View Full Version : Arsenal-Milan CL Round of 16 Leg 1
Yes, fullbacks, but Rooney serially fooled the two central backs. I'm sure they will pay more attention in the CL game, but that performance isn't any good by a pair of regular CBs, especially if Inzaghi is around.
I wonder a player like Pato or Kaką would have done instead of Rooney.
Sup Gio
Thought I would post the quote here as I don't think its right in the Pato thread.
I'm not saying Rooney didn't have a good game as he was immense but I'm sorry was this the same Rooney that has tore up the Arsenal defense on all our last three meetings with United? For the games in the past he has been in Kolo's back pocket, just like Ronaldo has always been in Clichy's back pocket. That performance was a 1 off and if it happens again I would be very surprised. Every team has had performances this season which they would want to forget and we can choose the best players from both teams Kaka, Hleb, Ade, Pato etc and say 'I wonder what these players would do in such a weak performance by the opposition.'
To judge an Arsenal FA Cup game and think you will face the same team is as stupid as judging Kaka on a few Seria A games.
Before Kolo went to the ACON the cb paring of him and Gallas was probably the best in the PL and again Rooney was kept quiet in the game at the Emirates. The only worry I have is that Kolo has not been the same player ever since he recovered from the injury at the ACON. He was wrong footed for one of the goals against Egypt and that is very rare to see from a player of his caliber.
Still hoping for a cracker game tomorrow, soo nervous.

Man u are a BPL follower and u guys only know 1 formation which is 4-4-2, which to be honest sucks :grinser:The most widely used formation in world football sucks? Any more pearls of wisdom you'd like to share?
Its the Best side in the world, the most technical league, & Best players. Its not just Febragas, C.Ronaldo, Gerrard etc etc. We are talking about the VERY BEST here. ACM formation is different, its complicated for u guys :devf: U guys can't just fit Lampard and Gerrard in one team, where as ACM has won the CL with Rui Costa (similar to Kaka), Seedorf, Pirlo + 2 strikers all in 1 team. Any English can't even think of adjusting half of there players in 1 team. Thats all because BPL knows only 1 formation and it never works in the CL :devs:Funny, the last three CL finals have featured an English team playing 4-5-1.
Chelsea and Man United also tend to play 4-5-1/4-3-3 in the CL.
Fabregas, Hleb and Rosicky/Eboue do plenty of defensive work themselves.
Fabregas and Hleb often to helps attacks than defense.and Rocisky will be out for this game.as for Eboue.. i don't think Wenger will plays him after MU saga.
And there are two things that I hate at the moment, they are:
1: 451,
but when u score in opponent home there always be a benefit as for the goal difference at the end.so it will be interesting if Arsenal plays 4-4-2 in SS and 4-5-1 or whatever formation as long as not 4-4-2 in Emirates.but that's just my opinion though.score in opponent home but save in the home.as for Milan Carletto will do the best :star: i hope to see Pato's debut in CL here
2: Eboue.
no wonder :rollani:

Pirlo doesn't go up anyway, and Kaka and Seedorf (and seedorf also defends, but not as well) always go up. I think your assessment may be inaccurate.
a 4-3-2-1 with the usual formation will be perfect against Arsenal, then a 4-3-2-1 again at San Siro in the first half, and introduce 4-3-1-2 only in the second half or 60minutes or so in the second league will be Mister Carlo's (usual) game plan.
Arsenal will try to control the ball, which they will do so successfully. They'll press Milan hard, and Milan usually do poor away.
But if somehow Milan has a top day and players are passing accurately, then Arsenal will have a more difficult day.
If Pirlo doesn't go up anyway...it would be up to the centre backs and full backs to try and defend against his accurate passing.
That means Playing flamini (1 DM) will not have the consequences that the other guy is suggesting.

Ref ruined the game for me.
Inter just sat back and you could tell they were going to concede.
The first goal by Kuyt was pretty lucky, the second was class as it just caught the keeper offguard.
What are the odds on Inter battering Liverpool at the San Siro?
That totally made my day :D, thank you Inter, thank you so much that you exist...
Even when our team has ups and downs, we still have Merda for everyday life enjoyment...

It seems the penalization of Matrix was rather harsh..but it just goes to show how "protected" they are in Italy, as these calls never go against them in Italy.
I doubt they will be able to score 3 goals in the San Siro though...so Liverpool, barring an abysmal performance, are thru to the quarters... :rollani:
Oh, and I counted...... 5 handballs given to Ibrahimovic throughout the game.
all would have been ignored were the refs from Serie A :P

C'mon Arsenal! Save that for yourself mate. :delol:
If KAKA, pirlo and seedorf all come forward at the same time, i expect milan to concede ATLEAST 6 goals.
Flamini is the kinda DM that doesn't sit back...instead he attacks the other players upfield in order to push them back, win the ball and distribute.
Well...I dont even want to comment on this.
We will see, not only tommorow, but also at the San Siro. its not only the Emirates game we play. Im sooooo sorry that Ronaldo isnt fit to play. 45 min of normal game by Ronni is always enough for something to happen.
Wenger will play Gilberto and Flamini as that is simply needed.
We need 3 things to come together:
1. Nesta beats Adebayor
2. Rino beats Hleb
3. Seedorf plays well
I wonder which Arsenal Team is going to turn up , You never now with them. Will it be the brilliant one with oozing passes or the ordinary one that seems to turn up when they are playing Tottenham and Manu.
But one things for sure their centre-backs are seriously off-form.
I think Arsenal will turn up very strong tommorrow. I don't expect Milan to win tomorrow.
REALISTICALLY I'll be content with a 2-1 loss; 1-1 or 2-2 will be fantastic; worse is 1-0 to Arsenal.
We'll see.

I see somthing similar...not a loss but a 2-2 draw. I think if Pippo starts and then Pato comes in at the 60 minute mark he can turn on the jets and he and Kaka maybe be able to get a result of 2-1 or 3-2.
The important thing is that we score the away goal and not pull an INTER and give up 2 without scoring.

We should believe in Gila. Serie A defenders are familiar with him and marked him well, but the rest, not. So he can find his chance.

so strange how Inter never cease to SUCK SO BAD in Europe..no more referees to hook them up with the calls ha.. well I was supporting them today and I was disappointed, they bring shame to Italy really.. as they do in every CL.. Roma's performance today was great, I'm happy for them but I'm almost certain Real will qualify..
unfortunately it is Gila that is going to be starting tomorrow and we can't do anything about it. Forza Gila, please at least try to make life difficult for the defenders.. I dont think Pato will play when we have Pippo on the bench. I'm 100% certain that we will start with the X-mas tree tho...

Right. Perhaps that's the reason why he's our top scorer in UCL these past 3 years. :coffee:
I don't mean to undermine Gila, but considering the importance of the match, I think Pippo should start instead of him.

I disagree. Gila on from the start might just win him the brace he got out against Shakhtar Donetsk. Pippo, as much as I love the guy, is in a drought right now. I'd rather have Gila on for 60 and swap for Pato at the moment.

I was watching last nights training in Emirates, and from what I saw I can say for certain that this is the line up
-------Kalac---(he didnt train regularly with the group, but his expected to play tonight)
-ODDO --NESTA--KALA--MALDINI ------ODDO got the edge over bonera
-RINHO---PIRLO----AMBRO
------SEEDORF----KAKA
-------------GILA----------
Another thing I noticed from the training is that KAKA and GILA were playing in the same team, and Gila was always turned with the back to the goal, he never trid to make shot..his only duty was to make space for kaka with or without the ball(similar to Man Utd away game). Thats what his playing tonight also.
SO I`m guessing will be depended on Kaka a lot tonight...

Yeah, we intend to replicate the game vs Man U, the same formation, the same tactics, even we'll be in the same colors - white jersey, black shorts and black socks... :D

Do you mean that Flamini come over to Milan area to keep Pirlo less of the ball ?
You're wrong man. :grinser:
In Milan, Pirlo plays infront of our pairing centre back. It means that in time milan get ball posession, Pirlo is the most later person among all milan midfielders.
In Arsenal side Flamini is ur defensive midfielder who will be stand exactly infront of Gallas & Toure. If Flamini do so (chase far to milan area to keep Pirlo less of the ball), then who will mark seedorf and kaka as our offensive midfieders ?

It could be the work of both defense and other midfielders ... :d33:
If Arsenal play with 4-4-2 pattern which is mean only 2 central midfielders possibly flamini and fabregas, then flamini goes upfront to milan zone to keep Pirlo less of the ball and called out of position, i guarantee you that Kaka, Seedorf and one among Pippo/Pato/Gila will be grateful for the space lefted and chance directly to face and beat Gallas & Toure.
Fabregas job ? yes, who else if flamini goes upfront. Good rotation needed cause we all know that fabregas has more offensive role than flamini in Arsenal. I doubt it
Both wingers Hleb & Eboue ? You know that Arsenal is a team that play wide. They will be outpaced by Kaka if Kaka run from the center straight to Gallas & Toure

Janku and Pato were training with the group, with full intensity. My reasoning behind the decision to play Paolo in the left back position, is that Paolo has great positioning. Both Janku and Paolo are slower than Hleb and Sagna, but Paolo can compensate with good positioning...we all know that can be very important.
Pato wasnt playing with the same team as Gila and Kaka, he was playing in the other team with Pippo, he was used as as more of support striker. He will be introduced in the second half for sure, depending on the result.

Guys, elt's not believe all the bull****e around on footie websites.
I think the main issues will be solved in this way:
1. Kalac will be playing tonight
2. Gila will start
3. Can't see Pato playing from the 1st minute after 20 days
Maybe Seedorf cant play 90 min now, so PAto will play as a trequartista some part? Its possible...
This Gila over Pippo stuff I cant digest and its really a HORRIBLE decision, you'll see it, remember this post.
2. Gila will start
:( :( :( :scream:
Gila will start and thats already offcial by couple of hints by Carlo ;)
cescvanpersie, scoring an early goal vs Milan is just terrible, as it will only make Milan go forward more often and make dangerous attacks.
Stopping Pirlo's Passes, IMO, is Mission Impossible.
Kalac will be evaluated by Carlo, again, this evening before the match.
Maldini will be playing, but where, i dont know.
Kaka-Seedorf-Gila will be unstoppable!
and Mrki, you should stop saying that Gila sucks, cuz thats just not cool. dont forget he scored 2 goals in CL ;)
PS: Gio, Pato started from 1st min after 6 months :D

They won't risk Pato from the first minute. Having a weapon like him on the bench will be scary for Arsenal. Just imagine when he gets up and start to warm up...
The Arsenal defender will think: "WTF..? " and Pato will just slip away with the ball after a second.

Oh yeah, I like this "trick" :delol: .
Likely subs will see Gila subbed for Pato, Inzaghi on for Seedorf, and then Emerson for maybe Gattuso. It might be a nil nil with all the talk of goals. but i believe in a Milan win because of Nesta, Pirlo, Gattuso, Kaka, Pato. Our fulcrum players IMO.
The only thing we know for sure is that Carlitto will put his usual CL 4-3-2-1 ...
A system which make us winning against teams very offensive like MU last year ... so I think we can be (at least a bit lol) confident for tonight !!
PS: My prediction is => 1 goal from Gila, 2 goals from Kaka' (his comeback to his very high level from last year !!). I don't know how many goals we're going to take anyway lol !!

Marking Pirlo is very possible...I haven't seen anything frm AC milan so far this season to tell me that Pirlo cannot be marked.
Kaka has been marked out by lesser players that SAGNA and CLICHY in serie A.
But he is top class so i hope he has an off day.
Eduardo must be clinical, Fabregas must outshine Pirlo and Flamini must be solid.
Gatusso doesn't have much match fitness so i hope that'll be a liability...I'm not scared of Pato...he hasn't done anything to me...he has played against rubbish defenders...2 of his 4 goals were against GENOA...
Adebayor must work the milan defence in order for Eduardo to exploit the space.
Hleb must do a lot of dribbling runs and slip in those passes for Eduardo to finish.
C'mon Arsenal!!! :D

I hope that Bonera starts at right back. Oddo is a defensive liability in this game (he left the right side way too open against Livorno, that can't happen tonight). Kalac should be starting, so that is good. I'm pissed I can't watch this game live, I have to tape it and watch it later tonight. I have no idea how this game will go, but what I do know is Carlo knows how to handle a two-legged tie, so I'm sure he has a good since of what he wants to accomplish tonight.
Kaka' is not only top class, he is a golden ball winner.
Rino will not be fit? hahahahaha!!!

Come on boys lets beat Arsenal tonight, I have faith in it. I think it will be a very tough game but Arsenal do miss some important players.
Listen guys Kaka is top class but we are sure to get beat from Arsenal they are so much better than us in every imaginable way. I think I'll trade in my Milan shirts for one that says "Emriates" :)

I think the only guarantee for tonite“s game is that goals will be scored....the question is by whom?
Again, if Arsenal think they can attack as they do in the EPL, we should be able to strike on the counter...and this is where Kaka is his most effective...
I hope Gila justifies Carlo“s trust in him...and even if he doesnt score, that he gives good "relay" passess to Kaka and Clarence.
Kalac...my the force be with you, and your finger bro! I would hate to have to use a sub to replace him, in a game where it will be cruical for Carlo to have all 3 at his disposal in the 2nd half.
FORZA MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILAN!! I made so many typos on this post.....so nervous...but I will find a centre of calm in the currentl emotional whirlwind I find myself in at the moment...I will look at my club crest, recall the 7 trophies we have won in the past, and put my faith in my team, and coach.

Exactly.....the last two games.
Games where Ancelotti played with a lot of players that won't play tonight at all and where he used much different tactics than the ones he'll use today.
And he did it with a very good reason you know. Not only that he gave a rest to some of his stars but Wenger also payed attention to the last two-three matches.
So who takes my bet that Wenger and everyone from Arsenal will be unpleasantly surprised when they'll see that the team that played Parma, Livorno and Siena is a completely different one than the one that will play at Emirates and that this Milan at Emirates won't be such a boring and uncreative like it was in Parma or against Livorno and Siena ?
Anyone willing to take this bet ? :D

Pirlo and Seedorf are performing......Let's say below par...
From the 30th minute on, their energy has been taking its toll on our players... But it's being one hell of a game. By far the highest-tempo I have seen in Milan games in a long long time...
Half time. Pato have not done much, but his presence make Arsenal be more cautious, their attacking moves were not dangerous as always and with less players.

20-02-2008, 15:38
kaka seems completely out of the game, pato has done what he can, showed his inexperience once with that yellow card, everyone else holding on just fine, i wonder how fit kaka really is cause he has not been in this game at all,,,arsenal like any other home team is putting pressure but only 1 or 2 clear occasions, one from the right and another one from the left but both times our midfield has come back to back-up our defense, milan has not been dangerous at all, i also noticed that both teams have given the ball away plenty of times
It is a high tempo from both teams very tight in the middle and pressuring each other in the midfield. That's why we see so many balls given away. Arsenal have been slightly more dangerous simply because the have utilized the wings way more then we have.
Pato should stay in the game as he is doing fine with what he has gotten, which is close to zero. Kaka and Seedorf need to get more in the game and actually start creating something.
Let's see how we do in the second half. We also need to keep being careful with Adebayor. He is so strong that a couple of times he has knocked our backs off the ball. If we continue keeping things tight in the middle we should be fine.

Seedorf, Pirlo and Kaka were completely out of this game.
and i dont mean that as " arsenal marked them good" , they were rather poor, especially pirlo who made lot mistakes, seedorf wasn't that good too.
Basically they left Kaka and Pato all alone in arsenal's half.
IMO best players were 1. Oddo 2. Kalac 3. Maldini
Oddo was great in defense it was in enormous contrast to his previous games in serie a, Kalac was always secure, always catching the ball , Maldini was also great and did the 90 % of CB's work ( kaladze was kinda out ) .
But Adebayor has been dreadful , he could have made the game 2-3 : 0
Bosniaco
20-02-2008, 16:53
I think Kalac was best today in the Milan team, then Maldini. Ma Arsenal ran our sucks of in the second half, especially the first 10-15 min in the second half.

No, he was just tired. He just had cramps.
eltomas2
20-02-2008, 16:54
Wow, losing Nesta in our defense was like losing 2 players, weird how much pressure Milan was under after Nesta was gone, I wish I was exaggerating but Arsenal really had our backs against the wall, from minute 50 to about 60 the pressure Arsenal was putting on was relentless, and then that last chance Abeda-pain-in-the-ass had all alone against the woodwork, luck was definitely on our side. Kaka looked very very slow, is so obvious specially for us Milan fans, he is definitely playing with pain, and pato got injured, dont know if it was the same ankle, that really sucks...oddo had a great chance but im not sure what he was aiming for, but I thought he played well tonight, kalac had great positioning, always was were he was supposed to be, great job...let's hope pato and nesta are ok, SPECIALLY Nesta, this guy is invaluable to our defense...i still cant believe that last chance arsenal missed, the young gunners couldn't go for the kill
sounds like it's a defense day for us. I don't blame the players; they have been playing one game every three days and they seem to get drained. Our away form is usually awful (except against bayern when Milan needs to win).
I'm surprised that milan didn't get grilled; it should have been 2-0 or 3-0 against Milan but Arsenal sounds like they didn't take the chance.
I'm quite certain we'll see a different Milan 2 weeks later. Or let's at least hope so! :D
J
Oh ya... if Nesta didn't come back and Pato... I'm a bit worried then :D
I'm just surprised that Arsenal didn't take their chances, like Man U did last time.

Meanwhile, is Pato injured AGAIN?
I think he was faking to kill time, but I'm not sure
The chanses for Arsenal was to win with 1-0 not more, don't get me crazy, i am the one who wants 5-8 trasfers but we weren't faced an Arsenal to beat us 2-0 or 3-0.
So... if Nesta has not something very serious our physios will make their job as they did with Kalac today... Pirlo made one of his worst games, he can't be worser in the 2nd, Seedorf was very poor also, the same with Pirlo, Kaka tried but he was alone.
Kalac was very good, Il capitano was great again... Pato was good also...
Gatusso and Ambro average...
So regarding all these facts along with 70.000 Tiffozzi in San Siro i believe that is up to us to qualify for the "8"...
you exaggerate Arsenal's quality in this game, they had been dominating, but with only few serious chances..
the best Arsenal could get out of this game is 1:0
luckily for us, it's a draw,
hope we rape them at the San Siro
remote2book
20-02-2008, 17:24
arsenal basically looked really eager to score the whole time today...i think it could be cuz they might think our defence will be really hard to break down at the san siro..but arsenal pressured us the whole game...kalac and the whole defense did great even after nesta went out maldini marked Adebayor just as good ...iam confident that we will go through arsenal must be worried that they didnt score..pirlo did not have a good game at all..same with kaka and seedorf..and with these guys not having a good game you can only imagine the striker...on the flipside its not like febragas had a good game eboue was running like a man possesed in the second half i think that was because maldini had gone into the CB position...but overall the defence and kalac deserve all the credit today there is no other team in the worl that can do what our defence did for 60min today...but 0-0 is a tricky result we cant let arsenal score in the san siro..we would make it hard on ourself..
Giovanni
20-02-2008, 17:33
On the positives, last year we drew in Glasgow 0-0, and then our fitness went improving week after week.
I think in the San Siro it'll be a COMPLETELY different story, as they will need a boast of confidence once they get inside.
Btw congratulations to Arsenal. They are a great team, and we must accept the chance that in 90 everything can happen, especially given that they have 2 results out of 3.
My ticket for the return leg is worthy 10 times the price i paid. I will make noise for 2.

Hi i honestly think that we got a good 0-0 because you could have scored at least 1. But scoring chances is also a skill, and missing them a mistake. I think you will be a threat in San Siro, but i think you played better than us even because you were home.
At home everyone is more confident, that's why i think San Siro will be a threat in itself. The spaniards call it "miedo escenico".
Don't forget that you are used to rape everyone at home, and we coped with that well, with personality. I think it's still 50-50. We play home but you have 2 results out of 3.

If this happened against any other side, I would have said that you got lucky. But since your AC Milan, I have to salute your players(well, mainly your defenders) for holding out and following the game plan.
Because in footballing terms, you lot were completely outplayed, alot was made about our youth and your experience at the start of the game, but finally it looks like we cancelled each other out, our youth gave us the energy to out pass/play you, but your experience gave you the edge in defending in the final third, which we did not have.
I look foward to the return leg, hopefully you guys will try to attack and come out of your half

When we play home, we can attack without uncover our back. Pirlo gets the ball in our half, launch it to Pato, Inzaghi or Kaką.
On Arsenal positives, they are well capable to play a great match in San Siro, as they have an excellent personality. But i can't see you playing like tonight in our stadium. Against United last year the noise was unbelievable. From the 1st minute to the last. The greatest supported game i've ever been over 15 years.

True..lets hope that it will be like the first leg and become a really good, open game of football, both sides have the quality going foward and in defence. I will now be about who wants it more, lets not forget that unlike Milan, Arsenal are trying to mount a succesful title bid in the domestic league, so our players may not be as well rested as yours.
Also, Id like to make a special mention on behalf of our RB - Bacary Sagna, who played this game despite the pain of losing his brother a few days back.

Thanks for the invite Giorgos
And yes, Arsenal are on course to win the PL. Even though everyone wrote us off as being too young and inexperienced
Actually, we WERE lucky mate, lucky to draw 0-0 instead of losing 1-0.
That said though, I don't feel that we were outplayed. We defended as we should and played for the result that we were expecting to get.
On a side note, I really hate how biased most English websites are at describing the game. Even the football pundits on ESPN complained about how even the highlights didn't show a true reflection of how impressive AC Milan had been in the game (cause all the highlights showed were the wasted Arsenal chances).

there is no other team in the world that can do what milan did tonight at the emirates..arsenal really pride themselves at winning at the emirates and they must be feeling somehwhat down and frustrated on how did milan hold them to a 0-0

Ha ha Ryo, I know what you mean, the media in England does tend to be very biased, a good example is when Arsenal play Man Utd, when an Arsenal player does something wrong or uses foul language, he is condemmed by all, but when Rooney does something along those lines, he is openly praised because he demonstrates the true "British" grit. I know you must have found it irritating to hear people being one sided.
However, I think alot of the praise is justified, we outplayed you in midfield, your players could not cope with the pace and it was some last ditch tackling and our slight lack of composure that prevent us from going a goal ahead.
This game was again a huge test for us, I am not particular about the CL this season, I personally hope for league glory above all, but Id dearly like to show the world that Arsenal are not just another English side. I hope that tonights performance has helped us gain a bit more respect from the fans around Europe.

We are used to being frustrated at the Emirates, most lower league sides come here just to play for the draw, kind of how you did tonight.
Again, Im sure our players are gutted for not scoring even one goal, but when we look back, we will be very happy with tonights perfomance, we contained the likes of Kaka, Pirlo, Seedorf, Gattuso and Ambrosini easily and dictated the game for some parts of the first half and most of the second. I am sure that very few teams have done that to Milan in the past.
And this is coming off a 4-0 loss to Man Utd (although we were resting players)
Good game, Ade should have buried that final header and this is when Arsenal need Persie back the most.
Knowing both teams inside out I can say that Milan are all but through, San Siro is a fortress.
Arsenal-fan always nice to see a fellow Gooner on a forum, you going to Milan?
I got my ticket booked and this is a night I wont want to forget.

So you're coming Ghost? Were will you be sitted ? Is it your first time at the Giuseppe Meazza?
Any other Italian team would have lost today, probably with two goals difference.
No, i'm not saying that Milan is better than Inter or Roma :D Actually, i think Inter, Roma and Barcelona are the teams that can and will eliminate Milan if they play you.
But Milan are tactically superior to the English teams while Inter, Roma and Juve aren't.
Maybe it's a very optimistic prediction, but if Milan don't play Inter, Roma and Barca then you'll win CL again.
Oh, as for the return leg, it will be 2:0 at SS with Pippo being the star of the night. 5 or 6 offsides and then Bang-Bang
:D

No, Ghost. I am not going for the away leg.
Your right though, we did miss van Persie, again I wont be arrogant by saying that we would have won with RvP on the pitch, but I can say that we would have troubled your keeper alot more. Eduardo is a good player but hes not used to games of this level.
the thing I would like to add: Milan actually had 3 "forwards" who were out of shaoe today, meaning not phisically 100% ready - Kaka', Seedorf and Pato. Especially Clarence who Milan needs if we are about to be more dangerous than today. Even Galliani himself said so, and when he says such thing you know its true.
Arsenal played well today, they did their best. Milan will look differently at the San Siro. Rino, Pirlo and Ambro will play with more power, and Pippo will play upfront most likely, aldough PAto did well enough for his first CL game.

Hey Gio,
I don't know where my seat is allocated yet but should find out soon and yes this is the first time I'll get to see the San Siro.
I can't wait, so many years I heard unbelievable stories about this ground and knowing in 2 weeks time I will be there to watch a game is out of this world. The only sad thing is I could only book 2 days off work so on the day of the game i'll have to come to Milan, watch the game stay overnight and come back home the next day.

Id like to mention that we had 5 players that were not 100% ready as well. Flamini, Clichy, Senderos and Adebayor were doubt for this game, but were lucky enough to shake off their injuries.
Plus Sagna was a doubt for reasons already mentioned

Van persie is a player who can turn a game upside down within an instance, a top player who can really trouble any keeper. I think he would have caused many problems today and here's me hoping for his return in 2 weeks time.
Eduardo still needs time as this is his first season, I still think he'll turn out to be a superb player.
I'm sure no English side has ever won at the San Siro, the same story at the Bernabeu a few seasons back and we all know what happened there.
Oh what I would do for some Henry magic

I don't think we will get absolutely slaughtered like United did at the San Siro last season, I would suggest more like individual brilliance by Kaka like he done against Celtic.

Italian Juventini are taking this a lot more personal than the ones from juventuz.
But i'm sure they took Inter's defeat yesterday equally happy.

A few pearls of wisdom:
- "it's not luck; it was Saint Silvio's hand " :haha:
- "let's cheer the symbol and legend of Milan: Gian Nikola Kulovic " :haha:
...your players could not cope with the pace and it was some last ditch tackling ... that prevent us from going a goal ahead.
That's the art ;)
Actually, I am kind of worried after today's yet another toothless performance in the offense. Please guys, tell me we are going through :) I know I was equally worried last year against manUre, but deep within my heart I knew we will make it :)

I'm honestly even more optimistic now (informed optimism vs. uninformed optimsim before the game). I felt that Milan has done just what they want to do:
1) Don't lose. If lose, no more than one goal (unlike Inter lol)
2) Don't injure your player (almost for Nesta and Pato)
3) Score a goal if possible.
Two out of three achieved.
I especially like the fact that we didn't draw 1-1. True, it might be 'dangerous' because then if Arsenal scored then Milan needed to score two, BUT:
This is also when Milan usually thrives. They HAVE TO win from the first second. Examples:
1) Against Bayern. They can't sit back but they need to score because Milan drew 2-2 at SS.
2) Against Man U: Has to score at least one goal.
Losing 1-0 will be the worst reason, but 0-0 is acceptable. In fact, Arsenal is 'smarter' than Man U in that sense, since Arsenal is 'stronger' than Man U in defense (judging from this game).
BUT: I juts don't see how Arsenal can beat Milan UNLESS Milan screwed themselves up (e.g., 3-3 against Liverpool -.-!). Milan has all it takes to beat Arsenal now.
I'm quite confident (considering that no other injuries occur, that is :D).

They are pissed off with Milan's luck. But some of them recognise we know how to play away and to stay calm in situations under pressure.
They believe we are likely to get through in the second leg.
Gio, I dont get it, are these Juventini making fun of Milan or cheering for Milan?
Neither actually. Maybe a bit of the first but i wouldn't call that making fun of Milan.
These are jokes out of depression. They are angry that Milan are undefeatable in CL so they make jokes about Milan being lucky.
Game of words is what it is. And some funny stuff there with Spider Kulac :haha:
Since Culo means ass but it means lucky also (we also have the same expression in "Guzonja" ) they make jokes with the word.
for example, Zeljko Kalac, called Spider for the way he makes his saves, became Spider Kulac (from Culo, Kulo). Or Milan is Culan. :D

Anyway guys, even if by chance we would have won 0-1, the return leg would have benn just as well uncertain as the next game.
And before that... we have Palermo coming up... is it going to be a home game? Away game will be as tough as playing at Arsenal...

great play by arsenal. i like how they performed and that kind of performance i've been waiting to match up against Milan.
Wenger was brilliant by playing 4-5-1 pattern with adebayor as lone upfront supporting by hleb exactly behind him.
Hleb all the game disturbed Pirlo so much making Pirlo has no space and time to delay the game and distribute the ball nicely to others.
IMO, hleb's job on pirlo is the key for arsenal to eliminate milan posession, sterile milan counter attack and win that game which is luckily no :grinser:

any coreo planned for the return leg by the ultras? anyone know? gio?...but we played our game to perfection just lacked on the attacking side...atleast we didnt end up like inter..who just choked in the end
a great game by Arsenal.they'd more attacks than us.but despite with no goals last night this is a good result for us.we have to back to our good performance in San Siro.some attacks must create when we play in San Siro and hopefully Pato and Nesta will recorvers soon.
@Kalac: his dislocated finger not have much effect for his performance.made some briiliant saved from Arsenal players.fantastic saved from Kalac against Fabregas,Eduardo, Flamini, Adebayor and last minutes from Walcott.great game.
@Oddo:he was really damn mobile.and his battle with Hleb very enjoy to watch.helped the atttack, did solid defence.and his crosses not as bad as usual.indeed.. he is very great in this match.
@Nesta:as usual his performance was briliant until he got that damn injury  his battle against Adebayor was superb :proud:
@Maldini:MOM :star: superb.. !! he never lost the battle with Adebayor.and when replaced Nesta's place in centre from left he also didn't lack concentration.man is from the outside league (from outspace i guess.. the hell he is 39 but for me last night he about at the same age with Adebayor).
@Max: was enough mobile last night.his battle couple time with Eboue and Clichy was good.
@Gattuso: the bull never gets tired to runs and battle in mid.together with Max tried to possesed the ball.
@Pirlo:i don't think this was his night.lost the battle few times against Cesc who was displaying a great performance.
@Seedorf:didn't created so much for attack.hopefully he will back to his best in SS.
@Kaka: tried to make some attacks.and the best moment was when Kaka with a brilliant turned inside the area but Senderos comes to the rescue with a great tackle.
@Pato: hopefully he will recovering soon.but i am glad that he made his debut in CL.but his performance is not so good. best moment was when Pato launched a counter-attack but he is pushed out of play by some good defending from Senderos.
subs:
@Janku:replaced Maldini's place as LB while Maldini changed to CB.didn't have much contribution though.
@Gilardino: i remember his contribution with assist from Pirlo's corner :)
@Emerson: enter the field when the match was left 5 minutes more for replacing Seedorf.. can't made something superb with so little time.
actually even with no goal.. but the defence was superb.have to give credit for Milan's players.and we was lucky that the last header from Adebayor hit the bar.time to score in SS :gonova:

I personally think Milan have to beat us 2-0 to go through...because i don't see us not scoring.
But we'll see what happens.
We were all over Milan last night..just lacked that bit of composure in the final third...

Arsenal to score first with Milan equalising in the dieing minutes.
