Unless I didn't look hard enough, I haven't seen a thread here where we can discuss European competition beyond Milan, so I've started one. Mod squad, if one's been started already, feel free to merge it and give me a rap on the knuckles. :)
Probably not the best way to get one started, but I didn't want to start out with a blank slate.
Totti: Ronaldo Is A Liar
Francesco Totti has rubbished claims from Cristiano Ronaldo that some Roma players begged him for mercy during the meeting between the sides last season.
Manchester United humiliatingly thrashed Roma 7-1 in last year’s Champions League quarter-final. The two teams met again last night with the Red Devils coming out on top with a 1-0 victory.
In the days leading up to yesterday’s match Ronaldo said: "When we were already winning 6-0 one of their players said 'don't do any more dribbles, you're already winning by six', almost begging."
Totti has denied that any such words were exchanged and has hinted that Ronaldo may have to face worst provocation when the teams meet in Rome on December 12.
“Regarding Ronaldo’s comments in the last few days, we didn’t say any of these words to him. I can promise you that the elbow he received from Vucinic yesterday was purely accidental but Ronaldo now has to come to Rome,” Totti said.
Er Pupone was proud of Roma’s performance last night and believes they deserved at least a point from the game.
“We did much better than we did last year. We controlled the game and we should have had a penalty. All in all, we did not deserve to lose,” Totti concluded.

That reminds of the world's most famous tennis match when we literally sent the Merda to the trash can. We were leading 4-0 when one pathetic Inter supporter ran to the field came across Billy and said something like "Bastare! Bastare!" or "Enough! Enough!" We didn't think that was enough of course as we added another 2 goals for an extra icing. :grinser:
Back to the topic it's interesting to see what will happen to CR7 in Rome as MU (and their fans) didn't receive warm welcome last year
If its true then C. Ronaldo proved himself as a coward :)
Mark my words
AS Roma will beat Man Utd 5-0 when they visit Italy
Sorry Steza, buts going to happen ;)

How the hell has Ronaldo proved himself a coward? He wasnt the one begging, h was the one Panucci was pleading to stop tormenting him :dielaugh:
Considering some of the fouls that Ronaldo has taken without changing his style he is probably one of the bravest players around, every time someone tries to break his legs he gets up and immediately demands the ball again.
Anyway, when Utd go to the Olympico we should already have qualified, so Roma can have the honour of playing our reserves...

Oh how immense they were against Coventry lol.
For me the following link pretty much sums up Ronaldo:

exactly, if Mifsud can score twice past our reserves then maybe Roma will manage 5 between them.

LOL, so say the experts!
They follow up their expert critique on Ronaldo (based on 1 game  ) by saying of the upcoming CL final "i think Liverpool will have too much for them up front!" What footy had they been watching over there? were they still thinking Keegan or Dalgleish were playing for the scousers? :dielaugh:
Does anyone remember the part of the Man Utd v Roma match where Man Utd had a corner and afterwards both Perotta & Curci went down hurt? Perotta was rubbing his head and people were booing him and Curci. In the replays, Curci was clearly caught, but my point is the bit about Perotta.
ITV played one angle briefly where you saw Ronaldo do what looked like a punch. Now i'm not saying he did punch Perotta, but as the replay at this particular angle wasn't shown again and as Ronaldo was next to Perotta at the start of the corner, i don't think it's a long stretch to think he COULD have punched him.
I love it when he plays the game, but i hate him as a person. I'll openly admit i wasn't sad to see him with a cut eye! :delol:
Dru, Aguerro scored twice in the Uefa cup tonight! :D

That kid with Messi & Cesc are the only youngsters I would pay silly money for, they can change a game. Aguerro has made A.Madrid forget all about Torres.
Still the goal against Liverpool yesterday was a cracker, its a shame really because I wanted to see Samir Nasri.
Steza - lol, nah but they really dont like Ronaldo, there are a few videos on Youtube where they nail Ronaldo pretty hard. In one video they say that Linekar, Hansen & Shearer arent that good pundits and call Ronaldo a brat. I can see where they're coming from, Ronaldo is a player you either admire or despise and only United supporters admire him.

honestly didnt see that, i remember the corner and seeing 2 of them on the ground but never found out why, was it Vidic running into Curci?

The way i see it, if Ronaldo wasnt any good then rivals wouldnt care enough to despise him ;)
Those old fools didnt really seem to know what they were on about, one was saying he's a great match winner but not a great player ?! what use is a great player who doesnt win you matches! :dielaugh: Ronaldo doesnt even have to play well to help Utd, he is such a threat that just having him on the pitch means he drags 2-3 players around with him and leaves room for everyone else.

Yes, i think it was Vidic running into Curci that time. The other time Saha's legs caught Curci right on the knee, which would make anyone go down if they've ever experienced that pain.
Honestly, with the Ronaldo thing, it was such a brief glimpse that if you blinked you'd miss it. Just enough to make you wonder what he was doing with his arm. Being someone who doesn't have alot of love for Ronaldo, i naturally put that and Perotta on the floor together and came up with the idea that he punched him :delol:

Well to be honest you have to care if you hear United fans say 'The best player in the world blah blah blah' even after the semi's last year when Kaka took it away. Im not saying he doesnt have potential but I can name some games last year when opposition totally boxed him in and when they do this he cant take it, plus the diving lol.
Can you say to me Ronaldo shined last year when he faced the big clubs? I couldnt see him in any of the Chelsea matched, the Pool matches, the Arsenal matches or the Milan matches. You cant be classed as great and not show up when it matters, great players shine no matter what the circumstances. Did you see him in the FA Cup final? however he did rip teams apart but these were smaller clubs like Fulham, Reading etc.

He played well in a few of those games, and tore Roma to shreds in the quarter finals. The truth is that apart from Arsenal he was double or treble marked by all those sides, Milan had Gattuso plus which ever full back he was opposing on him as soon as he got the ball. Roma are a more attacking side and by not emplying those sort of tactics he could get to them 1 at a time.
Its easy to criticise Ronaldo on that but look at Kaka and he doesnt fair much better when faced with those tactics. in the CL final he barely touched the ball for 80 minutes as he had Mascherano doing to him what Gattuso did to Ronaldo. He got freedom against Utd but thats because Utd like Roma are attacking by nature and didnt have a proper defensive midfielder (Carrick is far more Pirlo than Gattuso) to protect what was largely the reserve defence. Also, Kaka got one goal in 8 games against the fellow top 4 sides Roma, Lazio and Inter last year and that came in a high scoring defeat.
When you hate someone with passion you'll always find a "proof" of how bad he is, or how he's not any good, or not good enough bla bla bla
I am not a ManU fan and i really like CR7 and i admire him as a football player.
So, this :
only United supporters admire him.
is not true

Exactly Stez, United is my second team and i think, they play just to win, C.Ronaldo has prooved his game a lot, don't forget that he was only 17 when United took him. He passes more, he cooperates better with the other playes and he is just 20 if i don't make a mistake.
Carrick stated in the Greek TV that United wins although they don't play weel so he said when their perfomances would improove they will be even more competitive. My opinion is that if United had taken Berbatov instead of Tevez they wouldn't have a scoring problem and they would be too strong :5ok: .
To not forget Greece is the only counrty that continues in UEFA cup group stage with 5 teams !.

He has turned 22 now but that is still very young in football ;)
Uou ar right too, he has been tracking back to help his defence which 2 years ago was simply unthinkable. He also knows how to use the overlap better too so instead of dragging across the players then trying to beat them all he now drags them across then gives it to someone else in space. If Wes Brown could put decent crosses in this would be noticed more

Did you know Carrick broke his elbow against Roma and played on anyway?!
He is right too, at the moment Utd are winning ugly. the defence has been rock solid and hasnt conceded a goal for about 7(?) matches, obviously not inculding the league cup as that was the reserves. The attack has been disrupted as Rooney was out for 2 months, Ronaldo got banned for 3 games, Saha only just made his first start against Roma and Nani and Anderson werent really bought for this season so no matter who we signed we would have struggled. Berbatov would have probably done better than Tevez has though, i do agree with that as he is a class player.
I think fans here should stop talking abt C.Ronaldo too much, simply bcoz he doesn't deserve too much atentions :) He is not Kaka, Ronaldinho, Lampard or Totti. He is the best player of the world when it comes to play againts the small clubs of EPL :devf: but when he is up against the big clubs then he is the FLOP # 1 in Europe :grinser:
Plus he is a cheater and football is game of fairplay. He should be banned from playing in Europe after what he did is WC 2006 and its as simple as that :bri:

The true is that C. Ronaldo is a good player but ManUtd fans try to make him look like a legend, which is simply not true, I like him but I dont see him the best player in the world not even close.

It tends to be you who brings him up all the time !

He is better than all of them were at his age.

How many Milan players would have to be banned if cheating were properly punished? Pippo, Gila and Dida have all shown themselves to be masters of the dark art ;)

So, this :
is not true
;)
Still disagree?
he was suppose to be the next Luis Figo but all he brings to the game is cheating, diving and useless tricks :bri: , which makes soccer fans SICK :wallbang: plus his hair style sucks :grinser:
To be very honest, I think Jaquin & Simao are better right wingers than him or should I say useful and straght forward, with no cheap ticks :)

Theres only one winger better then C. Ronaldo at the moment and his name is Ribery
Still disagree?
Well , i do, man.
I don't disagree that ManUtd fans make him better than anyone else, but i disagree on what you've said previously, smthg like "Only ManUtd fans admire him"
Like i said, i am not a ManU fan but i really admire his footballing skills. I really enjoy watching players who know what to do with the ball in their feet ( Cr7, Zlatan, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Zidane, Ginola, Diego, Joe Cole,Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Messi etc) and Cristiano Ronaldo is easily the best one in the world in this case.
This, of course, doesn't mean that he is the best football player in the world. Far from that actually. Football is not only dribbling and tricks (although, Cr7 also isn't only about dribbling and tricks).
Personally i rate Kaka, Zlatan, Messi, Henry and Ronaldinho higher than him. But he's close and has a very good chance to be #1 in the world at certain point of his career.
Theres only one winger better then C. Ronaldo at the moment and his name is Ribery
Ohh I for got Ribery and and the Left winger of Bayern Munich (and Germany), which means there are atleast 4 better wingers than that skinny tall cheater :)
But he's close and has a very good chance to be #1 in the world at certain point of his career.
NO chance in HELL,
bcoz Kaka, Lampard & David Villa will rule for the next 5 years and then it will be the turn of Messi, Pato, Gourcoff and David Silva which leaves no space and time for that OVER_RATTED player :grinser:
I dont see what possesses people to think C.Ronaldo is one of the best, he is no way near as good as what some of the United fans make him out to be.
Step overs dont win you matches.

Still disagree?
The players listed by zeekay are all world class now but when they were 21-22 they were no better than Ronaldo.
Kaka didnt even leave Sao Paolo until he was 21 and there were plenty of doubters and complaints about him on here long after that.
Totti didnt make his Italy debut until he was that age (Ronaldo has 48 caps, 19 goals already)
Lampard was still a fat kid at West Ham who even his own teams fans used to say only had a place in the side because he was nephew to the manager (Harry Redknapp) and son to assistant boss Frank Lampard Senior !
Ronaldinho was a much hyped but unproven PSG player with as much interest in the Paris nightlife as in his football.
I dont see what possesses people to think C.Ronaldo is one of the best, he is no way near as good as what some of the United fans make him out to be.
Step overs dont win you matches.
Utd fans didnt make him players player of the year, or writers player of the year.
Step overs may not win you matches but goals and assists do, and Ronaldo got 23 goals and 20 assists last year. Not only that but he scored just about every type of goal imaginable, left foot, right foot from inside the box and outside. headers, free kicks, storming runs and tap ins.
The allround nature of his threat is what makes Utd fans rate him so high, and makes knowledgeable football fans like Tony appreciate his potential.

I'm going to throw my hat in the ring here to in favour of CR. He is still young but has made the cut in the EPL, which is not an easy league. I agree there were times when all he gave was trickery but i firmly believe he has moved up a level. You only have to recite his display against Roma at Old Trafford as a guide to his quality. I know most in here will probably say Roma are not that great but as an Italian team they still are a classy outfit but CR tore them ragged and single handedly brought them down that night. CR has still to mature in the game but he definately reminds me of a young Jimmy "Jinky" Johnstone and i'm sure he will amaze us for a while yet.

Inter will keep going in champions league, untill they meet with barca, nter just cant win against that team, but i cant blame inter, because barca is loaded, especially now with henry. Milan is a champions league team, not a serie A team. They can, and probably will destroy anyone in their path. My prediction for the finals, would be either milan, or inter in the final with barca.
Inter Milan vs Fenerbahce

Inter booked their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League as second-half goals from Julio Cruz, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Luis Jimenez led them to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Fenerbahce.
Julio Cruz, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Luis Jimenez bagged second half goals as Internazionale booked their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League with a demolition of Fenerbahce on Tuesday.
The Italian champions waited 55 minutes to make the breakthrough, Cruz tapping in the opener, but thereafter they were unstoppable.
Ibrahimovic made it two with an exquisite finish 25 minutes from time and following a flurry of chances substitute Jimenez wrapped up the rout in injury time.
It takes Roberto Mancini`s side onto 12 points from five games - an insurmountable Group G lead of four points from Fenerbahce - while the Turks hold a slender one-point lead over PSV Eindhoven, who beat CSKA Moscow.
