View Full Version : Talent Scouting
this thread isnt made for the Kompany's or Podolski's out there... its for those players who grab your attention everytime you seem them play, but you feel no one else shares your views on him or they dont get publicity at all. I was thinking of opening this thread way earlier but i always forget, but after Sevilla's performance in the UEFA cup final i had to remember, players that have been on my mind recently are:
- Jesus Navas (Sevilla): a great young talent for the future, what i liked best was his ability to control the ball so easily while dribbling the ball too closely at such a fast speed, plus he has an amazing stamina, make sure you keep an eye out for him when you see sevilla play.
- Yeste (athletic bilbao): this guy has been a favorite of ine for 3 years, but due to my inability to follow matches the way i used to i havent seen hm of late, but from what i remember, he was an extremely talented Play maker with a sweet left foot and nice control over the ball, very skillfull but can be a bit of a hot head.
- Germany's number 9 in the U-17 euro championships: not sure what his name is, but ive seen bits of him in the currently ongoing tournament and he seems like the torres type, he tall and agile and his touch on the ball seems natural to him.
... thats all i can think of right now, there are many more but i just woke up... feel free to add, and please lets not put players that are known

i agree in this .. these 2 players i dont heard for them
but i think the new national player of England ( cant remeber his name )
good player

Theo Walcott Iked
Good thread mate
Iv'e also seen that germany number 9 he's called fisher he does look a player good in the air strong on the ball and a eye for goal.
Hedwiges Maduro (ajax): he has amazing dribbling skills everytime i have seen him he looks so impresive hope he plays in this summers world cup for Holland he is a talent
these are all players well known in the football agents world. Now Africa is a real palce to find some diamonds, and of course souh america in the first place.
yeah maduro is another one that i liked, i saw him play for ajax vs inter, and he was on of their best players that game

silva of valencia...(actually he's in Valencia B)great ML...great potential...
i just remembered, i wanted to mention these players after watching the african cup of nations:
Egypt
- abdel wahab (LB no.3): has a great ability to cross the ball and he can take great free kicks, he was one of the best players in the tournament, very good prospect
- no.22: forgot his name, but he scored the winning penalty for egypt, he played great throughout the tournament, hes fluid and he can set up players with nice simple passes
Tunisia
- Al Jaziri (striker no.5): hes fast and hes small but very strongly built, his activity in the PK area is always a trouble for the opposition, he loves to pressure the defence when the ball is with them
- Clatyton (LB no.20): hes originally brazilian, he can cross and hes always a starter for the team, good player.
more players i liked from U-17, i saw russia vs czech rep.
and i liked the czech no.6, very good prospect, all the attacks came from him, hes their RW, hes an excellent crosser of the ball and he looks confident.

It seems the Theo Walcott will sub Rooney on WC, is that right?
probably not directly, i think he'll be used as a late sub in emergencies as he is lightning quick and therefore the last thing tired defenders want to see ;)
To replace Rooney, Gerrard or Joe Cole will push forward, bringing in either Carrick or Downing. I'd prefer Carrick coming in with Gerrard pushing forward but its hard to say what Sven will do....
A few English talents to watch out for:
Micah Richards (Man City), Aaron Lennon (Spurs) Downing, Cattermole (Boro) Milner (Newcastle)
Guys, please don't diss this guy automatically just because he's American and if you haven't seen him play.
Oguchi Onyewu
He is one of the best young defenders I have seen. He currently plays for Standard Liegge, but if he has an impressive World Cup, which I'm sure he will, he will move on to a much bigger club.
I've seen enough of USA's matches to see talent. He is tall, 1.80 m or 6'2'', and very good in the air. He is till young, he just turned 25. The best performance I have seen is in the USA-Mexico qualifier that USA won to clinch a spot in Germany. He completely shut down Jared Borgetti, who absolutely dominated with his head in the Confederations Cup. For those who remember Borgetti scored with his head in almost very match, and no one, not Germany, Argentina, and I think even Brazil could shut him down. Onyewu did not even let him get a dangerou shot on goal off. There are, of course many other performances where he has impressed me greatly.
Now I am not saying we should go and buy this guy right away. He is still several years away from his prime. But I think he will develop to be USA's best defender and a top defender in a top European League, which will infirtunately proabably be the EPL.

havent seen him play, but from the belgian league i like anderlechts wihlemson (sp?), though hes pretty much known to some, he been around for a while, he also did well with the swedish NT in the euros
Remember this name guys....
Fernando Ruben Gago -- He's a defensive midfielder who plays for Boca Juniors in Liga de Argentina. He just turned 19 last month and he's already one of the best players in that league. Brilliant athlete and tough as nails. He's most often compared to Fernando Redondo, but I think he can be even better.

Wilhelmsson is quite good, but not European topclass and he'll never be it.
See what happened with Aruna: the big star in Belgium, but just a normal player at Lens this season.
No, the Belgian League is not strong enough. The good players from here all go to teams like Lens, Portsmouth, Monchengladbach,... and most of the time, they're not even comming from the bench. The only player with international class here is Kompany.

Absolutely! Of course, the great thing about Brazil and Argentina is that you can go to almost any city street corner and find a pretty good player!
:tong:
and others: kerlon, mascherano, schweinsteiger, ...
mascherano is playing in WC for argentina==> he could be great and replacing gatuso
mascherano and shweisentiger are known players and would cost over 10m ... that not talent scouting... its not a discovery of players which is the point of the thread
you're right all players here said are known... but still the board doesn't see them IMO
how come all the milan fans on this forum can see that...

Anderson(think he is now playing for porto) - Playing in Portugal. Outstanding player. Alongside Ramon (Atlético-MG) he was responsible for our national team reaching the final in the last FIFA U-17. Showed fantastic skills, very good pace, vision etc.
Carlos Alberto - Good player, but he is CONSTANTLY involved in trouble with other palyers, journalists etc. Plays his best under pressure.
Dagoberto - An outstanding player, but just redefined the expression injure prone.
Daniel Alves - A LR here in Brazil who was moved to a midfield position in Seville. A talented player who is probably moving to Real Madrid. He won FIFA U-21 in a very talented national team (Daniel Carvalho, Adriano, Nilmar etc.) three years ago.
Daniel Carvalho - Already mentioned him before.
Diego - ?
Diego Tardelli - a bust.
Dinéslon - average player.
Eduardo Ratinho NEW! - the next Cafu. Not kidding. I think he is for real. But too young.
Fred NEW!
Guilherminho - ???
Jadson - average player.
Jean Carlos Chera - ????
Jô - a bust.
Kahe - what he is doing here? He is old and a very bad player!
Kerlon - I have many doubts about his potential. Ramon is a better player in my modest opinion.
Neymar - I have a closer friend who is a sports writer and he almost kidnapped me a couple of months ago to see Neymar in action. A phenomenon for his age. If he develops his body, he'll be the second coming of Ronaldo. In the beginning of this year, Real and Barça tried to hire him.
Nicão - ?
Ramón - ?
Rincón - average player.
Zé Mário - ?
btw what u think about diego of porto (AMC) in past it was al about him, now he is fainted away...
Diego is a very very good player. Have everything (can create, score, very good skills, physical presence etc.) and is very difficult to put a man on him due to his skills and pace.
Like many Brazilian players, he has horrible tendency to dive - hope he had worked this issue.
I am one of his biggest fans, but is a mistery what happened to him in Portugal.
La Coruña made an offer for him last month.
Kaká is very close on him.

It's sad to say, mk18, but most of these wonder kids turn into average players. Brazil is a poor country and most of them are from very poor families and live under an incredible pressure to suceed in football - the only escape from misery.
And there is another incredible point: most of the Brazilian players you know were snubbed in the youth sistem. Kaká, for exemple, was just a bench warmer until become a professional here in São Paulo.
Ronaldo started his career in a small club in Rio de Janeiro and was offered, for just US$ 10.000, for two big teams there. They did not accept the deal.
The wonder kids have a special treatment from the clubs since a very early age and most of them "forget" to develop skills, body etc. on daily basis. With just 15 or 16, they're convinced that sucess (it means Europe nowadays) is naturally ahead 'cos they were gifted by football Gods with supreme talent.

JO must be good, because he is young and already playing with carlos tevez, he is young and already has his place in the team.

anyone whos interested in scouting talents should watch the france 1-1 netherlands match in the toulon tournament a couple of days ago, one of the fast free flowing games ive seen
i liked france's goalscorer gigloitti (something like that hes no9) but hes a bit of an a-hole, and i also liked the dutch LB dredd or something like that no.5, skilder no.8 (CM a tougher version of sneijder, sorry again not sure about spelling or pronounciation of their names) and i saw argentina vs czech republic and the argies have alot of great player like no.20 in attack and no.18 in midfield

Nice topic, mk18
Since I´m more used to brazilians players...
Kerlon(Cruzeiro): don´t need more scouts...
Wagner Ferrreira dos Santos(Cruzeiro; 1985): He isn´t too young like Kerlon and others, but isn´t too old also. Amazing left foot MD, great skils , pass vision, dribble and shot!!
This guy impress me since I saw him playing in the LMD(Seedorf role in Milan) last year. This year in Brasileirão, Wagner is playing in Kaká role, and right now, is the top scorer of Brasileirão with 8 goals. Wagner is Brasil NT material, fror sure!!!
Here you guys can see Wagner and Kerlon:
http://www.cruzeiro.com.br/cruzeiro/profissional/jogadores/
Marcelo Vieira da Silva Júnior(Fluminense; 1988)
IMO, this kid will be the best LB of the World in the near future(bresides his age)!!! He was in the same Brazil U17 team w/ Kerlon, Anderson, Ramon...Amazing talent, has everything what you need in a LB. Of course he needs to improve defensive skills, but you can see that is just matter of time and experience. This kid has it all!! Amazing skills, pace, dribbles and is a little dirty :diablo: like Gattuso and Daniel Alves...Marcelo is already a regular starter in Fluminense first team, and everytime that I see Marcelo playing(last night for example) his game is better!! It´s not a strech to say that Marcelo has the same dribble ability of Robinho and Ronaldinho, but playing in the LB.
Brazil NT material , for sure.
You can see his picture here:

Nuri Sahin is a Turkish player that Wenger has been trying to sign from Dortmund. Hes alot like C. Ronaldo.

How could you possibly have "an opinion" about what players the board sees? Do you have an opinion about what players I see too? Ha! This is simply nothing we have no idea about unless we see boardmembers saying out specifically what they know about some player.

mystik, but still, he was ineffective for the entire match..i really dont think he is worth 20m euro
He didn't really impress me either.. for the kind of price tag. It still was a nice goal though. We should give him some time to see exactly good he is. Ukraine was more or less asleep the entire match. Wait to see how he performs in the knockout phases then we can make our judgements.
I thought he was good, he got to many balls & gave some good passes...

Yesterday was the final match of our U-21 national championship and one player really showed that he belongs to another level and can be a very fine player in a couple of years: Luiz Adriano (Internacional).
Tall, fast, skilled, high football IQ and with a superb finishing.
He played only three times as a professional, but scored three goals!!!
He'll be under my radar from now on.

LOL with the Boaz thing. Have you watched him with Persipura recently? He didn't have a good performance as in 2004. And he wont compete in european football. In south east asia, yes, in asia or european..hell NO!
This is an article from Uefa.com showcasing ten of the best players to take part in the European Under 19 Championships.
Although Spain ultimately took the honours at the UEFA European Under-19 Championship, a high-quality competition in Poland has brought a number of players to wider prominence. uefa.com picks out ten who, having flourished at the finals, have the potential to transfer their talents to the senior stage.
Cafercan Aksu (Turkey)
A thoughtful and probing presence in the heart of the Turkish midfield, captain Cafercan also took the majority of their set-pieces and scored twice against Scotland, once with a perfectly-placed free-kick from the right wing, the other a nerveless penalty although it was not enough to prevent his side bowing out of the competition.
Igor Araújo (Portugal)
The Portuguese goalkeeper was a lively figure between the posts, celebrating wildly after keeping out a first-half effort from Ílhan Parlak in his side's 4-4 draw with Turkey. He may have conceded seven goals in his three matches but the tournament would have been a duller affair without his energetic contribution.
Scott Cuthbert (Scotland)
The Scotland captain led by example and was a dominant presence at the heart of his side's defence. Calm and assured in possession and an astute reader of the game, the Celtic FC centre-back seemed to grow in stature as the tournament progressed.
Steven Fletcher (Scotland)
Scored nine goals in Scotland's overall campaign, including two in Poland, although he was unfortunate to miss the final through suspension. A tireless runner who led the line with skill and endeavour, he has already made his mark on the senior game with Hibernian FC and looks to have many more goals in him.
Javi García (Spain)
The Real Madrid CF midfielder was a quietly imposing figure at the heart of a hugely impressive Spanish side and, in addition to his free-kick prowess, provided a regular aerial threat at set-pieces. Scored twice in the semi-final against Austria.
Erwin Hoffer (Austria)
Veli Kavlak's perceptive passing might have created the opportunities but Hoffer was clinical in front of goal, scoring in each of his three matches in Poland and four in total. Joined SK Rapid Wien before the tournament and looks to have every chance of making a real impact in Vienna.
Dawid Janczyk (Poland)
The brightest light in a disappointing campaign for the hosts, the Legia Warszawa striker's hat-trick against Belgium was the foundation of a 4-1 win that temporarily revived the hosts' hopes. Calm and collected in front of goal, Janczyk's nerveless finishing provided his side with a valuable cutting edge.
Roland Lamah (Belgium)
Belgium might have bowed out after finishing bottom of Group A but they look to have unearthed a real gem in the RSC Anderlecht forward. Scorer of an impressive double against the Czechs in the first round of matches, Lamah also found the net against Poland and was a contstant threat with his pace and physical presence.
Juan Mata (Spain)
The Madrid forward began the tournament in perfect fashion with a scintillating hat-trick in Spain's 5-3 win against Turkey on the opening day, and continued in the same vein by setting up further goals against Scotland in the group stage and Austria in the semi-finals, also finding the net in the latter encounter. A lively and creative striker.
Marek Strestik (Czech Republic)
The creative hub of a Czech team who bounced back from losing their opening Group A encounter to reach the semi-finals, the 1. FC Brno midfielder scored in each of their first three games including a superb strike against Poland. Clever and inventive, his forward threat was allied to an impressive work rate and dead-ball skills.
NIKO KRANJCAR[20-years old]DINAMO AMC(maybe the next BOBAN)
niko plays for hajduk but he will never be like boban , he is a croatian ronaldo- fat ***,but he has talent to become a star player.in the last 2 years he didnt show almost any improvment.best croatian young player is without doubt luka modric

I heard a lot about him before WC, but after WC i wasn't that impressed with him and oh by the way he happens to be from my Country :p017:
He was the best defender from the US... which doesn't mean much considering how much they sucked.
don't get me wrong on him, because i kinda like his stature which is good for a defender's aerial ability

Yea i saw him play against italy in the world cup, he looked very good, the thing that i was impressed the most with is the amount of strength he has, at times Toni & Gilardino where really finding hard to cope with him. Overall i think he is a solid defender.
