AC Milan president Berlusconi to make £15M Ibrahimovic bid
tribalfooball.com - July 18, 2006

AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi is ready to back coach Carlo Ancelotti's judgment and move for Juventus striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Swede won't consider dropping into Serie B with Juve, but his poor form over the last 12 months has cooled the interest of several long-term suitors, including Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Reports last week stated Ibra had already agreed personal terms with Inter, but with patron Massimo Moratti targeting Fiorentina striker Luca Toni, Ancelotti is convinced now is the time to move for the striker.

Berlusconi is confident he can persuade the Turin giants to cash-in with a bid of £15 million - a year ago Juve wouldn't have considered selling the Swede for less than three times that amount.

he is one of the most skilled players in the world . yes he had a bad season, but in season 04/05 he was amazing.i think he can find that form in milan like pirlo did and seedorf after joining us from inter

I wouldn't bet on this being true as it's been reported by tribalfootball.com. From what I understand Zlatan is on his way to Inter, and if he is not better than what he has shown the last year and in the World Cup for Sweden, then that's fine with me...

Disagree, disagree, disagree....respectfully that is :). A "garbage" player does not have an immediate impact on a league as difficult as the serie a. On the contrary, all players have ups and downs in form, even "garbage" players. I think Ibra is a proven player, who on form (i.e. 2004-2005 season) can be devastating. Sure, he's not the finished article, but given the right environment, this guy could be really special. Sure, he had a pretty crappy second half of season. In fact, he had a horrible World Cup. BUt so what? The guy still has enough quality. In fact, this might be a good situation for us. His price/demand would certainly come down given his recent performances, and if we are smart, we should be able to sign him for a bargain (compared to how much he would have costed last year).

Just read (http://sports.alice.it/it/cmc/calcio/200629/cmc_98936.html) that Inter want him on loan for the next season.
IMO he is much better than El Niño and less expensive. But his demeanor on the pitch is something to worry about...

BluezBruva

I don't think you should bid for him. I think Torres or Tevez would be a much better option as Ibro isn't a proven goalscorer ever. And he does have a few "off days" doesn't he..

tevez yes, torres no

given the price tags of the players linked to us this is how i rank who we should buy:

1- Suazo (15m euros)
2- Tevez (40m euros/dollars - not sure-)
3- Klose (should be around 15m euros)
4- Makaay (should be around 10m euros maybe even less)
5- Ibrahimovic (15m euros)

Zlatan is a big no-no in a club like Milan not because of his attitude or something like that but because he cant play football these days, good with the ball standing (street moves) still but that´s all, and yes I have seen him play from Allsvenskan to Serie A. He seems to be a good kid but he´s not the saviour type of player Milan is looking for.

Adriano over Zlatan for me, definitely.. But I wouldnt be sad if we got Zlatan. I dont think there is any thing Milan can do anything this summer to make me smile, especially after having such a terrible summer so far: Sheva, then the scandal, losing Zambrotta and most likely Buffon, and Kaka saying that "he doesnt mind where he plays, its up to Milan to decide". Although I must admit, signing Carlitos Tevez would make me do cartwheels and summersaults all over the place.

This is exactly my opinion to to they have to sign some great prospect so the rest of the Milan players can see that Milan is pushing for the big titles. I thought that Berlusconis money was going to get Milan thru difficult situations like this suddenly we need CL and when we is linked to a player all I see is transfersum's like Everton could compete with so we can probably forget about Tevez and be prepared for a "because of the scandal we have decided that we are good as we are we don't need new players" or something like that :moan:

There's still a lot of time before the transfer window closes and a lot of good players who might be available to Milan. We just need to be patient and wait until things are settled with the appeals. We are Milan and great players will always want to wear the Rossoneri colors.

Well, I would back Ibra if he came to Milan. On more a funny note, I don't think he would play real well in Span because he can't moove LoL but given the right conditions he could do pretty well for Milan. Him and Suazo or him and Adriano or him and Cassano would patch Milan up just fine. I'd rather have any of the forementioned combos than just Tevez or just Torres (for that matter I wouldn't have just Torres at all -- much rather Villa or even Del Piero :)

The only thing i think about the Ibrahimovich transfer is that too many people think that we will be the club to change him into a world class striker. We may have done it with a few people in the past and have had moderate success with others, but we've also had our failures.

I think it's alot of money to be spending on someone who hasn't played well for a long time, especially when there are other strikers out there who are more consistent in their performances even if they do play in other leagues.

I never like Ibra from the time he played with Ayax. I watched the game and started to feel that he's quite rude and didn't play a fair football game.

Moreover his price tag is quite ridiculously expensive as I read on channel4.com as belows ;

Juventus have made a late bid to keep Zlatan Ibrahimovic in Turin by placing a £28m price tag on his head.

On the contrary, I've been a huge fan of Ibra since his Ajax days and even more so in his Juve days. His price tag is an absolute joke. If Juve were still in serie a and the player doesnt want to leave then fine. But Juve are playing in serie b next year and Ibra has publicly stated that he wants to leave. Juve has no choice but to sell him at a cut price. We ought to negotiate a package deal for both Ibra and Buffon---after all, it seems like Juve is only inclined to sell in pairs (Zambro plus Thuram; Emerson plus Cannavaro) :)

Jim, according to today's edition of La Gazzetta , Juve is going after Amelia and Lucarelli 'cos they're already realised that keep Buffon and Ibrahimovic will be a "bit" difficult.
Maybe before the end of august we'll have the end of this soap opera.

Jim_UK
01-08-2006, 09:06
Further to those reports Nirvana it suggests Juve are after Amelia because we will offer them £50 million for both Ibrahimovich and Buffon !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean what the heck is that about ? £50 million ? Why are we prepared to pay that much for those two ? It's ridiculous. I'd be so angry if we paid anywhere near that much for those two. How can Zambrotta & Thuram go for such a small fee and yet we're looking like paying 2 - 2.5 times what barca paid ?

This is ludicrous. Ibrahimovich should not be a Milan player full stop. The other two we keep mentioning would be much better suited to us.

zlatanov
01-08-2006, 09:10
I think it says that we will probably have to offer around 70 mil euros (50 mil BP) but this is based on yesterday's reports of Juve fixing Ibra's price on 40 mil. The article basically guesses - another word is speculates - that if Ibra's price is 40 mil, then for both, Milan would have to offer around 70 mil.
After that the article goes on to say that, after all, this move is stil in its initial phase i.e. many things can happen later on.

Good Heavens thats a lot of money. Isn't that around what Roman is worth? I can see him singing actually like a mad uncle, but I don't picture him a gardener. He probably has Galli come over & threaten his veggies to grow bigger, faster, better....

and back on topic, please no Ibra, no matter how rich Berlu is.

Mulling over all the rumours today, it seems that Moratti wants Ibrahimovich and is trying to get him. Which is some good news for us, however i believe we're still looking at him. With any luck Moratti will get there before us.

I don't dislike Ibrahimovich because he's a Juve player, i dislike him because i don't see what's so special about him.

Even when he was at Ajax i would never say i liked him. If he did come here i would support him and i would hope he could prove me wrong. I just think both Torres & Tevez are extremely better options, both as players and for the club.

Josh-Sheva

Personally, I can't say I've ever been too keen on Ibra. He's a decent player with talent, and has great potential (some say to reach MVB's levels), but honestly, I can't ever seeing him truly reaching that level.

Honestly, I wouldn't be too disappointed seeing him unveiled, but I do think there are some much better opportunities out there. Plus, considering the price tag Juve (especially considering they're in Serie B) placed and Ibra's form the last year, I think I'd describe it a rip off if we were to sign him for anything more than 20million euros.

Finally, his personality and attitude are especially worrying. He's fallen out with a lot of players, coaches and other people. His arrogance is far too great to be described as mere confidence and he really strikes me as a player that could cause disharmony at our club.

ok, you can join jim_uk and me in praying that Ibra won't be here. i see 10 times more potential in cassano than him and heck, cassano seem like a goodie two shoes beside Ibra. i rather see milan using the money for cassano.

I agree with you fellows on Ibra, there are players better than him out there. If we wanted Cassano we should have gotten him before Capello went there, but now, we can forget about signing any Real player, especially after the Kaka affair.

I would love to see Tevez here instead of Ibra. I hope he will be our surprise transfer. Or even for a more crazy surprise, imagine getting Sheva back!

I partially agree with you, ACMILAN1983. His demeanor on the pitch is something to worry about, but everything now leads to him as the solution to our attack. And I think he's a good player and can develop.
But I just can not see "some much better opportunities out there". I have doubts about all forwards recently linked with us. None convince me 100%.

Tevez is good..but extremely short. We need tall strikers to

1. score headers
2. flick on long balls for Gila/Inzaghi to pounce on
3. to assist at defending set pieces
4. to be a threat when we have set pieces

Jim_UK
04-08-2006, 13:14
Mystik i think you have a few of your points the wrong way around. Shevchenko was the striker who would drop deep to pick up balls and in those situations you need someone with skill to beat people and pick a pass, this is what Tevez & Torres can do. Tevez more so, his dribbling qualities are quite something.

Gilardino was/is our point man, the guy to lead the attack. He's the one who will win the long balls and flick them onto someone else. He's the one who will hold the ball up to bring in other players. He did this for Italy at the world cup, this is what he does for us.

Smaller players can still be a threat at set pieces. Owen's small but he's pretty good at heading the ball. It's not always about how tall you are, if it were Zigic, Crouch and the tall aussie player would all be the best headers in the world, but they're not. Of course height can help, but it's the quality of the cross combined with the timing of the run that makes a goal, not strictly how tall you are.

Mystik
04-08-2006, 13:38
Yea I guess I got point 2 all wrong.. but I think Ancelotti is looking for tall strikers because we haven't been linked to Tevez for a while.. only strikers like Torres or Ibrahimovic.

Jim_UK

maybe Mystik, maybe.

Could someone please tell me that Tevez's passing is top notch too? I don't rememeber he passed the ball much in the world cup. He only did the passing when he couldn't dribble. That's the outmost concern in him. Sometimes I do think South American players over-dribble occasionally, which could ruin the flow of game. Anyway, I will appreciate any opinions.

I think for his position his passing is reasonably good. He's no Pirlo when it comes to passing, but he can do a lot of neat little plays very well, which I think with Kaka and Gila, would work very well.

SANT
04-08-2006, 17:15
To me, Tevez would fit way better than any other rumour (Ibra, Torres, etc.)

He can play as a Pippo Inzaghi in the area, or as a Kaka' coming from behind or the sides (just comparing positions, not personal qualities)

GilAttack [11]
04-08-2006, 17:18
Look, Chelsea didnt buy Shevchenko because of his passing and we wouldnt buy Tevez because of his passing skills. Still, I think its a moot point since Milan doesnt seem to have interest in buying him but he wouldnt affect our game flow. I mean, guys like Gilardino may alter it when they play outside the box but not Tevez.

Well, if Milan is interested in Ibra, then maybe he wouldn't be too bad in Milan and his behavior wouldn't be too bad in Milan. There hasn't been any dismissals and there certainly is talking.

So what happened throughout last season with Juventus then ? I would take Ibrahimovich if he ...

1) Changed his attitude
2) Worked for the team and not himself
3) Stopped sulking all the time
4) Scored 20 - 25 league goals in a season
5) Displayed his talents on the pitch and not on stupid nike videos.
6) Was available for 15 million EUROS

and only if all of these points were satisfied.

Aside from point (4) which no one can really predict, who knows how many goals someone will score ... and point (6) which is just dreaming, both Tevez and Torres fulfill all the other points. So why do we still want Ibrahimovich ?

One thing to remeber about Zlatan is that he did score 16 (?) goals his first season in Italy. It's not uncommon for foreigners to struggle their second season in Italy (Kakà for example), so maybe he'll come back with a vengeance next season!

Personally I've lost faith with the management.
Carlo refuses to give younger players much a chance. Old players and players who should have been moved on are still wearing our colours without deserving them.

Next season Maldini, Billy, Cafu, Simic, & Serginho will be gone leaving us with Nesta, KK, Bonera, Janku & Favalli. :dontkn:

It's ridicolous that we haven't made major improvements in our defence. We keep saying that the club is bigger than any one player, but both Billy & paolo should no longer have to be called on to lead our defence. We will NOT win anything this season with the current squad. We need at least 2 more defenders, a keeper, another def mid to cover injury prone Ambro & 2 quality strikers to get rid of Amoruso & Borreillo, and who are we looking at?? Amongst the defenders that we have left, I trust Nesta and KK with my life, Bonera at least has some experience in Serie A and Janku did showed some brilliance last season. That's left Favalli. Seriously, I don't have anymore words to curse this guy.

Speaking of Ibra, at least Billy, when asked to choose between Crespo and Ibhra, chose Ibra. As long as Billy can handle Ibra if the deal managed to go through, then, I don't really mind him in Milan. And hey! Maybe during our January tranfer, our management finally shows their fangs. On the other hand, Ibra is plain bad, you don't even see him in the game at all.

Yeah, I probably didn't see enough games to really judge him. And if he'd sucked the way Ibrahimovic did this season, he'd been demoted to shining boots! ;)

With Juve's price for Ibrahimovic ranging between £18 million and £28 million, i should imagine we can afford any of the players you listed.

We've hardly ever been linked with Klose, nor Trezeguet. Toni we've been associated a little, but not much. The two we're always associated with are Ibrahimovich and Torres, so i don't see the latter as being pure fantasy.

My view on Ibra is that he has amazing potential, and for a guy his size he has great technique as well. His reputation was tarnished in Juve, but if Carlo can whip him into the right shape, both physical and mental, he could become on of Serie A's top strikers.

Official: Crespo to Inter
http://www.channel4.com/sport/footb...alia/aug7f.html

I think Ibra is coming. He'll become one of starters and I think he can work well with Kaka.

We'll regret this. Mark my words (unless I'm wrong, in which case please don't mark my words), this was a very smart move for Inter. Crespo may not be the flashiest or most creative striker, but he gets the job done and is consistent. He happens to be at the right place at the right time, especially on set pieces. He really would have helped us out.

I have no problem with Zlatan coming(Zlatan is a nicer name than Ibra). He's an extremely talented forward who has Serie A experience and is exactly the type of forward we are lookin for. He will adapt to our style of play.. I guarantee he won't try to be a one-man show. What more do you want..?

Zlatan is ok, and good backup for Gilardino and Inzaghi. But tell him that he is a backup player, and he will be whining and complaining for 2 years... I can't stand that guy. I don't think he's handled his dispute with Juventus as an adult either.
:D, Zlatan plays lower than Inzaghi and Gilardino you know, so he can't be subs for them:D. And I think Zlatan is good enough for Milan, he's just too expensive:D.

We don't need Toni, Trezeguet, Klose:D. Toni is 18M as far as I concerned. Trezeguet and Klose is expensive too. With that money Tevez can't be a problem:D.

The facts are :

1. Crespo has signed with Inter...good enough for not bothering Milan's plan

2. Zlatan will for sure be sold as Juve has no more power to hold him. Hopefully with lesser amount of transfer money

3. Dida is planning to move to Corinthians and this could mean that we can get Tevez and Buffon to replacing Dida.

Thsi is maybe what Galliani told us sometimes ago that Milan will bring in Stars.....just cross our fingers then :v408:

Being Tevez a fan favorite in Corinthians, I think money will be important for their management but not for their fans: enter Dida.

And if we could cap it off with Buffon, then great.

Here in MilanMania it seems we are always discussing the same players, but I imagine Milan's board contemplating many possibilities.

Hmmm....Very interesting, Inter has just signed Crespo. So where does that leave us? I agree with you guys, it's looking more and more likely that Ibra will be joining us (sorry, Jim :)). Moratti promised one of Crespo, Ibra, or Toni this year. They've got Crespo, Toni is looking likely to stay at Fio. Ibra wants out---if not to Inter, then who else? He'll probably sign for us, which makes me very, very happy....

As for missing out on Crespo, I'm glad we didnt opt for him. He had a good season on loan with us, but we're probably better off getting someone younger who would provide a long term solution for us. I think Crespo is now past his prime (too bad he moved to England at his prime) and it's best that we look for other options...

Ibrahimovic-Milan Deal Almost Sealed

Juventus will receive 28 million Euros for the Swedish player

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is on the verge of joining Milan as the Bianconeri and Rossoneri have reached an agreement for the transfer of the forward, for a fee of around 28 million Euros.

With the Old Lady condemned to Serie B football, Ibrahimovic did not hide the fact that he did not want to play in a lower division.

Inter were also after him, but following the signing of Hernan Crespo, the Nerazzurri let go.

The player dubbed as 'the new Van Basten', should have the transfer become official by the end of the day, or latest within the next upcoming days.

Except we haven't changed the starting 11 gradually, it's hardly changed at all over the past few years which is why quite a few changes to the first 11 are needed now !

if you watched arsenal vs juv last year cl, he was the best juv player, the commentators were surprised when they substituted him

hahaha ... what ! I watched those games and every single Juve player was rubbish in both legs. Ibrahimovich did NOTHING, especially at Higbury, he was terrible. Yet this is the player alot of people want here ? No fight, no determination, no pride ?? It doesn't matter if you're playing badly and things aren't coming off for you, you can still track back and help your team out instead of standing still waiting for the ball and sulking !

They were surprised because he should have been off sooner i expect !

Regarding his transfer to us, there are mixed reports today with alot of stories saying Inter are ahead of us to sign him and some stories saying we are ahead. So where Goal got this idea that he's already ours from when sources in Italy don't know is beyond me.

People have been moaning that Diarra isn't worth what they are asking, then they should start moaning about this too as Zlatan is well over priced. The article even suggests Juve are holding out for £21 million for him ! When has he ever done anything to justify this price tag ? Don't talk to me about potential for heaven's sake, he's not that good !

Gilardino was expensive but that was on the back of a hatful of goals over a few seasons and then continued some good goal scoring form with us. This is insane if we even contemplate giving Juve that much. For that price let him go to Inter and let us go for Tevez and Martins or Suazo.

the thing with Ibra is that, for some reason, perhaps to strike some fear into the opposition, Capello constantly talked him up while he was at Juve in his first season. that's where we got all those "next MVB" comments, I remember thinking that when he needs a contract renewal they are going to get screwed because Capello was just pumping air into an already pretty big head with his praise.

His reps been built by words, not on the pitch actions. He's certainly worth a good 12m, just given his experience and skill, but he's horribley over-rated.

nah, i dislike Pippo before he came to Milan because of his attitude and dirty diving antics. but he soon changed after he came and keep his ugly side away.

Pippo have a good record before coming here and is a talented goal poacher so i don't see why anybody have problems with his potential to do well here. But the problem with Ibra is i haven't seen enough talents on display and his stats doesn't speak well of him. A striker with only a single digit in goals scored in 1 season speak volume of his "talent" or basically the lack of. Even Tomasson scored more goals than that while playing as a sub for us. If he can't get 20 goals a season then i see no point in paying so much for him.

The reason Ibra is going to cost so much is not only because of his unquestionable skill as a football player. It is also because: 1) He is young and can ensure any club that buys him a long term solution (between 8-10 years); 2) He is one of the few players that are PROVEN in serie a. Yes he may have had a less than impressive second season, but ask any serie a player or coach and they will tell you that he has what it takes to play in serie a. In fact, our own Costacurta has come out and said that he would choose Ibra over Crespo. Even Ancelotti has made comments about Ibra being a good addition to the squad should a deal be concluded; 3) THe club that took a chance on him was Juve. They paid around 11.5M to secure his transfer from Ajax. At that time, nobody knew whether or not he would succeed in serie a and I'm pretty sure that not many clubs would have been willing to pay that much and take such a big risk on him. Now Juve is entitled to make some money on him arent they? So if they sell him for 17.8 or 20M, they would have made a good profit and I think that is only reasonable.

Yes, Ibrahimovic is overhyped. Yes, he does not score many goals. Yes, he still needs to improve. But believe me, he is a massive talent and with another two or three years of top level football with us, he can develop to become one of the best strikers in the world.

Vonim
08-08-2006, 22:14
If Capello kept him in starting 11 even when Ibra wasn't at his best, and if we are prepared to offer 30 M Euro for him, then Ibra certanly has what is needed. Remember his first season and you will see how good he is. In his second season in Juventus i think he had some personal problems, or problems with his team mates or the menagment. This Ibra attitude, and not his quality as a player or scorer, is the greatest concern we should have.
24 years old player who was a starter in Juventus, and who's our main target and on whom we are prepared to spend most of the money we got from Sheva, is a great footballer without any doubts.
Have in mind that we as amateurs, and Capello and Ancelotti as experts, have different views on things. And i would trust them much more than i would trust myself in picking a player for the team.
I even concider ourselves lucky for bying him, if we buy him at all, at this prize. If Juve didn't go down to B, and if Ibra repeated his first serie A season, his prize would have been around 30-35 M pounds for sure.
And if his first season was great and his second season bad, what makes us think his third, fourth and fifth season will be the same as his second one and not as his first one.
If Inzaghi's attitude changed when he came to Milan, Ibrahimovic's attitude may also change, so lets keep things positive and lets hope Ibrahimovic will come and bring us a lot of serie A and CL trophies with his goals.

Ohh my god that´s money well spent, well he´s a real step up from Shevchenko :rollani:

If we fail to net a good result against Red Star tonight, I bet he won't sign and run to Inter like the mercenary he is.

Jim I really don't agree with you.

I'll be convertrd if he scores 25 AUTOGOALS in a season, ignoring the team and cause at least 5 fights with his teamates every match!!!!!!!!

from calciomercato.com (10th august), translated by babelfish:
"Blow of market of the Inter, that it burns the competition of the Milan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic is made sure. The agreement with the Juventus has arrived in the night for a figure near 25 million euro. To the Swedish forward a contract of four years from 4,5 mln to season. Between today and tomorrow announcement and official presentation. Martins will be yielded in England."
We won from Inter on Bonera 1-0
We lose from Inter on Crespo 1-1
We lose from Inter on Ibra 1-2...

maybe Braida can focus on Torres? (altough I'm sure that the chance is really small..)

Martins sarà ceduto in Inghilterra.

I wouldnt worry, we have amoroso and if we need another stiker we can still recall vieri :frustrat:

Goddamned... we need to sign a top class striker, we cannot go on without replacing Shevchenko, that's unacceptable!!!!

Are there many other options than Tevez left on the market now?

Buffon or perhaps Amelia to replace Dida who moves home in exchange (with some money) for Tevez and Mascherano. That'll work!

It's official! (http://www.juventus.com/uk/news/detail.aspx?lml_language_id=0&trs_id=1370000&ID=8364)

Who will come to us now?

adriano, martins, recoba, cruz, crespo, ibra ...... seems excessive. id like 2 get adriano .... but i think they will sell cruz and martins :irritate: .... our search 4 a sheva replacement has been narrowed. it may seem like milan is missing the boat with transfers ... but im sure we r waiting 2 gt the ones we want :dcool:

Adriano is way down overrated, he can't replace Shevchenko at all... my goodness, the board must react properly, and FAST!

Yep, it seems we're running out of time!

Also, how many forwards does Chelsea have now? And ManUtd are still looking to strenghten their strikeforce, right? This could be scary! :(

I think this is a good news for us. I don't want a player that is not supportive to his club when the club is having a hard time. I hope we will get the surprise that we're waiting for.
