View Full Version : What players Milan should buy in January?
What are the players who could arrive to Milan in 2/3 month? Not in dream but really.

I thought this was about "realistic" targets? If so, you can forget about signing expensive and/or cup-tied players like most of the above.
Depending on Serginho's condition, Marcelo is the only one who seems realistic and this is provided that we can still sign a non-EU player this season. Other than that, Oddo could be a possibility too but that's only if Cafu gets injured and the price is right.
As for the midfield, bar any serious injuries to Kaka, Pirlo, Gattuso, Seedorf, I wouldn't expect any additions, let alone famous players.
Same goes for the attack, I think. Unless one of the three main strikers gets seriously injured, it would stay as it is.
I agree.
I was hoping that I could go for Buffon this January. Now that Dida is back :proud:, we probably don't need a Serie-B player. :D
We need to reinforce the LB position if possible, but not at all cost. Janku is decent, he just somehow concerns me. I must admit that I still have doubt in him. Serginho is fantastic, but he is not getting any younger. I prefer Kaladze at the center.

Why Milan doesn't spend money for good players? Canavarro, Ronaldo, Ronaldhino, Gallas, Zambrotta are not realistic targets, but Ribery, Adibal, MArquez, Mexes, Chivu, Huntelaar, are, I hope again realistic targets for Milan. No?

all of those "realistic" players you mentioned would be good additions but each one of them would cost a lot and, apart from MAYBE Ribery, they would all be unable to play for Milan in CL.
My take on those:
Ribery - with his price at 20+ mil, given that we have Gorky and Kaka, I am not sure there is much reason in Milan getting him as well.
Abidal - one of my personal favourites for a solid LB, a good alternative to Zambrotta, but he is cup-tied and would cost us more than 10 mil, not an attractive combination of factors. Maybe next summer but not this January
Marquez - good option for a CD and CM but is cup-tied, would cost a lot and it's unlikely that Barca would be willing to let him go.
Mexes - seems to be a good choise for the future although I don't see him becoming anything more than a good defender, stable most of the time but prone to quite silly mistakes IMO and he is no longer 18 yo to use his age as an excuse. Plus he would be expensive and cup-tied, again not a winning combo for us.
Chivu - when fit, he shows that he can be a great player one day, or maybe he already is but he's prone to injuries and that seems to have cooled down Milan's interest in him since buying him would require a financial sacrifice from the club. Cup-tied as well, so no good for a winter signing.
Huntelaar - definitely one for the near future, I think, but with Gila and Pippo here, isn't an immediate necessity. Maybe next year, but not in the summer - expensive and cup-tied.
All in all, unless a fundamental player gets unjured, I wouldn't expect any major signings for the winter - mostly just fix a hole or two here and their but that would be mostly done by attracting "squad" players, not big names.

I dont think there is available and cheep player that can help us, we dont need anybody, our fund of players is ok but they need some improvements, a better tactics from Carlo definetely.

We dont need to sign anyone in January except a creative midfielder and a more attacking RB as backup to Cafu. Oddo would be realistic and maybe trezeguet as well because theyre not cup tied. Buffon is a luxury and not a neccesasity. Its not a good idea to buy cup tied players. If we buy Ribery then we have to change the way we play.

You are right. What are our opposents? Chelsea, Barça, Inter, Lyon? Now Lille, PArma and other smalls squads. Have you see the games against Lille?I'm not sure that we don't need quickly good players.

C'est just mon opinion. L'avenir nous dira qui à raison

I don't think we need to sign anyone in January at this point, though I won't be completely against, but most importantly we need to get strikers in form
We all understand you in English, PYL, and probably we won't understand you in French.
I am a mod and have the responsbiility to check all posts in transfer. There is also NO PROBLEM asking who Milan should buy in Janurary; it's only that raising such topic after just 2 games (with 2 0-0 draws) and this thing comes up. This will definitely irritates many people here, and it's unlikely to yield constructive argument.
Finally, I dno't know where you have come to the conclusion that Milan cannot comepte with Lille. Seriously, unless you come up with a constructive reason, I doubt if people will quickly agree with you.

hunelaar, but in summer window because he can't play in CL this season!
i think we need one brand new right back- alves!one very good center back.a left back isn't so necesary because jankulovski is not so bad and old!but there is one good and young-marcelo!
we need one good defensive midfielder and...buffon

Jeff. I repeat I'm fan of Milan; Really, since the begeinning of the season, do you think that we have the best team in the world? Do you think that we are bester the Barça, Munich, Chelsea, Lyon? Is normal the 2 0/0 against small squads? Against Lille one goal was refused. Ok but at the end it's 0/0. Lille have has some chances to make a goal. HAve you see the match? I was to Bolaert...It's was not a demonstration of our team. We don't have played against Lyon or Barça or Munich or Chelsea...
I bet 3 games after the january transfer window closes, you'll open a thread about who we need to buy in the summer pyl.
Maybe you didn't notice the endless threads opening throughout the summer transfer window and the repitition in each of them, but for most of us it was tough getting through them. Even for the members who participated in these threads, it was always the same! Now we just want a break, so how about you respect my liberties and be a little patient with transfer talk.
Talk about formations, talk about tactics, talk about players WE HAVE. Lets not talk about players who you think we should buy after 6 games of the season! That's just ridiculous.
Ridiculous? Who are you to spoke like that? I'm sad to see that Milan doens't buy great players this summer cause of italian calcio problem ans I feel that was a good descision. Now we have money of Sheva sell and we have money by the Champion League. I think ti's normal that Milan think to buy great players. Now if you are not agree with this post don't participe to it!!!
You seem to be missing the point, talking about wanting new faces and new players now is like a child being bored with his presents on Christmas Day and already wants new ones!
No one is talking about not buying good players, most of us are just saying wait at least a few months before opening a discussion on improving the squad. Just wait until nearer the January transfer window before launching your shopping list of which players you want at the club. Give the team a chance to play some matches, a good few months so you can see what excatly we do need.
Is that so much to ask? Is it so much to comprehend?
Why do you write again at his post??? I ok to your position but it's not the mine.
I think pyl is right we need another 1 or 2 players to make a team that can fight with chelsea or barcelona or arsenal and its ok to point any problems that Milan has as a team
But also i think that its too early to talk about transfers now
players can get injured till january
look what hapened to etoo
Lets give some of our youngsters who played in the victorious TIM Trophy a chance to play. It's no point saying this player from our youths or this one is gonna be great, coz they'll bever be when all fans want is to sign as many players as inert sign.
You are right Tony 29

Daniel Alves/Miguel They both are good defenders and more importantly they play on the right side. Miguel fits in the best because he is good at attacking and making those quick runs.

i notice that huntelaar hasn't scored a lot of goals lately. he seems to be really good a few months ago. anyone know what happened to him?
I know that this might never happen........but I have been more and more impressed by De Rossi as each game passes by. I know that it is no surprize, he was always expected to become a great player but when we discuss players that Milan should maybe look to sign, he is I think one of them. I know that it would take a lot to make him come to Milan expecially with Roma up and running again. He is a great player however. I don't know how many of you saw Valencia-Roma yesterday. I've actually seen Roma play a few times this season and have to admit that De Rossi is their block in the middle. He is really tough and great in defence and really calm on the ball at the same time. He would also fit in great in our line-up!

Agent: AC Milan eyeing Chievo's Mandelli
tribalfooball.com - September 29, 2006
The agent of Chievo Verona defender Davide Mandelli has revealed interest from AC Milan.
Adriano Rebuffi said: "Mandelli has often been the subject of enquiries from Milan, but for now he will remain in Verona.
"He has a contract at Chievo until 2009."

i guess am happy with the squad but the question is.. is carlo happy? or is berlu happy?
i guess a nesta and kaladze combo is awsome
and cafu and yanko are ok (only if cafu dosnt get injured)
pirlo and gattuso are world cup champs
Kaka - nothing need to be said
gourcuff - Milan's best sig this summer (worried about his injury though)
seedorf - well carlo said hes slow, i think hes right.
Inzaghi - super pippo
Gila - glad he signed till 2011
Olivera - not impressed yet.
so everthing is fine expct:
Olivera - dosnt know hot to score
Seedorf - SLOW!!
cafu- hope dosnt get injured
so if these players dont get it right by januray we could get:-
ribry
marcelo
dont know who for seedorf
but its too early to say...anywayz
It was in the news today (goal dot com i think) that Calderon wants to keep Beckham in RM until the end of his career. Since mr. Beckham said that he'll retire in three years and his contract expires soon I think we should get him!
If his contract expires next summer I'm sure we can persvade him to join for free or maybe get him in January.
I would like him in Milano, so we can magically transform him into a RB! :3band:
It's not such a bad idea!
Tas put the baby down, hand over the gun and just walk away. :eekani:
Please for the sake of Milan
We dont need that over rated circus ;)
I don't think we could afford him, his wage is probably half our budget..
We're a poor club..and even if we weren't he'd never come cuz Victoria wouldn't let him..even if he wanted to come..she likes the sunny Madrid too much..what is it with todays footballers, their wifes pick where they'll play..isnt that just pure nonsence..

i think beckham before he decide r.madrid he was very, very close to be a milan player.Beckham was very impressed from berlusconis offer! As i know berlusconi offered him a very good contract,a super-house and a super-car!A tv-chanel to his wife victoria to do it everything she wants! And beckham to wear the number 7(berlusconi had offered very much to sheva for the possibility if beckham come to ac milan the number 7 to go to beckham.Sheva accepted the offer and everyone was waiting beckham.........but he finaly choose r.madrid.

I don't know, he's too young to join us. I think he needs some more experience first :D
On a serious note, I don't like the player at all but imagine the immedeate revenue from the jerseys! I'm not sure but I think Real Madrid sold enough jerseys in 1 week to cover the entire transfer fee. But I'm really just wasting my time typing this because he will never come anyways
Buy beckham for what
to keep him on the bench?
He is way too overrated
Beckham for right-back Tas? Are you serious?
I can't see how that would work, he's not very good at tackling and has no pace.

yup true ...... plus hes like 33 and english players - making impact in serie a
Ahem .... excuse me looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
FAT CHANCE
Ehm, you are right Jim, I was wrong I admit it. He would never work @ RB, but appreciate my that he is a really good crosser of the ball and thats why i thought he might be good there.
But now, it has dawned on me that ever since he went to RM he's not a shadow of his former self. Well, what dawned on me is why is that. Because, he is essentially a RM playmaker. A kind of playmaker like Pirlo is. It is cumbersome to play your playmaker at RM. Thus no coaches (and there've been plenty at Madrid) newer really got to build the squad around him. And that's what Madrid should've done. Or he could've came to Milan. We'd have Pirlo and Backham ....
Maybe there are 2-3 years more in him,... maybe we *could* still use him. The question would be, who would he cick out of the first team then...and there is no easy answer ;)
Gascoigne, Ince, Walker, Platt had successful periods in Italy. Not in terms of winning trophies, i mean they played well for their clubs.
I can see why someone would think he'd be a good RB, so i hope you don't think i was being hard on you or anything Tas. Not at all. Different ideas and ways of thinking should always be commeded :)
we should buy referee, or at least buy Eye Medicine for them, and we won't have to buy anyone x(

Milan should sell Gilardino to Juve for Trezeguet... a Serie B quality striker in exchange for a Serie A/CL quality striker...
Beckham is in a way the most underrated player, in terms of credit that people give him for his game, in the world in the past two or three years. He is a talanted playmaker and its pitfull no coach noticed that. That's about as much as I have to say about him..
Jim..why, tell me, would I think that? .. :)
Yes... To early to speak about news played that we need... All it's good at Milan... Milan 0-Siena 0....
Beckham is underated? I haven't ever seen any English player who is underated:D. Beckham was rated the best midfielder several years ago, but now, he can't have that form, just like Fat Ronaldo.

Young goalkeeper contracted to Arsenal but plays for my local team Barnsley Fc he is Called Vito Mannone he played for Atalanta before being sold to arsenal. you may have heard of him. Great shot stopper but has one bad side loses concentration easily and dropped a catch in the 94th minute easy tap in for a luton player i felt bad for him hes only 18 and he just stood there and cryed. bit like Dida but younger!
so as you said, Vito Mannone has great response like Dida but he sometimes has funny scenes like Dida too? If it's true, I will like to see him playing in Milan very much:D.
Beckham is in a way the most underrated player, in terms of credit that people give him for his game, in the world in the past two or three years. He is a talanted playmaker and its pitfull no coach noticed that. That's about as much as I have to say about him..
Jim..why, tell me, would I think that? .. :)
Because he isnt the player you seem to think he is. I mean every European Championship or worldcup they said he is going to lead us to victory blah blah blah. When the real worlds best footballers like Zidane, Figo, Rui etc would tyrn it on Beckham was always extremely poor. He never had a good tournament. The guy is a joke and even Mclaren sees that.
When you have a player who has one tool in his locker (a chipped pass) which he uses for his freekicks and his crosses and then he suddenly wants to become Zidane in the centre of the pitch and no longer has that tool (as a result of no longer being on the wing where crosses are made) then the player himself is a tool :ilol:
Beckham did the one thing he never should have. He believed the hype!!
Kaka1899
01-10-2006, 11:45
yes he loses concentration like Dida against Inter in the Derby last year remember when Martins scored. Mannone jumped to catch the ball with no pressure and it went straight in between his hands and the striker ran round him and tapped it in but about 20 minutes previous he had a one on one situation and stood up to the striker and tipped it round post one handed. he is going to be a great keeper.

but Beckham was pretty smart or rather his wife to be honest... havin' officially stated he would give up his captain's armband... before he was actually stripped of that role & completely axed from the team... a great cover for his ass for sure... lucky he has a rather wise wife...
Yeah he was smart for realising hes not as good as he thought, ten years too late, but hey better late than never.
Zz']Milan should sell Gilardino to Juve for Trezeguet... a Serie B quality striker in exchange for a Serie A/CL quality striker...
Ehhh,
and what makes you think Juve will sell him ? I think after the transfer window it became obvious Juve won't sell to Milan.
Another thing is that Deschamps is Trezeguet's idol. His captain when Trez was starting his NT career, and perhaps the main thing that stopped Trez from leaving Juve this summer.
Another player who was mentioned in previous posts, and who'll be hard to get for Milan is Ribery.
Deschamps promised he'll bring Ribery, Huntelaar and some french youngster in January or June, and he allready had talks with Marselle officials about Ribery. As you know,Deschamps is Marselle's legend, and he led Marselle winning the CL in 1993. He's very influental in Marselle, and i do believe him when he says he'll bring Ribery.
As for Huntelaar, i don't understand Deschamps' optimism when he says Huntelaar will also join Juve.
Of course, everything depends on Juve managing to win a Serie A spot next year, but after watching Juve's last matches, i'm 100% sure Serie B will be a walk in the park
zZ[-_-]Zz
01-10-2006, 14:18
i don't think Juve would sell Trez... my point was that Gilardino would be better off playin' in another team...
I can't see Ribery joining in January, not while Marseille are fighting for the title. He'll want to stay to try and wrestle the league 1 crown away from Lyon.
It would be hard for Milan to get Ribery, but likewise it'll be hard for Juve to get Huntelaar, as both of these players have stated that ex players for each team are their personal heroes. But it doesn't mean it's impossible, sometimes these deals just don't work out.
For me, i'd like to see Milan get Oddo, Elano & Marcelo in January, with the last one being loaned out until the summer to get him used to Serie A. He'd hardly have any playing time with 3 other left-backs ahead of him.
Agreed. We need some good, FAST, offensive minded wing backs---preferably at right back. Another good addtion would be someone who can fill Kaka's shoes. I think he's playing too many games now and with Gourcuff primarily filling in for Seeforf at LM, we need another quality playmaker.
We need to find a young Italian that can fill in for Kaka. I guess letting Foggia go to Lazio was a mistake after all. We also need a right back with attacking skills. Like Jim said, Oddo. I don't think he'll come however. Expecially after his statements saying that if a club really wants you, they'll find a way........reffering to Milan. I read that on Channel4 a couple weeks ago.
if milan strickers don't begin to score, milan should buy one very good world class stricker and GOALSCORER!!!-toni,trezeguet...and that are all...

well, maybe it's about freaking time to change something????? :nunu:
Ribery would bring some more anger into the field, that would wake others, give them some stimulation.
Ribery is a good replacement for Zizou, why not having one here,at San Siro??
also would be great to buy Pele. :3band:
WHy the hell would we want Ribery, Milan would have to change the way they play
Currently, Marseille play a 4-3-3/4-5-1 formation depending on how you look at it. Their midfield and forward players line up like this.
----------------------Striker-----------------------
-Winger--------------------------------------Nasri-
---------Ribery---------------------Midfielder-------
--------------------Anchorman---------------------
I don't know all their names, but that is how they've been lining up lately. With Ribery playing an inside left role he could easily slot into Seedorf's position without alot of fuss.
This would give us a more attacking midfield for certain games. Ribery could also play in Kaka's position when he needs to be rested or off of the striker when we want to keep things a little more tight.
I think what is evident now more than ever is that we need a player with genuine pace, whether that's a striker, 2nd striker, attacking midfielder or normal midfielder.
I guess it's all hypothetical anyway as i don't believe he'll come to us.

Milan great problemisn´t a lack of goal scorer, but the lack of a support striker...What makes Sheva amazing was that we had both in the same player.
If we have a player like Robinho or Nilmar(just for example), our attack would be functioning better...IMO, our problem right now, is the same of my Brazil NT in the WC. Brazil had Ronaldo an Adriano in the attack, and the team had no moviment in the ofense. Milan preoblem is that Gila and Pippo can´t create his own shot on a regular bases, and is very easy to mark them(as a pair).
Ronaldo and Adriano can create his own shot, but in the WC they are so fat and out of form, that our attack was static.
If some of you guys had watched Brazil to play in the WC, had been able to see the change in the team game, when Robinho come in for Ronaldo or Adriano. Robinho(or a support striker) is what our Center fowards(and team) more need right now!!!
@ Jim! I agree with what you said about Ribery and how he is used, but, I would remind you that we seem to have Gourcuff that does just what you described ;)
@ Brasiliero: yes, you are righ, even Croatia marked Ronaldo and Adriano really really well.
I think one of our strikers (Gila) should be used exclusively as a target man. Kindof like Drogba is being used as I dont see why Gila couldn't do that.
Ona a final note,.. people, you really don't like Beckham, do you? :) I think his wife is just adorable ..... :5att: I might be overrating him, but, isnt the Pirlo hype all about 'he cut open the opponents defense with his silky running and percise passes'? And doesn't Beckham seem to have both of those?..
Maybe a classig winger like Beckham is a thing of the past..nowdays there are a lot of attacking full backs (but its hard for Milan to find a decent sub for Cafu) and a lot of attackers/wingers like Guily or Reyes. Or am I wrong?:p

Milan should buy:
*J.Saviola
*C.Pizarro
* & Messi!!
:3band:
I think the only player we might make a play for in the January transfer market is Oddo. The only quality fwds out there who are not cup-tied are Trezeguet and Toni, both of whom can be of great help to us, but I can't see either Juve or Fiorentina letting them go. Abidal, ribery, daniel alves, and all the other names listed above won't be available till summer. Maybe it's too early to mention players for next summer but I believe ronaldinho is and will remain the main objective. Higuain, the playmake of river plate seems very talented and calciomercato (not always most reliable) is saying we are already tracking him. As for other transfer possibilities, I like Barzagli, a good young Italian defender, abidal is also good, but he looks like a target for the english teams, and maybe for sentimental value, a pu%^y-whipped ungrateful aging Ukrainian striker.
I think we should also pick up an attacking midfielder.. we are rather thin in that department. A RB and a midfielder.. and we should be ok till the summer.
Tas....Beckham is nowhere near Pirlo's elegancy in center midfield. Beckham has always been a wide player. He is nowhere near Pirlo's quality and awareness in the middle of the field. Second....if you notice Beckham's long balls, they are mostly switching of field and putting the ball into space. I have to admit that he is great at that. However, Pirlo's long passes aren't swithing of field but pure vision and finding the players through a lot of trafic. It is the vision that separates him from the pack. He seems to see the entire field in front of him at all times. The fact here is......Beckham can't be compared to Pirlo's qualities. Besides, the englishmen has been looking worse and worse as time passes by. Completly inconsistent.
I dont know if Oddo is a viable solution anymore. We should have signed him two years ago or at the latest last year. No point signing him at 31 or 32. How many years would he be able to give us at RB at that age? I say go for someone younger who could give us long term stability in the position.
As for the Kaka sub. We should go for a young prospect, like Gourcuff, who doesnt mind being on the bench for some games and can learn a lot from Kaka. If we go for an established star, i.e. Robinho, there will definitely be problems when one of the two has to sit out games.

Well If Ribery can play a centralised roll, then sure but then we've got to beat Juventus Aresenal and United to him. I am starting to cast doubts over our available strikers. Why? because football is about taking your chances and they havent. Weve only scored a handful of goals this season and 2 of them were penalties. I dont care what people say about Oliveira or Gilardino anymore I'd rather go for an established or World Class striker like Trezeguet or Fernando "The Cheat" Torres. Unless of course they can prove me wrong.

leave the current players out of this.......
beckham is not a good player.....he would never work.......
the only player i could think of is either toni or del piero..........but del piero is too loyal to juve.......
one vote for Robinho, but we don't even have any rumour about him. And I'd rather have another real madrid's player - Cassano. He's really good. And he can get along well with both Pippo and Gilardino in national team. But the rumour about him passed 5 months ago:D.

Beckham is not a classic winger... a classic winger can dribble & get pass players & deliver a quality cross... Beckham can only play a cross when the ball is basically stationary & has ample time & space to do so...

Yes Cassano is good. Or Robinho
There will never be another midfielder who had so much dominating play (and headbutt) as Zizou, but Ribery can damn well try
Ribery would do fantastic in Seedorf role, as he can cope well with Kaka' using his speed. But what we need is ( except for fast midfielder), a RWB, someone for half of a season, like Oddo. then the summer will come and we will be linked with everyone starting with Ronaldinmho, than of course Torres, then Ronaldo, Tevez.....:)

Says Triabal football.com: "AC Milan chiefs are preparing a January move for Dynamo Kiev striker Artem Milevsky.
The youngster has been likened to former Milan hero Andriy Shevchenko and Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani is seriously considering a January bid for the forward with Carlo Ancelotti's strike-force struggling to find the back of the net.
Milevsky is aware of Milan's interest and that plans to take him to the San Siro could be brought forward because of their scoring crisis"
I dont know how reliable this source is but for some reason eastern Europe players seem to settle well in Italian football. Isnt he a midfielder though?
Milevsky is a striker. Not good enough for Milan.

Maybe we should wait a while and see before the intrest is official. He is probably on a shortlist of alternatives, like Nani, Oddo, Marcelo etc
My question is this? Lets say Milan are after Milevskiy, he is cup tied, so why go for him? Surely, if it is irrelevant to management wheter a player is champions cup tied or not, they can go for a better and more established player like Huntelaar or Fred for example. Those players are just examples btw, and theyre not neccesarily my personal chioce.
mrki, i think everyone will be linked with Tevez & Mascherano in January :D
Apparently Pardew has threatened to quit if the club is taken over and the lack of a take over may see the two Argentinians sold in double quick time. However, Tevez has said that he wants to stay and help West Ham ... where have we heard that before?? :haha:

I think Milevsky is a official rumour since it has been posted on eurosports too. I don't mind seeing him in Milan because he's very cheap and I think he won't be bothered to stay on the bench.

i am sure if we still do not score more goal then the management will buy another stricker..If not i dont see there is any necessary.
Eurosport is as bad as a tribalfootball.com for rumours. even it's coverage is crap.
Latest: Ancelotti is not convinced with Bonera and wants another defender, which is good as we do need another one. But we also need new RB, and that is something no one is talking about. We are also in for this "new Sheva", but this guy ( I saw him ), is not that good and could only be real backup in Milan. The Argentine striker/AM, I cant remember his name, is only 18 and is wanted by Milan , Inter and Barca ( of Course....). Now, if we ccould get this guy from River, who is fast and can add real pace in our midfield, and maybe a RB, we are more than fine.
About summer......im pretty convinced we will go for real for Ronaldinho, as we have all the things we need to get him. His brother is now in non-stop contact with Milan, over the "Oliveira" issue :). Ronaldinho hasnt yet signed new contract with Barca, and this really looks like something is going on. Dida will leave us 90%, and Amelia or even Gigi will be our new GK.

Is the River Plate striker you're talking about Gonzalo Higuain?
As for Ronaldinho, didn't he sign a two-year contract extension last year that takes him to 2010 with Barca?
Yes it's him.. he's the only Argentine I know we're linked with. Besides... Mrki I do believe he was referring to Bonera as a RB..not a CB.

I read that both Milan teams are linked to him, but Im not too high on this guy. He isnt a bad player, just seriously overrated. And who said he is the New Sheva? Thats a good one!! :rotfl:
The best striker in Argentina (league) plays for Boca Juniors and his name is Rodrigo Palacio. He would be an excellent compliment to either Gila, Pippo or Ricardo Oliveira.
And IMO Huntelaar >> Klose as far as future transfers is concerned. Obviously that is if I have to pick between them...
Where's Pa7uel when you need him? :D
FYI, Joan Laporta, president of Barca will be at the game... he's in ARG looking at Gago (DM) and Palacio (ST) of Boca... and Ustari (GK)
GilAttack [11]
04-10-2006, 18:31
I suggested Ustari a long time ago, he would be a fine replacement for Dida.
And if River lost some points in the last couple of games is because the NEW SHEVA couldnt score on some easy opportunities.
And dont forget that MSI bought 50% of him....in other words, he is another Roman/Kia guy.
Palacio >> Higuain
Gago and Ustari would be fine, also.
I haven't seen Higuain playing, so I can't say anything. But about Huntelaar and Klose. I don't think we should have them while we have Gilardino and Inzaghi. Maybe Huntelaar will be a good prospect after Inzaghi retires.

I agree with you!Cavenaghi is a fantastic striker!
It's not just about the goals.. it's about the striker's style of play. Although Klose is a proven goal scorer.. we need more of a support striker than an out and out finisher. A Cassano-esque striker.

Gago is doing wonders in Boca but I cant see where he can fit in Milan, and Milan isnt a team that buys alot of Argentinians for some reason (can only remember Dunga,Crespo off the top of my head). I wonder if he could replace Gattuso? or will he and Pirlo collide too much?
I know Marcelo is good and could be a great according to our Milanmania Brazilian contingent (sp). He could be bought as an LB and seems to be valued for only 2m! For the striker role, I always wanted Cassano but maybe it'll be hard to take him away from Capello. The closest player to Cassano in style is Palacio, and if anyone has seen the Boca 3-2 Velez game a few days ago, you will understand how good this kid is.
Sneijder good be bought as a sub. for Kaka and while Gourcuff can take the midfield positions, in particular Seedorf's spot.
Gago is great, but he would fit better in Barcelona replacing Edmilson...
Milan is covered for a few years with Pirlo and Gattuso...
Palacio would be a good #7 shirt for Milan...
does anybody know what the deal is with the little tail of hair he has grown from the side of his head?

The reliability of tribal is certainly questionable but what they do is simply translate what appears in the latin american, spanish and italian press. So, you should always look for quotes in tribal for it to be reliable. The other important thing that you should look for is the citations in tribal. Sometimes the cited sources are extremely reliable like gazzetta. The only good thing about tribal is that they are the first ones with news.
Some of the reliable sources would be GAZZETTA (www.goal.com and www.tgcom.it which are connected to Milan directly. Goal being our digital media manager and tgcom being of Mediaset (Berlu) can get some news even before it hits Gazzetta. :1old:
For translation use http://babel.altavista.com .

I firmly believe we will sign Emre if it is true that he wants to leave Newcastle. Emre was always wanted by our management and can be a useful squad player for us. I think he can take Pirlo's role or even Gattuso's. The best thing about him though is that he was an Inter player, and we all know what usually happens when they join Milan. Just look at Vieri and Favalli :P hehe just kidding, I dont think he will end up being as useless as those two.
Another huge disadvantage would be the he would be cup-tied for the rest of the season because I think he has already played for Newcastle in the UEFA cup.
Milan should go for Cassano if the rumours are true that they dont want him and he comes after Robinho,RvN,Ronaldo and Raul! (shiit dint notice they all started with R's). Cassano can be better than Shevchenko.

I can understand why Berlusconi is pushing so hard for ronaldinho. His intentions of buying milan were simply to gain publicity and now as Forza Italia is no more a strong party he wants to start a revolution.
This transition, of course, includes Milan's success internationally and will possibly be complete by the end of next season. So I guess that there is nothing special in this season everything will start with the 2007 summer window.

Capello SOB!!!!
It's gonna be great if we manage to sign both Ronaldinho and Robinho next summer. Robinho could be rotated with Ricardo to support Pippo and Gila......
I thought the idea was to play Ronaldinho as support striker.. that's the only place he'll fit in properly.
If by any any any slim chance Ronaldinho comes to Milan, I really don't see Milan playing with 2 strikers, which of course automatically rules out the possibility of Robinho. I Dinho comes then him and Kaka will have a free role behiind a loan striker therefore forming the x-mass tree formation. Again...it is a long shot of Ronaldinho coming to Milan!

It's almost inevitable that he will join us. Its just a matter of time. Berlu looks so desperate that he might even pay the 120 mn euro clause (which always considered to be gas). We will be riskng hell lot of money by investing in him but he will offer us alot, especially in terms shirt sales and of course there is no question about his talent.
Negative aspects: His current acions show that he is getting indisciplined by spending night with his newly found girlfriend parresant. Also we do not have nike as our kit sponsors which will always cause dispute between the player club and adidas/nike.
Overall I know Berlu is the richest Italian (11 Bn. USD) and do almost anything he wants buy any bloody player in the world but with a price tag of around 60 mn GBP and salary of 12-mn-EU/year every wise man will hitch.
I beleive Berlu will finance this purchase partly through his party because this signing will have more than simply sporting benefit.

This will be the biggest purchase in the history of football.
Although we have a good financial standing we will require some sort of financial backer (either a bank or a supremely rich individual) for this purchase.
Last but not least such sort of a transfer requires him (a big personality) to get his hands in the deal which includes persuading ronaldinho's brother and also Joan Laporta.
Why did he buy Milan?
Why does he want Ronaldinho at Milan? Do we really need such a pricey attacking midfielder?
Why did he bring stars like Papin, Lentini, Savicevic, Desailly, etc ?
This is very personal issue for Berlusconi and is very important for his success and hence he will treat it as if he was shopping for himself.

Amelia makes Milan call
Italian International goalkeeper Marco Amelia has admitted he is dreaming of leaving Livorno for Milan.
“I would be ready to take this big step in my career,” said the Roma youth team product on Tuesday morning.
“It could be an incredible opportunity for me and I know I wouldn’t let such a chance slip through my fingers.”
Milan should find out in the next few days if Nelson Dida, their current No 1, is interested in renewing his contract which is due to expire next June.
If the Brazilian goalkeeper decides to leave at the end of the season on a free transfer, then the Rossoneri could sign the 24-year-old as soon as the January transfer window.

I we are unable to sign one of these young and good goalkeepers I suggest we should go for rustu! (Recall: The guy with black paint underneath his eyes esp. during the 2002 WC) He has tremenduous experience and without doubt a perfect Milan material! Although he is 33 he is still very good. In 2007 if Dida leaves we can ask Kalac to go away (his presence would be pointless as we already have coppola and his temperament is too fiery) The good thing is that we won't have to strugle to sign him. He is the second choice GK for Fenerbahce only because Fenebahce wants to develop their new GK.
I don't think Berlusconi will be too concerned about Ronaldinho's price. He will bring that money back in record time. I read that Barca is the most popular team in Asia.....and that is where all the European clubs are targeting their popularity. A few years ago it was Real that was the most famous over there with the purchase of Beckham. Ronaldinho has overshadowed Beckham and Real's poor results have also had an effect on this.....That's why Barca is the most famous and supported team in Asia. They were also on a tour in Asia this summer (correct me if I am wrong about this).
With Ronaldinho's arrival immagine the ticket sales at San Siro.......the TV rights(a lot more stations will be willing to pay a lot more money) because lets face it, the guy is the most famous athlete in the world right now........Milan will also probably become the most famous team in China, Japan, Korea, etc.,.....Shirt sales are going to hit sky high.......Big tours to Asia......and so on and so on!
The income just wont stop for at least 2-3 years. Plus if Milan wins a couple of trophies during this time (which I definately think we will)......We are talking about some big money friends!

Milan should buy Oddo..he is great. He could push up the average amount of goals scored by Milan :)
If we really want to have a super team a KEY TO THAT IS TO KEEP KAKA'!! But, even if we do sign Ronaldinho, and I believe the invested money will soon be back, we still need 2,3 players to complete our squad. Maldini, Cafu, Billy, Favalli, Serginho, Dida will all be gone. So not only do we "need" Ronaldinho, we also really need players like Oddo ( still a very good player for our concept if you ask me ), Barzagli or some other CB,and a Gk like Amelia. With Ronaldinho we will not need a striker as we will probably change formation to 4-5-1. And, the best part is, next year Lippi is free!! That would be some deal to get Rooney and Lippi working together!

You are right that Ronaldinho isn't a solution. He isn't a "must buy", and if his arrival means the end of Kaka, then NO THANX! We need to take care of the holes that will "probably" be left by Cafu, Dida, Serginho, Favalli, Costacurta, Maldini( ). It's going to be a tricky situation to replace these players. After the success Lippi has had with Italy there is no way he is going to return to a club. It's like a demotion. those don't sound like Milan policies... I've said before, Berlusconi fortune is NOT, I repeat, it is NOT the same as Milan's finances...
the man is 70 years old... has been in control for many many years... he's not as impulsive as we are...
Rich men know that they shouldn't finance one of their businesses with their own wealth... quite the contrary, his business should contribute to his wealth...
as much as he may want Ronaldinho, if things are not worked out the right way, he will not just BUY him...
SANT, I'm sorry but I disagree with just about every statement you have made. I've been following Milan for 18 years now and from my experience through the Sacchi years, Capello years, Tabarez, Capello part two, Zac, etc....I've come to realize that:
1) Berlusconi's fortune IS Milan's finances. It is the same thing. Our club has been running at a loss for years--especially in the early to mid 90s when we bought just about every high profile player on the planet simply to warm our bench. Berlusconi dug into his own pockets to finance just about every deal. Even more recently, if I'm not mistaken, the Rui Costa, Inzaghi, and even Rivaldo deals were financed mainly by Berlusconi. We are a privately owned club so we are not required to release our finances in detail. Whatever figures we have released, show us barely breaking even (over the last couple of years), but believe me if the PROPER numbers were released, we are most definitely in the red. But then who cares, Papa Berlusconi is looking after us, no? :)
2) Berlusconi IS impulsive---very, very impulsive. Just that over the last couple of years, he has been involved in politics and hasnt had much time for Milan. But his track record of impulsivity is second to none. He has bought so many players simply for the reason that he watched them in a couple of games and liked them. Just go back and see the list of transfers between 1992-1996 and you will see just how trigger happy our president is. It is the same impulsivity that brought us Rivaldo, and the same impulsivity is probably going to bring Ronaldinho next year---although I do agree that we dont really need him.
3) As far as Berlu is concerned, he is so rich that for him, Milan is his hobby, it is his toy, and as Rahul said, it is a reflection of his success and his personality as a winner. Milan is not a business for him and is not a tool for him to make money. As such, he has poured millions into this club, and will continue to do so. This is why we have no one else to be thankful for for all the success this club has achieved and all the grande players that have been brought in. This is why Galliani has come out and said that only Berlusconi is indispensible---very true statement indeed.
4) Regarding Ronaldinho, everything seems to be going in the right direction so far. Barring a catastrophe, I would certainly bet on him joining us at some stage in the near future.

i wouldn't exactly say buyin' Rivaldo was impulsive... because he came in with proven credentials at the highest levels... but that said... i believe what Berlusconi did was tryin' to improve the team in his own way... be it an unnecessary purchase or gettin' a big name... it just happens that some big names that came failed to show the kind of form expected of them...

according to Channel 4, a more reliable source, Amelia was quoted as saying hed want a Milan move, and they could make a move for him in January should Dida not extend his contract by then...
And in other news, Seedorf said Ronaldhino would be welcome at AC milan, and Chivu's agent says he is satying at Roma.
I don't think Berlusconi will be too concerned about Ronaldinho's price. He will bring that money back in record time. I read that Barca is the most popular team in Asia.....
I don't think Barca is the most popular team in Asia. The club that has the bigest amount of fan in Asia is Manchester United as I know. Though Chelsea, Barca's amount are raising and Manchester's amount is dropping, but Manchester still has the biggest number. <And Milan doesn't have many Asian fans like other big clubs>
Ronaldinho is no problem, if we buy some other ones and we don't sell Kaka.
the arival of ronaldinho won't be a problem for kaka!!!they play together in brasil squad very succesfull!!!for selecao kaka is even better in the last games!

Drogba set for Rossoneri switch? Thursday 12 October, 2006
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reports in England suggest that Milan are interested in Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, as their search for Andriy Shevchenko’s replacement continues.
The Rossoneri may exploit a FIFA loophole which could allow them to sign the Ivory Coast captain for as little as £4m, as players can buy their way out of their contracts three years after signing them.
Drogba would therefore only have to match the wages earned in the remaining time, which are believed to be approximately £4m over two seasons.
The Mirror newspaper claims that Milan would have no problem in bringing it into effect, despite few clubs exploiting it thus far.
However the Ivorian striker, who has netted eight goals for Chelsea – outclassing Shevchenko in the process – does not seem keen on moving to Italy.
"Great strikers have joined the club but I am still here to serve the team," said the 28-year-old, referring to Sheva’s £30m summer move.
Drogba was already linked with Milan in August, when it seemed that the swoop for Ricardo Oliveira was destined to fail, but in the end remained at the Stamford Bridge side.
The Ivory Coast captain moved to Chelsea from Marseille for £24m in the summer of 2004 and many thought he would be relegated to the sidelines after the arrival of the Ukrainian star.
I dont like drogba but with 4m it will be a nice deal? wat u think?

Kaka n Ronaldinho can play together at the attacking midfield position. Then we will have maybe only a lone stricker like Inzaghi or Gilardino. Gilardino used to be a lone stricker at parma.
Dida/Amelia
Bonera/Cafu/Simic Nesta Kalazhe/Maldini Janku/Sergino
Pirlo
Gattu/Ambro/Brocchi Seedorf/Gourcruff
Ronaldinho Kaka
Gilardino/Inzaghi
This can be the best if we replace some defender!!

I think Drogba is more realistic because: a) he had a chat with Berlu in a cafe earlier b) Milan can buy him out for 4 million in Jan or free next summer c)Chelsea may be prepared to strike a deal with Milan cause of the Sheva sale d) Milan have not brought any big names this year. I am sure theyd want at least 1 or two big names to increase the image abroad.

Cafu Sponsors Oddo
http://www.goal.com/en-us/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=145756
The Milan full-back believes that the Lazio player is his heir.
Cafu has not yet decided about his future, but once he decides to leave the Rossoneri or even retire, he is sure that there is only one player who can substitute him at Milan.
"It's early to talk about it as we are still at the start of the season.
"In my place I would see well Oddo, he's a player suitable for Milan."
Oddo has been linked for the past seasons with the Rossoneri, but despite the player's will to leave the Biancocelesti for a bigger club, no deal has been reached.

drogba is CF not second striker, the "argentinian" kid is attacking midfielder!
if we get drogba, then drogba will be first team chiose for CF.
if we get ronaldinho too, then ronaldinho will be a SS to drogba on the left, and kaka will play behind them a little on the right!
I've been playing the demo of the new FM :D
and I found it necessary to add a striker and a centre back. We can probably get by until summer without anything else but only if Bonera is worth a starting spot.
Next summer a right back and midfielder should be top priorities.

After watching 2 of Chelskis goalkeepers go down in 1 match it had me realise that they can easily get injured too. Whats going to happen if Dida picks up an injury this term? Surely u cant trust Kalac. Maybe it was an error to loan out copolla he is more decent backup. As Milan going to get Copolla back or Abbiati in January. If not maybe Milan should buy Amelia in January and rotate the 2 , obviously giving Dida more chances until his contract runs out

i think this loan of copolla means that next season,we will buy new goalkeeper(buffon,amelia...) and we will bring back copolla, who will be his substitute!!!
Spanish press speak about Ronaldo to Milan... If he doen't cost lots of money (transfert and salary) I think that would be a ery good new.

Ronaldo would be a bad idea, firstly isnt he cup tied?
Over the jan window i would like our club to get some pre summer deals done like the stam deal... We have to find replacements for Dida, Cafu, Billy, Serghino in the summer, if last summers anything to go by they need to start early! i start xmas shopping at the beginning of the year, so why cant they ! :delol:
Firstly this is a chance to get some young fast players to inject pace or have something different to offer to the side.
Players.. Pre season agreement for Amelia.. Pre season agreement for Barzagli to beat off competition from Juve.. Pay Lazio for Oddo, hes shown hes a really good player so far, just show them the cash! If were still not scoring then a striker is a must, but really i dont think we are going to solve our problems in that window as clubs wont release there best players until the summer.
huntelar is another striker in the inzaghi/gila mold
we need someone else.
my ideal january transfers would be.
Barzagli
Oddo
suazo/ di natale/ south american that has been well scouted(not just a panic buy)/ is saviola playing for barca? maybe look at him.
with Amelia coming in next season.
Is saviola playing for barca? maybe look at him
Yes he is playing for Barcelona this season after one year loan (Sevilla), but i don't think Barca would sell him this january after Eto'o picked and injury and it's going to leave him out of field for 5 months

To be honest, I dont think that Ronaldinho is really a Milan type player. I dont think he d fit well. And anyway he is very expensive. I think we should better buy Nando Torres - he is young, promising, probably casts less and I think he can settle well.

Same goes for the attack, I think. Unless one of the three main strikers gets seriously injured, it would stay as it is.
Are you dreaming here, buddy? Our strikers can't score or even make a meaningful contribution on our attack. Our strikers stink and we need to replace them with someone who can actually find the bottom of the net once in a million years.

With the way we have been playing lately and the overall talent level of this team, it is about to talk about reinforcements. What should our plans be during the winter market? Given how much progress we made during the summer with three and a half months of time to spend on the market and what we did, we should prepare earlier rather than later. I say we should sign at least one new striker and a defender to get through this season and wait to see what happens next summer.
I'll have to merge this thread.

Some rumor that Drogba is 99 % to Milan. Anyone has any information about this?
zlatanov
17-10-2006, 21:59
haven't heard this 99% rumour but latest I have read on this is that FIFA rules allow a player to buy out the remainder of his contract with a club if his current contract is 2 or 3 years old. The buy out sum would have to be equal to the salary the club would have paid the player for the remaining years on his current contract.
This "possibility" has been around for several years now but clubs rarely take advantage of it maybe because they don't wanna ruin relations with other clubs.
If Milan were to follow this path, we could have Ronaldinho for about 12 mil euros, I think and Drogba for 6 mil.

The idea you mentioned about one of our strikers getting injured looks good. May be we might discover something new in Borriello. So I guess the right striker who could get injured would be Oliviera or many be we can send him with Roberto Asis to lure Ronaldinho. :grinser:

I dont follow Chelsea...I dont like this team. About Kaka..yes he is very fast, but only when he wants to be fast. Recently Kaka is very moody.
Stefano Mauri from Lazio would be the perfect transfer this January. He can step in at any position in midfield, expecially Seedorf's. We lack attacking options in the middle and that is really noticable when Pirlo is not on the field. Our game goes down when Pirlo is not playing. Ambro and Brocchi are good players, but they can only step in for Gattuso. If they substitute either Seedorf or Pirlo then our middfield becomes flat with Kaka being the ony big attacking threat. Gourcuff is obviously good, but for the time being he is injured and when he is not, he is the ONLY attacking option in our midfield.
Mauri is not cup-tied and he can really add new dimensions to our middle. He would also not cost much.
Another option would be Barone from Torino.
About the forwards.......it looks like we badly need one at this moment, but there is 2 whole months untill January and any one of our strikers can hit form at any time. The strikers problem seems to be form, so lets wait untill January if we actually need a striker.
Galliani today has however said that Milan won't shop in January, which I don't find surprizing. Milan almost never buys players in January.

Seems an odd rule to be honest.

Would we call him slow if he was still in our jersey? I've heard so many players who enter the EPL say they end up fearign for life and limb out on the pitch b/c of how brutal they play in that leauge. Not finesse, just brutal moves. I think if I were someone like Sheva, I'd lay low a bit and not be a target to their nasty tackles that have broken so many legs.

no, I think it applies to everyone who has had their current contract for 3 years. So if you sign a 4, 5 or even 8 year contract (such as Fabregas has just done) after 3 years you can use this rule. It might even be only 2 years if you are over 28, I'm sure I've read something like that.
the 24 thing, I THINK, means that player has to have his contract improved or matched or else he can opt to leave on free transfer.

as far as i am concerned this speculation of drogba and ronaldino joining milan is nonsense , there are strikers like huntelaar who are young, skillful, extremelytalented and unattached at the moment it is not good for milan to chase shadows. i know for sure that this young lad huntelaar can slove our present problems , i am very disappointed in all of u , we should be serious when we talk about the welfare of milan instead of posting romantic pictures of our selves and speaking in tongues.
re: sheva
personally I think that moving between italy/england/spain should be discouraged once you're beyond your peak. Sheva is still amazing but as a striker at 30 his preformances were going to start dropping. you can't teach an old dog new tricks as they say, he's got to learn a new way of moving, learn to understand his team mates, learn how defenders react (english defenders pride themselves on throwing themselves into sliding tackles where italian ones prefer to try and contain strikers)
it's too much. MAYBE chelsea will get half a season of class from him, but it's no sure thing. After the hype's worn off next year he'll be thrown into the rotation system with all the new signings they'll inevitably make.

We also desperetaley need a specialised RB, not a CB like Stam or Bonera too provide cover. I reccomend Alves, Miguel or Rafinha, which evere one Madrid doesnt go for!

Someone give me a GOOD reason why we should buy Torres. Please. Convince me that he's worth 40 mil euros or whatever his price is.

Papers report that Iaquinta and Oddo are 2 of our targets... well sports.it say that
Milan, subito Iaquinta e Oddo
-----------------------------------------------------------------
well said!! why are we even thinking about new players when we are unbeaten this season and only conceded 2 goals in 8 games!! :dontkn:
Are you always sure that we don't need new players???

I'm sad to see that Milan want Iaquinta and Oddo. They are second players not top players. Lyon players are very very good, this team play a fantatstic football. I think we need to buy Cris and Junihno. More Miguel seems to be the best solution for our right defense. In Attack i hope again Ronaldo...
The team hasn't enough good players! The bench isn't good
and we need good players. We didnt splash the money for the summer transfer period and the field shows the truth!
i dont think we are going to buy any good player at January
but i wish at the new season 2007-2008 to see my Milan
like this...........
----------------------------Buffon----------------------------
--Alves--------------Nesta------Barzagli-------------Abidal--
-----------Gattuso---------Pirlo-----------Ribery------------
---------------------------Kaka-------------------------------
---------------Huntelaar------Torres/Villa---------------------
F.ck its a dream that i dont think it will be true!!!
We don't splash the money like Barca,Chelsea,Real. :kap:
I'm ok with you. I prefer Villa to Torres but Villa play in best team so he's more easier in the light. Waht do you think of Ronaldo?
Last I prefer Malouda to Ribery or a more defensive player.
Great team this one!!!

As i learn barzagli will sign to Juventus.
About ronaldo......yes i like him, but if i had to choose between Huntelaar,Torres,Villa or ronaldo.....no i dont want him!
About malouda and ribery they are great players! Why not sign them together!
But all this to become true Milan must splash the money, otherwise maldini will still play for 10 years as billy,as cafu,as serginho...........and milan will lose again from palermo and other small teams!
SPLASH THE MONEY MR BERLUSCONI
Torres is a 15+ goals a season striker. That's more than enough credentials for me. You can't wait around hoping some unbelievably talented superstar emerges from some obscure team. Sometimes you just need to go for the best option there is.
Just cause Villa plays for Valencia though dosn't mean he should be rated below Torres. Afterall Gila scored 24 two seasons running at Parma and hasn't been able to adapt to the added responsibility of playing in a bigger team. Star players are often allowed to just do whatever they wish at small teams and struggle having to fit into a system. that said, I don't think this is the case with Torres, he plays well for the international team aswell.
Oddo wouldbe a geat solution as that man is seriously underrated just becouise he is not playing for Milan,Juve or inter. Iaquinta plays some good football this season, better than Gila and Pippo but im not sure we need a forward. Our problem is on the flanks and in CM. What we need is Oddo, Serginho's recovery and a fast midfielder ( Gourcuff in first 11, or someone new if they will not let Gorky play)
Ancelotti says we will not buy anyone in January.
Let the mind games begin!
haha, I havent rested properly from summer transfer window, I dont think I can take another one so soon :)

Great!!!
What are the Milan objectfs??? 10th in serie A and 8 finalist in Champion???

Hum... I have forgetten to say that perhaps Ancellotti will be not the coach of Milan in January...
Read my blog about Ronaldo @ goal.com i really think he's the solution

Rosoneri_11....you are providing a good line-up, but that is too many changes in the first 11. That is not necesarry. 6 new players in the starting line-up. What we need is at the most 2-3. We do need some players, but most of them should be solid back ups that can always step up.
You are right Mrki. We should have signed Oddo this summer or perhaps even earlier. Our line-up (4-3-1-2) works best and is made for attacking full backs. It worked great untill now because Serginho and Cafu were great. Now the only threat on the sides seems to come from Jankulovski, who I have to admit has been playing good and sending some good crosses in. Cafu is a shadow of himself however and you can't blame him. He is not fast anymore and can't take on players. While Bonera does his defensive duties alrite, he can't attack at all. So we badly need Oddo who at this time seems to be the best option available. He is 30 now, but he can easily give us great 2-3 years.
As you mentioned, we also need a faster midfielder in Seedorf's spot. This seems more and more inevitable as Seedorf playes slower and slower. If Gourcuff can play the way he did against AEK, then I would happily give him Seedorf's place. But then again, I am still not convinced as he only played one game, and it that one game.........eeeeevery one played great. Let's hope that he wasn't a fluke as that guy has a lot of potential and can hopefully save us some struggles by claiming a place in the side.
We also need some fresh solid back-ups for our midfielders. Brocchi seems to bring a lot of energy in the side when he is on the field....but Ambro....I really don't know what to think about him anymore. He is almost never impressive. I really don't expect anything good from him when he gets in the game. I don't know what he offers to this team. Unless we a leading 1/2-0 and we need some toughness in the midfield, Ambro is useless. He spends a great ammount of time every season being injured.

but we have to ask ourselves again do we want to spend huge amounts of money on a Overated 30 year old player called Ronaldo... his fitness and Frequent knee injury would be something else to worry about... Its better to go for a young player who hasnt had a huge injury in his life, i would prefer to buy a player that could play for us like 5-6 years, than a player who is reaching the end of his career....
But then again, I am still not convinced as he only played one game, and it that one game.........eeeeevery one played great. Let's hope that he wasn't a fluke as that guy has a lot of potential and can hopefully save us some struggles by claiming a place in the side.
maybe everyone played great because they weren't carrying a work shy midfielder with practically no arial ability.
nah, It's obviously not all seedorfs fault, but we do need some height and power in the midfield , new wing backs, a new first choice centre back and some real quality pace in the attack.
it's all getting to look rather costly but what can we expect when we've tried to patch up over these problem for the last 3 seasons?

Me and debs were talking about him this morning (Ambrosini), its sad that he hasnt been the same player since he got injured, between 98-2000 season he was wicked, now i cant really see what he offers us.. he is injured most of the time.. its a shame, he was one of my fav players at one point, he wears my lucky num also 23 :sob:
I would go for
Amelia. unless Buffon is available for a reasonable price, we can't afford to go all out for 20m+ players with the amount we need to bring in.
Husev. Sick of Lazio's Oddo antics, this guy has impressed me time and time again, I think we should bring him in as right back.
Maresca/Lucho Gonzalez - both quality players and really strong too, the dream would be De Rossi but I don't see him leaving for anything like a realistic price.
Torres - had Oliveira settled in we could afford to go for Suazo or Di Michele, as it is, we need real quality up front, Torres has to gambled on.
Centre back - I'll be honest and say I don't have a clue, there are plenty of options though - Barzagli, Alex, Chivu, Mertesacker, Metzelder, Gonzalez

i would go Italian :devf: Barzagli, but i have doubts we will beat Juve for him.. To be honest other than him im not sure either..Why have we damaged all relations with teams in seria A, Zamparini hates us, so does Juve (understandable).. Galliani not playing nice or something..

The world had many great defenders for milan, dont panic if we loose Barzagli there is other better. But to get them we had to spalsh the money! :w155:
Barusso of Rimini. He's 22, from Ghana, has been in Italian football for 4 seasons now and is in really good form. He's a powerful ball winner type and i think he'd add some much needed power to our midfield. It's possible that a bid around £2 million could tempt Rimini.

I think no. because you can not take a player only because he can play long passes and somebody else can play on the edge of deffence and in the air.
football is very dinamic game and you need lots of skills which beckham lost due to his age, he is slow, risk averse in tackles, and not very creative in the centre, I think his best years he was a good flank player but never a creator like zizou or kaka or even pirlo, and now he really is not needed, unless he wants to try himself on milan fashion shows:)

I will seriously think of suiciding if we get him
Beck can be usefull, put him on the right flank, his crosses can be capitalised by Gila, Inzaghi, RO. His wage may be a bit of a problem.
No way....no Beckham. It would be a pure loss of money. The guy is and always has been one of the most over-rated players.
No way....no Beckham. It would be a pure loss of money. The guy is and always has been one of the most over-rated players.
That's where you are wrong. I don't think Beckham would benefit the team, but he would not be a loss of money. Ronaldinho and Beckham are the two most popular and well known players in the world, the latter undeservedly so. When Real bought him it was for the :greed: :greed: :greed:. This is unconfirmed, but I read somewhere that Real sold so many Becks jersies that they basically payed for him with the shirt sales in a week. It is pure profit to get a player of his or Ronaldinho's popularity, it would increase your profile in the world and would generate revenue from shirt sales and such. This is why getting Ronaldinho isn't as expensive as it may sound.
