I'm surprised nobody's opened a thread for this match yet.
Apparently, general ticket sales for Tuesday's affair have been abysmal with only 3,000 sold, not counting holders of season tickets or fans who bought passes for the three CL home matches.
Nonetheless, to quote a particularly bad movie, "All that's left is revenge."
I'm surprised that the game is immediately after CL game 5. Anyway, a draw will work and nobody really cares :). Besides, Milan vs. Juventus is a bit more interesting now :)

It was bumped up a week because of our upcoming Club World Cup play.
Right now I'm just praying to God that Dida hasn't come up with another shoulder injury.
How come Milans group games are being played this week and the others next week?
Is it because of the World Championship?

ic; it'll be all reserve I promise.
Well looking at our starting eleven's from, they need rest. A draw would be ok for us, putting us in the first pot, But a win would be amazing since the Scottish side is very fearsome in their home matches, and might be trouble in the knock-out round. A lost wont be acceptable since we need a morale win for the CWC.
I see this Formation:-
---------Dida
-----Bonera----Kaladze
Oddo---------------Serginho
-Brochi---Pirlo----Ambro
Seedorf---------Gourcuff
------------Gila(or R99 For some Match Time)
Subs:
Maldini = Oddo
Pirlo= Gattuso
Kaka/Inzaghi= Seedorf/Gila
I know its bad winning formation, but atleast we should rest our players, and give gorky/seedorf/gila a trio try.

Milan will care more about finishing top of the group than on revenge but wether or not they will field a weakened team is another question. I am not confident of us getting a result in the San Siro as our away record is the exact opposite of our home record. The only chance we have of getting anything rests with who the manager plays for Milan and our guys raising their game that bit more. Nonetheless i think it will be a great game with just the 1 maybe 2 goals in it.
lets remember what happened to Shakhtar when they came to the San Siro ;)
Anyway, Carlo wont play the "2nd team" Formation but i also think he will play Ronaldo(if fit) and Gila or the christmas tree with Inzaghi upfront... as always Kaka and Seedorf behind him.. but we'll have to wait for the called-up plays list to come out to the public

Or
Remember the last time Celtic came to the San Siro.
Celtic and Shakhtar are two entirely different teams. Shakhtar are a team who have spent big and are looking for progress so attack more, where Celtic are essentially a dominant force locally and work hard trying to progress. This makes Celtic a bit more defence minded than Shakhtar, so less open to a rout. Also considering that there are no defence like an Italian defence, that if Milan go 1 goal up they will try to preserve players by closing shop and maybe just picking up any chance of a counter attack. Whichever team Milan field i'm under no illusion they will want to win but if it's a team of irregulars then the pressure is on them to impress on Ancelotti for a regular slot in the team and that might just be shaded by Celtics "must get at least a point" approach. One day celtic will end their away day blues but i'm not so certain tomorrow will be that day so i am hoping Benfica can do something for us.

Do we have a "second team"?
well I just remember the word i meant to say... and the word is : reserves :P
and Tommy, in the CL Milan are still undefeated in home... so your "our away record is the exact opposite of our home record." sentence isnt exactly right...
but anyway Football is football ;)

I was refering to Celtic winning all the home games but losing all the away games. As much as i want Celtic to win, i can't see it happening. Milan are too strong even with some reserves in the team.
First thing first. I hope we can fully concentrate on this match without thinking about Tokyo.

Milan are not one of the best teams for nothing, they will go into this game fully focused and with every intention of staying top of the group by playing for the win. After maybe 1 goal they might relax more and let Celtic do all the running and that's the only way i see us getting the draw but if i am being honest i would say that if Milan score the game is won.

lol, I doubt you've seen many Milan games where we don't need the result if you think we go into the game focused ;)
I think we'll put a side out competitive enough to try and get enough to secure top spot, but a loss is expected tbh. The fact that it was Bonera speaking ahead of this match with Carlo to me suggests how seriously we are thinking about it.

R99 is not even on the bench???
well he is injured/has other problems... what did you think?
i dont expect a lot from this game. Many of my friends were at juve game, they were so sad when they came back. The curva was (intentionally?) quiet, the game was boring... depressing. And i fear it could be even worse now, celtic will stand back for a point, milan doesnt win if they dont need to...
Only if celtic goes a goal down and tries to open up for an equalizer, ti might get interesting then. Hope i see gourcuff and aubameyang playing, but it will prolly still be only Goofy up front.

Hopes not high for us to win this one...but lets see...Milan may actually surprise me.
The low fan turn out I am sure will be demotivating to the team, and with Celtic needing a good performance to ensure progress, they will be coming out all guns blazing...
I just hope we get through the game injury free...with a loss, but no injuries...I can work with that.
While it would be better for us to avoid one of the big guns, I am confident that we will be able to beat any team we face in the round of 16....with a full squad of course...

He's still injured, they expect him to be ready for the first match in Tokyo
And where is Maldini?
Though not playing full matches, he's been playing a lot lately so could probably use a rest.
I hope for a better performance and a win tonight. We are playing at home (though that's been a problem this season) and Celtic might play defensively as they only requrie a draw to progress. Let's put the shame of the parkhead debacle to rest!

What kind of logic is there in starting our reserve keeper and yet dragging Kaka out for another match?
Somewhere, Zeekay is jumping for joy.
i really dont know what Carlo is up to, but then again, I, not sure he knows it either...
Dida is on a good run, he needs to be in goal. Simic & bonera, nice...when we conceede a goal becouse of that and finish second it will be cheerfull...
At least he could field Serginho who only played 60 min on saturday.

What the hell? Celtic have done nothing. They've managed one shot on goal in 45 minutes. Milan are doing enough, it may not be spectacular but it's a very competent Milan performance so far, dominating possesion and keeping the ball in the opposing half.

Well, I can definitely tell who ESPN wanted to win tonight, given the fifty gazillion shots of the Celtic fans in the stands.

Bland match overall, but we woke up in the second half. Good to see Pippo finally get the record.

I forgot about that. Thanks for reminding me. Annoying all the same, though.
Today is the day of Pippo - the record-breaker!!!

Dull match, I won't go into detail but the first half was making me fall asleep, but we improved in the second, with notably Kaka and Cafu really making a difference.
Ironically this dull match actually set a couple of records:
1) we've now come through the group stages as 1st for 6 years running, a new record in CL
2) Inzaghi is now the all time leading goalscorer on 63 goals, a fantastic achievement and congratulations to him. It should be 64 though considering that miss he had in the second half, one of the worst misses I've ever seen :D
FORZA MILAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MOTM - the whole team :rone:

It was almost like watching a Premiership game today, torture. I dont know why Gourcuff wasn't given a chance to start? If not this game, then when?
And we're off to Japan :)

LOL!
This pretty much sums up Kaka's night.

Newly-crowned Ballon d'Or winner Kaka lifted his trophy to a rather empty-looking Milan crowd seconds before kick-off.
That hurts.

Great victory for us, that takes us to Japan with a win under our belts...good game by Clarence, especially in the 2nd half when he played much more of the "10" role than in the 1st half.
Thought Gorky played well, and that Kaka, despite looking a bit off form, should have either scored that break away goal, or set up Pippo for a brace...regardless, Celtic were pretty toothless in attack, and for me, were playing for a draw, with the possibility of a counter attack goal.
Glad for the win, looking forward to Japan!

The cabin fever from being housebound for the past few days due to a stomach ailment (heck, maybe I passed it on to Dida) has made me a little loopy. :)

Was it called offside? Either way it was an awful miss.
It was called an offside; further, it looks like before he headed the ball, he knew that it was called offside; so I wouldn't be too concerned about whether he missed it or not...

Jeff - so you think that Pippo knew he was offside, so he purposely headed the ball to the keepers arms? :D
haha there's no way out of that one for Pippo.. it was a terrible miss! and the keepers facial reaction to Pippo's reaction was just priceless
NO I don't mean that; but when you hear the whistle just at the moment when you head the ball; or at least during my experience, you often get distracted just at that moment and he didn't head it right ;).
but yes, that GK's reaction to Pippo's miss is just one out of sincere mockery :).

yeah but then the European scorer, shut him up.
very happy for pippo, and as for kaka, he truly showed that he needs 2 strikers.
PATO anyone?
Superb performance by our team. Now let's conquer Tokyo!
Boruc ok too. If we don't get Frey as a 1st choice we could do worse than having the Pole in goal. Better than having the lamppost at the other end.
