According to the gazzetta dello sport Carlo Ancelotti will leave Milan for Chelsea!! 70% chance he is joining Chelsea, 20% he is joining Real Madrid and 10% chance he is staying.
His replacement would be Massimiliano Allegri, Cagliari's coach.

This news came out of nothing, so I wonder how true this is. but it does sounds like music in my ears!

Allegri? In all fairness other than doing reasonably well with Cagliari this season (since taking over from Ballardini), I don't see why we'd be looking at him. It would be great if he's another Sacchi (coming to be the best from no where), but somehow I'm pessimistic about this rumour.

I'm not sure going for a coach with just 1 year of Serie A experience is a good idea. I'd prefer to see us getting someone like Prandelli, Spalletti or someone abroad - a big name with experience at, or near, the top. It's important that the players respect - maybe even fear - him, especially the likes of Seedorf, Pirlo and Ronaldinho who (while the last two haven't been as bad as some would say) aren't giving a 100%, or 90% for that matter. We need a coach who won't have favourites that he always picks regardless of form and who can bring out the best of those unmotivated players. I don't know if Allegri is that coach, I don't know his style, but I have my reservations about someone who 1 year ago coached Sassuolo in Serie C1.

If we take someone with no experience or almost, let's go for a coach from our former players ... I don't know Allegri enough to judge, but if that sounds like music in your ears Filipez, that sounds like bad music in mines. I may be wrong.

Its not always a bad thing! look at Sacchi, or Guardiola!
Even the best coaches fck up sometimes with some teams, and are brilliant at other teams. Everything begins with a good balance in the squad with a good mix between youngsters and experienced players. It all has to fall into the right place. The problem with ancelotti is that cant axe 'his' players who won so much with him as our manager. He isnt ready to try new things and different players, he did some brilliant things here but is relying too much on his former succes. thats why we need to change coach, someone who is ready to build a fresh milan squad with new ideas and younger players. Someone who has no problem putting big names on the bench for younger players who are in better form or simply better players. And Allegri for sure is a talented coach! He may not have the experience but he could build our 'new' Milan IMO. And come on, the guy must do something good if our management want him, becouse there are also names like rijkaard available so that would be the 'easyer' option.

I agree.

No coach in the world can make a defense of Favalli, Senderos, Bonera, Kaladze and Maldini look solid. Players are needed.

In my opinion Ancelotti in among 10 best coaches in the world. Any of those coaches would be good if proper players are bought, and any of those coaches would look bad with these players.

If Carlo does leave then it is a no brainer.

Rijkaard (Leonardo with an extremely outside chance)

It's true that Allegri is hardly a proven coach, and in truth there might not be anything to these rumours at all. If it is true that the management has looked at Allegri, then it's clearly cause they see something in him. And in all honosty I'd definetly prefer choosing a coach based on a well thought out decision, evaluating exactly what kind of coach we need, instead of picking up a big name coach with loads of credentials for the sake of picking up a superstar coach.

I know alot of people don't have alot of faith in the management at the moment, but we can't forget that it was the same management that picked up Sacchi and Capello. They were both unproven when they started coaching Milan, and they've turned out to be two of the best coaches the world have ever seen in my opinion.

I'm not saying that Allegri is definetly the perfect fit for Milan, but perhaps we as fans should look at the choice (if we'll get a new coach) in a positive way, even if the new coach is not a big name superstar.

well i am surprised with the link with this coach,to be honest he is doin` great things with cagliari this season, they play great football,he is unproven, but with the team he has and results he has achieved so far are outstanding,he has something in himself, most important thing he is playing really attacking football wich is a very good thing for me,i dunno guyz for me any1 is good instead of carlo!:)

Galliani officially said that there was no research nor any contact for a new coach. It is on the website of Milan.

Cagliari also said it was not true.

Anyway, we're lucky, we're at the center of football medias: Kaka', Ancelotti, who else then ?

The only reason they are receiving media attention is that they are good. Otherwise, why would they?

I hope Ancelotti leaves in the summer to go to Madrid or Chelsea. If he leaves, we'll most likely get Rijkaard which I'll be fine with, but not happy about.

If I get to pick I'll most likely pick Hiddink or Mourinho, but both would be dreams.

Carlo was good coach when he had good players who did their best on the pitch.
Now, when all those players became average/too old, now he's a disaster coach.

Ancelotti spoke about these rumours and replied them in a funny way:
"Galliani already spoke about that [Ancelotti not leaving because he has a contract until 2010], I don't have to add anything. I agreed with Chelsea the 17th of March ? But wasn't I with Florentino Perez this day ?!"

Carlo could :D

The importance is players. From 2005 to 2009, our team looked weaker than Juve, then Inter.

Some say Carlo can't be Ferguson since the English Knight won 11 PLs in 22 years, but back then, MU was always the strongest team when it won the league.

However, the coach I admire is Zaccheroni, he won 1998-1999 Scudetto to celebrate Milan's 100th Birthday with not much stars.

I think that it is generally good for a club to have one coach over a long period of time or an era.
Maybe it would be best if Milan got some serious team next year and then we would see what is Carlo really made of.
But the thing about Carlo is that I'm afraid he becomes more of a friend to his players than coach and that he would play his precious Seedorf or some others until Universe itself collapses.

This kind of accusations are coming only from the supporters whose are very far away from the team and the training grounds.

How can I believe these theories when Milanello is full of competent staff and experts whose are also present in training and nobody sees these favoritism allegations.

Yes, I agree that Seedorf underperformed for a time, even Seedorf himself admitted it that he had to play even when he was not completely fit and in pain, but this doesn't proof anything.
My logic says that if for you it was so clear, what makes the management not to fire Carlo straight away?

The answer is that there were other valid reasons why Carlo fielded unfit Seedorf and not somebody else which were well known by the management.

How can someone think that Berlusconi, a such successful business man who built a whole empire will leave a coach to make infantile favoritism and harming his investment.

I hope not...his history a Milan player is amazing, but as coach, history is at least suspect.

He couldn´t even put a Ajax side in Champions league playing in Eredivisie(more than one time). Also, don´t want here a coach that only knows to put one scheme(4-3-3) on the field...same with Rikjaard.

Perhaps you're right, indeed it would be hard to see Milan functioning in a 4-3-3, with all the Brasilians, and especially Kaka. I've always wondered what Real Madrid etc. would do if they bought him. Play him as a left winger like Robinho? Or in a Iniesta kind of role, as a CM

Yep, in a 4-3-3 Pato will be throw to the wing(like Robinho in RM and Ronaldinho in Barcelona) and also Kaká will be underutilized...

I really hope if we change our coach, it will be someone that really knows to organize a team in more than one scheme.

Apparently Van Basten just resigned from Ajax. Don't think he'd be the right one for us though, but just thought it was a bit interesting.

If Carlo should leave the club I don't want San Marco as our head coach, I followed Ajax a bit and I didn't liked what I saw.
(Not the 4-3-3 since that is just how Ajax plays with our without Van Basten.)
I also saw several sportshows (studio sport) with him as a guest and he just didn't convinced me in what he said, how he said it and how he responded to questions. He knows football but I'm affraid he just can't bring it over to other people.

He just didn't seemed passionate. He underwent everything, every question was like a hit and all our former hero could do was put up his guard up and take it all.
I don't think he should be aggresive our something like Van Gaal :r14:
but he looked desparate like a small child that didn't know what to do, I don't know, it felt kind of strange. Two weaks before his resignation a journalist on that show asked him what he was going to do to prevent such a bad season and again he said somethings had to change but he didn't seemed convinced that he knew what to do.
After that I immediately felt he was going to give in his resignation.

If he should come I will give him my fullest support but I'm affraid he has nothing to gain here but burn a part of his mythological status.

Has anyone mentioned Slaven Bilic yet? I think he's a top coach, the way he motivates players and gets the best out of them is fantastic. He can be the 'comforting' coach but also the 'angry' coach if needed and he likes football to be played in an attractive manner.

I also like how independent he is, he's not just another 'yes' man and doesn't have the weight of expectation or history that Rijkaard or Van Basten would have.

He is inexperienced at top club level though, but his time with Croatia and the big tournaments they've played in should be a good basis.

I'm sure he has many faults too and people who know him better will be able to highlight these, but why not him?

I was just about to post about the same thing. It appears if rumours are to be believed, there will be major changes in the background of how we work and prepare for matches. The most interesting change is the idea of a new Tactical Manager (or tactician) who apparently does all the key research on an opponent and feeds back their setup to our coaches. This will reduce the workload on the new manager to do this himself (and allow him to focus on the players) and means that will should get more in depth reports on our opponents and the best ways to counter them. I'm definitely with this approach if it's implemented.

leonardo will be a perfect coach.... believe me !!, im 100 percent sure

p.s.
..about Bilic..
im from croatia and i am sure that Bilic will stay on his position as a coach of Croatia... media always connected him with west ham and some other premier league clubs as for example chelsea, but he always said that he will surely stay on his position, and that he is NEVER going to coach club and country.. like Guus Hiddink did/does... this isn't an option for Bilic... he is determined in that...
he isn't such a good tactician, but a great motivator, and he coaches like with some strength and spirit, he likes to play attacking football with wingers, and he is really brave, self-confident and determined man, he knows what he wants, and he will accomplish that, total opposite from Carlo,.... he is not pusssy like carlo..
....and when in some time he leaves his job, he will probably coach some english team... definetly not italian, . He is really connected with premier league, and he LOVES their style of play.. he played in west ham and everton

LEONARDO is the best choice...

To reply Siregar, maybe Leonardo because we are going to have a Brazilian Milan ?

I mean, if we still buy 2 Brazilian players who start (I don't know if that will happen), and like someone said, if Leonardo becomes our coach, Kaka' will probably stay, that means we could have 5 Brazilian players on the pitch (Kaka, Pato, Thiago Silva, 2 new players) + potentially Ronaldinho too ...

Not sure, but Geotav maybe has a point about the large Brazilian contingent at Milan. Leonardo is very well know for his intelligence and maybe the management have identified this as a possible reason for his coaching skills. Leo must have shown something to be the front runner, but I don't know what. I think I remember he was in the middle of getting his coaching license, so maybe his intention is to go into coaching.

Thanks Geo, Dev for your replies.

I am not against him but as said above the management must have seen something from Leonardo which can bring him into a good coach.

About brasilian Milan, I think we already have this since Rivaldo, Kaka dan Cafu joined Milan and later Oliviera, Emerson, Ronaldo and Pato signed by Milan.

The most brasilian players played as starters was when we played Dida, Serginho, Cafu, Kaka, Ronaldo and Oliviera (6 players). It started in 2007 for a couple of months. CMIIW if they never played together.

Well, Leonardo has played football on the highest level. We've seen many former players start from that.

Whether Leonardo is right to coach Milan I don't know. And to be honest I think Carlo Ancelotti is the right man for the job.

I very much like the idea of a person carrying out analysis of the opponent eliminating the chance of missing details about the opponents. Everything counts.

Plus the idea of more time for the coach with the players and so on seems intelligent.
