Croatia 2 - 0 England (lol) :rotfl: :ilol:
I am glad to see that the team of warriors (Croatia) not only defeated England but also embaraced them and reminded them that they are not a quality side and if it wasn't for their strong media (Sky Sports etc) nobody would have known England.
I have to say that
Forza Paul Robinson :rotfl:
u have done a great job to bring smiles back to ,my face after Argentina's defeat in WC. I enjoyed it England keep it up :djn: :rotfl:
Next Sky Spots may come up with the Headlines that Theo Walcott :pom: , our new Maradona, but guess what just Owen and Rooney he would be finished in 3 season and its simple as that :ilol:

hahahahaha!!!! I enjoyed every moment of this NEW ENGLISH EMBARASSMENT!! One of the commentators is Igor Štimac who played for West Ham and in the replay when he sees the miss-kick again he said : " nice, nice..." And then the whole stadium was going : Gary! Gary! To Gary Neville for scoring for Craotia. So, as years go by, England failes.... :) :) :) :) :) But im sure if few days they will again assure themselves they are top 3 football nations in the world. Oh, sorry, the best one....

we must be pretty good if every time we lose you have to dedicate a thread to it  MZK, do you know how many teams have won in Croatia? None. Ever! not Brazil, Argentina, Italy (who lost at home to them only 2 months ago) or anyone else! which makes just about every national side on the planet as bad as England by your logic.

This was always going to be our hardest game and it still took a total fluke to kill us off, well that and a goal from the usual rent-a-brazilian that seems to happen increasingly these days

Anyway, the commentators here were actually congratulating Gary Neville as before the game he was saying he's never scored in an England shirt :D

Next Sky Spots may come up with the Headlines that Theo Walcott , our new Maradona, but guess what just Owen and Rooney he would be finished in 3 season and its simple as that

Funny you should say as i watched the U-21s on Tuesday. Walcott is still only 17 but it only took him 10 minutes to destroy Germany  funny too how you think Rooney is finished at 20 years of age :dielaugh: you really are clueless mate.

hahahahaha!!!! I enjoyed every moment of this NEW ENGLISH EMBARASSMENT!!

unfortunately for you Croatia have to play us again in the group ;)

I actually put 80% of the blame for the goal on the ref. of the game and 20% on Neville who should not have back-passed between the posts.

I remember I used to see much more often when the refs were checking the paint lines and spots on the pitch before the game. Maybe it was then ... and there ... weher the quality of the football pitches was not great.
But you can say the same thing about Zagreb's pitch. The ref. and the football stadium officials should be ashamed for the quality of "this painting".
The divot was there and noone saw it. The ref. should have checked the lines before the games and fixed the problem.

I actually do no like and do not support England (or other British national teams), but I think Robinson played well and should not be blamed AT ALL.
Zagreb ought to be ashamed for this goal. Good win anyway, but it would be much much "cleaner" with 1-0.

I dont think the ref could have stopped it mate, the lump was made by Pletikosa in the first half to launch his goal kicks. Its just a fluke event, i remember one Collymore scored a few years ago when the keeper knelt down to pick up a rolling ball and it bounced right over him  :D

@ Stezagud... that GK was Tim Flowers...

@ mzk57... the Lampard you praised so much was playin' one of the worst games ever... totally ineffective considerin' that he had no defensive job with Parker cleanin' up his mistakes & Carrick supplyin' the passes from deep... he was given the limelight & the task of shinin' in the absence of Gerrard... yet all he did was made a mockery of himself...

yes true, only England ever underestimates the opposition  You mention Italy, did you complain about them sending out a reserve side to face you a few months ago?

The fact is Maclaren said from the start this was the hardest tie and he actually changed his tactics to a defensive 5-3-2, sending out 5 defenders and 2 defensive minded midfielders (Carrick and Parker) Does this sound like we underestimated you? if anything we were TOO cautious, we only had 3 attacking players on the pitch!

And yet it was Gerrard who was missing through suspension (harsh decision too) while we lost, Frank lampard was on the field for the full 90 minutes. If Maclaren has to choose between them for the attacking midfield role - which for the sake of balancing the side looks increasingly likely - then it is Gerrard who most would like to see given the job.

Maclaren would have picked Hargreaves, Joe Cole and Andy Johnson but they were all injured, unless your suggesting we send them out on crutches

As for the rest, Robinson has done nothing wrong and only an idiot would blame him for the fluke goal. The back four of Neville, Rio, Terry and Cole is fine and has consistently been amongst the strongest in the world. No need to change them at all.

Nolan is good but too similar to Lampard and Gerrard, there is only room for 1 central attacking player imho. The midfield 4 should be Lennon, Joe Cole, Gerrard and Hargreaves, but unfortunately they are all injured or suspended !

Up front Rooney is getting better by the game and will soon be back to his best, he got 2 assists and hit the bar yesterday which isnt too bad for a guy in bad form, if he had been greedier he could have scored himself too but he chose to pass to Solskjaer, which is to his credit as it shows he is more interested in the team winning than media (and foolish fans) hype about him 'needing' a goal ;)

Johnson has pace to burn and deserves a real chance but got injured, Crouch has been scoring for fun and terrifies most defences. Of those 2 it is down to the oppostion as to who we should play.

U can't expect to win away from home if u play 7 defensive minded players with a very rare formation of 5-3-2 ;)
Lets get it straight
Lampard is an attacking box 2 box player who can defend
Gerrard is a defensive minded box 2 box player who can attack

So they both can play in 1 team without interfaring each other like Seedorf and Kaka :whie: but u need a MAN like Cappello, Ancellotti or Jose not a COWARD like Steve Maclearen ;) to handle things

But for me and the best coach of the world Jose :p283: its always Franky ahead of Steve-G ;) Doesnt matter what a coward like Banetez or LUCKYpool :5milan: fans think :bri:

i know, i made that point a few days ago ;) unfortunately though Gerrard was suspended which put the pressure on Lampard to perform and the simple fact is he didnt. He hit a few weak long range shots but lacks Gerrards driving running ability.

Lets get it straight
Lampard is an attacking box 2 box player who can defend
Gerrard is a defensive minded box 2 box player who can attack

you're right about Lampard to a degree though he does his best work for chelsea when he is protected and doesnt have to defend. gerrard however is more than a defensively minded player, liverpool have succesfully used him as a right winger, old fashioned inside right, and as support striker. he is primarily an attack minded player but is so good defensively too that when he plays a defensive role people just think thats his natural role

its hard to draw comparisons with other players because there really arent many who can do both jobs so well, how many 'defensively minded' players scored 23 goals last year? not many...

Hey MZK57... I have no beef with you and I do appreciate your attempt to join us in debating the merits or lack thereof of Premere League teams. Unfortunately your antics is problematic. Now there are MANY teams I dont care for, yet a level of respect should be present when in discourse with members here for which you have yet to give. We have members here in MilanMania who support these rival teams and many more who support English teams too. Now most of these members dont trash Milan when posting messages here in the manner you do towards the clubs they support. You are standing out to becoming an annoyance and indeed having the potential for your expulsion here. Now many folks here have been respectful to you. I highly recommend that you try to do the same.

to be serious England has super strong squad, but with that attitute they will never become champions. McLaren talked to some Croatian trainers ( I think it was Prosinečki ) night before the game and said england only things about their own game. Not about the opponents. Well, that is completely wrong! And in the field it does look that way. With players like Lampard, Gerard in the middle, and Beckham( or whoever ) and J.Cole on the flanks, and so on...Terry, rio, Cole, Rooney....they can beat any team in the world. But they need to play SMART. And they are playing like they have never heard about tactical variations. How is it possible that England plays at home against Macedonia and lately in the game when its still 0-0 they dont change a single tactical variation in their game? You cant play 150 long balls to Crouch and expect to win against well organized teams like Croatia or not to talk about, for example Italy.
england needs smart manager who will explain to them that it doesnt matter who invented football, but how do you play it TODAY. And they things will go forward.

Well thats bcoz he is the only talented player in LUCKYpool and there weren't any any natural finishers there :zany: . Plus scoring mostly against West Ham, Wigan, Portsmouth, Birmingham etc is not of much value compared to some one who was the highest goal scorer 3 sesons in a row in a much more high standard team and in the presence of much much more highly talented palyers like Crespo, Drogba, Gudjohnsen, Hasselbaink, Robben, Mutu, Duff etc  comp[ared to Peter Crouch, Fowler and Cisse :uhm:

england only things about their own game. Not about the opponents.

I think you've read that all wrong and how it is actually meant. That's not being arrogant at all and it's a way of thinking that the majority of teams, coaches and players adopt at times. Because Mclaren has apparently said this, it doesn't mean that no thought or studying of the Croatian team wasn't undertaken. It doesn't mean they didn't watch tapes of the opposition, it doesn't mean they didn't have meetings about the Croatian players and the best ways to counter act them (even if it didn't do much good). All he's alleged to have said according to you is that he's put his team first and it's not good worrying about the other team when you can't change how they prepare.

If this is one of the reasons you think England are arrogant then you need to wake up and stop acting like a fool. Especially if you and anyone else buys the rubbish the English media spouts. If you can't seperate the media from the team then there's no hope for reasoned arguments from people like you.

mrki i am from England, have a look at where it says i'm from in my profile. It says England.

I'm sorry for calling you a fool, but i don't see any other way of describing what you've done. What would you call me if i told you i believed everything i read in the media about the hooligans of Croatian football? You'd call me an idiot for believing such nonsense. This is the same situation. You've believed everything you've read in the papers and in the media and you automatically associate it with the team, this is wrong.

How often do Milan players and coaches say "We will concentrate on ourselves and not worry about our opponents"? They say things of this nature all the time. Do you assume that we (Milan) are arrogant then? You must do for you believe it when the same things are associated with England.

What you believe about England on the pitch and how the English players play in matches is something different. But please don't be foolish enough to believe that what the papers says about England must be true.

I'm sick of defending my country from people like you and others who can't disassociate the media from the team.

Dr. Milano, i don't need to make my comments on England's performance as Steza has shot down all the so called points against us here quite successfully.
