the future not this season), zambrotta (but juve aint selling him especially to us and we really have no big problems at LB, plus hed cost a fortune), xavi (same with zambrotta) .... albelda maybe but i doubt hed settle in.... u gotta be joking about zaccardo and bonera, theyre they are good, but they mess up too much, and relating it to ur alex argument, its oddo whos actually called up ahead of them in the italian NT, so theyre average players while oddo is a master next to them.

3. We need young/mid twentys Defenders and Midfielders.

ok, i agree with this, not a bad solution, but maybe we can trade pozzi on loan + money for tavano?

4. Dida isn't good enough to play for Milan, not any more, he is like to old Dida, the Dida who played against Leeds, he is living off his 2 good seasons, and you know what, he has never been as good since the Juve Cl final in Manchester. are u kidding me??? ... i agree, dida isnt having the best of seasons at all... but how does that make him finished??? ... havent u learned??? ... havent u seen cafu before milan??? u thought he was finished im sure... what about maldini before nesta joined??? costacurta proved he isnt finished for long time, inzaghi??? everyone thought his career is done, hes scoring better than ever has, seedorf last season?? look at him this season, one of our most important players!! dida is far from finished, just having a bad year... the funny thing is that u say after old trafford he was never the same... makes me doubt how much milan u have watched after it.. last season, i couldnt ask for a better keeper than him, the season before it, if it wasnt for him i doubt we would have won the title...

as for the teams uve mentioned that have bought in keepers, i would have thought u would mention arsenal since without lehman this year theres no chance they would reach this far in the CL, but guess what?... out of all the keepers out there, no one went through more mistakes than lehmann did... look at him now, as old as dida and doing wonderfully.

I will say two words about Steven Gerrard- hopelessly overrated.

alex22
22-04-2006, 12:45
...and Gattuso is not?

Hasan Rossonero
22-04-2006, 12:48
Maybe Gattuso's distribution needs work but he is neither overrated nor underrated.

He is very useful for us as he proved today.

Gerrard has been absent this season for Liverpool...my opinion of course.

I will say two words about Steven Gerrard- hopelessly overrated.Very very true, at least someome agrees with me on that

On Gallas being an average player, mk18 is right Gallas has been one of Chelsea's player of the season up there with John Terry and Claude Makelele i'd love him at Milan

Jim_UK
22-04-2006, 15:16
I know everyone has their opinion, but your view Hassan (and to an extent Milan Mad's ) made me laugh so very very much.

Gerrard ... over-rated ?? hahahaha :ilol:

If you seriously think he's been missing for Liverpool this season then you are clearly mistaken and are talking complete and utter nonsense. I wonder how many games you have seen to think that and i wonder if you watch them objectively or are just there to criticise.

If one of our midfielders scored nearly 20 goals in a season and plays 50 odd games ... and in the majority of those games has been full of running, tackling, high energy and good vision ... i'd be extremely ecstatic. We should be so lucky.

Milan_Mad
22-04-2006, 15:31
I watch Gerrard week in week out for liverpool and also for england(who he is even worse for) and as for your 20 goals a season he has got 8 in the Premiership: you are including champions league qualifiers against teams like TNS, he didn't even score in the real champions league games.

In my eyes he plays upfront for liverpool, like Kaka for Milan very high forward

Jim_UK
22-04-2006, 15:38
But i never said he had 20 goals in the premiership, i just said he has nearly 20 goals :D

Plus the roles he plays for club and country are totally different. For club he is usually played as central midfielder looking to go forward, although more recently he's played on the right ... whereas for club he's asked to do all the donkey work and be the defensive midfielder, a position that's not his best. Which is all to do with accomodating Frank Lampard who also hasn't played that well for England either.

Milan_Mad
22-04-2006, 15:44
True i know he has to play different roles for club and country alot more defensive for country which does not suit him thats england's weak point for this summers world cup i think, On the 20 goals kaka has already got 17 goals this season so it's not impossible for him to get 20 goals this season.

Jim_UK
22-04-2006, 15:48
That is true about Kaka, but he does play in a more advanced role than Gerrard. Having said that, Gerrard has played some games playing off a striker, however the best comparison is to say that it would be like one of Seddorf, Pirlo or Gattuso getting nearly 20 goals.

savage_mau
22-04-2006, 15:50
In EPL IMO the best midfield is Lampard now. 20 goal in all competation n the highest scorer midfield in EPL history..... Unluckly chelsea lose to Liverpool tonight n he din not score..

Gerard is still lot more behind Lampard his season.Gerard has been the best last season but not this season...

Jim_UK
22-04-2006, 16:06
You're right Savage Mau that Lampard is the highest scoring premiership midfielder, but in all competitions i don't think Gerrard is too far behind him. I think some of Gerrard's performances have equalled Lampards easily enough. But lets look at it from another view, what if Lampard were at Liverpool and Gerrard at Chelsea, would Lampard still be as good ? I'm not so sure he would be. They're very even every season.

As a side note i don't see why Chelsea were unlucky, they were poor for 60 odd minutes due to an arrogant team selection, poor play and a good performance from Liverpool. After they brought all their wingers on they got back into the match and the inevitable siege occured. Liverpool deserved to go through, Chelsea didn't.

If one of our midfielders scored nearly 20 goals in a season and plays 50 odd games ... and in the majority of those games has been full of running, tackling, high energy and good vision ... i'd be extremely ecstatic. We should be so lucky.

I watch world football with regularity.

I have seen Gerrard play many times this season but I feel he has not been able to influence the midfield as well as he did last year.

I think Gerrard is a good player but I don't think he is a great player.

Also bro...my name is Hasan.

Sorry about the spelling.

But your view of him being totally overrated, has now dropped to him being just not as influential. But then you'll know, as you state you have seen him play alot this season, that he has played alot of games on the right of midfield with Alonso and Sissoko in the centre. I believe it's alot harder to influence a game from wide out than it is in the middle, wouldn't you agree ?

But anyway, maybe you are right, maybe he is over-rated and maybe i am wrong. Who knows. It's all about opinions and different viewpoints.

I still remember Gerrard's form for England in 2001...

He was brilliant then...I always feel Benitez is a little hesitant to use Gerrard in his correct position. The reason I said he was overrated was that all and sundry believe (Juve, Chelsea that if he was in their team he would bring so much to the midfield.

He would undoubtedly add value but how much is up for debate.

I was just joking about the spelling...you don't need to apologize.

Figo, C. Ronaldo, Marc Overmars, beckham...more than influential.

Every player will have an off season every now and then. Besides, it might not be an off-season, but compared to another one from the past, that player might be playing on a lower level for on reason or another.
What I am trying to say is that if you compare Gerrard of this year and the Gerrard of last year then yes, he has had a little lower-then usual season. That doesn't mean however that he is overrated. So you are telling me that Pirlo is overrated just because he has had an unusual off-season? Same goes for Gerrard. He is a world class player. It is as simple as that. If Milan announced that he will be signed I will be ecstatic because he is one of the best out there.

Anyway, for the team of next year? I am hoping for one of Gallas and Barzagli, Oddo and Diarra. It is true that Diarra will cost but he will be of great great use. This year he has been arguably the best central/holding midfielder in Europe. Just imagine what our line up would look like week in week out with Pirlo, Seedorf, Gattuso and Diarra. So balanced and so strong both in the defence and in attack. I have watched Diarra play a lot of times this year and besides his strength and ability to mark and tackle, he is also a great passer of the ball. He can also play in any of our midfield positions(that is Pirlo's, Seedorf's and Gattuso's). Add to the mix Ambro or Vogel(i would expect one of the two to leave if Diarra comes), and you have the most balanced and scariest midfield line in the world. Now, I know that he will not come for less then 25mil Euros, but it is definetly worth it. He is only in his mid twenties, and if we are to spend some money this summer, then this guy is a real bargain. Just for fun, if I had to choose between Gerrard and Diarra....Diarra would be my choice.

I know that there have been buch of threads like this one, but I'll still put wish for next year. :D

Dida; Abbiati; Kalac

Jankulovski; Sergino; Maldini; Kaladze; Nesta; Barzagli/Gallas; Oddo; Cafu

Pirlo; Diarra; Gattuso; Seedorf; Vogel; Kaka; Rui Costa

Sheva; Gilardino; Inzaghi; Amoroso(or maybe recall a young player like Pozzi?)

I think that it is very possible to see this squad next year. Oddo wouldn't cost more then 4/4.5, while Gallas should be around the same price around 5/6mil. Diarra will cost about 25(I think), but we can definetly take that down or even offer someone in exchange. Maybe Vogel?

Does anyone know how much exactly we spent last summer? (in euros)

The 2 defensive buys shouldnt cost all that much, around £12m for the pair. As for Diarra, if we can get him for £20m i think Berlu would be happy to sanction it. Spending £30m on 3 top players to keep the club in contention for the major honours isnt unreasonable, especially with the defence as it is.

Barzagli or Grosso would be fine too, i suggested Rodriguez because Milan have been watching him for a year and after Villareals CL run he will almost certainly move this summer. He's not Italian but in Serie A Argentines (and Brazilians) tend to be the next best thing :D

I think the main focus will be on Gallas, he is experienced and versatile and would give us so many options with regard to the other defensive addition. With him, Nesta and Kakha at the back there is enough experience there for the 4th defender to be a relative youngster, especially with Maldini still around to step in when that extra stability is needed...

same here, although I am leaning towards Rebeilliere for the RB position. Anyway, it's official now - Cafu has extended his contract with us till 2007 and will NOT be leaving this summer. So, we might end up not getting any new RB unless Simic leaves. With Stam gone and Billy and Maldini not exactly being in their best physical condition, not getting Oddo/Rveilliere + Gallas would be a mistake given our issues on the right this season but I guess we'll see what happens over the summer.

I suppose depending on the opposition they are interchangable. I like the idea of having Diarra as an extra wall in front of the defence as it would give the 3 more creative midfielders plentry of security to go forward, but there would no doubt still be a need in many games for Pirlo to collect the ball fom deeper..

mk18
25-04-2006, 08:59
i think pirlos best position is infront of the defence, on form hes a gem there... but gattuso has been having an inconsistent 2 years and i think if diarra is here, pirlo should be on form more often.

i agree with zlat, even if cafu extended, not going for another RB is a big mistake IMO, we cant afford to risk it again, what if cafu doesnt make it next season?

Reveillere for Milan, that's what i think.

I think Gattuso gets some unfair criticism at times, i'm not saying he doesn't deserve it because some of his performances have been poor ..... however, sometimes he has to do the defensive duty of Pirlo and Seedorf. In the Lyon game for example he spent more time on the left than the right, mopping up after our other mids ...

for me personally, i would change things up a bit next season, i would go for either 4-2-2-2- (like Brazil play) or 4-2-3-1. I just think we need some width in our game now, we need to refresh our style a bit. I would like to see:

--------------------------Gilardino/Inzaghi----------------

------Jankulovski/?????------Shevchenko------Kaka/Mancini

-------------------Diarra/Pirlo------Gattuso/????----------

i disagree, sheva should be played in attack and not in that position, his dribbling isnt amazing, its normal and that position needs a dribbler, and seedorf should be in the lineup, hes been great this season.

i dont think diarra and gattuso should be played in the same lineup, true diarra can start plays but nothing near as good as pirlo and in our prime people were bashing gattuso's inability to attack, either gattuso is taken out and diarra and pirlo play side by side, or maybe janku takes seedorfs position who takes gattuso's and played next to diarra.

Pirlo is a kind of player that needs to be guarded by 2 players in front of him, than he can work his passes around. Right now Rino is doing his job just fine, but Seedorf is playing bad defensively, he is the one who needs to be replaced by a player like Lampard/Gerrard/joaquim class. I agree. Joaquin is notorious about how bad defensively he is - he is just too lazy to fall back and defend as a right winger let alone put him in Rinho's position. Not only will not putting him in place of Seedorf solve our "supposed" defensive frailties, on the contrary, our right mid will look like Swiss chease.
Seedorf might not have the pace of Juaqi but defensively there is hardly any basis for comparison, IMO.

Maybe you're right mk in that Shevchenko should be played up front, but then that means all these people on here who says Shevchenko likes to come deep are wrong.

That aside, i don't see why you can't play diarra and gattuso together. The point of them being the two in front of the back 4 is to offer more defence and protection, it's not about starting moves. With 3 creative players in front of them plus 2 highly attacking full-backs, you need more strength in the middle, something that neither Pirlo or Seedorf offers. They can't run, they can't tackle and half the time they don't track back. With weaker teams, yes of course we could play just one of Diarra/Gattuso with Pirlo, that's fine. But for me i want more high energy players in the 'engine room' and i'm sorry but in those terms Seedorf and Pirlo just don't cut it.

the way i think about it is, look at ourselves 2 years ago, still very ambitous, gattuso running like crazy, pirlo playing amazing, everything was going great, this season, gattuso is in a way back to his old self, but pirlo is playing piss poor, the only flaw was that gattuso cant attack, pirlo cant defend, how do i solve this?? bring in diarra, put him in gattuso's place, he has the determinaiton and the ferocity rino has, and hes much better in attack, and with a pirlo on form, it probably the better solution IMO, just have to get pirlo back in form

gys, assumptions, and again assumptions. There is so much time until the real transfer season reopens. wait till it comes and then start with such comments. Plus, do you really expect that club officlals will say something like "half the team is leaving and we'll revolutioniza the team for next year" when the curent season has yet to finish? How could you expect the players will feel, what desire to win will they have if they know that next year they may be kicked out? Speaking of transfers during the season can only damage the morale of the team as it shows lack of faith in their abilities.
And then again, do you really believe that Carlo has to only point to a player he likes and that player automatically is delivered to him. The guy works and does his best with the material that's given to him and that's it - he may want a revolution but after all he is just another Milan employee, who has to follow guidelines.

Ancelotti tells Zidane: Join us at AC Milan!
tribalfootball.com - April 26, 2006

AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti says Real Madrid midfielder Zinedine Zidane is too young to be announcing his retirement.

Ancelotti has the likes of Paolo Maldini (37), Billy Costacurta (40) and Serginho (33) under his charge and said: "Age is just a number ... at Milan we have boys who are much older than him.

"If has a rethink about his plans, he should call us, we are here!"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

from tribalfootball though it has quotes and i think it did happen...

what do u think??... to be honest if rui is leaving, i dont mind zidane, hes dropped in form but hes a freaking legend and i tihnk he has more to add its just that hes playing i n a circus...

then again he could be another rivaldo

zlatanov

it would be awesome if this is true and he ends up with us. I think a 40 yo and one-legged Zidane is better than most of the current overhyped #10s around. At Milan he won't have to play every 3-4 days so hw would be able to have more time to rest and be at his best. And I agree with Carlo that Zizou could play another 1-2 years in a top club like Milan.
As for being another Rivaldo, I doubt it as Zizou was sucha great success with Juve and owned Serie defences. true his was younger than but then again Rivaldo had never played vs such defensive formations in Spain and when he came to Milan he had to readjust ath teh age of 32-33, I think.

if he comes to Milan, his salary won't be anywhere hear what he's being paid now. High salary comes from high demand, should he come to Milan, it would be like an exception he would make only for the sake of seeing what it feels like to be a Milan player and not because he needs money and is trying to get rich off of us. He has already decided to end his career, this is very dif from the Rivaldo case whose salary was indeed rather steep for the service we got in return.

whether zidane comes or not we have to get pacy players in the midifeld and the defence. if we continue with the our aging players we are gonna suk esp. with the case of billy and capitano. although i wud like to differ by saying that cafu still looks young and agile! I don't know why but i feel like getting some players from the east, somewhere like russia ( arshavin) or one of the Berezutskiy brothers. also how abt any asian???

well, because he has never played for Milan and almost all players who have ever been in our club have said that this is the perfect place to be at. Plus, it's not like he would be playing wed-sun fixtures. right now in Real he is the one player the formation starts from and this indeed could be a problem for a 33-34 yo player. But at Milan, if he comes at all, his appearances will not be as frequent as they are now with Real M.
The way I see us profitting from such move is to let Rui go to Benfica and get Zidane in his place. If given proper rest and played in games a whole week apart, I think there is still lots of first-class football in Zizou. Right now he looks sort of spent in his games for Real but I don't think the reason for this is because he's spent as a player but simply because Real treat him as if he is 20yo and play him with 3-4 days of rest when he isn't injured. Actually, even a 20 yo might have problems with keeping up with his current schedule.

For next year I believe we should get some fresh legs to enable squad rotation and maximise our chances of fighting on all fronts. I would love to see 4 new players coming in: A young central defender, 2 midfielders and a quality striker.

-------------------Dida-------------------

Cafu-----Nesta-----CRIS/BARZAGLI----Jankulovski(Kaladze)

(Subs from: Maldini, Billy, Kaladze, Marzoratti, Serginho)

SNEIJDER-------RIQUELME (Pirlo)------Gatusso (MASCHERANO)

-------------------Kaka-------------------

(Subs from: Pirlo, Seedorf, Vogel, Bloudek, Ambro)

------------Sheva-------Gilardino----------

(Subs from: Pippo, Lucarelli)

Defence: We need reinforcements with at least one young central defender (Barzagli, Cris or even Luisao whom I rate very highly). Also, we must utilise Jankulovski more frequently. The guy has all the qualities to become a great full back, he just needs games to improve his confidence. And we will have more than adequate replacements in Maldini, Billy, Kaladze, Serginho and Marzoratti.

>>> INCOMING: CRIS/BARZAGLI >>> OUTGOING: SIMIC, STAM

In midfield, I think we would could do wonders if we snatched Riquleme from Villareal. The guy is a great player and between him and pirlo playing alongside Kaka, we would have the most potent and inventive attacking midfield in Italy and probably the world, not to mention that we would be able to rotate the midfield on a regular basis without endangering the quality of our play. Also, if we manage to get Sneijder as well, this would greatly increase our options on the wings and give our midfield an extra dimension as well as much needed speed and urgency (Seedorf could act as the experienced replacement should we need him).As for a DM, we would could stick with Gatusso, or we could offload him to Manure (only if he wants it) and we could use the money to buy someone like Mascherano who has a lot of potential and won't cost us as much as Diarra).

>>> INCOMING: SNEIJDER, RIQUELME, (MASCHERANO????)
>>> OUTGOING: RUI COSTA, VOGEL, (GATUSSO IF SOLD TO MANURE)

I would love it if we off loaded Amoruso at the end of season and replaced him with an experienced quality striker like Lucarelli who probably has at least another two good seasons in him, plus he wouldnt cost us an arm and a leg. I think Pippo is a great option that we have, but the problem with him now is that he is too injury prone and if we miss him for more than a couple of months we tend to suffer if Sheva is off form. Not to mention that Gila is still taking his time to settle in Milan. In 2 yrs time, Gila would have fully developed and matured, and also we could sell Lucarelli and Inzaghi and replace them with a quality young striker and Sheva could act as our Golden Sub.

>>> INCOMING: LUCARELLI >>> OUTGOING: AMORUSO

I think this way we could cosiderably enhance both our defensive and attaking options. Reduce the average age of the squad and ensure the teams success in the forseeable future. Finally, whoever we get, I just hope that Carlito starts rotating the squad more often so that are top players arent running out of steam by the end of the season (e.g. Pirlo, Kaka, Sheva, Nesta).

LordofThePitch your team is cool but you wouldnt be able to play Riquleme, sneijder and kaka all the in same time. Lucarelli wouldnt play 4th striker either

LordofThePitch
27-04-2006, 15:33
Hey Graeme, come to think of it you're probably right about Lucarelli as he probably won't settle for 4th choice :(

However, I think that a midfield with Kaka, Riquelme, Sneijder and Gatusso could easily work. Slot in Riquelme for Pirlo, and Sneijder for Seedorf and that's it. Although Sneijder is small in stature he has rapidly established himself in the role of midfield general. He is deceptively strong on the ball and his passing range is enhanced by his two-footedness so he could easily fulfill the seedorf role of creating chances and holding up the ball.

Also, another good thing is that the above four can be utilised in a diamond formation

----------Riquelme-----------

Sneijder--------------Gatusso

-----------Kaka-------------

OR, a classic 4-4-2 formation

Kaka----Riquelme----Gatusso----Sneijder**

**I know he plays as a RM for Ajax but as I mentioned before he is a 2 footed player so I'm sure he won't find it impossible to adapt.

Of course if Gatusso leaves for Man U we could always get Mascherano instead who has both tenacity and technical ability. And the midfield could look like this

------------Pirlo-------------

Sneijder----------Mascherano

-----------Kaka-------------

Well, I agree that for a) Financial reasons b) Maintaining team balance, we shouldn't get more than 2 midfielders. Either Sneijder and Riquelme or Sneijder and Mascherano. Riquleme would be very difficult as he would probably cost us a bit (but I'm certain he would be worth every cent). As for Mascherano, he may not be as tenacious as Diarra, but I believe he's a more well rounded player with technical abilities as well. Plus, Lyon would not let go off Diarra unless we pay them a fortune. Thus I believe Masherano would be a better option.

As for Seedorf, I have to disagree with you as he's been one of our main underperformers over the last couple of years. He has some very good games, but they are far and between. Not to mention that he's not getting any younger. Sneijder is a very talented and multi-dimensional player, and he will inject some pace into our attacks. I'm sure with a big club like milan he will become one of the best very soon.

Well, we'll need a team thats consistant, with Pirlo, and Sheva having an 'off' season, even tho they are class players...my team for the forth coming season would be...

GK: Dida, Abbati (Had a good season with Juve)

Def: Cafu, Nesta, Billy, Kaladze, Serginho, Maldini, Oddo (Had long interest for him) (Stam leaving) (Simic might leave as he hasn't played much)

Mid: Pirlo, Gattuso, Seedorf, Kaka :pr115: , (Ambrosini will leave), Jankulovski (Will get more game time i think) (Rui Costa will leave to Benfica)

Str: Sheva, Gila, Insaghi (Amoroso will go back)

All in all, pretty much the same sort of team as this year with a few exeptions!

Next season, we'll have to go for the treble to make up for the past 2 years!

Forza Milan!

i think if we have to spend big, id only look at diarra... thats the player that i think if we got him would add alot to our team, hes simply superb... he is the worlds best DM, nothing gets by him and he is good at joining the attack and starting plays, which is very rare these days (more old school like rijkaard desailly and makelele).... riquelme id love to have here, but i wouldnt be so sure he would be worth his value which should be around 18M, he likes it when the game is going slowly, hes very lethal in that situation, but when the team likes to play fast football like we do (in a way) then i doubt hes as good (its one of the reasons he messed up at barca, theyre game is too fast)

mascherano is not going to be any cheaper, corinthians are in a way owned by abrahmovic and he wouldnt sell him just like that... he would cost around 15M with everyone else also wanting him

I really dont see any point in all these new threads of what u expect or what u want Milan to have next year.

All I want is our usual starting lineup for next year, and Carlo ofcourse. Obviously we will not be getting any 10+ million players. As Carlo said, some will leave and a few adjustments have already been made. Im guessing we will bring in a player in for Vogel who will most likely leave. Stam is leaving, but I dont think we will be getting Oddo. Simic will also leave. Amoroso is not needed, we can use Boriello or Ardemagni (or invest in a young Brazilian like Rafael Sobis or Kerlon) instead of him.

I also hope Jankulovski shows his real self next year and gives Seedorf some competition for the left midfield spot (ofcourse getting Robben wouldnt hurt :D). We should stop dreaming of Diarra simply because he is too expensive and doesnt want to leave, and especially doesnt want to sit on the bench at Milan. Pirlo has been horribly inconsistent through out the year, but Carlo kept using him on and on and never used Vogel.

Dida must remain and we do not need any replacements for him. I also firmly believe we will need a world-class CB in Lugano or Alex. The latter being the more important for his European experience and for an extra weapon in free-kicks that we really lack. Another thing I'd like to see for next season is Carlo being more risky and playing with different formations, and not being afraid to drop players that are not in form like Gila, Sheva, and Pirlo.

I would be disappointed to see Rui leave, but if he did, I would hope in getting a world-class youngster in Sergio Aguero and not Wesley Sneijder. He just doesnt impress me. Getting Michael Ballack would be a great move, I still think that this move is on the cards as Ballack is trying everything he can to delay the transfer to Chelsea. I think the Premiership does not fascinate him.

Haha..we all know that Galliani has a $250,000,000 annual budget to buy players recommended on this site by his usual advicers (+ comission based on performances..lol) :v103:

But jokes aside, we have to realise that we've been playing with the same players (pretty much the same starting 11) for the past 3 seasons. Our team is getting slower, older and more predictable each year. And usually by the second half of the season most of our players look like they are running on an empty tank. I realise that this is partly Carletto's fault for not utilising the players at his disposal, but to be fair to him with the exception of Billy, Inzaghi, Jankulovski and Ambro (some ageing, some injury prone) we've hardly got any adequate replacements for our top players.

I'm not advocating revolution, but rather evolution of the team. The core of the team must remain intact because we have a balanced and winning formula. However, without being critical of any Milan players in particular some players in the first team either lack the consistency or the physical fitness that we need when we are fighting on all fronts throughout the season. Not only that, but against the younger and more physical sides in Europe (e.g. Barca, Lyon, Ajax, PSV) we have suffered immensely. Thus, I believe that if we get 2 new quality young players (a defender and a winger), not only would they provide some much needed reinforcements towards the end of the season, but they could inject some speed and add an extra dimension to our attack. We don't need a wholesale to achieve that, just a couple of shrewd acquisitions and we could revamp the side.

I just think it's better two start the rebuilding process now than say having to buy 5 or 6 players in 2007 (when Maldini, Billy, Cafu and probably Seedorf and Inzaghi will leave). Plus, I'm sure that any young player coming in will improve in light years and develop the necessary pride which is a prerequisite for any Milanista by playing alongside these Milan legends, and learning from their experiences whilst they are still here, dont you??

Some of you may agree with me, some may not. But that's the beauty of having this forum; so that all of us fans can come here and share our ideas. And who knows, Galliani might come in here one day and look at some of our ideas and think: "That's a jolly good idea old chap, why the devil didn't I think of it myself!" hahaha :5roma: :tong: :hammer:

ill have to agree with both lordofthepicth and hitmanq8, i bet were not gonna see so many changes, and eventhough i want diarra more than anything, chances of him coming here are still slim, im just expressing how much i appreciate him, but then again i think it is time to see more changes in the team, i never thought this way 1 or 2 summers back because we really didnt need anything, but you feel despite what we are still acheiving, the team doesnt look as liquidy and as agile as before, and it is also losing its feroicity on the pitch with time, thts why i want players like gallas, hes very very agile for his size, hes known to be a nutcase which really scares opponents off, and hes aggresive, and diarra, hes a BEAST!!! it takes alot to get by him (he shut down kaka completely throughout the 2 legs) and he can start plays and join the attack, as for oddo, im not going to bet on having a fresh cafu anymore, and even if gallas can play there, so did stam and it wasnt the same, oddo has a great crossing ability and is very good going forward and can defend!

now i dont know how much they would cost in total... maybe 30M, and im not saying they would fit in instantly, but if i had to place my bet on the most successful transfers we can make i would go for those 3

I mean honestly hom many times did u see him play? And as for closing down Kaka, well it's ain't too hard this days. Edmilson did the same and Kaka almost disappeared from the pitch in both legs...
I think the main reason for Kaka poor performance is not the opponents guard, but our own failure... we were unable to create enough pressure and movement, to allow Kaka some free space to move.
I don't think spending 20 millions on Diarra is a smart move...

Its easy to close down kaka' becouse pirlo and seedorf are too slow and dont move well in attack, and gattuso in not dangerous with the ball. Kaka' has sno real suport from the CM's. Diarra is worth 20 min,and news today are saying Lyon wants 30 but Galliani is offering 25. I would trade Oirlo for Diarra every second now. We dont need more than 30mil for a great team lloking like this......
.......................dida.............
oddo......nesta.....gallas....jankulovski
......................diarra...........
.........gattuso............seedorf...
.......................kaka..........
..........sheva..........gila/pippo

But, first what we need to do is sell Carlo to Madrid. And bring a coach who is ready to change things, becouse if its up to Carlo, sedorf-pirlo.gattuso would play together for another 5 years.....

i agree on edmilson, i think if not dida or stam, edmilson would be man of the match and man of the entire tie, but are u kidding me?? kaka is very very veryyyyyy hard to mark, our problem was that pirlo was having an off game and season in general, and serginho was obviously tired, this only left kaka and seedorf as the only possible solutions to start an attack, barca man marked them both very hard (something we shouldve done with ronaldinho in the first leg) ... and we werent able to create very dangerous attacks

anyone fancy translating this for me?

Lucarelli 'Non chiudo la porta al Milan'. Galliani 'Quattro attaccanti li abbiamo'

Transfer fees are super inflated these days, no player is worth the sums of money being reported. However, Diarra is a player who we need in our midfield. I would also say that at least one other new midfielder should be bought to go into our starting 11 to refresh everything. We are stale, slow and predictable in the midfield and it's time for a change and unfortunately to get the calibre of player Milan deserves we need to pay these ridiculous prices.

devoted_dm

I can't say I'm too pleased that we're buying a 34 year old, fairly mediocre player. But I suppose he will only be a back-up.

I agree with what's being said about the transfer fees. They are ridiculous these days, but if we want to stay competitive, we will have to spend a lot of money.

And I think it's weird that we don't have more funds available for transfers, so we could avoid buying players that are nearing the end of their careers. Even without Berlusconi, Milan is making a lot of money (3rd highest income in the world), so it doesn't really make any sense to me.

What I do understand is that a few players will be leaving us this summer. Stam is definitely leaving, Rui Costa could be leaving, Vogel could also be leaving and Maldini and Billy are getting very old.

So we need at least two new defenders and probably two midfielders.

Juve watns: Suazo, Barzagli, Jouqin ( not sure how to spell it, the guy from Betis), Marcchioni is already signed. Come on Galliani open your eyes, we don;t need no 35 years old man. Plus, with the exception of Kaka (and Pirlo when on form) our midfield is becoming slow and predictable. We need to inject some frseh blood into the team.

I seriously hope the Favalli thing is just a bad joke from Galliani and co to ditract everyone's attention while they do some underhand dealings :dontkn:
because we have plenty of experienced cover in San Paolo, Billy and Serginho. We do not need an ageing mediocre player like him at Milan :lazy: who will have no real contribution other than to bump the average age of the team to above 30. There are plenty of talented young players out there who will not cost an arm an a leg and who can become future stars (e.g. Barzagli, Luisao, Mascherano, Sneijder, Huntelaar amongst many) and we must show the same initiative that brought us Kaka before anyone else had a chance to say KA..WHOOOO??. We dont need anyone, our squad is perfect the way it is, but I feel sorry for Braida who is facing a very tough job in trying to get a good replacement for Stam and possibly a RB for our starting 11. We r great the way we are and have been competiting in both Serie A and CL till the end of the season in both years. If you guys think we dont have a good squad then go support Barca or Chelsea.

Back to topic, I dont think we need Favalli. We have enough LB's. Also Kaladze is not a player than should play in the starting 11 for Milan no matter how good is performances have been of late. Seeing as Maldini will also not be available for long periods next year, we must get a young strong pacy CB (Alex). i think gallas, oddo/alves/revelliere and diarra are in a way must have's. but if i want to add someone it has to be alex, hes not even that expensive, and what if by next summer he gets international call ups and might be able to join an epl team?!

Ronaldinho plays in left flank, that's right of Milan... so if Favali plays in the left no way he can beat Ronaldinho, cause they play on different sides of the pitch.

I would be disappointed to see Rui leave, but if he did, I would hope in getting a world-class youngster in Sergio Aguero...

Well, he's gone now.. Atletico today bought the 18yr old for 27.8m (pounds/euros im not sure). Atletico owe us 18m, maybe we can be naughty and take Aguero off them! or maybe they simply got him as a replacement for Torres. I think this is going to be a great buy by Atletico. They want to tie him up for an 8-year-contract!!! All major clubs are investing in youngsters, and since Milan arent really buying much players for our 1st squad, why cant we invest in 1 or 2 big talents such as Kerlon?

Of course they do, They've paid some 300 mil for those players and still counting. But its true that Gallas could be a great deal for us as he could void his contract for 3 mil euros, according to UEFA/FIFA regulations, i think.

i think we need 2 midfield players and 2(at least) for defence ,because as some of you said we are being predictable and we need something new. i belive diarra would be as expensive as essien was.
-------------dida-------------- subs:abbiati,cafu,maldini,lugano-alex-

-------------pirlo--------------- vogel,inzaghi
------gattuso-----------------
------------------------silva
------------kaka---------
----sheva-------gila
perhaps it isnt some dream team but it would bring some energy and creativity in our play. silva is the main reason why celta are playing so good and rafinha is perhaps the best full back in german league.now before you say that they are too young take a look at messi -hes 18 and is at same level with the world best players.and we also have good coaches which could help those youngsters to use their potential.i think i dont need to explain to much about gallas. besides them i would like to see lugano or alex or barzagli for centre back sub .

Hitman, why should i go support another team if i feel the squad isn't good enough ? What a ridiculous thing to say. If our squad is so great why do we always stick with the same predictable 11 and never show faith in Vogel, Jankulovski, Rui-Costa, Amrbosini ... etc ??

I also can't believe my eyes if what i'm reading on channel4.com is true. Apparently we've pulled out of the race for Gallas and allowed Juve to get him in return for Juve not bidding on Oddo to allow us to go for the Lazio right-back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :fero: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If this is true i will have truly lost all faith in our management and our transfer policy, why on earth would we let Juve get the stronger player ? I know it's the silly season (when isn't it the silly season these days) with rumours, but this is just too trying to take lightly. Gallas (cb) and Reveillere (rb) are stronger than any other combo of cb & rb we could come up with, it doesn't take a genius to work this out.

Ivan, i'm not sure how old you are but there have been quite a few Englishmen to play in Italy going right back to the 1960's and possibly earlier.

As much as I know the management likes to hide cards, if that is true that is a stupid mistake because it's giving up a good hand for a lesser one. Gallas would be ideal for Milan, adding much needed solid strength and mobility at the back, especially defending and attacking corners, something truth being told we are very poor at times.

Milan seek Michel Salgado
Sunday 30 April, 2006
Milan’s search for a right-back could take them to knock on Real Madrid’s door for Michel Salgado.

The Rossoneri have made no secret of the fact their transfer policy this summer will be focused on reinforcing the defence.

Marcos Cafu has signed on for another season, but his injury worries and advanced age are causing concerns, while Jaap Stam has already signed for Ajax.

The prime target is Lazio’s Italian international Massimo Oddo, with their bid for Chelsea star William Gallas reportedly dropped in favour of Juventus this week.

But Spanish newspaper ‘Marca’ today suggests that Milan are making a firm bid for Real Madrid veteran Michel Salgado.

The Merengues hero would bring international experience, but turning 31 in October, he wouldn’t particularly reduce the average age of the Rossoneri back line.

Salgado has been at the Bernabeu since 1999 following spells at Celta Vigo and Salamanca.

I do not expect a lot of dream signs, like Chelsea used to do a couple of seasons ago, but two or three very expensive signings.
The team I'd like to see next season - and some of them (Perea, Gallas) are heading to wear our jersey according to reliable sources (Cadena Ser, L'Equipe):
--------------Sheva----Tevez-----------------
----------(SuperPippo)---(Gila)----------------
---------------------------------------------
--------------------Kaká---------------------
------------(Diego - Porto/Portugal)-----------
----Seedorf---------------------Sneijder------
---(Foggia-Ascoli)--------------(Gattuso)-----

Serginho------Kaladze-----Nesta--------Perea
(Favalli)-----(Maldini)-----(Gallas)------(Oddo)
-----------------(Costacurta)-----------------
----------------------------------------------
-------------------Buffon---------------------
------------------(Amelia)--------------------

Buffon, who is linked with former Milan legend Lorenzo Buffon, is a player I really want to see in the squad next seasson. Tevez is simply the better player outside Europe nowadays. A phenomenon.
Sneijder is a versatile player for the midfield and Diego is someone I really believe that will be an outstanding player someday.
Really do not know what is wrong with him in Portugal, but he'll leave FC Porto this summer.

No Joe Cole from Chelski please.

Whoever MF coming into our squad I prefer to change our midfield arrangement from diamond shope to standard levelling. The problem with our mid now is each player is given a specific (too specific) job:
* Pirlo: collecting the ball and distribution
* Seedorf: ball possession
* Gastuso: stopping opponent midfielders
* Kaka: assisting 2 strikers

This systems depends too much on a player which may have a bad day in a while or too easy for opponent teams to destroy our play if they can hold Kaka or Pirlo at bay.

Also with this formation 3 of them do not have height for aerial combat so attacker like Kaka, Sheva have to drop too much in defending situation yet still leaves us shaky in dead balls.

As for outgoing players I prefer to sell Berlusconi so that X-tree can be used from time to time.

- doesn't want to share the lime light with henry once he joins barca
- doen't like henry - source (http://www.tribalfootball.com/april/englishnews5280406.html)
- rijkaard stops him from retaliating against racists and just play his game, which eto'o doesn't like.

i know most of the sorces are from tribalfootball but even they have some spanish sources for these reports which appear to be reliable. shoot your thoughts on it

These are my infos from Italian market experts who talk on italian football show and often reliable in the past, such as Laudisa from Gazzetta, and Cattani from TeleLombardia, the most promising young market expert who analises every player contractual situation ..

Gallas is between Juve and Milan, but given the good references Desailly his former french teammate did, he knows that Milan is better for a player. He said in october: "I think after 5 years i may go. A friend told me the absolute best for a football player is Milan AC ". Gallas costs 20 millions, but a clause in his contract may set him as free agent. It depends on his contractual situation, but i think he is likely to come.

Buffon: the problem is that Juve is a society quoted on the financial market, and owned by shareholders. If they sell a player like Buffon, paid 50 millions 5 years ago, to balance the previous investiment, according to company law and financial market rules, they should set a price of 30-35 millions and maybe Abbiati as makeweight.
If you wonder why the price is lower, consider that 5 years have passed after the investiment and these things go like these (can't tell you in english and it's quite a complex subject)

Midfield: the priority above any other ivestiment is a major signing in midfield. Diarra is the n1 target. The board is very determined to sign him, even because he can play in every role of the mid, in Seedorf's place, in Gttuso's and Pirlo's ones.
The starting price made by Lyon (a wealthy club who doesn't need to sell their best players-->higher price) is 35 millions, but our board will find an agreement around 20 Mill. In some ways, Milan has been informed that Lyon is available for a deal, and everyone has seen we need a major investiment in mid, so the price won't be a problem...if you don't win, you don't gain moneys..

It is said Snejder may come, as part of the deal with Stam going to Ajax for sure. Gourkouff , a french mid, as been stopped and in the next weeks we'll know more about this scenario.

Oddo is likely to come, regardless of the fact we'll sign Gallas who can play in many roles of the defence and will surely replace Stam, while Oddo will replace Simic.
Why Oddo? Other that technical reasons, there's one reason more: Oddo igrew up as a player in Milan's youngsters team, and from the next year we need a quota of players grown up in our youth team. Plus, he's a quality player, one of the best Lazio players this season.

De Rossi- He's the alternative to Diarra. He could be signed for cash of maybe with cash + Jankulvoski, who is a favourite of Spalletti, former coach at Udinese. Many would like to keep Jankulovski next year and i think this is very likely to happen. The guy was unlucky and just now he's showing his real worth. Be sure: the next season Jankulovski will be one of our best players.

Eto'o-the point is: is Henry is likely to be signed by Barca, he may go. I mean, Ronaldinho, Messi, Henry and Eto'o?? He would have just one choice , other than the merchants of Chelsea. But this would mean more bench for Gila. This is not unreal, though, although very difficult.

These are the scenarios of the players we are interested in.

Gallas: 60%
Diarra:60%
De Rossi:20%
Buffon:25%
Eto'o: 30%
Oddo: 80%

I think we'll sign Oddo, Gallas, Diarra and a few minor players to complete the team. If a big name will come he will be among these ones: Buffon and Eto'o.

We'll sign a left flanker, probably, as well.

Ahh, nice one Gio ;) ... I love such topics, it kind of makes you dream about all the possibilities out there :5ok:
If we sign Diarra and Gallas, I say we are already signing two big names. A player like Eto'o would be like the icing on the cake. I am sure we could handle his presence in the team and find a place for him too ;).
I agree that with Henry's transfer to Barca all but officially confirmed - there are already talks of him buying a house in Barcelona - Eto'o might find himself in surplus at Barca with Dinho, Messi, and Henry the obvious starters. I still think that this Eto'o transfer to Milan could only happen if we end up selling Sheva to Chelski - and his outburst when he was subbed in the Livorno game didn't exactly put an end to those rumours either. Otherwise, I would expect to see Chelski get Eto'o, who they have been following for a good year or so now.
As for that left back role, I guess we already did sign someone - Beppe Favalli - not exactly a headline grabber kind of move by us but, who knows, he might turn to be useful to us, although someone like Pasqual or Grosso would have been better.
Well, I guess we'll see what happens over the next 3 months or so.
Cheers.

You mean depreciation Gio ? Where an item's market value decreases over a length of time.

I don't mind Oddo, i would still prefer Reveillere as i think he has more to offer. But again, as Lyon don't need to sell, getting him and Diarra would end up costing us a fortune.

On Channel4 it mentions Grosso and how ourselves, Inter and Juve are linked to the left-back. I would really like us to go for him, i know Favalli maybe free but i think Grosso (or indeed Pasqual) should be targeted.

Jankulovski and Serginho are our only true wide players and both are for the left side, so selling Marek would be a big mistake. We need a right sided wide player, Mancini is the obvious choice but again we only have so much money so a cheaper alternative is needed. I think Castelan of Feyenoord might be a good shout, maybe some of our Dutch members can give us their view on him. The times i've seen him he's been electric, both in terms of pace and skill, but i admit i haven't seen all his games, so maybe i've just been lucky.

boy I wish we get Diarra, but realistically speaking, it will not happen. There are so many teams in europe after Diarra, and he has never said he wanted to leave Lyon, and never spoke of an interest from Milan. I really doubt we will buy such a player for 35m to sit on the bench (although i think he can replace Rino).. Gallas? I hope so.. i'll give this transfer a 40% really.. Oddo? 70%.. Favalli 95%.. Sneijder 50%.. Buffon and Eto 0%

Reading your replies, here 's the situation according to market experts who work daily with close members of our society.

Eto'o is a dream, the icing on the cake, but this wouldn't mean a sacrifice of Shevchenko. Sheva won't go anywhere, i think i can give it almost as sure. Why? Because these players go just if they want to (and a small issue with Ancelotti is a ridiculous reason to go), but Shevchenko is in deep relations with Berlusconi, his son's godfather and the President helped his father when he needed to undergo surgery. I 'm sure Shevchenko won't betray us, and we're not going to sacrifice him for moneys.
A prove? We never did during the Berlusconi era. I think it's reasonably enough to say Shevchenko will stay with us until the end of the career.

Diarra is a difficult signing, but not at all impossible. Essien is the prove. Last year Chelsea wanted essien and signed him. Obviously Lyon is a rich club and wants big moneys, but i trust in the devilish art of Galliani to considerably lower the price. Let's say the signing of Diarra, if it happens, would be around 20 MIll. The remarkable news is that our board targeted him and the n1 target to re-build a midfield which lacks physical presence. Diarra is a new Rijkaard, and has either technical and physical qualities.

Snejder may stay at Ajax for one or two seasons more, don't know if he will be picked up for the next season. Maybe he will stay in Holland a few time more to mature before the big jump to Serie A.

Oddo: i think he will come the next year. When he was asked about it, he had a strange smile on his face, and here he's given as done deal.

Favalli: the lad yesterday was absolutely one of the best on the pitch during Roma-Inter. I think he's a reliable and good signing to complete the team, which can't be made of 25 world class players.

@Jim UK: Reveillere is the most hyped French player (and Lyon is the worst place to buy players, they put big prices)..i heard we are following another french player who plays in Bordeaux (or Rennes? don't remember well) who's quite young and doesn't cost a fortune like Reveillere, but is consistently one of the best right backs of Ligue 1. In such roles, we can sign a good player everywhere, in Brazil, in Argentina (in cheaper markets). We don't need desperately Reveillere. That explains why we don't sign many Italians: Grosso and Pasqual cost much more than other players of the same quality

I heard we are following a young left back as well, wasn't that Perea a target we were interested in?

In general, i think we'll save the biggest amount of moneys on players we don't need desperately. i think we'll go with free agents until the younger guns we targeted improve and get more mature for the Serie A and for a big club. This logic explains the signing of Favalli.

In the crucial roles like midfield this year, we'll spend the biggest amount of moneys- That's why i feel we'll sign a big midfielder for the next season-

Last but not least, we can't sign the best young hyped player in every role. These players cost a fortune and we can make at best 2 big signings per season. In the other roles, we'll sign good players who can play a few excellent seasons (like Cafu, Pancaro, Stam) and we'll wait for the next year to insert , for ex. 2 great full backs and another younger midfielder, for ex. Snejider

Just heard in the news that some guy named Maclaren is going to be England next coach, and a funny thought crossed my mind.... a possibility of replacing Ancheloti with Eriksson. What u people have to say about that?
I personaly don't think that he deserve all the attention he gets... I mean what did he achieve??? One championship with Lazio, but remember that they were more crazy than Chelsea today in terms of spending cash, they had Mendieta, Crespo, Lopez, Veron, Nedved, Mihailovich, Salas, Nesta and more.... I remember people calling them "toto-Lazio" or something like that, because every game Eriksson played with another squad and u couldn't never guess who will play... it was like two teams in one. So with this over-packed galactico/chelski style squad, all Eriksson managed to do is one championship??? it's not enough...
And to be honest I don't like what he did in England national team, they don't play good...
So it's interesting possibility of Eriksson coming in for Ancheloti, but I don't think he will make us play better though.

I saw the Van Nistelrooy thing a few days ago in the "gossip column" at the BBC website. One of the British tabloids claims Milan is preparing to move for RVN. The Gattuso thing is also being widely reported in England. Apparently Alex Ferguson wants him to replace Keane as the ball-winner and wants to pair him with Carrick from Tottenham -- at least if you can believe the British tabloids, which I don't.

Rummors are growing about Manchester looking for a top notch central midfielder. They have always wanted Gattuso, so with the press knowing that they need a midfielder, I think they are just associating Gattuso with them because of what happened in the past. They need something to write about. I think Manchester has no longer interest in Gattuso because Milan has put it pretty simple that they will not seel him. If it is true that they want Gattuso, I would really be against his sale. I would rather see Ambro or Vogel leave then Gattuso.

On the other hand, rummors are also growing that Diarra is going to be sold with a lot of sides lining up for the Lyon star. Goal.com today released a story of Lyon being interested in Barca's Motta, in order to fill Diarra's position.
Signing Diarra would be a dream. It would make our midfield the most balanced in the world. Perfect balance of power and technique. We will have it all. I know that someone has to leave if Diarra comes and I really don't see that being any of the current starters, so I am guessing it has to be either Ambro or Vogel.

One problem that has come to mind of late is Rui Costa however. With reports saying that he might leave or even retire, we will lack a cover for Kaka. How is the Fiore situation??????

I am hoping that Oddo does come as he will not cost more then 4 mil. I am still kind of torn on Gallas and Barzagli however. The rummors on Barzagli have calmed down so much that I haven't read a thing in weeks so i really don't know what to think. At this point, I'd say....just go for whoever is cheaper which might be Gallas.

As for Buffon....It would be great to get him, but not neccessary. I share the same thoughts with some of the people that think Dida has cost us this season. Even though he is clearly one of the best (Barca game proves it), he has been really shaky and i must admit he has cost us quite a few points in Serie A. Paying big money for Buffon would be a huge mistake however, so with Abbiati coming back, I think we'll be set even without Buffon.

The latest name associated with us....Eto'o would be great. I don't care if it means that someone of the current strikers has to sit on the bench. I little competition shouldn't hurt anyone. Besides, if any of them are scared for their place, then they better work their buts off to be on that field. The only thing that I don't like about this is that he would cost a lot of money. Again just like Buffon........It would be nice but it is unneccesary to spend big money on something we don't really need.(We have the best attack in Italy and one of the best in Europe. If I'm not mistaken untill a few weeks we were only 2 goals behind Barca)

By the way....have we already signed Favalli???? I don't think it is official is it?

You have to add some other games like Inter (we win 1-0)...

So in those games we had our hand tied, we played poorly. My point is that our system has been clearly known to opponents, they what to do to stop us (attack Kaka and Pirlo position).

If we have a new system that all the functions are more evenly distributed among the midfielders, it will be difficult for opponent to read our games so to stop us playing.

I think it should be considered good to let go Gattuso in exchange for Diarra who has equal energy, more physical presence (taller) and more skill.

Haha. I find the English press to be a constant source of amusement. But then, I don't actually have to live with them as you do. They are completely obsessed with linking Chelsea and every big name player they can think of -- especially strikers such as Sheva -- and they rarely attribute these things to anyone. It's always "it has been said" or "Chelsea may be" something such as that. And, of course, they want to portray Manchester United and Liverpool as trying to keep up with Chelsea, so they get those stories too. It's a three-ring circus.

I mean, how many times does Sheva have to say publicly that he's not going anywhere? But the English press would rather believe gossip than to get it straight from the horse's mouth because sensationalism sells more papers. Well, that and Page 3 girls. :zany:

Hi.
Let me say that for the next season if our def looks like this i won't be disapointed:

Oddo---Costacurta----Gallas----Serginho (rotation)
Cafu------Nesta------Kaladze---Maldini (starters)

However, it wouldn't hurt to sign one extra central defender (CD), such as Tal Ben Haim of Bolton (number 26, age 26). If we dont get another one in and just sign Favalli and a riight defender, something like this comes to mind:

Oddo-----Simic----Nesta/Kaladze----Serginho (in case of long term injury to one of our 2 CD

And/or why not instead of Oddo just sign Dani Alves (defender/wing back right) from Sevilla straight away and have Cafu be his backup/mentor? The guy could cost a fortune because he IS good. He can both defend and attack and is definitely one of the three best players in the world in that position (who the other two are, I don't know:) Brasilian, 24 I think, and much better then Rafinha (in my point of view). He could be coupeled with Fabio Aurelio. Smile:)

However, I don't mind getting Oddo and Favalli, seems good to me.

And....I'm generally against Cris and all the others mentioned for the central defender role in here:)

I just watched the Roma-Milan game from last season where we won 3-1 (2x Crespo, Pirlo). We really had an exceptional season, but our weakest point this year was Pirlo's form. After I saw this game I remembered how great and important Pirlo was to us, I wish he plays better for WC and next season.

We do indeed require a wide-right player. However, one is already in our grasp... Pasquale Foggia. Ancelotti says we don't need him, I beg to differ. When we revert to the four-four-two flat formation, Foggia would be very useful for his pace and delivery. A good substitute for Kaka.

Sheva stay! It's better to be a sub at Milan than to play anywhere else. Hello, Simic. :w143:

Anyways don't cry peoplez..the French Legion is comming Diarra+Gallas+that fantasista kid! :bday: Silvio :nana: They'll all fit in nicely into the clubs style of play :5love:

And with the moneys there could be Daniele di Rossi. That's four. I wouldn't like to see Janku leave. Calc 45 - 5(can't be that much) - 24(Lyon are getting Drogba for 40) - 16(no CL for roma) = 0. check.
Oh yes, forgot Henry though.

Why am i writing this stupid post??

Sheva isn't goint to leave, we will get sum other defender instead of Gallas because they won't let him go (like Kaladze-Crespo thing last year) and we'll get one of the midfielders(Diarra) and that'll wrap it up with everybody staying.

unfortunately sheva will leave.

the market can be devasted by a possible Juve getting relegated. i think in that scenario at least 10 players will be sold necessarely, considering a red balance of 300 mill due to tv rights cl moneys and sponsorships dramatically cut.

if they get relegated as it's likely to happen juve will open a supermarket and buffon, zambrotta, emerson and many others will be on the market, with just a few players staying

Should Sheva leave, at this time I can only see two players filling his shoes: Adriano and Fred.

(Adriano would use Serginho and Kaka in a real top class way, and should get along with Pippo)

(I dont really know about Fred, but i suppose he is good -- a bit too young but could do the same things Adriano can)

I don't see Lyon or Inter selling.

Henry + Sheva = good;
Henry - Sheva = bad

i agree, the closest thing to sheva in the market is adriano and i would imagine him doing great here because of the brazilians we have here... but then again he would cost a fortune...

fred im not sure, hes still not a starter for lyon, he has some nice tricks up his sleeves, like his goal vs psv that is goal of the year for me... but hes no sheva replacement yet

This is true mk18. And based on what I've been reading in French papers over the last week, he is virtually a Milan player - visited Milenello too according to Le Parisien.
He is a bit raw, only 19 y.o., and not only possess very fine skills but was a drivin force behind Rennes, with Kallstrom in my modest opinion, last season. He can develop into a world class player in a couple of seasons and he is Gallas's contractual situation.
Interesting to see the French connexion apparently Milan is creating.

Some links to clarify (hope you can understand French):

T......and he is Gallas's contractual situation.

What did you mean by that?

OK. Thus far we have Gallas and Yoann Gourcuff comming 99%.

It's nice to have Yoann Gourcuff comming, I actually never heard of him but I hope that the manegament know what they are doing. If they say (and a lot of the MManiacs too) that he is a potential world class and already a nice player then be it. But, but, but....he IS 19 and I dont think we can expect that much from him just yet! Pretty much like Kaka when he was comming. My point is that if Rui leaves than who can tell for sure if Yoann Gourcuff will provide enough backup/cover for Kaka?

On Gallas..I said that I'd preffer we don't get him and get someone else instead. Well, if Milan (and MManiacs) think he is good enough then so be it.

However, I've thought of another player that could really add depth to the squad and could be on the moove as well.

http://www.goal.com/en/articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=53083

The long story cut short is in the last paragraph of the article.

In my opinion he is someone who would look to proove himself and moreover I think he is really a calm/cool player that never panics, really covers alot of space at the back. I mean really good. If someone could find more info on him, it'd be cool. Im just to laisy :2dri:

Maybe we are not signing him because we signed Amoroso this season and as far as I know teams in the Serie A are limited to signing one non EU player from outside of the Serie A per season. If he goes to Roma however....

Just finished watching the CL final - nice game with lots of action and drama in it. barca won the game in the end but Arsenal are the moral winners IMO - played 70+ min with 10 men and were the better and more composed team until the final quater of an hour when their legs were simply too tired.
Both Eto'o and Henry played very well and as long as we go for one of them in case Sheva goes, I am not a bit worried for Milan's future.
Other players that deserve mention are Larsson from barca and Fabregas, Eboue, Toure, campbell, and especially Lungberg from Arsenal ... speaking of a fast, extremely hardworking and versatile player, who can play both on the wings and in midfield (Seedorf's position would suit him, I think), Lungberg's gotta be on top of my list.

yeah i'd agree with all of that Zlatanov, i thought Ljungberg had probably his best game of the season for Arsenal, he'd been quite peripheral in the league but he looked sharp and threatened Barca a few times tonight. Don't see why as he was pretty good but the one player who shouldn't have come off was Fabregas, IMO. I know he was probably tired but still ...
and maybe Reyes coming in for Hleb (with Ljungberg going to the right) would have made Arsenal much more dangerous in attack. instead they were content with sitting back, leaving Henry isolated up front, and all barca had to do is keep knocking on the door, knowing that earlier or later someone would open it up.
I am just guessing but I think that's what Henry was trying to tell to Wenger on a number of ocassions throughout the whole second half.

Stezagud
17-05-2006, 16:22
yeah thats true, he had injury troubles and missed about 15 league games. I think he turned the corner against City, he scored his first (and only) league goal against them and was back to carrying the ball and getting into dangerous positions. If he does get back to his best then i'd certainly like to see him at Milan too, i think he'd work well with Kaka even though they make similar bursts from midfield...

Lord_Tawreser
17-05-2006, 16:24
I donno really, but Cole didn't seem do defend really well at the end and bringing in that other LB (the young one they have) would've done wonders. Ljundberg played well I guess but got tired and Reyes in his place would've done nicely to connect Henry! Reyes runns a lot too.

Or Ljundberg could've gone to the right.

18-05-2006, 05:10
Now, it came to me that if Kaka did against Barca what Hleb did to them and if Pirlo/Seedorf did what Ljundberg did...we would've whoooped them :)

A recap on my thoughts for the next season:
Mascherano now is my number one to be signed for the MF. Over Daniele De Rossi, over Poulsen and over Diarra. Next in line is Crespo to create an Argentinian connection.
As for a Sheva replacement Henry is number one.
And we need a solid right back and then we are set. :)

Doesn't it look awesome?

Should Oddo not be signed it would maen problems, he really gives this lineup a punch!
And in order for it to work, Kaka needs to run up and down the pitch alot more, not be laisey and just sit up! he needs to come down next to Rino and pick up the ball, and also Seedorf needs to do more of a Ljunberg performance. With Henry ang Gallas it'd be perfect. And the kick is in playing Gallas in between Oddo and Nesta!..And we could sub Marek for Maldini, Vogel for Pirlo and Serginho for Seedorf. Greeaaat! :) And Marek paying attention to defence.

And rotation-wise, we'd have Diarra or Mascherano doesn't really matter to cover for Pirlo/Rino. GET HENRY!!!! What else? Hmmmm......if Sheva leaves get Crespo and Gallas for him and buy HENRY and play Crespo instead of Sheva, everything else the same :) But having seen this lineup Sheva could stay and if Seedorf and Kaka promise to run more ;) Hehe

:p017:

P.S.
If we dont go for Gallas, then Edu could be great where I've put Gallas. If he does have an Italian passport, thats great, he doesn't count as an nonEU signing then!

Then the whole French thing could be off, we could end up with Poulsen doing the Diarra/Masherano thing and no Henry. In that case we can get David Villa (Torres/Eto'o/RvN), play him where Sheva is and play Sheva where Henry is. If you ask me, just as good.

Barzagli will not move from Palermo. There is a possible move to Inter... I doubt. He disappointed me in the final matches with some poor performances, but still young&talented.
Terlizzi announced that he will move and, despite missed a large number of games recently, there are some squads after him. Not sure about his potential.

I hope he doesn't move to Inter, I hate loose players for them.

Regarding Terlizzi, I really don't know the player sufficiently...

Let's go for Ze Roberto ! His contract is ending with Bayern and he can leave the German side. He's the kind of player we still need in our squad, a real natural wing-player !

if juve goes to serie B, lets go for ZAMBROTTA, the best LB on planet. Then we can play zambrotta-kaladze-nesta-gallas! Marek can move to his LM position, serginho can be backup. Zambrotta is 27 years old I think, and im sure he'll be brilliant signing. If Juve gets relegated.....

Fellow milan fans, i have been reading how we need a new striker but i feel that would only be the case is the worst was to happen and Sheva was to leave. However if that did come true (please god dont let this happen!) then we would get arount £30-£40M maybe even more.

We should then get a top striker like Henry, Eto etc. With this money we could then fix up our defence and midfield.

In defence we have Nesta Kaladze, which would be a good partnership. We should suplement this by buying 2 or maybe even 3 defenders. My choices would be

- Gallas (can play anywheer in defence)
- Daniel Alves. i spotted him first in cham manager, then for a Brazil team a few years ago, and recently playing for seville, what a great young player!

Midfield is where the reall work needs to be done.
- Seedorf is great, but has dips in form and in some games can be awful. we need a replacement and a young W Snijder would be great.
- Pirlo, awsome when on form and upfor it, but i feel he has a habit of falling over, looking for a free kick too often. We definetly need a player that will challange him to produce his best all the time. Requilme? will never be a squad player. Jankulovski should be given a chance.
- Gattuso, great effort but i think a bit of class is required. Gerrard will never come. Diarra would be a good choice.

Kaka is untouchable - a understudy will be required if the great Rui leaves.

Upfront

Sheva and Gila - Gila has 17 goals for his first season, excellent for a very young player who if continues can become one of the greatest Milan goalscorers. could you emagine another 10 years of him with almost 20+ a season!

Sheva is the greatest, but all good things do come to a end, and if he were to leave we would get good money with which to rebuild. We always find a great striker. Van Basten - Weah - Bierhoff - Sheva - Gila ? and so on. SuperPippo should have at least 1 more year of goals in him so it isnt all that bad.

therefor players we should target.

W Gallas, W Snijder, J Marcherano, D Alves, Diarra, Bonera(had a poor season, but is young) and a few more.

To go or be sold.

Stam, Simic, Vogal, Ambro, Amorouso, Rui.

Whatever happens, it should be a great summer for milan and cant wait till next season where we will show Europe and Italy, MILAN ARE THE REAL DEAL!

good post overall.. and weclome to MM

good selection of transfers, id take out mascherano from there because i dont tihnk we need him, and i would replace bonera with alex from psv or if we can grab zambrotta from juve hell play on the wings and gallas would have a mre central role, also im unsure about sneijder coming since it seems were signing this guy gourcoff i think his nme is, and another thing, selling sheva for 40 m pounds is still a rip off, he should be sold for like 50 or 60 million pnds + gallas, if chelsea dont accept, great we keep him, if not we get more money and we get henry instead maybe

The latest are that Toni, Trezeguet or Ronaldo are the players most likely to sub Shevchenko..this is due to a technical reason: we must sign a player that scores as much as Shevchenko

I think Ronaldo would be perfect: imagine we make him lose 10 kilos.. In fittest form he would tear any defence apart..

Toni: a great goalscorer and already established in Italy

Trezeguet: if juve gets relegated he may cost us NOTHING. He could solve the contract with Juve and come as free agent..relegation for non sportive reason is a valid condition to solve a contract

All these players set a tactical problem for their similar characteristics to Gila, but there aren't good enough second strikers on the market right now..

Graeme C

i think Ronaldo needs to go on a subway diet, real madrid players are either being over feed or under used....

I would prefer Trezeguet and Toni comming, it would be ironic Trezeguet comming though, he wanted to join Milan when he was at Monaco, and juve beat us to him.... Would prefer Toni...

I saw the Milan Lab on tv yesterday, so i'm sure they could get him in shape. My only worry would be (a) his price for his age (b) his wages (c) his injury jinxed knees (d) his attitude/mental state ... this last point is more in reference to his hunger/desire to succeed. Would he just come here to play football or come here with a burning desire to win and put all his effort into the team ? Because lets face it, he's lazier than he used to be.

Much more fun now than we had last year with just Gilardino soap opera.
Ronaldo is an interesting option. Playing for Milan he'll have the motivation to win the only trophy he really desperatly wants: CL. Trezeguet is other good option, and he can beat Adriano for the "King of the Milan's Nightlife" crown.
As for Toni, I think we need a physicall presence in the box 'cos all the forwards we have are preety much the same (physically thinking), but I'm not sure he can be the answer - btw, from the Viola team, I'll go for Ujfalusi.
Next season probably Milan will have a pair of new forwards: one of these abovementioned and Tevez. Yeah, according to some sources here in SP he'll be part of the package for Sheva. Masc is the other.
Have some doubts if Mascherano will fit in Italian style of playing. He is really talented, but seems me a bit slow to Italy.
If we have Buffon, Ujfalusi, Nesta, Kaladze and Serginho; Pirlo, Gattuso, Seedorf and Kaká; Ronaldo and Gilardino in the line up and Dida, Gallas, Maldini, Masc, Jankulovski, Gourcuff and Inzaghi/Tevez on the bench it'd be just perfect.
:diablo:
Forza Milan!

subbing Sheva with anyone would be a step backwords ... the most we could, if he goes that is, is make that step as small as possible.

This has actually made it into the media now (if you want to consider tribalfootball the media)....

AC Milan go for Corinthians pair Tevez, Mascherano
tribalfootball.com - May 22, 2006

AC Milan are chasing Corinthians pair Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.

Milan plan to use the cash raised from Andriy Shevchenko's sale to Chelsea to land the Argentina international duo.

Corinthians owner Kia Joorabchian has insisted that neither player is for sale. However, it's suggested that if Milan sell Shevchenko, Blues owner Roman Abramovich will use his influence with Joorabchian to convince him to shift both players to the Italian giants.

Personally, I would love to see Carlito and Mascherano at Milan. Tevez is already one of the best forwards in the world, but he doesn't get the acclaim because he doesn't play in Europe. The guy is a magician with the ball. It's as though the ball is an extension of his foot. And Mascherano is a supremely talented player technically and a tireless worker in the midfield. He wins so many balls it's almost incredible. And smart. He has great presence, his positioning is excellent, and he is developing into a fine leader on the pitch.

Milan: Sheva addio, arriva Tevez

Tevez cant replace Sheva, aldough he is a great prospect. In this case it would be better to go for IObrahimovic than Tevez, in my oppinion. Mascherano is a GREAT potential, he will become one of the best DM's in the world. Its good that we are searching for Dm's - De Rossi, Diarra, Marscherano.....

But, we still need Sheva to stay, and that could be first task for Silvio as our new/old president.
