Today's reports are saying that Milan are interested in signing the Bari talent Antonio Cassano which at the moment comes from a difficult season with Roma and Real Madrid. It is said that Cassano is not happy at Real becasuse he's not respected there and this with the new Presidential election can lead Cassano to Milan which are in search of a stiker that subsitute Shevchenko. Another advantage for Milan is that Cassano is 23 years and that his transfer would not cost a lot.
It seems that the only obstacle for this move would be the move of Fabio Capello from Juventus to Real. Capello would be the one of the few motives for Cassano to remain in Spain.

I would take Cassano instantly, he's young, italian and very talented. With Milan lab he'll return to full fitness within November 2006 and I think that with us his character will arrange.... a bit.

If the price was right, he would be a good purchase.

Would he be the only striker we would get ? If we got Cassano, would there be a need for anyone else ? I'm thinking of Suazo. Maybe we could get both, but would that be too much ?

It's always best to be cautious when dealing with Madrid, they are very good at getting the better end of deals.

Maybe we could ask about Baptista too !

I would rather have four quality strikers whom we could rotate rather then three really good ones and a fourth one who is eeeeeh . . so give me a young cassano, a young suazo, and young gila, with an older pippo, being tailed by a young kaka and that is one damn good attack . . with a lot of speed!

I don't want Cassano at Milan... because of his character... regardless of his talent.

if we are willing to take a bad character guy, why not go for a better talent like ibra. i don't like cassano at all.

agree ibra can score and his skill are almost the same as cassano if not better.

it would be very intresting for us to get cassano. cuz milan is like the group huging type, wonder if his personality will change. he could be a great star.

I definitely wouldn't mind seeing Cassano in Milan. He is young and talented. I just heard things about him not being well-liked by his coaches and teammates and stuff. No idea whether its true or not, but no denying his skill level

Milan have decided that Antonio Cassano would be the perfect replacement for Andriy Shevchenko, claim reports today.

A host of names have hit the headlines as potential transfers after the Ukrainian’s £30m move to Chelsea, including Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto’o, Hernan Crespo and Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

The latest addition is former Roma prodigy Cassano, whose career has hit problems over the past year.

He was signed from Bari for £20m in 2001 and left the Giallorossi in January of 2005 after six months on the sidelines for refusing to sign a contract extension.

However, his time at Real Madrid has been disappointing, as problems with his weight and form have seen the ‘Genio di Bari Vecchia’ barely step on to the Spanish turf.

Now there are claims the starlet, who will turn 24 next month, is set for a Serie A comeback at San Siro to partner Alberto Gilardino.

The only major stumbling block, suggest the newspapers, is the possible arrival on the Real bench of Fabio Capello.

Cassano has never hidden his desire to work with ‘Don Fabio’ again after their spell together at Roma and would relish the opportunity to prove himself in La Liga under his guidance.

Another issue is the increasingly fraught relationship between Milan and Real Madrid after Presidential candidate Ramon Calderon claimed he would sign Kaka if elected.

The Rossoneri were infuriated and repeatedly threatened to report him to FIFA if he attempted to contact the Brazilian, who is under contract.

Cassano is definately a great player, but I am just worried that he does not score enough goals. And maybe he is more of a playmaker type...

That's the way I think too, he's more a playmaking forward.

sf_esq

Definitely more of a playmaking forward. But he would give us some versatility. Similar to Kaka in certain ways. I'd take a chance on him. He's incredibly talented.

Jim_UK
06-06-2006, 17:05
The fact that he's a more creative forward and that he's not prolific are the main reasons i believe we may need someone like Suazo to help out our attack. Only having one striker (Gilardino) who is capable of 20 goals a season is alot of pressure on his shoulders.

On a side note i read on Calciomercato (so i don't know how true this is) that Huntelaar might be available for 15 million euros and that Fiorentina are looking at him. I think he will be a definate star of the future, but i think that right now he is possibly too young for us. Still, one to keep an eye on.

This is all I could find:

Suazo Linked To Milan

The Cagliari striker is one of the players on the Rossoneri’s shortlist to replace the departing Andriy Shevchenko.
After an incredible year by David Suazo, who broke Cagliari’s record of number of goals in one season, the Rossoblu attacker is now tempted by a move to Milan who are looking for a striker who can adequately replace Shevchenko upfront.

Apart from Suazo, the Rossoneri are also on the traces of Zlatant Ibrahimovic, Samuel Eto`o and Didier Drogba, with the latter being the favourite so far.

If Cagliari lose Suazo, the Sardinian side will most likely go for Lecce's Axel Konan.

From http://www.goal.com/en/articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=60192

I'd love to see him join us, he has some crazy moves and 22 goals in the Serie A is impressive!

@Gre-No-Li:

If he's too young, we can't rely on him to be at the top all season... And maybe he'll have trouble carrying the pressure of Milan...

But anyway, being 23 by next season, I don't think that's too young...

cassano is a good buy, suazo is too, but i doubt we will get both of them as i am quite sure amoroso will stay. how old is suazo? tevez is a dream buy though. i never see huntelaar plays, so no comment.

suazo and cassano would be a great solutions. Cassano is a great player when he is in his full fitness, and in Milanello he will be fit and behave well. Dont forget his play when he was in Roma, he is a great playmaker but he can also score. With Suazo as our 4th striler we will have super attack. Suazo's price is 10mil, and I dont know Cassano's price but it cant be too much.

Jim_UK
07-06-2006, 06:20
Maybe my words of 'too young' were the wrong choice in regards to Huntelaar. But i just don't feel that he is ready for a bigger club than Ajax right now. He's only been there half a season. It's better for him to stay there and gain CL experience, if Ajax were to sell him (and i can't see why they would) he'd be better off at a club like Fiorentina where he'd be first choice and gain league experience that way. Coming here and only playing now and again isn't the best solution for him at this stage of his career.

07-06-2006, 07:23
i think the only way we can replace shevas effect upfront is by adding 2 quality strikers, meaning amoroso would have to leave, i think suazo is joining, and i feel ibrahimovic would join unless juve arent relagated, in that case i think we would get tavano/cassano/vucinic

why dont milan go for fernando torres he is all ready a proven goalscorer an he is very young and the best years are ahead of him

07-06-2006, 09:50
I wonder how much Cassano would cost?

on one hand he's highly rated and real madrid won't sell anyone cheap.

However, it would be a bit rich of them to buy a player for 4m because of contract disputes and then expect over 10m for him, being that it's Madrid though this is probably exactly what they'll do.

Gio-mania
07-06-2006, 10:25
bring cassano to milan. With the devil he will develop- and learn the true nature of the force. Inzaghi could teach him a bit of in the box attacking and he'd transform more like sheva. (not tht shevas tht type of striker)
Fantasy/playmaker ----> sheva ---------> box-strika

amoruso doesnt convince me- plus, isnt he old?
our attack should be Gila/Pippo/Cassano/Suazo
we wouldnt spend over 20mil..... 25 max- and torres is priced at tht price, atleast, not to mention other.
half of sheva's transfer would cover tht- the other half could be put into buying defenders and midfielders, not to mentio berlusca could pitch in....

Like that, milan would be unstoppable (although sheva would be greatly appreciated)

Cassano said No to Milan.
Milan: Cassano dice no ai rossoneri
Mer 07 Giu, 6:22 PM

because there is nothing of substance to be translated - Cassano's agent denying any contacts with any team and also denying that Cassano is considering leaving Madrid - that's a first.
Also says that Cassano is happy with his situation at Real M, which I am pretty sure is news to Cassano himself. ;)
It's the usual game of denial, nothing more than that.

I would disagree slightly Zlatanov, not about Tuttosport's creditability, but about Madrid wanting Ambrosini. Ambrosini is seemingly linked with Madrid every summer, he's always been one of their options when they go for midfield players.

It would be sad to see him go as i think he's Milan through and through, but he's surely not going to stick around forever being a fringe player. He's not as stupid as Simic ( i mean seriously what does Dario think will change from last season ? If anything he'll be further behind in the pecking order) and unless Carlo's 'new' midfield ideas include, i can see him saying adios to us.

If it was a straight swap for Cassano, who could argue with that ? Plus we'd have maybe 1 or 2 new midfielders to come in, from the usual list of Diarra, De Rossi, Fiore, Brocchi ... even Sneijder.

I agree with you that Ambro has always been rumoured to be a Real target, especially after they lost makelele. i was just referring to the credibility of the source, not whether the move would make sense or not.
As for dario, I don't think he is stupid or having any illusions. read that his wife wants to stay in Milano ;), so for him it's either Milan or inter, basically. Plus, it depends on his view - some players prefer to play regularly in smaller teams, other's see it differently.
And I think Ambro would have played much more if it wasn't for his constant injuries. We have to admit that he has always been very fragile and that has also contributed in a big way to his overall status at Milan as a bench player.
Still, I doubt Real will put a Milan bench player in the heart of their midfield. Chances are they want him for a squad player and then, once the next president is elected, they would go for someone like Gerrard or Diarra. So, if Ambro thinks he would be starting for Real, he may be up for a nasty surprise.

Like you say Zlatanov, this will put Massimo in an akward position, does he stick it out with us or chance his arm and go to Madrid and see if he can win a place there ? His other alternative is regular football with Fiorentina, but maybe the glamour of Madrid will entice him. Plus i think he'll get more playing time as his main defensive midfield rival is Graveson and he's alot better than him. But again, as you mention, it also depends on who else Madrid get. One way or the other it's a big summer for Ambrosini.

Thanks mk, i forgot Emerson ... or 'the boar' in as Gre-no-li calls him :D

The main reason why (I beleive) Ambro's demand was high in Madrid is because Sachhi was on their board and since Luxemburgo's departure (and eventually sachhi's too) I didn't come across any news which said that RM are desperately looking for him. So I don't think the urge of RM for Ambro would be the same.

Anyway, is any one dreaming of Ambro's exchange with Cassano without any cash flow? If that really takes place then I wouldn't mind giving cassano more preference than Ibra.

That's a pretty good point. i completely forgot about Sacchi's Spanish adventures :).
if they do want Ambro, I would guess Milan will push for a straight swap with Cassano. Real are disappointed with Peter Pan and probably wouldn't mind seeing his back - he's said to be the fattest/most out-of-form player in their squad, and with Ronnie in there, that's some achievement :5drunk: Plus, it's not like Real splached out big on cassano - just some measerly 5 mil EU or so, more than a excellent - from real's perspective - price for our Ambro.

Jim_UK
08-06-2006, 07:42
That's a good point rahul.

Madrid have alot more forwards than defensive midfielders, so i don't think they'll be too upset about losing Cassano. Plus they are more likely to buy attacking players than defensive players, due to the nature of their club. So getting Ambrosini cheaply may seem like a good deal. In their eyes then, they can splash out on targets like Trezeguet, Ibrahimovich, Joaquin, Ronaldo, etc, etc

Šimić has a new contract in which he has a loan option, so that is the reason he renewed the contract, just to change it up a little bit. He has no illusions, I think he just feels well in Milano and wants to live there even if that means he will not play. Same goas to players like Kalac, Coppola, Amoroso... About Cassano, I've already said he could be a real solution, but we ned him in real shape.

Well i ahve a feeling that we might sign more then a player from real madrid.
If Juventus go down to serie B then Capello will surely leave which would take him to Madrid. And as Capello has stated several times, the Madrid team would change dramatically starting with Ronaldo.
..
They down see eye to eye and Capello doesn't like him. That would make him available for transfer and Milan will buy him i can promise you that. Cassano might not come if Capello were to arrive at Madrid but i think Roanldo would got great at Milan with Gila. Milan Lab would get Roanldo back in shape and he would replace the hole sheva left behind.
