There are a proliferation of rumors on goal.com that Ronaldo may come to Milan. Personally I would love this transfer as he is exactly the type of striker we don't have. Depending on his present level of abilities we can use him as our main striker os in a "Larsson" type role, hopefully some of his experience would rub off on Olivera in particular and maybe Gila.
Before you all crucify me for wanting this let me clear up some myths about Ronaldo

1)He's fat: Ronaldo has, since the WC lost all of his excess fat and is down to his ideal weight. Real madrid.com confirms this.
2)He's slow: if an injured fat Ronaldo could have managed to do the 100m in low 11's...imagine what a healthy one can do!
3)He's past it: He has scored four goals in his last four games and returned from the WC as the highest goalscorer ever.

However I believe his achilles heel might be his poor work ethic...If Carlo could reach him somehow.....our attack would surely be augmented

i don't think so.

yes he had a few great seasons back in barca but he lost his edge after inter transfer(as many other players). Partly due to injurys, but the fact is he just isn't the same player he was. In my opinion Milan needs someone who plays good now and will play good in the future. ronaldo just isn't that guy. he would just be another rivaldo or vieri

Ronaldo WAS the best forward around, but that time is now gone. I would welcome Ronaldo if he is willing to sit on the bench and be a back up. But as we can see, he doesn't like sitting on the bench a lot in Madrid plus his salary would be sky high for a squad player. So, I don't think he is a solution to our team. There is better options out there, and we all know that Madrid will ask a huge price for him anyway. Signing him would be just cleaning Real's crap with paying them a big ammount. He is nowhere where he used to be, and all that's left to him is his name.

and im sure they were free and had no relation with a possible kaka transfer. plz, we dun need real's trash. if they want to sell cassano out right for 4 mill then milan shud take the gamble. as for ronaldo, NO. we dun need to go down this road.

I think the negative hype the media has given Ronaldo is unfair...how could someone who is sooo past it make a 100M in 11s?
How could someone who is sooooooo poor score 14 goals in half a season?
( the other half he was out injured).
How could someone who is so bad score the second highest tally in the WC?
I think that at the very least he can serve us the way Larsson did at Barca

The Ronaldo criticism is unfair. I think he would be a great buy, but I doubt Milan will sign him.

I also dislike the negative hype, and anti-Ronaldo sport journalism lately.
Also, i would hate to see Ronaldo with Milan's jersey, so it says enough what do i think about how good and useful he may be ! ;)

But i'm an afwul person, and i have to go against you drucurl :)

100 M in 11s doesn't mean he didn't past it. It's not how fast i'll ran the 100m, it's more about if i can walk at all after i do the sprint. Maybe i can outrun Gattuso in 100m race, but i'll drop dead after 2 minutes running, while he can run for 2 more days.
Ronaldo is in awful physical condition, and that's the main problem with him. He's not doing much to get back at 100%, and changing clubs won't help a lot, imo. It's in his head, where the problem is. He has more football knowledge in his little finger than most of the other players have in their heads and legs, but he did lose the hunger. ( edit : the hunger for football and goals , of course. :) )
He can still be very useful , though. I agree with you here.

Also, 14 goals in half season is an advantage for him, while the same amount of goals for Gila last years half season is forgotten and underrated ? ;)

1) Well... maybe if hes running for hamburger in nearby McDonalds. You wont see that running on the pitch for sure.

2) I assume u watched WC and maybe u agree with me the only reason he was playing was that record. Every normal coach would bench him and pick better/faster/younger forward - which brazil has plenty. The coach was sacked afterwards anyway :)

And finally... Hey, we got Willy now. Why even bother with new attacker? :diablo:

I first of all doubt the credibility of the news... so I'm not going to comment further than that ;). I think it's fine if he comes over though, but I'm not sure if MIlan management is willing to deal with the press, which always seems too eager to put down Ronaldo for whatever reason it is.

I would be ok to have them over, if those were just stand-alone transfers. but you don't want to deal with the crazy Real management for Kaka'. and I am sure that Galliani and Braida knew better to turn down that "offer", if it was ever true.

I dont get what certain ppl see in this fatass. He's finished as a player, and on top of that his unporfessionalism is almost as bad as Cassano's. Just look at the latest reports and how he once got DRUNK to the training session at Real with Robinho

did larsson cost 20+ mill to barcelona? our team does not seem to spend cash readily, and if that amount went to ronaldo, you can guess which holes in our team would remain unfilled. with that money i wud rather buy abidal/alex and suazo. theres no doubt that ronaldo can still produce substantial numbers, but for how long? can he handle another trip to serie a? if he slumps, will our money go down the drain? this is like takin the gilardino gamble, except this player has no future. gila has not necesarily produced what we expected, but we comfort ourselves in the fact that he is young and can improve. these are sum reasons why the odds are stacked against us if we decide to splurge on ronaldo, and i havent even mentioned how this wud affect the kaka deal.

Totally agree! Milan is not going to spend money to help RM to ger rid of its off-peak, unmotivated, big-ego, unprofessional & wasted players!

Fatboy Nr.1 and Nr.2 should better sit pretty in RM dressing room to exert their bad influnce there and to make trouble for RM and the @sshole Calderon!

Real probably thinks that if they make a good price for these two, and sell them to us, Milan would have to sell Kaka to them. That is never gonna work like that. Kaka is worth a lot more than those 2 together. And I really think that we do not need Ronaldo...Even if he has improved now..we still do not need him. We now need to deal with our 4 strikers that we have, and make them score...

You mean like his treatment of Baggio, Montella and DelPiero? :finger:
Or maybe its his refusal to play Robinho :hammer:
Maybe its the fact that he never liked Miccoli / Maresca
How about his undying love and devotion to Raul? :whie:
Could it be his preference of Emer:1old:son over Diarra

If you can say that I doubt you play any sport at all. Sprinting, granted is not a direct correlation of stamina....but anything under 12s id devilishly fast. As a striker, I don't mind if he isn't running all game...only when he needs to is good enough for me....otherwise you must really hate David Trezuget :1five:

Ronaldo was NOT PLAYING for the half he was out. Gila was even if as a sub. Ronaldo also returned from his injury to salvage a point vs Barcelona in the superclassico (i.e. scoring in a big game...something Gila knows nothing about) with an audacious chip over the keeper :pr115:

Well I guess we'll agre to disagre then. If you didn't understand the intent of my hyperbole our conversation is by nature on paralell planes.
Perhaps some of you are here satisfied with a bunch of strikers who couldn't score in a whorehouse, but I love Milan and I want to see my club do well. That is what gave us our shiny image in the first place. If a player is contributing in a large and meaningful way to the team then that is all I ask of him. If on a personal level he is exemplary- then all the better. But as none of us can truly know what dwells in the minds and hearts of others, while sitting behind a conputer screen, I'd gladly accept tangible results first.

As for the person that called him Fatnaldo, I'm sure that with your acute awareness of current footballing events you are aware that Ronaldo is currently down to his WC 2002 weight.....but then again why should so trivial a thing as fact ruin your otherwise perfect argument.

I stand by my words....I rather a lazy drunk Ronaldo who can score a hattrick in 30 min then WALK and not defend for the rest of the game than a hardworking, consciencious Gila who goes for months without scoring and disappears completely in big games. Its just my opinion

We dont care what Ronaldo does in his personal life. But being late and unprepared in Milanello is simply out of the question! Those things interupt in Milan's team and relations between players and coaches. Ronaldo is not fit for years now, he is 30 and pretty seriously injured. I dont see any reasonable idea why we should sign that kind of a striker. He cant play top level football anymore, not to mention serie a football.

zZ[-_-]Zz
10-01-2007, 15:53
well well... the discussion continues... imagine the impact Ronaldo bein' late... drunk & unprepared for trainin' will do... you mean you wouldn't mind Kaka (or any of our promisin' youngsters) followin' that example (after watchin' Ronaldo constantly not bein' disciplined for doin' so) & in the process drink (and/or eat) his way to twice his weight?

honestly... i don't see how that can not be a problem... if we are goin' to set our standard so low... we should have decided not to fight the scandal & go down into Serie B...

Ronaldo was a phenomenon. He was without question at one stage the best player in the world. No one is disputing that fact. The feeling that I get among Milan fans is that the signing of Ronaldo has many more negative aspects then possible positive ones.

Like others have expressed, an undisciplined Ronaldo could destroy the team’s atmosphere. It could cause troubles within the dressing room. Now with the transfer fee and wages paid, Milan could surely look elsewhere and sign someone like Alexandre Pato. I seen him play regularly and I have the feeling that he has the ability to become a great player. The only question mark over his head is will be adapt to Calcio.

There is lots of talk about Milan not have a great transfer kitty. If that is the case then the coach, management and Berlusconi need to sit down at seasons end and discuss what Milan really need. The last thing Milan needs is to buy players on their status that no longer deliver.

Drucurl, it is not the first time you express your LOVE towards Ronaldo. He seems to be your favorite player and because of that you don't want to see the truth and be realistic. Ronaldo may have scored at the world cup and he might have scored some goals this season as well, but it is clear that he is nowhere where he used to be and he looks really bad on the field. He looks slow, and the type of slow has nothing to do with how fast he runs the 100m for. When I say slow, I mean slow on the ball, slow with his decisions, slow on his runs.......he is just slow in footballing point of view and not from sprinting point of view.
When Ronaldo used to touch the ball a while ago it used to excite me because I had this feeling that something is about to happen, but when he touches the ball now I get no feeling. He looks like a slug. You said he can serve us as Larsson did Barcelona, but as someone here already mentioned Barca didn't pay nowhere as near as what Real is asking for Ronaldo. Plus his salary would probably be one of the highest in the club if not THE highest of all players. I just don't think that he has anything near what it takes to deserve that much money. Now because he is your favorite player, you might think otherwise, but put your feelings on the side for a while and think realistically.
Second, I don't like Capello that much as I think he is very arrogant and always wants it his way even if it is wrong, but on Ronaldo I'll have to agree with him.

Capello IS a primadona!!
Cleary Ronaldo isn´t a solution for the future, but right now, the guy is better than anything that we have.
Some of you guys forget how dangerous is our situation....We have half Serie A to try a C. League qualification... and we are far from the 4º position.

Cleary a guy like, Robinho, Nilmar or Alexandre Pato(just to put brazilians) would be a solution for now and the future, but NOW, in the winter window, is almost impossible to purchase a players to solve our problems for the future.

Regarding Ronaldo, these negative hype is not only unfair, but stupid(no ofense). For the first time in years, the guy is in shape(9% body fat), and even the spanish press that always bash his weight confirm that. So, please stop these weight thing, be at least fair.

Capello is a clown...the guy is the only coach that I know that after a to lose a game, blame his players. The last defeat against Deportivo, the clown blamed Casillas. :1ang:

Off Topic: Man, this Robinho drunk thing is the most covard act that I saw. The press in Brazil loves to say wich players like the night, to drink and never, I said NEVER heard anything about Robinho. Even in these Christmas games here in Brazil, when the players come from Europe, and organize beneficient games(that always finish w/ barbecue, beer and samba)...never the press talk about Robinho even drinking an only beer...One famous journalist always joke on Robinho still lives with his parents, and on they always control where robinho goes :haha:
I don´t know if you guys remember, but after the most embaras defeats this year, Mijatovic and Capello had always announced a purchase(Marcelo first, Higuain and Gago), but since they can´t buy more players, put this Robinho thing in the press...

Just to put one more name to your list(Del Piero, Baggio and Montella), ask Toti about Capello...

IMO Ronaldo isn´t the better solution, but the guy also isn´t a cancer like Casano...a contract until june would be good.

Actually to be fair, I am in favour of us signing Ronaldo, not because he wouldnt be a good contribution to the team, but because I see no point in us dealing with the scum bags of Real Madrid. After the way they treated us during the summer, threatening to involve Kaka in every bid we made for R9, there is no point in helping them correct their own mistake now. They screwed up themselves, for having bought RVN and not selling R9 when there was a clear demand in the market (from us). They've got a problem now, let them deal with it. Let them pay the two fatboys their wages til their contracts expire. And besides, we have Aubameyang :)

Look guys I'm not expecting him to come here and walk on water like in the old days...but he surely is better than anything we have at present and at the very least is going to create a lot of space for the other strikers.
The other thing is that he and Kaka play very well together...unlike the Ronaldinho-Kaka duo where these superstars seem to cancel eachother.

I didn't want to include Totti to the list even though I knew he hated Capello because Capello IMO got the best out of Totti.

I'll keep your points in mind...please remember that Ronaldo has seen perhaps the worst series of events recently...I disagree with your take on the situation since I watch him a lot and it would be a dream for my favourite player to play for my favourit club. Maybe my love for him is blind, but so far I have referred to statistics to get my points across.

Ronaldo's main problem is that he is a victim of his own successes and high standards. For Example I remember his worst ever season where he scored 21 goals in the La Liga season....I mean ANY OTHER STRIKER ON THE PLANET scoring 21 goals would never be knocked...but Ronaldo was simply because he's capable of playing soooooooo much better. The season he scored 14 goals he played less than half of what he was supposed to.

The thing is whatever his position he is still a worldclass goalscorer and that is what we need. I agree that while his physical speed hasn't diminished much his decisionmaking is much slower.....but then again if everytime you faced a defender they gave you a tackle to injure you..I suspect you would be cautious as well. Also Ronaldo plays much more of a provider than he ever did. He set up Adriano this WC, and he had a couple of assists to Raul and RVN as well

Ronaldo accepts Milan offer Wednesday 17 January, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ronaldo is on the verge of leaving Real Madrid after agreeing financial terms with Milan, according to reports in Italy.

The Brazilian is ready to leave the Spanish giants and his agent Fabiano Farah met Rossoneri Vice-President Adriano Galliani on Tuesday.

Farah has now flown back to Spain where he is scheduled to speak with Merengues sporting director Predrag Mijatovic about a transfer.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan have offered the former Golden Ball winner a £4m per season contract, plus his entire image rights worth a lucrative £8m a year – which Ronaldo currently shares with Real.

The Rossoneri were initially interested in a loan deal, but have reportedly now decided to make a move to sign the player on a permanent basis until 2008.

Ronaldo is also a reported target for Flamengo, Arabian club Al-Ittihad and the MLS, but he seems interested in playing for one more important European club before ending his career elsewhere.

In the meantime, Real chief Ramon Calderon has renewed his threat of netting Milan star Kaka next summer.

“If I will still be the President in June, it is very likely that Kaka will join this club,” said the official while meeting a group of students on Tuesday.

I, for one do hope that ronaldo comes....i think that his attitude of turning up to training drunk and being unfit is typical of the lifestyle in real madrid (though that might change now with the galactico sales)....

i think players there can do whatever they please....whenever they please....i dont remember (and correct if im wrong) of ronaldo tunring up drunk, unfit etc when he was at inter....

Ronaldo is still a world class striker.....i think he could make a fantastic pairing with Gilardino....it would be a good purchase...i dont think he will cost us a lot as Real are desperate to rid themsleves of him (and maybe vice versa).

So, if he comes, i hope he can recapture some of his former glories and become the player we know he can be....and there is no better place in the world to do that then at MILAN!!!! :3band:

it is good he comes(but if we only spend like max 5mil€ on em, that is the very max)
when he is in shape he can do things only few players can.

i also think ronaldo, milan want him for kaka, another brazilian player in the team, so another friend for kaka IMHO
they want to make kaka happy, and they are prepared to do everything to do so.
which is good ::) kaka is priceless

Look guys I'm not expecting him to come here and walk on water like in the old days...but he surely is better than anything we have at present and at the very least is going to create a lot of space for the other strikers.

Oh come on, look at what Gila has been doing for us lately. There is no way that Ronaldo is better than him.
That being said, I am in favor of Ronaldo coming to Milan, because he is surely a better player than Borriello and Oliveira, and maybe even better than Pippo (although that can be argued).

from the official Milan site:

MILAN - Arriving at the Football League this morning, Adriano Galliani had this to say about Ronaldo: 'The Ronaldo hypothesis exists. Now we are waiting to see what Real Madrid have to say. The hypothesis is for a permanent transfer and a contract for a year and half at a figure inferior to what I have read in the newspapers today. The contract is the same one in length that he has with Real. The offer is to free up his contract with a permanent deal.

So it could really happen. Altough I was sceptic at first on his arrival, I am now excited about his possible arrival. And if you look at it: Ronaldo would complete a perfect circle: Inter->Barca->Real->Milan, he goes from rival to rival.

As it looks likely that we'll be missing Borrieollo for a bit, I don't mind having Ronaldo available - his experience could also be useful (though he's UCL cup-tied). Pity we couldn't get anyone better, or younger ... or maybe we will in the summer.

Internacional have given us a NW for our offer for Pato. I will be very happy if Ronaldo joins us. In life, a man never loses his capacity! Ronaldo has the capacity to score good amount of goals.

For sure, Pippo will get pissed. I don't know how are we going to fit him in along with Oli, Gila and Pippo. Like I mentioned before one of the strikers seems to be on his way out. The best candidate for departure among the three is Pippo.

Crespo wasn't fat when he arrived here and wasn't forced to leave Chelsea because of bad behaviour.

Hey Galliani hope you read this :nunu: : maybe you should sign Romario and get Rivaldo back from Olympiakos. To get the average age up even higher maybe we can bring in Batistuta?
Of course they should all be cup-tied so they are almost completely useless for us , coz we don't want to win the CL do we now?
If you really want to buy a player Real wants to get rid of at least buy a decent one , Cassano for instance.

Ronaldo is going to perform badly here , he's not a player for Milan.

from the looks of it, we are offering Ronnie a 1.5 year deal, provided that Real let him go for free, not exactly a sign that Milan sees him as the solution in attack for the next decade or something.

Honestly, where on earth did ou read into this that we are giving up on Pato because of Ronnie or that we are giving up on a 17 yo prospect at all?
Also, Internacional are willing to hold onto Pato for now as they are certain that his price will go up, or at least that's what they are hoping for.
Even worse, Milan seems to have made a 10-12 mil offer for Pato, which was refused and they asked for his buy-out clause set at twice that amount 20-25 mil.

Frankly, what has Pato done other than play 1/3 of a season for Internacional and have a decent, but nothing to lose your mind over, perfomance vs Barca ... Right now Pato is a symbol of what the hype about a totally unproven player is all about and offer of 10 mil or so is more than excellent given that he's just a prospect with a virtually blank resume. Just because the guy is yet another hyped talent from Brazil - one of 50+ others over the past 3-4 years alone - does that mean that we should immediately meet Internacional's demands of 20+ mil for him.

All in all, we have hardly given up on him but to finalize such a transfer - provided that Milan in 3-4 months from now still consider him a player worth to go after - it takes time to prep a deal at an acceptable price rather than just pay up like total idiots the first figure Internacional's president throws at us.

He's the one responsible for Robinho being drunk ... and behaving really bad at Real.
And you're saying hes got class?
With Brazil at WC 06 he never bothered to run after the ball , the only time he ran was when 90' were over and he could go to the dressing room.

Dude, it all boils down to what we want. Ronaldo didn't do much running in 06?? I wonder if you saw the Ghana game?? Ronaldo scored three goals and set up one!! Would you rather someone who ran more and scored less? cause the only player that scored more was Klose :5horse:

Haha , waauw he scored three goals and set up one , impressive... :blind:
He finishes it , I can do that to when receiving a pass from Kaka or Ronaldinho.
Can't remember him ever making one decent action himself and scoring.
When he tried , he lost his ball.

When he behaves bad I don't think the team will love him just look at Real , when he behaves bad he won't do his job well.Kinda simple you know..

So Kaka and Ronaldinho party night and day too , they're Brazilians.
Do you ever hear anything about them gettin drunk at training sessions , etc..
No they are disciplined. And yes I know it was Robinho who got drunk a few times but the reason Real wants Ronaldo out is because he's the cause of these problems with Robinho.
Something a player should have when playing for a club like Milan is discipline. And discipline is something else than showing a lot of charisma on the pitch like Gattuso.

Lets wait and see what happens. I am only in favor in this move if we are not relying on Ronaldo to be a starter and not buy any other strikers. Even if it is true that the proposed deal is only 1.5 years.
I would welcome Ronaldo if he is willing to sit on the bench and be concidered more as a rotation player then a sure starter. Milan is making a great move however by being very clear of how they want to go through with this. I think Galliani is doing a great job on this one as he said it very clear............Ronaldo will only come if Real release him on a free and Milan will not pay any transfer fee. Also he said that the salary proposed is a lot lower then what we've been reading in the papers, and correct me if I am wrong but 3.5-4 mil has been circulating in the papers. So if the salary is lower then that then that means that it is around 2.5-3 mil. One of the reasons I didn't want Ronaldo here was that I thought he would demand huge salary, but at around 3mil and only for 1.5 years then it is not a bad deal after all.

As for Pato, I agree with Zlat. Come on Mrki, if you have seen this kid play you KNOW he is not worth 22 mil......which is what his buy-out clause is. He has conciderable talent but he doesn't posses nothing even close to that price. Milan offered around 10 which is high as well. The kid hasn't even played a full year of football and he is just way too overhyped. I trust our scouts to know what they are doing. They evaluate the player and set a price, if Internacional wants to make money that's good for them, but if we go after all the overhyped youngsters in SA then we'll go broke in a year as there is at least 10 overhypers that come out of there every year. Out of them barely a couple make it to be great every couple of years.

mrki
17-01-2007, 16:53
I agree with Zlat and you, Pato is not worth 25 mil for sure. Im just angry becouse I saw on Sky that Milan is out of Pato deal becouse of Ronaldo. Pato is only 17 and the way he plays football is something worth 10-12 mil as Milan is offering. You are right here.

But, the thing is....we will, 90%, sign Ronaldo. Galliani said today: " Acontrary to Cassano case, Milan's family, and Berlusconi, want Ronaldo is Milan."
Now, if Berlusconi is really choosing the players Milans manager ( in this case Carlo ) will have in their team, than we are not doing proper technical work in Milanello.
Capello is one of the best coaches in the world ( like him or hate him), but he is. After he came to Madrid, what does he do? Get rid of the players he really doesnt need, that are not motivated and competitive anymore: Beckham, Ronaldo, and Cassano( becouse of a personal fight). And out of those 3, we go for those 2 that are worth NOTHING! Ronaldo is a player taht is badly injured, too heavy, and has been constantly out of form in the last 4 years.... What more? That he is 30?

I understand that Milan only wants him for year and a half, but we dont need him for even a minute. Galliani payed 16 mil + Vogel for rubbish injred player that Oliveira is. Now he is trying to make it up with - Ronaldo?

MOre.....the difference between Milan and Lazio is 3mil. We have payed 2mil for Grimi. Grimi is an ok player, for Palermo or maybe Lazio, but not Milan. Those kind of jobs are costing us money, and im sure Galliani knows his job, but maybe, maybe....its time for someone to take over.

So.....Ronaldo cant play top football anymore, you all will see it soon. This transfer is an embarrasment for all real football fans. Ronaldo is walking comercial, not a football player he used to be. Im still hoping we will not sign him.

Ronaldo will take a long time to settle, but I really think he is worth the gamble. He would be a better bet than Pato or whoever is available. Strange that we went for Ronaldo and not Cassano though. Cassano I believe is a better option, but seeing as we never went for him when he was available, and when his fat team mate who is 30 was available, we quickly moved for him. To me it seems like our management do not want Cassano because of his attitude.

Anyway, even though i think Cassano would be better for us for many reasons, I still am ALL for Ronaldo. Even when he comes here I would love to see him being a regular because I still believe he can play. Even if he doesnt perform we can always send him to Inter and swap him with Adriano :D

from my point of view, i think milan hasn't signed cassano cos he's a little sh#t with a bad attitude.....ronaldo hasnt got a bad attitude as such...he doesnt cause trouble between team mates...

at first i wanted milan to sign cassano but i dont think anyone at milan wanted him because he'll disrupt the change room.....ronaldo's problems (partying, drinking etc) can be changed....whereas cassano is born and bred to be a a-hole. he is a trouble maker. ronaldo is quality - he curently has some issues....but if milan get him for nothing, on a free transfer as i have read some places, then whats the risk.....we'll have gila, ron, oli and pippo. Not bad i think.....i know milan could turn hima round.....we've done it before..we can do it again.....

in regards to pato, does anyone here actaully think we can rely on an unproven 17 year old (even though he is supposeldy awesome) to steer us to 4th place? that is all we are aiming for....and it seems the italian cup! haha...

We will go as far as we can in champions league but Milan will take 4th place over and above anything else....we need champions league....reason 1...cos we are milan and we belong in champions league...reason 2....it will help entice players to us next season...as i can see a bit of a revamp at the end of this season with players.....

What i am saying overall is that pato has no experience and there is plenty of time for him to come to milan and cassano is a spoilt brat.....who has ruined his career with his attitude....so ronaldo all the way......

GALLIANI: 'Ronaldo? Everything is ready for his eventual arrival'
1/17/2007
Leaving the Football League meeting, Adriano Galliani returned to the question of Ronaldo: 'Everyone in the great Milan family, from president Berlusconi to the caretaker at Milanello, is in agreement about the player's eventual arrival. Him coming here would not mean that any Milan attacker has failed, much less Inzaghi who is Italy's top goalscorer still playing. Ronaldo is an old dream and if it comes true then good and if not we will continue on with what we have. Anyway, it is not a swap.'

Milan seems to be willing to take Ronie for the next 1.5 years, which is basically how much he has left on his contract with Real. This is however if he manages to rescind his contract and Milan don't have to pay a transfer fee. things may change if end up paying such a fee even if it's a small one.

Mijatovic initially started with an inflexible position: 20 million Euros or Ronaldo stays put, even if that’s at home. Galliani took the opposite end of the economic spectrum.

The Italian exec stated that Milan would be pleased to count on the Fenômeno, but only if he arrived back at San Siro on a free transfer.

Both have since softened their positions, Madrid willing to let the player go for around 10 million Euros and Milan making an initial – rebuffed – bid of 4 million and readying a higher 8 million offer according to Italy’s ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ (Sports Gazette).

If the reports are to be believed it’s possible that a Ronaldo deal may be hammered out for a midway 9 million Euros that appears to be acceptable to both sides.

Isn't the problem with Ronaldo that whenever he does not score he just looks a bit unfortunate.
The ones who are saying that Ronaldo shuldn't come to Milan must base their oppinion on their belief that Ronaldos career at Real has been dissapointing. Otherwise there would be no point in saying that we're 5 years too late and that he is cronically overweight, overrated and so on.
According to ESPN soccernet stats Ronaldo has in 4 1/2 seasons scored 98 goals in 147 competitive matches, an average of 0,66 goal pr. game for Real. Due to injury and lack of form I remind you that he has far from started every one of those games. For comparison Inzaghi has scored 68 goals in 101 games for us, average of 0,67 goal pr. game and he is by no means considered a dissapointment. Other examples are Henry averaging 0,62 pr. game (222G, 138G) and Sheva with 0,61 pr. game (169G, 102G) for us also.
What I am trying to say is that Ronaldo always gets his goals. I know that Henry and Sheva run a lot more, are influential and set up goals, but there is nothing wrong with Ronaldos goal tally.
He has special skills and I believe that Carlo and the staff at Milanlab can get a couple of good seasons out of him. Afterall Ancelotti seems to have a way in dealing with players who cant seem to fullfill their potential.
I think Ronaldo would work well with Gila and he could be great with Oliveira in form, Kaka playing behind them...

I personally think that the negotiations will reach an impasse.

Our management are, to put it euphemistically, frugal.

They won’t budge, and Calderon is playing hardball.

I still hold out hope for Oddo though, and I hope I am proven wrong about Ronaldo because I really want him at Milan.

Deadly accuracy, goal scorer, he will be good for you, I would like it if he rejoins us, but the reasons for not coming here are bigger than my negligible intrest in him any more, and here is yet exagerating his actions towards Inter fans who have supported him for many many years.
Ronaldo is really a ........, well I won't degnify him with even an insult.

Bronzetti expects Ronaldo move:

Real Madrid transfer consultant Ernesto Bronzetti is confident that Ronaldo will complete a January move to Milan.

The South American has been made available for transfer by the Liga outfit and although there is still no agreement between the clubs, Bronzetti sees a happy ending for all.

“My personal opinion is that it will happen and I’m hopeful,” the football agent underlined on Thursday evening.

“There is a negotiation underway between Milan and Real Madrid seeing as the Rossoneri are ready to hand him an 18-month contract.

“All that is needed is for Ronaldo to rescind his contract at Real, even if the Spanish club don’t want to give him away for nothing.

“There have been some bids made by Arabian clubs, but Ronaldo wants nothing more than Milan.”

The San Siro boys were already linked with the former Inter sensation in the summer and Bronzetti has confirmed that bid.

“Real Madrid received an offer of around £11m from [Milan Vice-President Adriano] Galliani,” he added.

“Real didn’t accept though because they were convinced that fee wasn’t enough. I think there will be more talks soon.”

Milan had also been associated with Real enigma Antonio Cassano, but the Italian’s Madrid nightmare looks set to continue.

“I’m 99 per cent sure that Cassano will end the campaign in Spain,” concluded Bronzetti.

Cassano has fallen out of favour with boss Fabio Capello and is also available for transfer this January.

there could be a huge upside to this...what if (might be a big what if, but) what if:
Ronaldo looks at this as a 2nd chance...he has been beat up by the press in spain, he has lost favour with fans and coaches...what if he becomes motivated to prove everyone wrong, and finds his old form! Rejuvinated and excited about playing with kaka, dida, and cafu... the milan lab does it thingy...and we get the fenominon?

plus his contract is only for 1.5 yrs...until hes 31 or 32...not a bad gamble, int that time hopefully gila finds his form, or we find someone else...

the only bad is if he pulls this "im above the team BS" by showing up to work late, hungover or drunk...this could seriously effect the youngsters.

to be honest i would say no.. does this actually mean that Oliveira was a mistake signing? and that the management have no faith in him? if we sign Ronaldo i get the feeling were signing another player who till take too long to settle in, and it would be a nightmare to have Ronaldo, Oli and inzaghi all on the bench and not scoring..

people here know i would rather eat my own kidney than deal with Real madrid for players, they are so sneaky.. and they wont give up on Kaka..

Personally i would like us to go for someone younger, well someone whos salary isnt stupidly high.. someone like Lupoli maybe.. or just play Aubameyang.. the money to bring Ronaldo should be used towards Oddo who is a player we definately need! plus Ronaldo wages would also rock the boat a bit....

Ronaldo Ready To Pay Part Of Milan Move?

Ronaldo may still be a Real Madrid player and Capello may have said that he could still use the number 9, Ronaldo is reported to be ready to pay his way out of the White House and into the ranks of AC Milan.

zoom - galleria The striker feels that he has been totally undermined by Ramón Calderón and Capello, feeling the double-barrelled attacks he’s been suffering from both are the final straw after last year’s merciless ribbing by fans about his weight.

Spanish daily ‘Marca’ claims Italian sources that have confirmed that Ronaldo is even ready to dig deep into his own pockets to escape from Real Madrid and into another top European club where he could still hope to jockey for a Champions League he’s never won.

According to these reports the Fenômeno may be seriously considering coughing up a phenomenal 5 million Euros to sweeten the 4-million offer that Milan made and approach the 10 million mark that pundits are claiming to be the base for a successful deal.

The striker is still under contract with Real Madrid until the 30th of June 2008, so the remaining 18 months of his contract could see him bag 12 million Euros. Given the fact that his current Merengue deal splits his 11-million yearly advertising revenue 50/50 this is an option.

If followed, this path would see Ronaldo accept a similar salary deal from the Rossoneri but his new home would be willing to let him keep his advertising rights intact, therefore meaning that Milan would effectively be paying the extra 5 million, although Ronaldo would hand it over.

I say Ronaldo would be useful. Milan only has 3 available strikers. If he plays his part his experience can help and Im sure he can still score the odd goal. Milan this season is not doing well. (I guess you all agree on this)

The players confidence needs to be restored.

Ronaldo is a very talented player. one of the few in this world. The whole world Knows who is Ronaldo. He is a big name whether we liked him or not and during last summer we had some difficulties but i hope 2007 will be a better year.

Ronaldo coming to Milanello-I believe- will bring much attention from the fans and the media and the player will feel better that a superstar is now a colleage.

It is clear that Ronaldo wants to join milan and Milan is not like Real Madrid and the fans of AC Milan are not like Real Madrid fans.

As a rossonero, I stand by my team, my players (each one of them), and my management.

This is what makes AC Milan different and worth loving..

anyway, I hope he joins us and I wish him luck.

Well, Ronaldo would certainly add some weight to our relatively "thin" striker department :)

I dont mind if he joins as long as we dont have to deal directly with Real Madrid. I'm just hoping that he is successful in rescinding his contract with them. After all, they've hardly been fair to him. First they publicly reprimand him for his weight, then they refuse to play him, then they freeze him out of the side. If anything, he ought to be able to rip up that contract. Or he could just threaten Capello that if they dont let him go and dont let him play, he will just take Robinho and the new Argies to strip clubs every night :)

According to a recent study conducted by some Spanish researchers, Ronaldo is now the second highest football personality in terms of how much revenue/income his 'name' generates his respective club. Beckham was second but his recent spat with Real has seen him slip to fourth. Rooney is third and Ronaldinho is first by quite a distance.

They said Beckham and Ronaldo are the two main media pillars for Real, bringing in around £40 million each a year, so losing them both would be a bit of a blow for the Spanish club.

It would be an added bonus if Ronaldo brought with him that kind of income to Milan.

That's a big 'if' Zlat :D

Plus we have to take into account how different or similar Italians are in this area. Do they have the same consumption behaviours as Spanish consumers. If Italians are more reserved in this respect then he obviously won't make us as much money and obviously vice versa if Italians snap up everything with his name on it.

But this is all dependant on if the transfer goes through, which is another big 'if'

I'm not too desperate for a new striker atm, so I don't think it's too big a risk to get Ronaldo. Never know, if he can regain some good form and play (that's suited to our style of play), then I don't see the harm of taking a small risk on him.

I wouldn't feel too confident about this transfer until I see Ronaldo wearing or holding a Milan shirt next to Galliani. I say this especially because we're dealing with a group of clowns.

It's difficult to say what we can expect from Ronaldo right now, as he's not been in particularly impressive shape over the last 12 months. At the same time, a lot of reports say now he has reached fitness, which would be positive.

Right now, I don't really see what we have to lose on him either. He'd be in a friendly environment, one where we can assure his fitness should reach higher levels (thanks to Milan lab) and his goalscoring record over his career is simply phenomenal. We won't have to really break the bank for him and considering the recent talk about Pippo and also the Borriello case, he would certainly make a decent alternative on the bench at least.

Probably Real will give (for some cash) Ronaldo to us. Because they want to improve the relationship again between Milan and Real. Because the fact that Galliani first didn't want to speak with them directly, but only via intermediaries, says a lot of the relationship between the two. I think Galliani played it great. I also don't think Real will be so stupid to ask to include Kaka' in some way in the contract. Because if they do that, they can forgett for 100% about Kaka' (which they actually allready can forgett about for 100% IMO, because Kaka' will never leave us).
So they will probably give us Ronaldo so that they can try to get Kaka' again in the summer.

Ronaldo joins Milan – reports

Milan have reportedly agreed a fee with Real Madrid to sign Ronaldo on Thursday, according to the latest reports.

The two clubs have been negotiating after Ronaldo made it clear that he was determined to terminate his contract with the Spanish giants and wanted to join the San Siro outfit in January.

The parties had initially failed to agree financial terms, as Milan were keen on signing Il Fenomeno on a free transfer, whereas the Merengues were not willing to let him leave for nothing.

LaRepubblica.it reports that a deal was finalised early this morning, and Ronaldo is expected to be at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza to watch the Coppa Italia semi-final against Roma.

The website also stated that there are conflicting reports on the striker’s price, as Milan sources suggest the Rossoneri will pay £4.6m, whereas elsewhere it has been reported as £5.7m.

According to El Mundo, Real accepted a £4.2 offer from the San Siro outfit, who had already been paired with the former Inter man last summer, when the Galacticos turned down an £11m offer.

Rossoneri Vice-President Adriano Galliani had written to Madrid chief Ramon Calderon on Wednesday, asking him to allow the player to undergo the routine medical tests in Italy before finalising an offer.

“This is not the normal procedure, a player can undergo medicals only after he signs a contract, or at least he receives an offer,” replied the Spanish giants via fax.

Galliani, however, met sporting director Franco Baldini again on Wednesday night, finally reaching an agreement.

Milan have allegedly offered the former Golden Ball winner an 18-month contract worth £5.3m, plus his entire image rights worth a lucrative £8m a year – which he previously shared with Real.

Roni deal edges closer

Transfer market consultant Ernesto Bronzetti has confirmed that Real Madrid and Milan have agreed terms over Ronaldo’s transfer.

According to newspaper La Repubblica, the Merengues finally decided to let Il Fenomeno leave the Bernabeu after a meeting with Rossoneri official Adriano Galliani on Wednesday night, while El Mundo also confirmed the operation.

“It is true, there is a deal, but I would wait to say that the player has joined Milan,” said Bronzetti, who acted as Milan’s intermediary in the first phase of the negotiations.

“Ronaldo has to yet undergo his medical and then the parties will have to clarify the financial details, which have been agreed to in principle,” added the consultant, speaking to Affaritaliani.it.

“There is no hurry. I don’t know if Ronaldo will fly to Milan today, we will see. I have read that Ricardo Oliveira is included in the deal, but that is absolutely not true,” concluded Bronzetti.

Real Madrid however have allegedly dismissed the reports, denying that a deal was finalised.

“There is no agreement with Milan, the news that he will leave for £4.2m is totally groundless,” stated an unknown source inside the club.

Meanwhile, CSKA Moscow have asked for Oliveira, but the deal is unlikely to go through until the summer, seeing as Ronaldo is Cup-tied in the Champions League.

I am sure the announcement about Ronaldo will not be made for today at least. Ancelotti woundn't want the squad getting distracted because of this news especially the strikers like Pippo. When was the last time we made a transfer official on the match day before the match.

The Akinfeev rumors are terrifying. He is not capable of playing for Milan for another 3-4 years. Getting him as the first choice GK next season will be like commiting suicide. He has potential but hasn't matured to the Milan level. He is good at CSKA for the time being.

the important thing was that a deal with real has been struck - reprtedly for 6 mil ;) - and thus all hurdles between the player and Milan have been overcome ... it's only natural that Milan will only sign him if he passes the medicals, which are scheduled for tomorrow.

btw, he is in Milan now and will be in San Siro stands for the Milan-Roma game ... let's hope this jiggles Pippo a bit and pours out his anger on Roma

Indeed. So now we have 3 very good strikers. Oli, hopefully, will rediscover his touch.

Kaka-Ronaldo-Oli: there has to be chemistry there.

I was just about to say this ... it's kind of ambiguous because if you wanna believe Galliani's words on the Italian version of the official site, Galliani says that there is a chance of Ronaldo being "present" at the SS for the game. All this, however, is translated on the english version as "there is still a chance that Ronaldo will be offically presented as a Milan player".

Sometimes just makes me wonder, who on earth is the person responsible for these tranlations as he/she obviously doesn't know the dif between "presenza" and "presentazione"

I didn't like when Galliani made an offer for Ronaldo last summer but in this moment i think it's a good transfer(if ronaldo will come to Milan)
and maybe it isn't in terms of consistency but it could be like a morale boost for the team

I said that in this mercato period Milan should buy at least one or two players that can give an impulse to this team

Now I can't wait to see KAKA ,Gila and Ronaldo playing together

from channel 4:

Ronaldo: We have touchdown!

Milan have confirmed that Ronaldo will have a medical on Friday after the Real Madrid player arrived in the Italian city this evening.

The Brazilian touched down at Linate airport just after eight o’clock local time which have confirmed reports that he is on the verge of completing a move to the Rossoneri.

The South American will now undergo a physical at MilanLab before the Italian club look to finalise details with the Spanish giants at the start of next week.

“Thanks to the generosity of [Real] President [Ramon] Calderon, Ronaldo – who is still a Real Madrid player – will have a medical at Milanello tomorrow," said Vice-President Adriano Galliani.

“If everything goes well then I will fly to Madrid on Monday to conclude the negotiations with Real.

“I would also like to thank [Milan] President [Silvio] Berlusconi because Ronaldo wouldn’t be here without his approval.

“Berlusconi, seeing as he is the President and therefore the first Milan fan, is hoping that Ronaldo will join us.”

It is still unclear how much Ronaldo will cost the club, but it is thought to be somewhere in the region of £4m to £6m.

Galliani also hit back at Inter President Massimo Moratti who has been critical of the likely switch given the former Barcelona player’s Nerazzurri past.

“This isn’t the first time that a player has left Inter for Milan, I’m thinking of Clarence Seedorf, Andrea Pirlo, Cristian Brocchi…

“Anyway, Ronaldo is not an Inter player and hasn’t been for four years. This move is one from Real to Milan, not Inter to Milan.”

Ronaldo will get a close look at his probable new teammates as he is expected in the crowd for Milan’s Coppa Italia tie against Roma later this evening.

I am watching the Milan-Roma game on Rai and they just showed Ronaldo, Leonardo and Galliani arrive at the Stadio altogether in an Audi A6 and after that they went up to watch the game.
The commentators said pretty much the same what we already know - Ronaldo had arrived in Milano a little after 20.00 CET and will have his medicals tomorrow (friday) and if everything is good, he will be a milan player for 6 mil euros.

6 million euros sounds too good to be true. Why would Real turn down our £11 million bid in the summer but then 6 months later accept a £3-4 million bid? No doubt they've wangled some kind of option on Kaka :yuck:

easy there Jim, easy there :diablo: ... just because they are stupid to refuse a 15-16 mil euro bid (they were asking for 25, I believe) and now are accepting a 6 mil one, it doesn't mean we let them put hand on Kaka or something. Actually, that's probably the main reason why Milan didn't want to deal directly with Real M at first and even when Milan had to officially made an offer, they did it via Franco Baldini, Real's techincal director, I think.

I think they though they would be able to work things out with Ronie and that's why they valued him that much ... but after Capello's arrival, the Don, or should I say former Don ;), has frozen him out and Real are actually looking to get rid of him anyway they want ... in fact, they would have loved to see him go even for free but that would have made them looked stupid hence this minimal fee of 6 mil (part of which Ronaldo is paying himself by relinquishing his image rights for this year to Mardid).

Also, Ronaldo himself wanted only Milan and that also put constraints on Real in regarding their options of getting rid of him.

In short - the circumstances since this past summer have changed drastically.

4-6m pounds for ronaldo is still not bad, as has been said here madrid accepted this sum partly because ronaldo insists on choosing milan only, besides he is 30 and probably his contract is running out soon.well done milan! no wonder negotiation took long in oddo's case, his contract will expire soon and he is 30, so milan dont want to pay high price for these players while if milan wait a year longer they could get them for free.

anyway let us see after ronaldo purchase is official.

Okay, Ronaldo might give us two good seasons, I actually believe he will be more useful than signing Rivaldo Vito Borba a few seasons back. From watching Brazil matches, I believe Ronaldo and Kaka have a very good understanding;hence we will see instant chemistry in the team. Guys and Gals this is still IL Fenomeno.
Jim UK, my friend, something I have not mentioned to you since the beginning of the season, is regarding our nemesis Ibra. You were very much against Ibra signing with us. Don't you think paying all that money for Ibra and signing him for 3+ seasons versus now looking for "band aids" like Ronaldo would have been a better investment for Milan.
Anyways what is done is done.
In the words of somebody famous " You go to war with the army you have not the one you want".
Lastly, maybe Ronaldo can help sway Kaka to stay with Milan. My gut feeling if we don't qualify for the Champions League, Kaka is bye bye.

theGuardian´s comedic week-day article, "the Fiver"...has this to say about Ronaldo coming to Milan...I found it quite funny...but I maintain, that if we can get 10 goals per season out of him, I will be ok with it:

There's something poignant about basking in the memories of Ronaldo's one season at Barcelona. Slim, shady and thrillingly precocious, a whole, glorious life lay ahead before misfortune, greed and a string of failed relationships with stunningly attractive women took its toll. He has never been quite the same since - not even when scoring eight goals at the 2002 World Cup - and yet those memories bewitch and bewilder. Certainly in Milan, where AC are apparently about to stump up £4m on the mistaken assumption that they can get Ronaldo back to his best.

The presumption of an innate ability to rescue a career which is, to all rational evidence, in terminal decline is one of football's more laughable conceits, along with Alan Green and jockstraps. The genius that is Martin O'Neill is the exception but, as the famous saying goes, even he couldn't make a silk purse out of a listless, corpulent thirtysomething. Indeed, not even Del Boy would have the barefaced cheek to offer goods this hooky, but Milan have fallen for it lock, stock and one scraped barrel.

"We are still waiting for a written offer from Milan," said a Madrid flunky, pinching his swingers furiously in a bid to keep a straight face and not blow the deal. ( :D )"If it arrives and is considered reasonable, Ronaldo could leave for Milan today." Quite what he's supposed to do there is anyone's guess. Ronaldo is washed up. Finished. Kaput. A putz. Even his goals - the one thing you could always rely on, even when he was moving with all the purpose of a serotoninally challenged tortoise - have dried up this season: he has scored just one in seven La Liga games. But he got 34 in 37 in 1996-97, so there's no reason he can't do it again, eh? :rollani:

My gut feeling if we don't qualify for the Champions League, Kaka is bye bye.
I'll go off topic .....

I've heard the statement from above many times here, at work, on TV.
I don't blame anyone for thinking this way, but i just want to point out there were similar situations in the past....

At first i'll start with smthg different, which has nothing to do with not getting CL spot only, but going a league down also. It's Juve of course. Buffon, Trezeguet, Camoranesi, Nedved, Del Piero didn't leave Juve because Juve didn't get a CL place.

In 1999/00 not only Juve didn't play in CL but they played Intertoto to get to UEFA Cup - Zinedine Zidane didn't leave Juve !

In 2000 Inter was eliminated from the CL during the qualifications in August, from Helsingborg - Ronaldo didn't leave them.

Milan in 2001/02 - No champions league for them - Pippo Inzaghi even joined you back then and Sheva didn't leave Milan.

No CL shouldn't mean anything. They all ( 99.99%) play for the money mostly.
I think that only some huge money offer will make Kaka think about changing clubs. He's very young and he knows he'll have too many oportunities in his life to compete and win CL. One season won't change anything.
Unless someone offers something that can't be refused, i see him in Milan next year also.

Thing is that they wanted to keep him in the summer and now stupendously publically said they don't want him at all. He won't play, he have a big contract and you think they can demand a huge transfer fee? No, their trading position is weak, even weaker since he is cup-tied for this season.

hmmm.... but both are in their thirties. The question is can Ronaldo do for this team at 30+ yrs old as he has done when he was younger? I have no problem with those that admire his accomplishments. What worries me is the age at which we are bringing him on board this club. If this was 5-6 years ago, I'd be more enthusiastic about getting him to Milan. Now/Today??? not so much so.

Well i don't think that he will play like he was 25,but i can say that he can steel score for fun many goals!
To say you something, Ronaldo and Sheva have the same age,Chelsea spend 45M for him and they knowed that he is 30,but they knew also that he scores 20-25 goals per season and that was they key for them to buy him!
But they didn't imagine how it will be the 30's years old Sheva's form at England after such many years at italy's football tempo, rythm, and style, and after all now he is less faster and stronger than 2-3 years because he is 30 how he will play for them.
On the other hand Ronaldo had spend 4-5 years at italy and Inter so he know better the italian playing than Sheva at England!
Ronaldo had made great things at italy and the world knew him first and better at Inter.
So i think he is a very very good transfer for us.

Well I dont think Gila would be benched. They all would have their fair share of games to partner up with each other. I think more accurately with Sheva, Ronaldo, & Gila, our team definitely would have more lineup options for Carlo to choose from. Right now he has limited options from all aspects of the field be it offense, midfield, and defense.

Kui (aka the neutral), Debs, and other Flabaldo dislikers...while our expectations of him are low, vs. those of the Ronaldo FC (FC= Fan Club) who strenuously differ, the bottom line is, we all have to hope that he does well...

We have not invested an insignificant sum in this player, he might have come on the "cheap" from Madrid, but his wages will be very high...

The bottom line is, there are few available strikers out there, with his pedigree...his stats are unquestionable...the ultimate question is however:

"Can he perform again, for us, like he did in the past?"....for me, its the safest bet we could have made...and at 30, he is at his, or should be, at his peak...:dontkn:

So, lets all hold hands...psyche...:D lets all welcome him, and give him our support...let him prove his naysayers wrong, and his supporters right...like him or not, he will soon officially be a Milan player...and for this reason, and this reason alone, we should all hope that he does well.

what does it matter good omens or not. What were they supposed to do - boo him and throw eggs at him so that they make it a good Omen? :diablo:
now back to the world of realities and probablities - the fans were pretty happy about it - they were singing his name and even had prepped banners welcoming him ... one such banner said: "Roni, this is where life begins"

this isn't something that depends on the fans, I mean, what are they supposed to do - reject him and insult him in order to motivate him? Weren't Real fans doing just that - constantly being critical of him and making him the scapegoat for their team's innept perfomances? That didn't exactly made him play better, did it?
Well, maybe a little positive emotions is what he needs and what would motivate him to work hard and show what he's really capable of.

Their reaction is completely normal and what it should be - they are happy to see a player like him join their club especially when you consider the diffuclties Milan has been having this year ... if he relaxes and doesn't give his best, that will be all on him and partly on the coaching staff too, not on the fans for showing their emotions.

Also, ronaldo has been in football long enough to know that the same fans that hail you and praise you one day, will be against you on the next (he's had such experiences with Real, Inter, and Brazil fans), so he would hardly allow this to make him soft.

I am not sure why we are stressing so much on his medical tests. Its also taking a long time. Smells fishy. Is Galliani trying to pull another trick by backing out of this deal at the 11th hour to further reduce his price? He is very much capable of doing that.

well, given Ronaldo's history of career-threatening injuries, no wonder we are double checking everything. Remember what Real did when they got him from Inter - they even had an insurance policy for Ronaldo in case he gets injured in his knee ... I think they had even included in the deal with Inter that in case of a reoccurance of that same injury, Inter would get only a portion of the transfer fee.
true, we aren't paying tens of millions for Ronaldo but still the injury risks have to be carefully checked.

On a free transfer I would be indifferent to his arrival...at >4M pounds I think what a joke...

We certainly love stars on the cheap, Rivaldo and Vieri cost us nothing! Revelations to say the least...

But then again we always treat our good friends in Madrid with kindness and generosity. Perhaps we received a discount for previous business transactions, such as Redondo (12M pounds at 31, another bargain).

I would rather bring Cassano who would incredibly cost less than Ronnie and yet would have numerous unfulfilled ambitions in which to pursue. The media has pumped up the tension between Moratti and Ronaldo, fact is Inter don't have any need of an expensive benchwarmer. I don't think Ronnie is that silly to believe that he could get a game in that side, so of course he would shower Milan with his untamed love and loyalty.

Sadly Milan play too much Playstation...I think they are under the illusion that the EA's FIFA200x classic teams of yesteryear who remain competitive with todays champions on electronic football fields is somehow possible in real life. Ronaldo has done it all and is now on the decline...how can they expect him to write a new chapter in our illustrious history books? Shame on me, I forget that Rocky came back at 50-something and beat the champ...AND this too was based on a computer sim. Please forgive my cynicism!

...i don't understand the negativity of singing Ronaldo, we only had 3 "quality" strikers, none of them have been consistent this season...Ronaldo gives Ancelotti more options, gives the team some breathing room, EVERYONE is well aware of his past medical history and that he's not the same as he once was and I personally DON'T expect him to be our savior or even our automatic number 1 choice in attack, he'll have to earn that but he's still a + for us and he's still as cold blooded as they come and that he'll never loose...most clubs that do well have 4 to 5 options upfront and we only had 3, + he is coming kind of cheap like someone else said, look how much Chelsea spent on Sheva or how much we almost spent on Ronaldo last summer (more than twice I think)...the fact that his coming here instead of going to another club where he could have made more money also says something about him, they guy firmly believes he's not done yet unlike Figo...he's got experience in Serie A and after they way he was treated in real he'll be one happy guy just to get a fresh start,,more pros than cons in my opinion

RONALDO has apparently completed his medical tests. "5.05pm CET, he left the training centre."

Kaka and Capitano had this to say about Ronaldo...from the Milan site. Of course they all sound positive and optimistic, what else would you expect from these guys?

PAOLO MALDINI ON RONALDO
1/26/2007 4:01:00 PM

Paolo Maldini is looking forward to Ronaldo arriving at Milan and said: 'I saw him yesterday evening and it was a nice meeting, I always hoped to play alongside a play like this.'

The Rossoneri captain added: 'It's a remarkable move because he was a Inter symbol but he is a courageous players and after Maradona, the greatest opponent I have ever come up against. I would be pleased to have him here, I said that this summer. He is an ideal opponent for me, never dirty. There is always great respect when you play against him. There would be a major leap in quality if Ronaldo arrived and it would give everyone a lift. His past at Inter was always full of good and bad, but a coach can move from one team to another in the same city so a player can. Picking Milan wasn't a comfortable choice, it was one made by a champion. He's still one of the best in the world. He's a star who has outstanding skill.'

Ronaldo best characteristic, I feel, is that he can change the course of a game in one moment, he makes the difference even when he isn't involved in the action. I don't think he will change anything in the way fo tactics, instead of which a player like him adds more quality. We'll see if he arrives.

I said hello to Ronaldo after the game and he seemed very content. The fact that he picked Milan over greater financial offers shows he still has a lot to show in football. I am also pleased to be at Milan and my future does not depend on what happens at Real Madrid. Of course, I think that I might not get on well as has happened with Shevchenko although I believe he can still write his own history at Chelsea.

Ronaldo didn't pick Milan because there are a lot of Brazilians here but because Milan always want to win. He's a great and friendly guy but first of all we have to see if he signs, then if Barcelona let Ronaldinho go it would be a great buy! It wouldn't be bad having me and Ronaldinho :diablo: playing at Milan but it's up to the club to deal with transfers so I can't really talk about it.

I for one don't like to rule out any player that comes to Milan, because football like life is unpredictable. He might fit in well and do his thing...or his stay at Milan can go totally tits up. All I know is that if he becomes an official Rossoneri this week, is willing to put in in the hard work and fight for his new team...then anything is possible. :D

absolutely right. That's why we bite every dime in half for years now, to save for the mass money rabit teeth will cost us. I'm convinced of it. But seeing how Brasil did "well" during last WC, it couldn't be a dream but a nightmare for Mr. B, even if he gets Buggs Bunny to the San Siro to begin with.

I read today in papers that Ronaldo weights 90kg and that he has been ordered strict diet and special training regime for the next 30 days. Also, Simic said Milan players are really happy about new signings as they REALLY NEEDED some new players in their squad. REALLY NEEDED! Finaly someone said something that is true. Also, Boban comented on Ronaldo and said that he believes Milanello can fix him and he can be a super player again together with Kaka' and Gilardino.

Also, it said Milan Curva was not super happy about this and Inter's curva fomr now on sees Ronaldo as a traidor... well. what can we do? :)

One thing the people can deny, is that Ronaldo has much courage!!
BTW, before the christmas, Ronaldo was at 88kg and with 9% of body fat(source: all the spanish press that always bash his weight). It was therefore why Ronaldo was mad at Capello, because that was the reason(alleged for Capello) for Ronaldo not to play before ...of course, without to play, maybe he´s at 90kg now, but I have a feeling tha in 1 week it will lose this extra weight...

Boban is usually right. Unlike other ex-players who often and only make positive comments, boban actually is very honest and straightforward. I remember him saying that Bonera will be useless as a fullback, no skills and no speed, and the passing is awful too.

Also, it said Milan Curva was not super happy about this and Inter's curva fomr now on sees Ronaldo as a traidor... well. what can we do? :)

Once he starts to score like crazy, I am sure that Milan Curva will change their minds. And so what if Merda curva thinks of him, it is not our business. :5inter: After all, Ronaldo has played for Barcelona and Real Madrid, what do they expect? :1d31:

Oliveira is included in the deal. he is loaned out, so we don't lose him completely. But we will need an extra striker now, who can play in CL. Probably it will be Caraccioli.
