View Full Version : Episode #2: Milan vs. Shakhtar (10-24-2007): Kaka` the savior?
Is our season like last year?
The performance against Empoli was certainly disappointing, but let's not lose hope, yet, nor do we have the time to.
It's against Shakhtar, who has 6 points and sitting on top of the CL group table at the moment, on Wednesday.
Dida, who didn't say a word but apologized for his dishonest action before the game against Empoli, will be absent, so expect Kalac to be between the post.
Winning the golden ball looks like a reality, but life is always more difficult for Kaka`. It looks like the best way to prove his worth is to lift his team up at this stage of difficulty, again. Kaka` has to lift his team again. Will he be able to, as usual, deliver the killer blow?
Forza Milan! Time to prove the doubters wrong!
- J
Jeff, is it official that Dida won't be able to play against Shakhtar? I thought his appeal will be held by UEFA tomorrow.
Shakhtar comfortably won the 2 CL matches, but like us, they lost in their latest league match too. We must win this game. The faster we reach the safe place to qualification the better for us, so we can concentrate to catch up with Inter cs in serie A. I don't care if Kaka score, he'll win the Golden Ball, believe me. Nothing less than a win will satisfy me.
FORZA MILAN!

Um... good question. The answer is NO, it's not official, but I think they are going to ban him at least one game.
We'll know by Monday. Regardless, I'll still hope to see Dida between the goal post. If not, let's hope that Kalac is up for it.
Fears over injured Jankulovski
Monday 22 October, 2007
Milan’s Czech international Marek Jankulovski could be facing a long spell on the sidelines after sustaining possible ligament damage against Empoli.
The versatile 30-year-old limped off last weekend and it now appears that his injury is more serious than first suspected.
Tests early on Monday afternoon revealed that the damage to his left knee is extensive and he will be out for at least three weeks.
If the cruciate ligament was damaged, it could lead to a much longer spell on the treatment table.
There are also fears for Kaka ahead of Wednesday’s tie against Shakhtar Donetsk as he is yet to recover from a blow to the knee during Brazil’s game against Ecuador.
Massimo Oddo looks likely to play despite picking up a knock during Sunday’s clash.

Looks like some trouble for milan, but coming of that loss with empoli they are probably hungry for a big win now they should pull it off.

With Kaka rumored to be out as well, I think we can count on dropped points here...I predict either a loss, or a draw.
Regardless: FORZA MIIIIIIIIIILAN!!!

Shoooooot! I forgot, this side has Nery Castillo? We will lose for sure...but this is just my pessimistic side overriding both the pragmatic and opptimistic sides....feel free to ignore this post. As you were then!
I've been reading some Ukrainian papers and the thoughts of Ukrainian football fans.
Ancelotti said that he hopes Shakhtar will not close everything and it looks like that's exactly what they'll do.
Their coach is Mircea Lucescu. This guy was coaching Pisa, Brescia, Reggina and Inter from 1990-2000, for whole 10 years. He knows the Italian football very well, he says he knows Milan and he knows what tactics should be used against Milan at SS.
I'm not sure if Shakhtar can defend for 90 minutes though. As someone else here said, these CL minows are actually the champions of their respective leagues and they aren't used to defending for 90 minutes like Siena or Empoli can.
In an open play Shakhtar has no chances against Milan. But if Lucescu tells his men to use Empoli's system, then you may experience problems in braking their defense and defeating them.

1-0 Milan. Seedorf in the 73rd minute.

Looks like Favalli will start over Janku tomorrow, as the latter has picked up an injury during the Empoli game.
Marek might be gone longer than we can afford it: http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/23102007/58/serie-jankulovski-blow-milan.html
There isn't a thread about Milan-Roma so i'll say it here
Totti was injured tonight in 35th minute. Looking at the way he walked out of the field, i really doubt he'll play vs Milan on Sunday
Perrotta failed a fitness test this morning and his injured right ancle is making him a doubt for Sunday's match
Aquilani is still out and won't be back for a long time.
Taddei is another one on the injury list

Which just goes to show what shape Milan would be in if they had a real injury crisis like Roma!

Everybody is now doubting milan as kaka is out, as he is the only player that feeds oppurtunities and scores goals. Milan cant afford to always rely on him. They have seedorf, inzaghi and gilardino, three other great strikers. Its a big loss for kaka to be out, but they must think about scoring goals and winning the game with the pplayers they have.

MILAN-SHAKHTAR: CALLED UP PLAYERS
GOALKEEPERS: Fiori, Kalac, Offredi (n.30);
DEFENDERS: Bonera, Cafu, Favalli, Kaladze, Nesta, Oddo, Serginho;
MIDFIELDERS: Ambrosini, Brocchi, Gattuso, Emerson, Gourcuff, Kakà, Pirlo, Seedorf;
STRIKERS: Gilardino, Inzaghi.

Hmmm, Maldini is not among the called players. Now the only chance for Kaladze to play LB is if Bonera partners Nesta in CD.
If not, then Favalli it is.

I'm glad that Elano has left, the only concern is that i hope Nery Castillo dont make a monkey out of our defence...like he did Brazil in Copa 07.
Carlo has no problem with selecting a team...Admin ensured he has no options...
Milan should win... just picture Shaktar as "Lazy-O".

Is this another case for your obeah women to handle Warro?my amiga, there are some things that even obeah cannot influence....like the tides for instance, or when the moon will be full, and when it will not appear in the night sky.
Milan are without all the necessary ingredients for us to perform:
a) No Kaka
b) No strikers (good enough to create chances for themselves...ie dribblers)
c) Tired Seedorf and Pirlo, who as such wont be on form, and thus wont be providing the service our "in box only" strikers require
d) possibly fielding Maldini who gets beaten in the air more often than a piñata
e) Should I even bother going on with this demoralising list?
It is my opinion that we have morphed into a single dimensional side, due to the lack of options available in the attack....saying that Pirlo is "irreplacable" is starting to sound like: We cant be bothered to find a young attacker who has his characteristics..what we are waiting on is for Riquelme to become 30 so we can buy him"
Our strikers are both target men, incapable of getting past an opponent, either in or outside the box.
We have no Kaka replacement...and Gourcuff isnt being fielded enough to gain the self-confidence he needs at this level, as well as the trust of his team-mates.
So, tell me please, which obeah woman in her right mind would take money to "ensure" that the full moon wont appear this month? (Clouds excluded) :dontkn:
Some important players from Shakhtar :
Defenders : Tomáš Hübschman (22 caps for the Czech Republic)
Ilsinho ( the Brasilian RB Milan wanted to buy)
Mariusz Lewandowski ( 37 caps for Poland)
Răzvan Rat ( 44 caps for Romania)
Dmytro Chygrynskiy (20 years old great talent and captain of the team. Their best defender)
Volodymyr Yezerskiy ( 34 caps for Ukraine)
Midfielders:
Darijo Srna (50 caps for Croatia)
Igor Duljaj (50 caps for Serbia)
Fernandinho
Jádson (scoring a lot of goals for a midfielder)
Zvonimir Vukic (26 caps for Serbia)
Forwards :
Nery Castillo ( 12 caps for Mexico. Great and pacy dribbler)
Oleksiy Byelik ( Ukrainian NT player, 19 caps, and the leading scorer in this team)
Brandão ( their main attacker in past years)
Cristiano Lucarelli ( ex-Livorno striker. 6 caps and 3 goals for Italian NT. His record against Milan at San Siro is 3 matches / 3 goals)
Not something special but certainly not a team that can be underestimated.
Warro Bantan
23-10-2007, 17:21
Not to be underestimated is an understatement :D
This is a team that ran rings around Celtic (albeit at home), who we couldnt seem to score against, and has some very pacy, skillfull players.
Our only hope, is that they will be simply overawed by the San Siro, and mentally collapse...that, or UEFA calling the game off because they were guilty of fielding an illegible player or somesuch.
I really feel strongly that we will be embarrassed this game...:moan:
Our only hope, is that........
You can't say "our only hope.... to beat them" when you're playing against Shakhtar, Warro. You're really underestimating Milan.
Kaka will probably play. He didn't play against Empoli because Carlo wanted to keep him fresh for this match and now all of a sudden he is injured ???? I think it's only a trick to confuse Lucescu and Shakhtar's players.
As you can see above, Kaka is among the called players.
Maldini on the other hand, isn't among the called players so you don't need to worry that he'll get beaten in the air.
It's Milan vs Shakhtar Donieck. The guys who won everything vs the guys who never passed the group stages, even though they are CL regulars.
Only cattenacio with occasional counters can bring points to Shakhtar, nothing else. Only if they copy Empoli, Parma or Catania. If they play in any other way, they'll be crushed tomorrow.
or UEFA calling the game off because they were guilty of fielding an illegible player or somesuch.
Well, in order for this to happen, you need to answer the following multiple choices:
Pay a fan a handsome amount and go and ask him to slap SHAKHTAR's GK; then run away (with the police ushering him back to the stand, of course, only to give a lifetime ban when UEFA is making a big fuss about it).
What will UEFA do?
1) Ban the Shakhtar GK for NOT diving.
2) Fine Milan $n dollars where n is HUGE.
3) Deduct Milan -1000 points, unless Inter Milan wins the CL for more than Milan (i.e., 8 times), which in another way effectively eliminate Milan's participation in the CL for the next 100 years (assuming that Milan scores 10 points in group stage).
4) Ban Dida for another match.
If you answer this question correctly, then you know how unlikely UEFA will do anything pro-Milan. Sorry, but that will not be UEFA.
Dida got only one match ban for the most disgraceful act i've seen from a professional footballer in last xy years, Jeff.
I don't think it's correct from you to imply that UEFA are being anti-Milan.
UEFA made a mistake for giving such a light punishment to Celtic and then they made a much bigger mistake by reducing Dida's ban.
They've proven that they're weak and easily influenced.
Indeed, I think Dida should be banned for the rest of his life from football and just retire. Zidane should be banned from even touching football, and Gilardino should well stay in his bed.

Rather underestimate Milan, than Shakhtar...would probably make good money betting on them....think I will place a bet...Tony...US$50 on them to win 2-0 in the San Siro tomorrow. No joke. (will get it to you by the usual means :D )

Yes, but is he fit to play 90, 45, or 30 minutes?
As for them playing attacking enterprising football...away to us? Rather doubt it old chap...I think they will defend like there is no tomorrow, and will probably have one striker...and a packed midfield...and we know how well Milan does vs a packed, defensive midfield...I think they will watch the Empoli game, the other games in Serie A where we have dropped points...lets see...which one should I pick...hmmmmm there are so many....and just play accordingly. These are not stupid people we are going up against.
Worse, they will be all hyped up to play the defending champions...while we are still struggling to score a goal from open play in the San Siro.
Please a cube of ice in hell has a better chance than we do tomorrow.
I firmly believe that.
(While I feverently hope that we win).
:diablo:

He promoted shameless cheating in front of millions of fans, especially children who'll be professional footballers. What is the message he sent to this children ? What is the message UEFA sent with this ban ?
Why do you think there was so much dust ? Players dive all the time, in every match but people never reacted the way they did now. Why do you think it happened ?
UEFA are not acting anti-Milan. They have a lot against Milan but they don't have the power to punish them for the blackmailing from last summer.
Calciopoli wiretaps are now available. ( PM me if you want the e-mail from where you can order them). After this, Calciopoli is now called Farsopoli in Italy.
I spent the last few days reading this and now i know that Silvio Berlusconi is the most powerful person in Europe. He used the TV rights to blackmail the Italian FA and UEFA.
If Milan were prosecuted for article 6 violations and if they didn't participate in CL last year no TV rights would be sold in Italy and no UEFA coverage would be possible in Italy. You’d be surprised how much pull the Milan media machine has in Europe. UEFA and Italy depend on Berlu's media. They just can't allow to hurt Milan.
Sorry for going totally off-topic, but i found it funny (sorry Jeff) to hear that someone thinks UEFA are anti-Milan.
I tend to agree with Tony on this one. Dida DID get off lightly with only a one match ban and yes I believe what he did he worse than any other dive I've EVER seen in my life. His just made you wonder, "what exactly was going through that guy's head?". Celtic did get off easy as well but I don't see anything 'anti-Milan' about it.

In my opinion, Dida should have been punished far more severely. But the man did show contrition against Empoli, and for that, he must be commended.
To get back on topic, Carlo has said in his usual pre-match conference that Favalli will play from the start. I'd go with Gila up front since he's just been doing better than Pippo as of late. Also I'd start Bonera over Kaladze because I'm not sure Kala is 100% fit.
My starting lineup: Kalac; Oddo, Nesta, Bonera, Favalli; Gattuso, Pirlo, Ambro; Seedorf; Kaka, Gilardino.
If Kaka isn't fit or if Seedorf is extra tired, I've give Gourcuff a go.

Dida is the coolest football player i know. My favorite Milan player by far. I'm not talking about his goalkeepeng skills, i'm talking about him as a person. The Celtic inccident aside, i think he's been super professional. You could never see him lose his mind, provoke an opponent, faul an opponent.
He looks like a man who had a lot of sleepless nights for what he did at Celtic. I'm sure it hurts him and he is disappointed for what he did, he is ashamed.
That's why what i said was not an attack on Dida, i was attacking UEFA more than i was attacking Dida. That was an incredible stupidity and i guess Dida, for his perfect record in his long career, deserved not to be crucified.
But such a mistake mustn't have been unpunished. And one match ban is to me equal to no ban at all. Today you get a red card and 2 match ban for saying to the ref "Go to hell". This was far more dangerous than yelling at the ref.
But it's done now. I only hope this will never happen again, and if it happens then i hope that the next one who'll do something similar Dida has done that night will get a long 5 match ban and a 100 000 eur fine.
i think the formation most likely will be this :
---------------Kalac----
Oddo---Nesta---Kaladze/Bonera---Favalli
Gattuso-----Pirlo------Seeorf/Gourcuff
------------Kaka-----------
-----------Gila----------
but i hope that Kaka plays more next to gila not behind him :D
and not to see Brocchi giving balls to Shakhtar(SP?) players :|
if thats the formation that Ancelotti is going to play with i think it will end 3-1 or something ;)

I'm surprised to see no mention of Serginho. I'm particularly glad to see him back, as he's a good attacking option to have on the bench. Although he's just returned and certainly not match fit, he has qualities that we often need, such as pace, ability to run at defenders and is a good crosser of the ball.
Slowly, but surely, as players like him, Maldini (I'm aware he's not available today) and Ronaldo, I feel more at ease.

is serginho even in the squad to go? at the moment i cant really see him contributing much more than Ba this season. With him not playing a competitive match in two seasons, i dont even want to imagine his match fitness.
shakhtar will at least get a draw from us. Lucescu knows how to hurt us and has the players to do it. our squad is an utter joke. apart from the first 14 players there is absolutely nothing.
Sacchi 'Milan misses Berlusconi. A team without pride'
Former Milan and National team coach, Arrigo Sacchi, during his radio show “Il calcio totale”, aired every Tuesday on Kiss Kiss Napoli, commented on the current crisis of Ancelotti’s squad. Sacchi used hard words that left no doubts. “There is one thing to say on Milan: the president Berlusconi is not as present as he was when I was there. The president is a very important figure. The players are too relaxed, without joy for the game, not bothered, they are slow, awkward and with little pride. They have a great coach and great staff, but they are like a Ferrari without petrol: the fuel, in this case, is made of motivation”.

All the negative expectations from this game are understandable considering the situation we are in. But I do think even if we don't win tomorrow we won't be playing bad. After all its europe. Teams are not that familiar with our style and pace of the game like our italian counterparts. Sure they do their prematch studies and all but implementing it against the reigning champs at their own backyard will be tough. Also I don't see mistakes like those of Dida's against Celtic (goalkeeping ones) getting repeated and those were the primary cause of our defeat.
So a bit more positive stance from me. Coming to the starting 11, surely hoping Kaka can shake of his injury to get a start. Won't risk him under any circumstances. Gourcuff should be given a start. If we do go with a single striker it should be Pippo in my opinion. After all he has the experience if not the form for these sort of games. And form can hit anytime.
Cheer up guys. Hope for the best as tht's all we have now.

Thats the site I use, it launches the program for you on the correct channel to see the game.
If you look carefully at the 3 goals Milan conceeded at home against Parma, Catania, and Empoli, they all exposed the same problem in Milan's backline ... all 3 goals were created from the wide positions where the attacker was allowed free space by the Milan full-back, then the ball crossed onto the path of the un-marked centre forward ... a coincidence? not when it happens every game!
This is true and this is a problem !
For tonight's match it may again be the main problem because Shakhtar has great pace on the wings with Srna and Fernandinho and they have quality target man that is Lucarelli.

Hi Ace,
I agree that Milan will win 3 - 1...but where is Ambrossini in your formation who will score a goal for Milan ?? (the other 2 goal would be 1 Kaka and 1 Seedorf...as usual Gila can't release himself from Shakhtar's defenders)
And...moreover he's the captain in charge on Maldini's absence.
wooops missed Ambro my bad ;D
according to eurosport.com Kaka and Gila will play next to each other and Kalazde will be the left wing :O

from acmilan.com:
Ancelotti:
For the rest Kaladze will keep playing in his central defence role, while on the left we will alternate Favalli and Serginho. Tomorrow Favalli will play from the start. Kaká? At the moment he is a question mark. From when he returned he's had a problem to his knee. We still have one day, let's see if he is able to recover or not. Apparently he will play, which is good news.
My hopes are raised a fraction, like 1/2983, but still higher than before :D

I just became aware of the thread title; shouldn't it be Episode 3, seeing as it's our third group stage match?

Whats strange? There is no motivation against teams like empoli. We should play youngsters in serie and let the old ones play bridge and wait for important matches...

Style of play in Italy is all defense. They don't open up and look for goals. They put 10 men in the box and counter strike the hell out of you.

how well Milan plays unfortunately depends more on the opposing team than how Milan plays...if the opposing team wants to play defensively and wait for Milan to mess up, Milan will struggle...if the opposing team tries to outplay Milan, they will PAY FOR THEIR INSOLENCE, hehe
seems like Gilardino will get that hat trick

Favalli should not be playing for Milan.
Enjoyable first half. Open football. It should have been 4:0 or even 5:1.
Wasn't this an intentional faul at the end on Kaka ? It should have been a red card, or at least a faul and a yellow for Hubschman.

Excellent game all round, Favalli and Oddo were a bit off, but in truth, apart from Oddo´s mistake, we were able to recover from all their errors.
Wonderful result...guess I have to be more pessimistic about our chances from now on eh? :grinser:

yea but this time....he scored the opening goals...it was a great game!!!
Great Win :rone:
Well done Gila :respect:
It was a very intertaining game. The first goal is what did it for us. Scoring an early goal like that opens the game up. Being the unexperienced side that they are, after the first goal the opened up right away. They left too much space and their back line set up a line of defence way to high. You just can't do that when you play a team like Milan that can play so many give-and-go's around you. Add to that the speed of Kaka and it is a deadly combination.
Even thought we missed TOO many chances, it was still a good performances. We should have however put them away earlier because their goal was a little scary.
They are a very good team and I am not surprised that they had some very good chances. Also, in the first half we were sitting too far back inviting them and giving them way too much time on the ball. At one point we had our midfielders sitting on the edge of the box. We were way too deep and were lucky that they didn't create anything more serious in the the first half. In the first half they had all of the posession but never looked threatening at the important places. The second half they had more serious chances and they got off some great shots!
I also have to point out that Kalac was spot on and never made a wrong move. Great job for him.
Lets focus on Roma now and lets show Italy that we are not going to give up on the championship just yet. A win against Roma should certainly put us back in the mix, not so much points wise but we will get some confidence back.

This game gave me a headache. Highly entertaining but also very frustrating. The result was excellent, and thanks to Benfica, things are looking much better for us now. We did well, but also had to suffer far too much.
The first half was very strange, we started brilliantly and Gila was doing a SuperGila job today, managing to take two good chances. However, defensively we were atrocious, leaving spaces, giving the ball away far too easily and making mistakes at almost every Shakhtar attack. Saying this would only say half the story though, as we did well on the counter and should have scored more.
The second half was actually much better, we tightened up in defence, with exception to Lucarelli's (he's like Chiesa for us) goal. Our attacking play was exemplary counter attacking, simply beautiful to watch, although really like the first half, we should have scored more.
Players..
Kalac - Excellent, very assured all match
Oddo - Awful, defensively all over the place and offensively would normally give the ball away. Terrible mistake on the goal too.
Nesta - Outstanding, without him we would have been in deep trouble
Kala - Solid, did his job well
Favalli - Like Oddo, and it's no coincidence we looked much more secure with Bonera
Pirlo - Mixed game, but on the whole effective, superb corners
Rino - very good, worked hard, though looks strange without the chin warmer
Ambro - Excellent, was very good on the ball, winning tackles regularly
Seedorf - Probably my MOM, was superb. Wonderful goals, passing, movement and assist for Gila
Kaka - Would have been MOM if he didn't waste so many chances. It was simply incredible not one ended with the ball in the back of the net.
Gila - Outstanding, excellent goals, and superb team play. He looks like a different player these days.
Bonera - Solid, very much needed
Serginho - Little impact at the end, but glad to see him back. As I said prior to the game, he should be a useful player for us.
Emerson - never felt as Ambro left, very good backup.
I was pleased with the result, the game is hard to call. We weren't brilliant, and really asked the opposition to pressure us by committing so many mistakes. On the other hand, Shakhtar were absoloutely awful in defence, and were lucky not to end up like Slavia Prague last night (if not worse!!).
The result is what counts though, it was needed and now we can look ahead to Roma with a little less pressure.

now, let me rub some salt in certain wounds :D
Well done Gila :respect:
sorry, dru, but all seats on that bandwagon are sold out :zany:
:grinser:
.....
'Pool know how to make a true Milan fan's day even better, don't they? :grinser:
I bet Rafa is worried now and if he isn't, he better be ... although on second thought, having Torres on his team guarantees him a 2-0 start in every game ... at least when the opponent is called Derby C. :grinser:
Cudos to Real, they did manage to beat a 10-men Olympiacos at the Bernabeu ... after all, every team with Sneijder in their ranks would do that with ease :grinser:
P.S. as always, nice summary Dev :5ok:
^ easy there hate to curb your enthusiasm but it's still only Shaktar......Hopefully we can exude the same comfidence vs Roma....I'm hoping to replace Favalinho with Serginho if at all possible....and a sneak preview of R99 perhaps? ;)
FABULOUS post Milanista ;)
One really can't say it better ;)
i would say were not, were playing more of a 442 with kaka playing as the other striker. I would say this works :zany:
If you look on uefa.com Kaka' and Seedorf lined up behind Gilardino.

Oh no need to worry about me joining *cough*cough*more goals in a blowout*cough* :D It may take a starring Role in a roman tradgedy for to even consider signing up ;)
But seriously he deserves ALL credit for breaking the deadlock and then hammering the first nail in their coffin :respect:
You said most of the things, but we still let Shakhtar too many shots on goal and too many chances.
Oddo was awfull, and Favalli was never a good enough player for Milan. In defence he is invisible, in attack he cant go as he cant run! Only thing he does is pass the ball to Ambro or Pirlo, shamefull...
We are still not playing with enough determination and grit in the middle, and Pirlo is now looking like he is a bit out of shape.
Still, great win for us today and I hope we do the same on sunday, and maybe we see Ronaldo back soon...

If you look on uefa.com Kaka' and Seedorf lined up behind Gilardino.
on paper yeah, but kaka is playing alot more forward the last few games. When we play inzaghi he is always alot further forward on his own. I gotta say the gila- kaka partnership is working.
Zlat is right Dru.
You're just another bandwagoner. It was really silly of you to jump on Gila when he didn't score vs Empoli. It looked like it was the only thing you were waiting for - a match where Gila won't score, even though Inzaghi was the tragic figure on that match.
Ronaldo sucks !
Gila's goal(s) were of huge importance today. You can't say "it's only Shakhtar". The Ukrainians are a team that have the quality to make a top7 finish in serie A. Scoring an early goal and then another one, which allows a counter-attacking football from then on, is something Milan failed to do in serie A this season. If Gila didn't score two amazing and very hard to score goals, you could have struggled again and i wouldn't have been surprised if you even lost this one.
Seedorf had a perfect match with 2 goals ( unimportant as some people want to call such goals when Gila scores them) and 1 assist but my MOM is Gila, because without him, this match would have looked differently than it turned out to be.
Gila is a genious
Ronaldo sucks

I think that was evident from last season, not something new. I remember around the Xmas period the two developed a very good understanding, but when Ronaldo came most forgot about it. We're starting to see it come to fruition again, but I don't think it's anything new.
Wow I missed a match where we win 4-1??! I'll have to catch the replay later tonight. Seems Kaka was magical as always and Gilardino..nuff said eh ? :5ok: :grinser:
Gila is a genious
Ronaldo sucks
I think Dru talks about "Gila wagon", not the "crazy wagon" you're on apparently... :grinser:
PS; yeah, gilas goals were gold today. Cant say he's a genoius for scoring his 3rd and 4th goal in CL after 3 seasons...
Feels like im on cloud 9 -
Watching Milan demolish Shakter with a cracker like the final goal, and watching Celtic and Liverpool lose haha.

Shut up and don't get involved when two good friends are having a discussion and when one of the friends will do everything to make his friend go crazy by calling Gila a genious and Ronaldo a sucker.
:grinser:
I was joking peters. I enjoy doing this to Dru when Gilardino scores a goal or when Ronaldo has a bad match. I don't really mean what i say in these occasions.
Nice try Tony29 ;) but I saw your evil plan a MILE away....it's a pity you Juventinos are so evil if you're always getting caught with it :guw:
What a game , this is what Milan is all about exellent football with Kaka' scoring those 100% chances we could beat them even worse but anyway he showed that Ballon d'or belongs to him . Kalac IMO had the best game since his arrival in Milan , Gila is back on track . Seedorf defenitivly MOM 1 assist 2 goals he's doing great for the moment ..
FORZA MILAN
Now let's beat ROMA !
Whatever....Ronnie still sucks and Gila is scoring like crazy.
Gila=4 goals , Ronaldo = 0 goals
Btw, Kudos Olympiacos.
I can't believe what did Casillas save in 92nd minute. Amazing save to prevent Oly from equalizing 3:3. The Greeks were a man down from minute 12 and yet they managed to take the lead and had a mega chance missed by Kovacevic in last minute.
Liverpool ....beh, they will never walk alone. Steaua and Slavia will be right there with them ( sorry Jim, couldn't resist :ashamed: )
Did i say how Gila is a genious ?

What most don't understand is that I have nothing PERSONAL against Gila it's just that I think he's not for us. I know you're joking so let me not get too heavy
If:
X= No. goals scored this season
Y= No. games played
Therefore X/Y = goalscoring average :5ok:
Ronaldo has played 0 matches this season.
Hence Y=0
And as we all know, mathematically speaking, ANY number divided by 0 is infinity :o
Then it stands to reason that Ronaldo's goalscoring average (X/Y) is mathematically INFINITELY better than Gila's :sweeteye:
:grinser: :1five: :grinser:
Gila is our new Marco Van Basten :grinser: :grinser:
Did you see how he scored! HE SCORED!! HE SCORED!! :grinser:
Ronaldo cant even play a single match, im sure he is afraid Dru...
Ronaldo should be used as the football

too heavy - won't bounce as much ... would work great as the team's mascot, though, given how fluffy he is :grinser:

Just after the match Adriano Galliani stopped to talk about the match with a large smile on his face. He began by talking about the difference between playing in Italy and in European competitions: "Playing in the Champions League is different. All teams play and let play. But everyone is free to interpret football like they want. It's certainly a pleasure to watch games like this one." He then went on to talk about Kaká's performance: "This is a fact: it's almost impossible to imagine Kaká being able to make runs like the one he made tonight in an Italian league match."
There was great support from the Milan fans tonight, as Galliani acknowledges: "Tonight the crowd reminded me of the one in Athens. It means it's still fresh in their memories, as it is in the club's."
He then continued to talk about the match: "We could have had 10 goals, but we are happy like this, also because on Sunday our mood could change again. I am happy for Kalac, because he did well, but let's not forget that with Dida we reached 3 finals in 5 years."
i just hate it when this guy talks.......still he is talking abt athens...and things of the past...
It's rumoured that Galliani will bid for Kanoute in January cause he still want a "bierhoff like player, tall and can head for goals......
Then......all of sudden Gila showed him that Kanoute is not needed if only for heading goals.
Mr. Galliani is BOZO THE CLOWN !!!!
I was joking peters. I enjoy doing this to Dru when Gilardino scores a goal or when Ronaldo has a bad match. I don't really mean what i say in these occasions.

anyway, if i was a juventino gila would be genius for me too, simple as that ;)

Dida is the coolest football player i know. My favorite Milan player by far. I'm not talking about his goalkeepeng skills, i'm talking about him as a person. The Celtic inccident aside, i think he's been super professional. You could never see him lose his mind, provoke an opponent, foul an opponent. He looks like a man who had a lot of sleepless nights for what he did at Celtic. I'm sure it hurts him and he is disappointed for what he did, he is ashamed.
Thanks for the post, Tone. I know that nobody's perfect, but character is important to me and that's why I am a D1 fan, in addition to what he's done for the club and the fact that I have a soft spot for goalies.
His apology might have looked odd at first glance (and I'm hoping it'll show up on YouTube), but he handled it the right way by facing the fans in person rather than holding a de rigueur press conference. It definitely proved that actions often speak louder than words.
It's ironic that it also occurred on the same day that Boruc publicly refused to apologize for his animosity toward Rangers players after Saturday's match.

Hmm I partially agree with him, yes the small Italian Teams Like Empoli close the gaps and force the other team to produce ugly football, but also we have to notice that all Milan goals last night were scored while all Shakhter player were inside the box which means that the problem is not the deffesive football these teams play but with Milan's ability to cope with this football as they did last match or fail like the match before it, Inter, Roma and Juve face the same problem though they always manage to handle while we simply cant, it seems that the problem is ours not the others football style.
Ohh I forgot to say forzaaaaaaaaa Gila, you scored two great goals :p017: keep playing like that and you will be one of the best in the world, and Seedorf what can I say? :respect: :5ok: You are a living legend and if it was up to me I would give you the Ballon d'ore (spell?) side by side with Kaka.

I take it his prolonged indecision to sign a new deal and the way he treated the club in that time failed to cross your minds when singing his praises? You talk about him as if he's a saint or something.

I have to agree with Jim_UK. Dida was fairly greedy, and there is no way he deserves to earn that much (if reports are to be believed).
He is always phlegmatic, which can be inspiring. But if that is accompanied by frequent mistakes, then it seems a little ridiculous.
Kalac did very well yesterday. I hope he gets a few more games. He isn't as bad as people think. Seedorf was incredible. Great player.

when its crunch time Milan play delivered....Milan new that anything less than a win will hamper their progress to the Knock out stage... they have over thirty games to get to fourth spot or win the League... IMO milan are only doing what they see as enough to get to the knock out stage of the champions league...if they were in a position that they could afford to lose that game last night then they would conserve energy and lose. It makes no sence killing out your self so early when the trophies are won in May...
It was good to know that they have not lost their ability to play and win...
Now we have the right to get on their cases when they fail to win...
Good shooting from outside the box...thought that was forbidden in recent matches.
Its good for moral...especially mine...
Jah bless all Milan Fanz...Rasta Love

I noticed that too...but it must be noted that the defense played in Serie A is waaaaaaaay tighter than the way defense is played in other leagues. They close you off fasters and mark you tighter. They are on you like butt on a bench or white on rice. They don't give up and will chase you way back into your own end.
No disrespect to the defense played in the Ukrainian League but I don't think the can be compared with the defense that's played in Serie A.
Therefore Milan can have their way with them, more so than teams in Serie A.

Personally i completely disagree with that and i think it's a bit of a myth that ALL of the defences in Serie A are super tough. They're not. I watched the opening match, Inter v Udinese and the amount of time they had on the ball was a joke and totally dispelled this idea that it's so tight in Serie A. The majority of the other games i've seen on ch5 have confirmed this.
But i can understand that my limited viewing of Serie A may not be representory of the rest of the league, but i've yet to see alot of games dispell this notion.

Jim_UK - Towards the end of this article Seeedorf touches on the point.
And your point is taken...maybe too much is made out of "The Almighty Italian Defenses", and its really not as tough as we'd like to think.
But I do believe there is a difference in the style of marking between the leagues which allows Milan to play their style of game in the CL & not so much in their domestic league.
And your point is taken...maybe too much is made out of "The Almighty Italian Defenses", and its really not as tough as we'd like to think.
Maybe alot of it is just thinking back to the Halcyon days of Serie A when the defences really were monsters and every team hassled and harried you for all they were worth.
Likewise with the continuing belief amongst commentators that Italian teams are always happy with a 1-0 lead as they'll shut down the game. This kind of nonsense stereotype has no place in the game, especially when i think Serie A was one of, if not the highest scoring league in the world last year.
But I do believe there is a difference in the style of marking between the leagues which allows Milan to play their style of game in the CL & not so much in their domestic league.
I take your point and yes you are right that different countries, teams and individuals will all have a different method of marking. I just don't think Serie A really is miles ahead of any other league in terms of the tightness of their defending. There is a difference, but not a major one in my opinion.
