Talent Scouting

this thread isnt made for the Kompany's or Podolski's out there... its for those players who grab your attention everytime you seem them play, but you feel no one else shares your views on him or they dont get publicity at all. I was thinking of opening this thread way earlier but i always forget, but after Sevilla's performance in the UEFA cup final i had to remember, players that have been on my mind recently are:

- Jesus Navas (Sevilla): a great young talent for the future, what i liked best was his ability to control the ball so easily while dribbling the ball too closely at such a fast speed, plus he has an amazing stamina, make sure you keep an eye out for him when you see sevilla play.

- Yeste (athletic bilbao): this guy has been a favorite of ine for 3 years, but due to my inability to follow matches the way i used to i havent seen hm of late, but from what i remember, he was an extremely talented Play maker with a sweet left foot and nice control over the ball, very skillfull but can be a bit of a hot head.

- Germany's number 9 in the U-17 euro championships: not sure what his name is, but ive seen bits of him in the currently ongoing tournament and he seems like the torres type, he tall and agile and his touch on the ball seems natural to him.

... thats all i can think of right now, there are many more but i just woke up... feel free to add, and please lets not put players that are known

i just remembered, i wanted to mention these players after watching the african cup of nations:

Egypt

- abdel wahab (LB no.3): has a great ability to cross the ball and he can take great free kicks, he was one of the best players in the tournament, very good prospect

- no.22: forgot his name, but he scored the winning penalty for egypt, he played great throughout the tournament, hes fluid and he can set up players with nice simple passes

Tunisia

- Al Jaziri (striker no.5): hes fast and hes small but very strongly built, his activity in the PK area is always a trouble for the opposition, he loves to pressure the defence when the ball is with them

- Clatyton (LB no.20): hes originally brazilian, he can cross and hes always a starter for the team, good player.

more players i liked from U-17, i saw russia vs czech rep.

and i liked the czech no.6, very good prospect, all the attacks came from him, hes their RW, hes an excellent crosser of the ball and he looks confident.

probably not directly, i think he'll be used as a late sub in emergencies as he is lightning quick and therefore the last thing tired defenders want to see

To replace Rooney, Gerrard or Joe Cole will push forward, bringing in either Carrick or Downing. I'd prefer Carrick coming in with Gerrard pushing forward but its hard to say what Sven will do....

A few English talents to watch out for:

Micah Richards (Man City), Aaron Lennon (Spurs) Downing, Cattermole (Boro) Milner (Newcastle)

Guys, please don't diss this guy automatically just because he's American and if you haven't seen him play.

Oguchi Onyewu

He is one of the best young defenders I have seen. He currently plays for Standard Liegge, but if he has an impressive World Cup, which I'm sure he will, he will move on to a much bigger club.

I've seen enough of USA's matches to see talent. He is tall, 1.80 m or 6'2'', and very good in the air. He is till young, he just turned 25. The best performance I have seen is in the USA-Mexico qualifier that USA won to clinch a spot in Germany. He completely shut down Jared Borgetti, who absolutely dominated with his head in the Confederations Cup. For those who remember Borgetti scored with his head in almost very match, and no one, not Germany, Argentina, and I think even Brazil could shut him down. Onyewu did not even let him get a dangerou shot on goal off. There are, of course many other performances where he has impressed me greatly.

Now I am not saying we should go and buy this guy right away. He is still several years away from his prime. But I think he will develop to be USA's best defender and a top defender in a top European League, which will infirtunately proabably be the EPL.

Euh I'm from Belgium, and i can assure you: Onyewu is not good enough for a European top club, and certainly not for Milan

Remember this name guys....

Fernando Ruben Gago -- He's a defensive midfielder who plays for Boca Juniors in Liga de Argentina. He just turned 19 last month and he's already one of the best players in that league. Brilliant athlete and tough as nails. He's most often compared to Fernando Redondo, but I think he can be even better.

Wilhelmsson is quite good, but not European topclass and he'll never be it.

See what happened with Aruna: the big star in Belgium, but just a normal player at Lens this season.

No, the Belgian League is not strong enough. The good players from here all go to teams like Lens, Portsmouth, Monchengladbach,... and most of the time, they're not even comming from the bench. The only player with international class here is Kompany.
